Hi All,
The volume rocker switch on my TF seems to have died, it will go down but no volume up and as such no APX/NVflash mode. I did a bit of reading on here and got a nice little app that gets me into CWM recovery but as far as I'm aware, I can't flash to stock that way.
Any ideas I can get a stock ROM back on this to RMA it.... or is it doom and gloom time?
I have just flashed the latest Revolution HD on it, in the off chance it was software related but that was a no go.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
EDIT: I found some old info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527
Anyone ever used this method?
I think asus just released the full rom for 8.6.5.13. There is a link in the forum somewhere. That will let you flash back to stock with nvflash. Use the update SOP that can also be found on the asus website.
As of this morning, the firmware wasn't on the asus list, but the links posted in one of the tf forums was working.
Edit: any of the full roms from the asus sight will work, not the OTA's that are posted here.

I cant get to nvflash though mate as the volume rocker switch on the TF only works Vol Down, it does nothing when you press Vol up.
Ooops I meant without nvflash.
Thanks gee one,
It looks like I might have been over thinking this one.
I've never set it back to stock so I presumed it would involve cwm or nvflash.... don't I feed stupid!! lol
Ah well, we live and learn..
Thanks again
Did it work? Any issues?
It's not picking the update up. It's probably because the firmware I have on there is higher than the one I want to flash.
I just put it on the SD card. SD\ASUS\update file
I'll have a look for an older version of my ROM and flash that
Did you try ejecting the sd card and then inserting it?
Also, the TF ext sd card is actually at Removable/MicroSD/ which could make a difference, depending on how you transfer the file.

Hi gee one,
I used a micro to SD adaptor then just unzipped via my laptop. I can't find an old vesion of Revolution HD and it seems Prime and Revolver ROMS have the update client removed and still no update seen on 4 ROMS now, so i'm just reading a bit more atm
If that doesn't work, you can force the flash this way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309949
You can use the same zip you downloaded, but unzip it one more time.

Well what can I say.....
I used ADB as you said in the link, pushed the blob etc but then adb was saying no such file. So I decided to reboot the tf, it then updated from the blob, that didn't exist!!... a bit odd but the end result was what I wanted.
I now have a stock TF ready to go back.
Thanks again for your help, it's appreciated

1. Download repacked stock rom, stock recovery and stock firmware 3.1 update:

2. Copy the files onto your micro sd. Unzip stock update and place the Asus folder on root of sd card.
3. Boot into recovery. install repacked stock rom. Wipe all data, cache partition and dalvik cache. Reboot the tablet let it boot up then shut it down.
4. Boot into recovery and install stock recovery. Wipe all data, cache partition and dalvik cache. And then reboot and shut down.
5.
a.Boot into OS, there should be a notification for an update. select it and follow instuctions. Or
b.Boot into recovery(it should be stock recovery) then press up volume button within five seconds and the official update should install.
6. It should reboot automatically. When it does check about tablet info and check your apps to make sure the Super User icon is gone.
Here is another method. I have not tried it myself but I figured it might be helpful to someone:

Also, any reason to revert back to (repacked) stock 8.2.3.13 and update rather than just revert back to stock 8.4.4.5?

Easy or not, for as long as the alternative procedure is materially different from others of similar vein, the newcomer should be welcome with open arms. Isn't it?

Actually, I was trying to point out that the op was giving us a different method.. Which I plan to use to rma a tf with some bad pixels.
I agree, and meant to express in my post, that anyone sharing any method is welcome and if you have enough time to flame or be a ****, you ought to use that energy contributing instead.

I have shipped my tablet via UPS back to newegg. I will put up a post when I find out if they accept it and ship out my replacement.
You can have the European version?
THANK YOU!!! This came just in time!
My charging cable shorted out and burned the contacts inside my TF - I have to send it in to Asus Tomorrow. Seeing as how my cable is burned out, I would have had no way to unroot, and would have had to take the chance of them refusing the Warranty.
Thanks to this method, my TF goes back tomorrow fully unrooted and stock! You are a lifesaver.
Thanks have been applied, and I would donate if there was a link!

