Database Info

Stuck at 1X data.

For the past few hours I've been stuck in at 1X. I've tried wiping data, going back to stock, pulling the battery, pulling the SIM card and still have no luck. It sits at 1X and will go to 3G for a second and then drops it and goes back to 1X. I was flashing some ROMs earlier (BAMF 1.5, 1.5 Remix and CM7 pre-alpha) and the problem seemed to start when I flashed back to rooted stock. I flashed back to BAMF 1.5 and it's still sitting at 1X.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: Engadget has confirmed that there is a nation wide LTE outage for TB users.

Where are you located? I just made a thread....same thing is happening to me and it's driving me nuts. I'm in NJ and i'm on stock thunderbolt.

I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

Same thing going on in Florida.

Must be a network issue then. Hopefully this clears up soon.

Atleast I can tell you you're not alone.
I'm in the same boat with 1x only, and I'm on a stock rom. call can be received and placed though, so some positive there.

Well can't rely on verizon at 2 in the am lol. But my friend has a Black Berry and his 3g seems fine.

Hmmm maybe they tried pushing an update and messed something up just for the t bolt? Don't quote me on that, as that guess is a shot in the dark. I just don't know why or how it's affecting the tbolt all over the states. If 3g is fine for other phones SHOULDN"T ours be good as well? Just tryin to understand and maybe learn a lil something.

Maybe it has something to do with the LTE sim card and something they are doing to the network. Because I'm using 3g on my laptop right now.

LTE Issues in Los Angeles?

I'm at USC in LA, and since yesterday my phone has been having issues connecting to LTE. I haven't heard any news of outages,though, so I'm wondering if something is borked with my phone. I was on CM7, but I tried going completely back to stock and still no dice. Is anyone else having LTE issues?

haven't heard of anything but gaving the same issues since yesterday. In the Burbank area.

Oh, good — then maybe there's a chance that it's not just my phone. Even 3G sometimes drops out, and nothing comes up for LTE Only except 1X.
Weird that nobody is reporting anything, though.

if you are using the radio from chingys leak that is the problem,best one I found for la is the original ota update radio

I think it was an outage because 4G kept flickering all day yesterday and now it seems steadily on today without me changing anything. Thanks for the suggestion though.

there's no LTE yet where i am, but every now and then the 3G will cut in & out for about a day or so(and get stuck at 1X). whenever i call Verizon about it they'll either say there's work being done in my area or an area nearby and just said they could transfer me to a tech to see if there's something on my phone not set correctly or will just give the b.s. "pull your battery for 30 seconds" bit.

I'm at USC as well and didn't notice any issues. I was on MR2.5 and flashed the new 802 radio last night which seems even better connection and speed-wise. What radio are you using?

I'm in West LA, on the latest leak, no issues at all yesterday or today.

Currently running on 1x like a boss. Wait a minute that ain't good 4g down on the east side of the city.

Tampa Florida here and I have 3g but its about the speed of 1x and its not stable. Comes and goes sometimes I get the lame 1x too.

same here, it hit about a hour ago. I been reflashing radios and different roms. I think its due to the new cities being added to the 4g network

3G and LTE is out for me too in LA. I'm using 1.48.00.0726w and 0.01.78.0802w_3

currently only 1x and 3G in Vancouver, WA for the past few hours.

LTE is back up. Not sure how long that will last though

11/16 data outage

FYI:
I thought I lost my radio today, but there's a sporadic issue for 4G devices in non 4G areas that do not have 3G data access. I finally called CS for an update, and apparently 4G is also down in the TX/Gulf area with no ETA. txt (no attachments) and phone calls still work.
All my friends at work had data today, I was one of the lucky ones

I have been out all day. No 4g or 3g at all. Got 1x for a few minutes but went away and still down.

Data's fine here in LA just the usual dropouts

funny you posted this i was just about to do it myself i thought my sim fried or something so i flashed back to stock took it to verizon and they told me that it is down for 4g devices they can;t even activate 4g devices so i would lose my voice and text if i switched sim i live in salt lake btw...

3G is fine here in Fort Worth, couldn't tell you about 4G because I'm in CDMA only right now and too lazy to change.
EDIT: 4G is working fine too.

haahah right?! got to love those drop outs..its worst in an area that has bad 4g coverage..it will usually just stay in 3g but sometimes i get 4g...when im in a FULL 4g area i rarely get dropped out...

Working fine here in Madison, WI.

Same here... LTE is dead and 4G is cutting in and out.
Tried several different radios and get the same result.

One of my friends in Florida texted me awhile ago complaining about LTE cutting in and out. Apparently it was just a fluke. My LTE here in Indiana is fine.

My LTE here in Dallas is horrible right now. I can't even run a speed test on it.
I have restarted phone, shut down, even battery pulled and nothing.

Yep. I am in Dallas and my LTE is painfully slow. Cannot connect to mail or download any apps.

Called AT&T and there is a data connectivity issue being worked on(at least for Plano/Little Elm/Frisco area.

