I am looking for the stock ROM so I can do a warranty return. I am looking for the zip NOT the ruu. I heard you can get the rom out of the RUU but i don't know how. thanks
I hope someone answers because I have the same problem. I think my phone is going to have to be returned because the touch screen is getting very flaky and does not always respond like it should.
Same here also, wanted to go back to out of the box stock after rooting and s off and flashing arhd Rom. Theres so many threads and so many steps on each thread and so confusing to follow for a noob like me. Hope somebody can shed some light here

I realized that I had made a nandroid backup before I started all the S-off, rooting, and ROM changing so I just did a restore and I'm back to 100% stock. Funny thing is my screen quit acting up and is back to normal.

There's a pinned thread in the development section that will do just that. It says FAQ on it. It's written so a middle schooler can understand.

To get back to stock, you need to use an RUU. You can't flash a zip in recovery, because ytou need to remove recovery to be stock, and the only way to remove the revx stuff is flashing a stock ROM.

Hi All,
I'm about to root and flash a new ROM onto my HTC Sensation but before I do so, I want to have a backup of the stock ROM in case I need to take the phone in for a repair.
I'm looking for the Vodafone Australia HTC Sensation stock ROM but can't find it!
Does anyone have one which they could send me a link to?
Or, is there a way which I can make a backup of the stock ROM from my phone?
Thanks!
EDIT: just to clarify, I've tried searching for the RUU but there don't seem to be any for Vodafone AUS. So is there anyway to backup the stock? Thanks! (I'm not exactly a newbie at rooting/flashing, just never had to worry about backing up for warranty purposes before)
i was wondering the same thing! cant find the ruu! hope someone can guide us to restore without a RUU
or some method gets invented

Im bad at posting links. Head over to sensation android development section. Find the roms collection thread and it should have plenty of choices stock and custom.

Not sure if it helps, there are many of RUU in shipped-roms.com, Sensation related ROMs are in http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
@tingtan Thanks for the link. I'm not sure which one the Vodafone AUS one is. Is there anyway that you or someone else could match it for me? Here is a screenshot of the software info for my phone. Thanks!

hey did you find a way to do it?
People, before you flash a new rom you need to make a nandroid back up! In case you need to restore your phone for what ever reason.....
This is also done in clockworkmod recovery.....
Hit the backup/restore button and you are good to go.
If you look at the step by step install protocols in the tread of your choosen rom, one of the first steps is DO A NONDROIDBACKUP....
Goodluck!

Thanks for the tip! And I assume that if you need to take the phone back for some reason, just restore, unroot and S-on?

you cant S-on without a RUU though? thats what the guide says?
If you do restore, you are unrooted.... But be careful restoring s-on, its more riskie than requiring s-of! Read the threads regarding this proces and do what it says every step!

You'll need to have stock recovery and bootloader, which a nandroid backup doesn't save. And only an RUU, AFAIK will give you those.

Here is a link to an Australian Vodafone stock RUU, I note yours is a slightly newer version than this RUU, however I would expect this would be fine if you need to go back to stock.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/c13...00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_220002_signed.exe (thanks to Football)
BTW you either need your stock RUU or you need to have backed up stock recovery and Hboot before rooting (via temp root) because these are overwritten in the revolutionary s-off and custom recovery installation process. A nandroid backup is important but it won't take you back to stock.
For a short time I've got the RUU in my dropbox, it might be a bit quicker and less ads! http://is.gd/Vaq45l

Eventhough the screen is cracked, the phone is working fine right?
So, you should be able to go into the bootloader and put on the stock ruu.
wrong place where to ask man...there is a Q&A thread for something
download the RUU specific to your phone to windows and install via windows , should return your phone to stock. Plz ask this in relevant forum, this is not development dude

Hi there.
My Ds is unlocked with htcdev and has s-on...
I did a backup of my stockrom before I installed custom Roms... But: if I want get back to stock I need the original kernel for Ds... So I can flash it via fastboot, because of s-on...
Is there a way to get it anywhere?
Thanks

What you need is an RUU. It really would help if you would take the pains of searching the forum for similar requests before starting nearly identical threads. Helps reduce clutter as well as overhead on the servers.
But here's a link to set you in the right direction: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547924

hmm... i ask myself: why i need an ruu, when i got a backup of my original system?
I tried to restore it and it works... but because of s-on, 4ext doesnt flash the original boot.img "i think"... becouse it doesnt do that with custom roms too....
am i wrong?
ahm... okay I think I've found something...
this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236890
includes kernel for hboot 2....
would it work if I flash it and run the recovery of my original system?
ain't it dangerous to just try it out?

Hi, Did that work? I am having a similar problem and I am looking for a safe solution
Thought I did pretty good for a noob and not asking a single question. Rooted my HTC Inspire 4g. All was good until I flashed cm7. Now the loading screen sticks on HTC then fades away, however I can still bring up the bootloader. is there a way to flash stock rom from here, or did I brick my phone?
No you did not brick phone just get pd98 rooted stock rom place in root of SD then power up with volume down and power button at same time into hboot it will see pd98 ask to install volume up for yes let it do its thing.
Or just go to recovery that same way and reflash cm7.

Rooted Gingerbread rom do not rename just place in root of sd

Since then, I'm working on learning development side of things and am helping out with a hardware fix on HTC Vivid CM10 jellybean rom on rootz. My Inspire 4g is still on cm7 and I use it as a back up when I'm working on my Vivid. Better late than never, but thanks for ya'lls help back when.

if you want us to try to help you, explain your condition. Like, S-OFF/S-ON, Hboot ?, Cid number? HTC Dev unlocked or not and maybe we can surely give you a link to a guide for your problem and some links for similar questions solved.
Maybe Xda should consider a sanction/warn etc for this kind of users that really don't search before opening a new threa.
haha, without the rom i dun think u can't flash it back. can't flash an empty folder hoping it turn into a stockrom.
try searching for a stock rom zip, sure there is one around here somewhere.
anyway why do u wan to restore it? the custom roms here are pretty nice.
Flashing a stock backup will not return you to S-ON. Nor will flashing a stock ROM have the same effect as returning to stock. You'll still be S-OFF/unlocked and probably rooted.
To return to stock you'll need a RUU. But like others have said, you'll need to provide more information before help can be provided.

Sorry for my incompetence. I'm S-ON and unlocked the boot with htcdev.com. what do you mean by cod number? Again sorry for being incompetent. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
The reason for me wanting to do this is because I would like to be able to get the ics update officially when it comes out with HTC sense cause I miss sense. Sad I know but this is what I'd like to do. I'm on orange and in the UK if that's more help.
