Hey guys. Here's the official Gingerbread 2.3.4 that Krylon360 posted. Huge EPIC thanks to him for finding this build and to Chainfire for decrypting it. Without them we wouldn't be here. ^^

I'll shoot Whitehawk then... Muahahaha. Nah, just an overall trend I've noticed with the devs lately, last month there were still titles with Odin/CWM in it. The easiest way to check was with the bible since golmar separated them but he's been busy so the bible's more than a week old now.

Can someone give me proper direction on flashing this with CWM, like mounts and everything else. This is exciting.

So this comes with root and i can flash it off the bat, cause i'm on Audiophile Redux right now, and all i have to do is disable voodoo before flashing? Is there still the really confusing bootloader stuff?

How do I flash if I have gingerbread with no bootloaders? Please advise

2. Reboot into red CWM
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe Dalvik Cache

yea. beeen off here lately. mom got surgery today and had a horrible day yesterday. i was so worried about her that i cried at school and didnt go to classses. im staying home tomorrow too to help her. she had staph infection.

sorry guys. i was testing something. ok. so i am gonna reupload with these changes:
newest busybox added. also added automatic zipalign at boot. (for apps that are in data/app)

i found a way to manually fix su, and have the newest su binary in xbin. but all the current infuse kernels have the 2.3.6.1-ef binary in their initramfs. ill need to talk to entropy and ask if he can change that in his kernel.

[Q] Flashing a different kernel?

Since I am kind of new, but have flashed a few ROM's to date with no issues, I wanted to ask before I fubar'd something.
Also, I have searched for the answer to this question but I have yet to find a clear cut answer.
When flashing a different kernel to a ROM, I download the kernel in .zip format and place it on my SD. I boot into red recovery. Do I just flash the kernel like I would a ROM with the exception of clearing DATA/CACHE? Same goes for modems?
I appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer.

Yes or you can get SMS Kernel flasher from the market and not worry about going into recovery unless your flashing a modem or rom

Your answer forces me to ask another question in regards to flashing modems.
When/if I need to flash a modem is that when I need to go into red recovery and install zip from SD or is there a special procedure for flashing a modem? If so, I will go looking for the specific instructions.
However, if you cared to post them in a response I would greatly appreciate it.

Whats the benefit of flashing a diff Kernel? What exactly does a kernel do? and yes i am a noob (see my post count) I wanna be able to understand why i am or am not gonna do this in the future.

In non-technical terms that you will probably get because of the question...this so u can understand...its what runs and controls your entire os and user interface...the heart of the software

So, when u build a ROM do u put a updated kernel in it? Why would i need to update the kernel?

Drivers...ui interface...all around performance and tuning...I am not a kernel dev ..I'm a rom dev...entropy or bedwa can get more in depth...

Some kernels also allow for overclocking/undervolting but give up bt and/or HDMI out
Check out gbinfuse and entropys dd in the dev section. The threads make for good bedtime reading

t989 to skyrocket conversion

Just wondering....if anyone is using this. Can u flash a att kernel after u flash the conversion. The stock kernel stinks. Slow. no BLN support. Thanks

Udon't really need that conversion kit. Just flash the t989 rom u want in cwm and flash the kernel u like best right after, then reboot. faux 010m is my favourite, then reboot. As a precaution though, make sure you read all the threads kn flashing in the dev section before u brick ur phone

The kit merely contains a stock at&t SR /boot and a gps.conf file. Nothing special.

Ya. I've been around this site a while. Flashed roms kernels modems etc...on my captivate infuse and now skyrocket. So I have some experience. Alot of bricks so I know all about them. Do u have a link for that kernel u use? Thanks for ur help

Might b a stupid question but is there any way to flash a 989 rom and use the kernel with it instead of flashing a 727 kernel? Or is that brick city? Kernels always scared me

Shouldn't brick but you will have unique screen orientation till you flash a kernel that's made for your device like what was just linked on the page before this

Already did. Its OK. Flashed beastmod ex 5.0. Not as fast as it probably should b because of the difference in kernel. Was just curious what would happen if I tried to run it the way it comes. Thanks

If you are already flashing things in CWM, flashing a kernel is cake, like my name says. Just honestly, flash the ROM, wipe the caches, flash the kernel and do a jig. If anything goes wrong you'll still be able to boot back into CWM and re-flash something else. As long as you aren't using ODIN to flash a boot / kernel you have nothing to worry about.

Well after soft bricking my phone and some help from some friendly ppl i got it back...only question is after getting it back the kernal is a kj1...now i want to go back to the setup i had before just a little fuzzy one if i can or not...my old build was kj6 antonX's kernal, rom and lz...these are all on my sd card already some can i just flash from cwm or do i need to change it to kj6 first before i flash the rom, kernal, and lz