Conway, AR here... I'm having terrible connectivity on HSPA+. I was actually about to change my radio. I'm using the note radio but until today I never had a problem with it. seems like I'm not the only one with issues.

Call AT&T and get added to the problem list. The more people who report it, the higher the severity it gets and the more people they assign to fix it.

Been on the phone with them for 45 minutes. They reset their end. had me check my apn's (fine of course), factory reset (pain in the a$$), and now they told me I can stop by a store and get a new sim card. They claim to have no issues in the area. kinda a pain really!
*by lack of connectivity pretty much I cant access any webpages. not even sure if I can get an mms.. kinda sucks. I doubt it has to do with the note modem I have been using. I'm flashing the new leaks modem UCLD2 to see if that helps.

Similar as above, woke up and data was being ridiculous. Full signal with LTE but I had no data service. Couldn't MMS, surf, etc.

I would not have done a factory reset cause that has nothing to do with it. If your service was fine yesterday and is crap today, it's their network.

Curious what radio and rom are you using? I find it odd that we are all having connectivity issues. They told me they don't have any problems with the network in my area.

Yeah I'm in Dallas and LTE is barley functioning. Took about 20 minutes to get to this thread (oh how I wish I was exaggerating). I don't even want to guess how long its gonna take to post this once I'm done typing xD

Ok, so here's what I did...
When I started having the issues this morning I was on NexusMod Beta 3 with the UCLC5 modem. I then downloaded the new modem UCLD2 and flashed it... Still no good. so I called AT&T (see brief post above)... then I figured I'd try a new rom. I downloaded the new Sky ICS UCLD2 base followed the instructions there (even reflashed the UCLD2 modem). Still no luck so I reflashed the UCLC5 modem. Now I have connectivity again. I'm going to be watching it closely over the next few hours. Not sure if this will help anyone but It's so far working for me.

My friend at AT&T just texted me, issue resolved.

I am one of the people who have had a hard time getting good 4G service even though I'm in a. great 4G area. Today I noticed that if I reboot my phone in the area I wish to receive 4G service I get a super-fast 4G connection!
Now, that is great news but why can't my phone do this without a reboot? Does anyone know why this happens?

No, I didn't and thanks for the idea. But the phone should be able to do this on its own, right?

I have to toggle airplane mode when in a spotty 4g area. I hope a new radio will help with making a more seamless switch.

What do you mean new radio?

I'm more curious why I was getting speeds upwards to around 34d/l and 24upload before (just a few weeks ago when they flipped the switch for 4g)... and i'm getting weird but constantly lower ranges from 5-20d/l to 8-15upload...
still faster speeds than 3g here, but just odd...

To be more specific (not sure if you know or are curious) a new radio hopefully will report greater signal for your respective area. New radios typically come with ota updates and users may notice greater data speeds and network signal.

Download from Google Play - Phone Info and do it manuallly

I've been having the same issues within buildings. Definitely a cycle of airplane mode will help once you leave the building and/or have moved locations.

Had the same problem too. I went to another city without 4G and came back home and tried to watch some YouTube. Noticed right away that YouTube was buffering. Initially thought that maybe Verizon was throttling me. My speed was from 0.5 to 3 Mbps max. Restarted phone and did speed test; speed went back up to 10 Mbps. That made me happy again.

Well we have some people who have posted the radio updates on the forums here, and I don't think they touch the bootloader (not 100% though), so assuming Verizon does push an OTA for new radios tied with a re-locked bootloader, it'd only be a matter of time before XDA figures out how to install only the radio update.

I bought 3 SGIII's and noticed right away that mine was not getting as good of 4g as my two daughters. Long story short, after 2 weeks I got an new phone with the updated VRALG. Was better but not great. Verizon Reps stated it was a known problem with som SGIII's.
Now I am running Synergy ROM and 4G is alot less problematic, even better than both my daughters most of the time. If I do have a problem I will cycle Airplane mode and it fixes it. My 2 cents

I feel like there's something wrong with my phone. The signal is week and I'm getting abysmal speeds. Like .2mb per sec downloading something. I'm also in a highly populated area where 4g seems to be strong here

Has it been like that since you got it?

Well when I first got it the sim card wouldn't activate so the customer service guy had to force it twice to get it to work. The speed will go up in different areas but not by much

One of these days Sammy will just pay moto for their 4g radios. This issue u guys are having along with data drops in strong 4g have plagued vzw gnexs

If its really that bad. Its a hassle but it'll work...
Dial *#*#4626#*#* or download the "Phone Info" app shortcut, and it'll take you to the same area.
There you can select your radios, Dont mess with anything besides the drop down box with the preferred networks. Set to LTE Only, (defualt is LTE/CDMA/Evdo) when you are in LTE only mode, you should get pretty blazing fast internet. But your SMS/calling outbound and inbound wont work while this is activated.
As for an actual fix... You just need expirament with the different radios... On my Old bionic phone, i remember it was getting really spotty 4g, more than usual. A clean wipe seemed to alleviate the issue. I can't explain why it would it just did...
