[Q] vlingo website detects me as android 1.x - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

well, I tried the market and vlingo does not show up. i tried vlingo.com and they say that vlingo does not work on android 1.x. I tried amazon and it says vlingo is not compatible.
What is going on? My transformer is running 3.2, build US 8.6.5.9
Could it be that when i went from rooted to stock, something got screwed up?
I can d/l apps, everything seems to work.
Help! Thanks!
BKG
Update: Tried getjar, it sent me to the market and vlingo showed up for download, but when I tried to d/l, it also quit saying it was not compatible with my transformer.

I'm going to guess that it's not compatible with Honeycomb.
Just looked in the market, doesn't show as compatible with my TF. Works fine on my DX, but that's still on FroYo.

I use speaktoit. pretty awesome

I tried speaktoit also, and got the same thing, it refused to install, saying my android ver was not compatible.
But, and I don't know why, vlingo did install today. Very weird.

I emailed Vlingo a couple of months ago about this and they said that they were currently working on a honeycomb version - which now will probably just change to an Icecream sandwich version. Guess we will have to wait still.

speaktoit assistant does not show in my market. If I go to the online market, it says that speaktoit is not compatible with the TF. How did you install it?

Youtube apk from 2.0/2.1 on 1.5?

Well it's been a long while since the youtube app has worked on my phone. randomly plays videos, mostly doesn't. I know a lot of people have complained.. Well it seems that the youtube apps work in 2.0/2.1. Just wondering if anyone has tried installing those apps on 1.5? Will it work? Would love to have a working youtube app again until we get a fully working 2.1.
I would like to know this as well.
Try it! It probably won't, as I would imagine the newer apks designed for 2.0+ have dependancy for things we don't have in 1.5... but who knows.
All you have to do is download any 2.0/2.1 rom, pull the Youtube apk, load it onto your sdcard, then use a file manager to open and install it. If it installs and works, let us know!
Doesn't work..
confirmed. tried Youtube from 1.6 and 2.0 as well. wont install
i remember when there was the OTA update from sprint.. That is when the youtube app started acting up. Wonder if there was a change in the app? I'm just curious if maybe we could get that apk and install it if it's different. It's really annoying not having a working youtube app.
none of those 2.1 apps work on 1.5, even if you get it to install im sure it will barely work

Web based Android Marketplace

Check out the new web based android marketplace:
market.andrioid.com
Moved to general
Has anyone been able to install anything from there yet? I keep getting errors.
I have installed to my Nexus One.
My GTab shows up as a Malata. Guess that one's probably never going to have proper Market support. I can browse and install, but My Apps doesn't work.
If you get in, please let us know what your tablet shows up as and if your market is working properly.
I'm the other way around. I have a GTab (showing up as Nvidia/VEGAn-Tab) that shows up in my Market Account settings and that I appear to be able to download to (I'm at work and it's at home, but it appears as an option when the Market looks for compatible devices).
But my N1 is MIA on the Web Market. Doesn't appear as one of my devices. I've gone into the Market on my N1, downloaded an app, browsed around a bit, rebooted my phone, browsed around again, but it still doesn't appear in the Web Market.
My GTablet doesnt show up AT ALL... says I dont have a phone - which I do not.
Question for those of you that can download:
1. Do you own an android phone?
2. What fingerprint are you using?
3. What ROM are you using?
For me
1. NO
2. Mahmahi fingerprint that comes with Vegan
3. Vegan 5.1
My Droid Incredible running CM7 shows up and my Gtablet running Vegan 5.1. Tried to push some of the free apps and so far it installed no problem on my incredible haven't tried my Gtablet but I did send an app to it. It seems it detects what hardware it has and doesn't allow you install apps that use gps for example.
1. Yes
2. Malata G Tablet
3. BitTrix CM7 B04
I've been unable to find a single application that will let me install to the Tablet.
1. Yes - Droid (stock, not rooted) (shows up, apps install fine)
2. Passion/mahimahi (comes with TnTLite 4.2.1)
3. TnT Lite 4.2.1
Droid shows, works as intended. Gtab is NOT showing up at all.
I'm running CyanogenMod 7 on mine with pershoots kernal. Shows up fine as a Malata G Tablet, can download to it no problems, all my apps i've downloaded show up in my orders.
Only problem I've got is my Droid one isn't showing up. My guess is because I'm running Cyanogen 6.0 Stable with the old market. (waiting for a 7 RC to update to)
I see both my Motorola Droid and my VEGAn Gtablet listed....
checking around....tried a live wallpaper and it would only list my Droid (Gtab ghosted out).
Clicked on Yellow Pages app and it allowed me to choose either. I chose my Gtab and it pushed it right on down...
Not sure what it's reading for "compatibility" for devices....

