Actually we've heard the 24th from other "sources" as well. Without any hard proof, or an official VZ announcement, right or wrong, you're post is just wasted space (as is mine admittedly)

The date of the 24th has actually been on numerous sites since at least yesterday (maybe longer but thats when I recall seeing it).
Ill post links once you state how why youre so sure. Otherwise, look it up yourself.

tazz, totally agreed, that date has been kicked around for likely longer than a week and ive seen it on droid life a million times, and several on phandroid, but this is nothing new, at this point i dont think any one single person can come out and say that they called it and got the date right. by now who gives a ****, its still a rock solid phone but i have heard so much about it that i feel like i already own the damn thing, there isnt a single spec i couldnt tell you. i will say this, i stopped in at my local best buy in knoxville,tn ant talked to the mobile dept. manager and he bet me his life that that the inspire 4g(really like 2.6g) had the same processor as the bolt, and he was right about that, but he told me the clock speed was 800mhz, i showed him at least 10 different spec sheets that proved him wrong, morons, all of them. the sad thing is he was very knowledgeable in actual android and even knew how to throw together some apps ansd code a little. on a different note, i played with the atrix while i was there and it had a sexy screen and for the first time in the existence of motoblur it actually ran buttery smooth although it still blows asshair compaired to sense or stock gizoogle android.

While I was stalking TazzPatriot when he was getting a mani/pedi, I heard the nail girl on a call with her BFF whose sister is dating a verizon vp and she said that it is for sure the 24th and that oh my god I like totally can't wait.

No. I only made this thread because I told them to call me for my replacement when the G2x problems have been solved.
I got a phone call they mentioned all that ****.
I dont believe them but the fact that they called me back to tell me this 2 weeks later and so i can get my replacement is pretty bad ass.
So we will see what happens when I get the new G2x

This is right, we honestly have no idea when this is coming. I check our internal information DAILY and nothing has been updated. It comes when it does, anyone who gives you a solid date is wrong as of this moment.
Well, if you do receive a G2x with the update, you can post the files for us then.

First and most importantly, Google just acquired Motorola's mobile phones division for $12.5 billion. That means that they are gonna be a major hardware manufacturer and the phones that they make will probably be able to handle Android better than the rest of the competition.
Also, don't forget that 2011 is the year of the rabbit. The rabbit is a swift little creature and it doesn't like to get caught.
If we compare cyanogemod to the rabbit, and then compare that to google's purchase of Moto's mobile division, then we can clearly see that there's no connection between any of these things.
So long story short, yes, we still don't know. We're all just sitting tight.

Very understandable. In the time I've been with this forum, I've seen a lot of that going on and it's ridiculous. Internet browsers should pop up a notice saying "Don't forget the search feature!" when somebody opens a new tab or window lol

My main issue is not the hardware of the phones but rather the dev community, right now I have a Captivate and that community is fairly active. So how is development for the Infuse?

Daayum...lol. I would say right now the community has slowed down since the sgsII was released, but as soon as official GB comes out, a lot of roms will get updated and newer dev's will be cooking up new roms.

If you want a phone that has a bigger screen amd looks a little better then go with tbe infuse. If you can not stand giant phones and want super powers go with the GS2. If you want a little of everything, (me) wait for the Prime or galaxy nexus whatever it will be called.

Given on-contract pricing? Assuming the Rogers variant is as similar to the I9100 as the I777 is, GS2 without a doubt.
The Infuse is a hybrid bastard child that's somewhere in between the original GS and the GS2, with a bunch of weird crap (like a Bluetooth and GPS chipset NO ONE else on the planet seems to use) thrown in. It's a developer's nightmare.
I didn't realize how bad it was until a week with the GS2. The GS2 doesn't have any of the stupid proprietary modules the Infuse had in the kernel. The GS2 uses a more standard and common Bluetooth chipset. The GS2's GPS chipset is vastly superior. Most importantly - the I777 is so similar to the I9100 that tracking Samsung's fairly rapid and regular updates and porting them over to the I9100 is pretty easy. With the Infuse, we have nothing to track - so if a carrier (like yours) releases ****ty firmware and never updates it, we spend months waiting for slightly less ****ty firmware.
God I hate the CG2900, god I hate UXKG3...

Its looking like after rebates its going to be $0.01 CAD also I would have to wait for the GS2 as its not out on Rogers yet but is coming. The Rogers variant is known as the i977 not sure what that entails to be honest.

Yeah I actually work for Rogers, our POS lists the device as a SGH-I977 which isnt surprising because there are slight variations for instance I have a Captivate which on AT&T is an I897 but my Canadian Captivate is an I896

The SGS2 is not enough of a bump in technology to persuade me to give up my infuse. The infuse rocks and does have a growing community of wonderful devs.

Just wanted to say hello as a newb who's hoping to learn a lot viewing these forums as I already have just creepin around. Well for all the newbies just read and search through the dev forum for info...at this point if you have a question its probly already been answered so don't post in the dev section unless you have drv related things to post about. The general forums also can answer the rest of your questions. So use the search button and no one will hate you
