[Q] USB Tether App

Since Verizon will start to charge extra for tethering on June 15th, I am looking for a free app to tether via USB.
I tried android-wired-tether since I have root access, but that app does not work.
I am aware of pdanet, easytether and tether for andriod, but all are paid apps.
If there is not a free usb tether app, what is the best free working wifi one for the droid charge?
Thanks!
I would recommend Klink tether they have a free and a paid version. Its way better. Also the developer of the app responds quickly if you have problems. Hope that helps

I really like "Open Garden Wifi" for wifi tethering. many people really seam to like Barnacle Wifi Tether also.
I have been using PDAnet for usb tether and wireless tether (root) for wifi.
Both seem to have been working good on the Charge.
I used them both with the Fascinate for months.
I just bought my charge a few days ago and recently rooted with the new altered beast ODIN ROM. Is there any tether software that doesn't require a client installation on the tethered computer, or maybe just the phone drivers?

WIFI tether options don't require any software on the client, just a working wireless card and OS that supports Wifi (can't think of one that doesn't)...
Wireless tether for root users is what I use
Barnacle is another free option
I am sure there are more....

I have the stock rom from Orange on my HTC Sensation and when using the portable WIFI Hotspot, my laptop see's the phone and connects when I input the key, but doesn't seem to use phone's 3g for internet.
Whilst laptop is connected to phone, I can still get the internet on the phone so I know the 3g is working, but still no internet on laptop????
Has anyone else tried using their phone as a portable wifi hotspot on their Sensation and say a laptop for internet?
Any help would be appreciated,

yes it works on my tmobile us but i have tethering in my plan, maybe thats why its not working. On my girlfriend phone she tried it and tmobile block the feature because she didn`t have a tethering plan they let you use it at first then the block it, they did it to me.I called and found out that they will block it after awhile if you dont call in and get the plan some rep told me somtimes they just add it to your next bill if they see that your using internet sharing wich is tethering.

[Q] Hello! WIFI Tethering issues

Hello I have a rooted NS4g. and i use the wireless tether app to tether to my laptop but i notice that when i connect my macbook it shows me "Androidtether" under devices instead of a access point(like a router) and i started to notice that certain devices do not recognize the NS4g WIFI signal because of it coming up as a device and not a access point. can someone please help me fix that so that i show it come up as a router so that my nintendo 3DS or PS3 can connect to it. Thanks, i also have another question i downloaded the tethering fix patch to have the built in native tethering software work. well when i turn it on i loose my 4g signal is that normal? dosent seem to connect 4g when i do that and just stays 3g. please anyone if you have any info help guide me in the right place
You have it setup as adhoc mode. You need to change it to infrastructure. The native tethering app does not work with 4g.

how to do i change from ad hoc to infrastructure? is there an option within the "wireless Tether app" that will allow me to do that? thanks for the fast reply. just want to get this going . I had my Evo 4g before and never had This issue. Thanks again.
If you don't see the option under settings more than likely that app only supports adhoc mode on the nexus s. I know on the EVO you can switch modes.

If it's rooted, the easiest way it to use Pete's fix. It works in infrastructure mode and no separate app is required - you can use the phone's built in wifi hotspot feature. You won't get 4G though...

Thanks for your guys help. is there any way that i can make the wireless tether app work by sending a infrastructure rather than a Ad Hoc?(i would like to Use 4G while i tether) my old Evo 4g was able to do that no problem. so im just wondering if its a Nexus s issue ?
Wireless tether works as ad hoc but the built in one works as infrastructure. The evo 4g is one of the few phones that can go into infrastructure mode with wireless tether. The majority of phones can only do ad hoc. I searched wireless tether settings and do not see a mode switch.

[Q] How to enable Wifi Tethering with MetroPCS

Hey, I just gota Nexus 5 phone yesterday, and I was planning on using wifi tether to connect my old phone and my ps3 to the internet. I'm able to create a mobile hotspot using the Nexus 5 settings, however I get no internet traffic. My PS3 tells me the connection times out. And my phone fails to log in.
Does anyone know if MetroPCS allows wifi tether? And if they don't, is there any way to bypass it. I'm on the $50 plan right now.
So I bought the $5 Mobile Hotspot service. It worked for a bit, But my wifi tether still did not consistently work. I eventually disabled it because of the issues.
Does anyone know what you have to do to get Wifi Tether up and running fully on Nexus 5 with MetroPCS service?
