I have a WordPress site that I am wanting to enclose in an android app and I wanted to see if there was a way I could use some sort of a wrapper for this? I looked at feed.nu and it is good, but it does not allow me to use all the functionality of my WordPress site.

I have recently stumbled across Oilcan, the greasemonkey style browser for android http://www.jsharkey.org/blog/. I've tried it and the default stuff is all very impressive, and to be honest i wanna use it. But its not fully finished, and the Dev has just been employed by google and seems to have abadoned the project. The browser is basic, it appears to be based on an old version of the google browser.
Whats the future of this application? since it was a proof of concept. The only futures i can see are;
he continues development by himself - unlikely
he adds this functionailty nativily to the google browser - unlikely as he's very smart and likely to be on other more interesting projects
The community take up the slack (thats us) use he's code and create a super brower - what i'd quite like to happen. the source is available, and it appears to be quite simple. I think that if it was to be patched into the jf1.41 multitouch brower it would be a killer application.

anyone considering this? these are pretty cool features.
well personally im studying the oilcan code, mostly for the user scripts aspect and it seems fairly easy to implement, and so im hacking away the other features to begin with as i dont see much of a use for filling in forms using my android contacts or scanning barcodes and getting there values. So basically im removing the intent code.
My plan is to edit the main browser to add in the userscript functionailty, but im new to the android platform so it could take a while. I can program in java though which gives me a good head start.
Anyone else interested in helping out?

They got some cool scripts on their website that I would like to use but do they work with the g1? It says some will but the top says scripts for firefox. Also... how would we apply the scripts on the g1? Does the app look for them on the sd or what?
EDIT: Nevermind it says you can load them from the sd or browse to them yourself

He released this like a month ago before he went to work for google. It was a nice proof of concept but he was done working on it and was asking for someone to take it over.

It would be nice if someone picked up where he left off, because OilCan 1.0 is buggy as hell. I'd like to see it built into Steel.

this is my first Android App, so please bear with me if there are still errors. It was a major task to start Android programming with such a tough idea, but well, I did not say I started programming with this app
DroidReader is a PDF Reader Application. It uses native code in the background, to be specific, it uses the MuPDF rendering software/library. I'm aware of existing closed source PDF readers and some approaches to do it all in Java. So this should be different as for now.
DroidReader is Free and Open Source Software (licence is GPL v3).

(I'm sorry, I can't post a full link as of now, as I'm still a "new user" on this forum, despite reading it since years... so please remove the spaces for now, I think I'll get that settled soon.)
Note for users: This application needs a file manager in order to open PDF files. Generally, you should be able to use a file manager of your choice and just click on the PDF. If you want to use the "Open" menu item, then a filemanager that understands the openintent.org's PICK_FILE intent is needed, e.g. the OI File Manager.
This App needs at minimum the Android 1.5 platform.

Similar approach in another project
Hi again, I just became aware of a similar project (well, as I said: I did this to learn Android programming as well, so this doesn't mean my time was wasted). I hope that we can combine our efforts soon. It is also at Google Code (and I still cannot post Links) and it is called "Android PDF Viewer", and has a short Acronym which appears as project name in URLs: APV. It also uses the MuPDF library and is also GPLv3. Just for your information.
To have an android PDF reader with the capability to make annotation and highlights is the most important thing. Apple has that software called "iannotate" and it manages it perfect. Android should have one. Is ther any expert working on this?
Best reader for Pandigital Novel
DroidReader is the best PDF reader I've found for use on the Pandigital Novel (hacked). All the others require one to drag your finger to move from page to page. That isn't as handy as the next and previous buttons. Adobe's reader is useless because it doesn't let you jump to a page.
I wish you'd enhance DroidReader to remember the last page in a PDF. I've also found some pdfs it won't open, but Android PDF Viewer will. The problem with Android PDF Viewer is that it is SLOW (unless I'm using a different one than you are referring to). It is so slow that it is unusable on the Novel.
Thank you for the feedback. I think I can manage to finally hack a bit further on this and your suggestion is certainly among the easier things still in the pipeline. I got a bit distracted recently, but I'm still motivated to further improve Droidreader. Being distracted, I am also not very up-to-date as to what's the fastest PDF reader available... I think in about two weeks, some development efforts should been done... I'll update this thread then!
Does anyone know of a PDF reader that allows for macros? I'm an engineer and my schematics are in pdf but have macros that allow you to click on a link that allows you to jump to another page with that specific signal. Would be useful for my work use.

It appears i found an app that allows for in pdf linking. qPDF which is a great app so far. I will see how it works over time. I still haven't found anything that supports javascript
Do you use Zendesk? if not, What kind of ticket system do you use to support your Apps?
I am thinking about creating a Wordpress website that connects to ZenDesks API instead of using ZenDesk (cause its ugly) What do you guys say?
