Quick question, i'm on Miui and i only have one homescreen since i'm using folders to keep things nicely organized and i want to use a certain wallpaper but i don't want it to scroll. Is there any way i can edit the wallpaper using Photoshop? the wallpapers are in MTZ file and idk how to open them. All i'm trying to do is grab a certain wallpaper and change the size to 960x800
You could just throw it on your pc to resize couldn't you

I like the IOS folder appearance, and I'm trying to find an app that looks something similar. The closest imitation I've seen of it is the folders in the App Drawer for Go Launcher, but I wish it to be on the home screen. Anyone know?

May not help but Miui has iOS folders, ofc, this means installing a whole new ROM.
Also, if I remember right, folder support is in fact officially supported by Android although I can't check as I run a Miui based ROM.
There are folders for android, but its just plain ugly.

What launcher is doing that? I don't necessarily want mini icons in my folders, but I kinda wish the folders in ADW weren't so ugly.
Any updates on this front? I'm looking for a way to organise folders on Android 2.3.4, and most importantly being able to rearrange icons within those folders from within the folder, iOS style. If they could look nice and slick (the default folder look is horrid, looks like a Windows 3.1 folder) then so much the better.
Have already looked at Folder Organizer and SiMi Folder Widget but don't think those are well-enough integrated into the OS.
With go launcher, if you create the folders on your app drawer I'm pretty sure if you long press the homescreen you can add the folders to your homescreen too,I'm using adw atm so can't check the exact way but I know you can.

The long press on the home screen is a standard feature for creating folder in Android, but unfortunately you can't rearrange the content on those folder as in iOS.
Ok so you know how you can add a folder to your main screens, and then put other app icons in there. Well the folder is a stock manilla folder and i was wondering how we can change that icon to a folder icon of my choice. If anyone know how please let me know. Thanks
Simi folder widget can do that I believe

I'm using the folder organizer app. You can choose your own icons and then put your apps in categories. There is also another one called appcategories

If you use ADW Launcher, you can replace any icon you want by simply downloading themes from the market. Not to mention, ADW speeds the phone up and fixes that slow scrolling through the app folder and menus.
Plus one. Love the customization of adw.

For those of you that likes to use Regina 3D Launcher, these are few wallpapers that I mod and been using on my evo , I want to give credit to "zandog". To get the best you need to use desktop visualizer.
Let me know what you guys think.
1- Download Regina 3D Launcher & Desktop Visualizer from the market
2- Download the attachments to your SD card
This is how is going to work: From Regina launcher hit menu and select to change the wallpaper, select the one you like the most, after that press the screen and select android widgets
use desktop visualizer 1x1 SS and place on top of each icon, select the clear icon from the attachments, do the same for each of the icons, select action by selecting the application that you want to use, clear the label and for touch effect select press OK, do this for each icon on every wallpaper, hope you guys like it.

Edit: found out it is the android gallery that is the problem. Dl gallery 3d from the market and use that to apply the wallpaper.

I love the concept and the wallpapers, but when I drag the desktop visualizer over the icons, the trash folder pops up and I cannot drop the desktop visualizer over the icons
Just drop the icon from desktop v as close as you can it will work, does not need to be perfect on top. See if that work if not I send you a new one.

Thanks for the credit, but as I stated in my concept design for this UI, I was commissioned to design this UI for another ROM developer. Therefor it's got a legal copyright. The interface mapping is proprietary but I'm curious if you have you come up with your own code for mapping this interface or is it just the launcher?

Just the wallpaper with out any mapping, we good to go as long the graphics are use as a wallpaper like the way is post here, thanks Zandog.
I installed the GO Launcher EX that came with the Google Apps RAR in the developer forum and noticed that I am unable to set my own custom wallpaper. I am only able to set a Live wallpaper or the default one that comes with GO Launcher EX. Anyone else have this problem?
When I attempt to do so, I go to the gallery, select my picture, crop and size it, then try to set it. It does the whole "Saving" thing but when returning back to the launcher, nothing has changed.
I've tried both from the Wallpaper option on "Menu" as well as under Theme Settings in GO Launcher EX.
Also, anyone know of a way to change the Amazon lock screen? The Amazon lock screen is still present after installing GO Launcher EX and will change the wallpaper to one of the random lock screen ones after turning off the screen and locking the device anyway...
Thanks in advance!!
EDIT: I should also note that I am rooted.
I have the same problem but am not rooted. I would love to disable Amazon's rotating wallpaper in favor of one of Go Laucher's.
I was planning on going into the system files and locate the folder its pulling the wallpapers from. Hopefully all we have to do is replace them with the wallpapers we like. Go launcher wallpaper doesn't shift left and right for me either when screen moving.

the problem seems to lie in the Fire's own stock lock screen. given the fact that it is rooted, see if you can disable the stock lock screen (using No Lock from the android market) and replacing it with something like Go Locker or WidgetLocker (though some say WidgetLocker doesn't work well)

The wallpaper for the launcher is located in the launchers apk. The wallpapers for the lockscreen are in framework-res.apk the standard place for an aftermarket launcher to pull wallpapers from is framework-res.apk (correct me if I'm wrong. The rom would pretty much have to be custom to fix this. Therefore it would be best for us to get a working recovery(twrp or clockwork using short presses to move through menus and long presses to select) then focus on ICS or HC(probably better off ICS) so we have a soft home, menu, back button.
Then changing wallpapers would be a breeze.

I got no lock to work. Same solution used to get Android Market to work. Get Titanium Backup installed (need the paid version) and you can use it to change the installed No Lock app to a system app. Reboot and it works fine. Will need to have your Kindle Fire Rooted.
Ok, Now I have No Log working, but how do I replace the Lock Screen?
GO Launcher EX wallpaper, make it stick
It's not a question of disabling the locker; regardless of whether the phone locks or not, the default Kindle slider screen appears on wake-up, and after sliding, the default Kindle wallpaper is there instead of GO Launcher's wallpaper.
I, too, am greatly annoyed by this.
If pyrostic is right, then regrettably there's no simple way to fix this. Which would suck. (Many of us are not developers.)

It won't stay after you restart.
Benjyp's procedure worked for me. I posted more specifics about what you can do about them.

OK. I've got the wallpapers to not change back to the Amazon ones by changing permissions on the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper file, but I can't get scrollable wallpapers to work. I'm using the long rainbow one that came with Go Launcher but it's fixed and won't scroll. I've tried changing the settings in Go Launcher to the Default setting (to allow scrolling wallpapers) but that didn't help.
Anyone else having this problem?
Would you mind sharing how you changed permissions? I.e. what app used and changed from/to what?
My mom downloaded a live wallpaper and like the others, it keeps getting changed back.
so to stop it from changing wallpapers you have to root it?
yea gotta root to stop it from changing wallpapers. I feel like a solution will come out that doesnt require root...hopefully

Hey guys just wondering how I could place another folder of wallpapers under this setting option below, incase I'm not explaining this correctly I'm talking about the menu where it allows you to set no wallpaper , live wallpaper, and gallery. I'm running Soa build 4 by ptmr3.
Edit: aha I figured it out I need to create my own apk containing my wallpapers.
Thanks.