I recently purchased a Asus Transformer, and being the android nerd I am I immediately began my rooting. After I rooted it, I began to look up roms and such. I decided to put the revolution HD Tom on it. I booted into recovery, wiped data, wiped cache, wiped dalvic, and than processed to flash the rom it flashed and said rom installed successfully. I rebooted and now nothing. I understand the wait time for boot but its been over 30 mins. I almost possitive its off and bricked. I need help as I only know how to unbrick a moto device. :/

NVFlash is only going to work if you have SBK v1.
Did you check the MD5Sum of the ROM file before flashing?
Sbk v1, what's that? And sorry I'm a noob with this transformer.

It is the Secure Boot Kit of the device.
Look at your TF serial number: if you have B7O, B8O, B9O it should have the new version of SBK (v2). If it's the case, you CAN'T use NVFlash method to unbrick at the moment.
Look at this link to be able to check the SBK version of your TF:

Have you tried to force turn-off?
If not so, press and hold the power button for 10-20 seconds.
Then try to enter CWM recovery (or to boot normally).
Have you also tried to put it to charge? (Just to see if something happens).
EDIT: Did you eventually checked the serial # (On the box or on the back bottom part of the TF) ? If you have a B6O or lower, you can quite surely use NVFlash.
Tf101 is on the bottom as soon as I leave bdubs ill check to see if I can force it off and than enter recovery.

Actually you need to read the FIRST three letters of the serial.
If it is a B6O, you're lucky

how did you get it working?
Hi everyone,
I have tried to read most of the 92 pages and still have not solved my problem.
The situation is as follows:
- I had a perfectly fine Asus Transformer B40 running Revolver 3.11 ROM with CPU OCed @ 1.6 Panda.test. While I was browsing the web the TF shut off and since then I cannot turn it on properly (boot into the OS).
- after failed attempts to reflash I wanted to get back to stock + unroot.
- I followed the steps from the first post here, I have a US version B40. I downloaded the US latest firmware from the first post and then ran the .bat file. Everything went fine and it restarted.
- then I did just this: hold vol- and power until you get the option to erase your data.... Select the option to wipe data.
Now the problem is more or less the same: I boot up the device, it shows the ASUS logo with the spinning wheel and then it turns off or reboots continuously. Sometimes it gets after the logo to the Select Language or Country screen. Touchscreen works. But then it reboots again. Every time it does that there is also a small hardware click sound.
I have also tried to manually reflash with firmware from Asus website but I still get the Android robot with an exclamation mark inside.
I just got this for Christmas, hope you can help me somehow as I don't know what to do...
Thanks a lot!
Just walked a friend through the downgrade on his B70 over the phone, he is rooted and running PRIME 2.1.1 in less than an hour.
First, get the WW_epad-user(blah blah) 8.6.6.19.zip update (downgrade/update, available in the dev section stickies), be sure it is the 8.6.6.19, not 8.6.5.19. Place the file on your SD card in the root, also make a copy and rename it
EP101_SDUPDATE.zip
(make sure your SD card is FAT32 formatted too, this has caused problems for some I have read). If these files are placed in the root of your external SD card then when booting into recovery mode it *should* find one of these two files and ask to install the 'update'. Once updated, install razorclaw and recoveryinstaller, grab the updated CWM installer with the 8.6.6.21 patch on it, available in the dev section, and then flash your new ROM over this patch (apparently you can't flash the patch over anything but a stock ROM, so if you already have a flashed ROM you need to flash back to stock ROM, search around instructions and files are available on xda).
If when you boot into recovery (vol - and pwr, vol+ on prompt) it doesn't tell you it is installing, give it some time, others have reported that the android/yellow triangle screen is actually good to see and will install updates on this screen even though it isn't notifying you (can't confirm from first hand, but what I have read on this site from other users), if it doesn't though, try rebooting normally, other users have said the update installs from notification bar in stock android OS (this confuses me too..). If recovery mode nor rebooting installs the downgrade, double check that you have the correct files, named correctly..try on another SD card, reformat to FAT32, etc. from what I understand even though it's different for some users there is some good success flashing back to the 8.6.6.19 build from the .21. Good luck, tell us if you fix it and how!
superwipe..
Before you flash revolution, you were supposed to flash superwipe then the rom, if you havent already go do so.
Help! I have downloaded and was in the process of installing the OTA update for ICS on my Transformer TF101. The installation got to the end of the progress bar and a triangle with an "!" appeared. The tablet would not do anything. I rebooted the tablet and now it is just stuck at the Eee Pad screen. when I hold down the power button, it just continuously reboots. I contacted Asus and they say I have to send it back in. I just got it back a few weeks ago from a service repair. Is there anything I can do to get this working again or am I stuck with sending it back to Asus?
Thanks
I am getting the Triangle, but I'm able to restart the unit with a long press on the power button. So, no ICS for me yet, but I'm still able to get back to the old setup. I'm sorry for your loss.