My Droid shows up and I'm running my AOSP compiled ROM with the old Market. I have however at one point, compiled a new rom and tested the new Market App...though had other issues in my new compile and went back to my previous build.
From my gtab,
as I tried to install gun bros the only device that showed up was my nexus one.
Works for me. I am on stock TnT with market installed. It detected my gtab as Malata TnT-enhanced. Thanks for the link!
These are some very interesting results.
Changed my device in the settings to Viewsonic G-Tablet, I also have my Droid 1, I can now select my G-Tablet and send to it. Works so far. Running Vegantab 5.1 Clemsyn kernel 2.6.32.9
clicked on "My Market Account"
settings tab
Just changed my nickname (Viewsonic G-Tablet)
clicked update
not sure if that has anything to do with it. A few games wont install though not sure if its because I'm trying to install it on both devices.

Android Market
My tablet shows up as a Malata GTablet-TnT-Lite - I selected install and it installed the app I requested in less than 2 min. Be sure to give your tablet a nickname.. I can offer no reason why it worked so flawlessly for me.

So on the website it shows as installed but the app isn't showing up on my nexus one.
Tried rebooting but still nothing. It's not on my gtab either.
Under settings my Nexus one shows up and my gtab shows up as the Malata.
Mine also doesn't show up as anything. I was able to download, install and run apps.
1. No
2. G Tablet
3. Stock w/3588

Offical Netflix app released for us!!

http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/12/netflix-releases-android-app-for-select-htc-phones-samsung-nexu/
And it works!
Edit: My current setup is a AMOLD dinc, running CM7 with 2.3.3. 16GB msd in to.
Download from market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
Netflix is apparently blocking unsupported devices when you try to login, I uploaded the apk to my xoom to test it and it did not let me login.
I have the app and have not yet been able to get it to load. I just get a black screen.
However, I noted that the details on the market page state it is official for the Incredible running 2.2, and I'm running CM7.
Has anyone else tried with CM7?
Assuming there are indeed compatibility issues, I'm hopeful the devs will find a way to make it work, because I'm not looking forward to going back to stock, but I need Netflix.
(Actually. Right now, I'm thinking about loading up one of the dual-boot options with some stock Froyo. This is worth the effort.)
Edit: The dual-boot option is awesome and all... But then, I tried again in CM7, and I found that I spent a few hours heavily tweaking my phone for nothing but the thrill; the app works, and I was watching Ong Bak 3 in seconds. Since I don't need a Sense rom, I undid the dual-boot configuration.
So. Works on CM7.
Just saw this. Not showing up for me in the market. I assume its a CM7 thing.
Maybe we can find locate an apk.
Sent from my DInc
Just installed! Going to test now! Biggest app missing since switching from iPhone 4!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Here's a market link.

I am up and running on CM7.0.0.
Sent from my DInc
Im running evervolv and it works fine for me
Sent from my DInc
no it works. i had to scroll down in the market a bit to find it. i was able to watch a movie also
apk please!
Can someone pull the apk please? I know it probably won't work, but I can't wait to try running it on my DX and Xoom!
Installed from the market, but all I get is a black screen for a long time, then an FC...
CM 7.0.3
Just tested and it does stream on CM7.
Works fine for me as well.
CM7.0.3
running CM 7.0.2.1 DINC, and program will shut off right after I try to log in
If somebody could post the APK, Thunderbolt folks would be grateful. I know it is blocking unsupported devices, but our devs want to take a crack at it. Thanks!
I am on CM Nightlies and it doesn't work. Considering a move to 7.0.0.3 just for netflix.
Works for me on CM and my DInc
Here's the apk
Working on my DX!!!
I'm streaming Law and Order right now!
Greatest.
Day.
Ever.
(until it stops working again like last time hopefully not)
Xoom trial coming soon.....!!