Same Issue
I too am having this issue but now I am stuck at work with no WIFI to try this above. But I am running stock ROM, Recovery and no Root. I had root but the last OTA I got removed it. I downloaded it this morning and ran it failed with the Triangle and then re-downloaded it by tethering to my phone at work and it still didn't work. Is it saved on the device anywhere? Or will you have to downloaded it every time? This is pretty frustrating that I waited to ROM or anything due to waiting on ICS and now that it is here I can't get it.
P.S. What the Guy above me asked.
My update issue is due to the SRS_config file that I modified to fix the speaker volume balance. I discovered this after trying the CWM update method.

I had trouble getting CWM to install via the Recovery installer.apk method that is available in the dev section. The trick was to COPY, REPEAT COPY, SU from system/bin to system/xbin and then that program recognized root. I used root explorer. Seriously copy don't move.
You can get that APK one click method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22359727&postcount=218
Edit: On review it looks like you probably want the second link. That will install the newer CWM which allows for internal & SD Card ZIP files to be flashed
Then I had to use the full install CWM version of our OTA update:

Edit: Option B to be clear.
I hope this helps.

I have a B40 on Stock Honeycomb, rooted.I decided I was going to try and ota update to ICS again. However, it seems though that the firmware update corrupted at some point. Part way through its flash the little android came up with the exclamation mark. I rebooted and it booted fine and said that the update failed and things were being reverted. It lied . While the system boots and runs fine. My stock recovery is broken. If I volume down then up to select recovery. It just hangs. I tried to flash a different recovery using Gnufabios installer. It said I don't have root(which is also not true). So I tried CWM. It said it flashed ok and it even says Im currently using Cwm. However, again on trying to select recovery during boot it hangs. So I'm curious if there is a straight flashable recovery via nvflash or if its just easier to flash the entire prime package for example. Loss of data doesnt bother me. Everything important is on my microSD.
Also, if someone could send me the NVflash program/package as it seems the original host site is forever busy.
Any and all help/advice is appreciated.

Verizon charge. US. Running tweaked 3.2 and the stock.fp5 kernal
So I bricked my razr (everyday phone) so until my new one gets here I wanted to turn on my charge for temporary use. Since it was on NY wife's line before they had to give me a new sim card to do it. I THOUGHT the nice Verizon lady was gonna just give me a new similar car and let me be on my way but instead she decided to activate it all for me. Throughout this she did a factory reset. Which i guess means that she did a reset through clockwork and just didn't realize it.
Pre-this happening everything was working fine. I was using the phone to wacltch Netflix and hulu on my TV with n HDMI cord. Now the home button does not work, no play store, no other apps associated with rooting (super user etc.) The kernal is reading as stock.fp5 And the phone only makes calls it doesn't receive them. (Though that may have been pre-existing I don't know because the phone didn't have service before) .
Anyone have a suggestion for me?
Because I don't have a playstore I have to be doing this on the browse and it isn't working well (took 20 minutes to get this far) so if I need to reinstall anything please provide a link. I'm at work and no computer.