Im getting the exact same thing on latest CM7 nightly
Running stock (rooted) 2.2 and mine force closes immediately after trying to launch the app. Somebody mentioned something about Flash 10.3 so I updated and still get force close. Any ideas?
Not sure if this info helps, but it works fine on mine:
CyanogenMod-7-04172011-NIGHTLY-Inc
[email protected] #1
Sorry, I'm not sure how that converts to the actual nightly number, but its what I was able to gleen out of the Rom Manager.

Text-To-Speech

Apparently this feature is acting up on other devices but was wondering if anyone had this working on their G2x and if so how did you manage to get it working?

What sort of issues are you having, and what ROM are you using? I had some issues with bluetooth and tts with CM7. I've switched over to EB 2.3.3, and all is working well.
Make sure you have everything you need installed.
Go to settings/voice input & output/text-to-speech settings/
If "Install voice data" isn't grayed out, click on that...it will take you to the market to download the voice engine.
I haven't noticed any problems with my tts, running my current ROM, but I also don't use Pico. I use Svox. It cost around $2-3 for the voice download, but it's much nicer than Pico.
Good Luck.
I'm running stock GB 2.3.3
I was hoping it would read text as they came in similar to the new WP7 Mango update but apparently the framework doesn't support that yet.
It takes me to the market, i download the application but then it uninstalls itself and shows that i have never downloaded the application before. I might install Faux123 rom and see if i can get it to work.

What app are you trying to d/l? I've never really tested out text message readers. I know Handcent will read the text, but IDK if you can set it to read as they come in.
I did test out Vlingo way back, and I must say...it was pretty good. I just don't like that it requires data usage (I'm on a limited data plan). But, for reading texts, Vlingo was pretty awesome. It even understood things like LOL (rather than say L-O-L, it would read it as "laughing out loud"). It even translated WTF, which of course made me laugh like a 12yr old kid.
I'm not downloading any. I was hoping the stock messaging application would do this as i kind of like the layout but sucks as far as security is concerned but that is an android thing.
I'll give the Vlingo a try and see if it works.
Thanks for the help.

Official Netflix App Now Supports Honeycomb

You should now be able to see it in the Market.
Current version is 1.5.0
No discernable changes from 1.4.1 though so not exactly a Honeycomb-optimized application yet.
Yeah a pleasant surprise to see it in my list of apps needing update.
The latest update to the Netflix app now officially supports access in Canada. Tested on my Transformer and Nexus S. It does not appear to be optimized for tablets in terms of taking advantage of the screen realestate, but at least it finally works without having to mess around with VPNs to access streaming outside the U.S.
I can't seem to find it on the Market anywhere even searching for Netflix doesn't come upwith anything
I have this problem with other apps. For me it was caused by the ROM that I was using. The Prime ROM seems to be better for me than the Revolution HD. What ROM are you using?
EDIT - just checked and my TF running Prime 2.0.4 doesn't show the app either.
EDIT 2 - Try the online market. It worked for me!

Yeah I saw the update in "My Apps" and it let me updated but it's not in the market.
Does show on the PC market
Still doesn't work on mine
downloaded with dolphin browser and installed. working for me, finally. I live in Canada too so i didnt have to go with going through a US server.
About Time!!
Man I'm so happy. No more side loading or patching!!
Great I was not having any luck with the VPN route ....
Glitchy playback.
So has anyone noticed that although the 1.5 version of Netflix's video is sharper, the play back is glitch compared to the 1.4.1 version?
It's so glitchy that I've opt to stay with the 1.4.1 and suffer the "update available" messages.
BTW, I'm running 3.2.1 unrooted version of HoneyComb.
