Superuser keeps crashing - HTC Sensation

Whenever I try to use any app that requires superuser permissions, I select allow and then superuser force closes. Please let me know what to do? Can someone upload or share a working copy to flash

So far what I've been doing is going into "Manage Applications" in the Settings menu, and uninstalling the most recent updates. I think something in the update is causing it to crash.

go on market and delete the update and everything should be fine

I found that when I set the permission notifications to display in the status bar, rather than an on screen toast, it stopped force closing.

If you can guarantee this, then I'd get in touch with chainsdd through twitter about it.

i had this problem too. what i did is go to settings on supersure and stead than having it with that pop up i just changed it to allow always and it works fine

Try flashing the older versions from here
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/
I flashed this one and it worked perfect... it's 2.3.6
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip

Uninstall update and turn off automatic update in the market.

Do not use superuser 3.0.5!That is really terrible!
Sent from my greatest Sensation 4G

It's really important to set the updates to "manual" in the market because if not superuser will constantly try to update itself and crash again.
Another working method is to disable the update daemon via autostarts (not sure wheater root is needed).

I was having the exact same problem as well. Uninstalled the update and now it works fine. Cheers.

Are you sure you have perma-root? Without it you won't get Superuser to work..

Thanks, this worked

Thanks. This worked. I tried uninstalling the update but that didn't help. Can't see any reason for this to work , but it does:good:.

[Q] How to prevent SuperUser from updating ?

May i know how do i stop the Superuser app from auto-updating ?
After updating, there's FC errors and cannot use app anymore.
Need to uninstall update everytime this happens.
Running Insertcoin 3.3.0 but i dun have the permission to ask question on the Dev section ( since i'm a XDA new member ).

Have you cleared the cache from settings/applications/superuser. Go there and clear cache and data there. Reboot and see if the SU app still fc's. That should correct the fc.

Hi
Go into market, search for super user, and you can untick allow automatic updates.
That should stop it until we get a proper fix.
the new update did the same for me, super user couldnt even open up without fc'ing let alone give any apps root access
Dun have the option to disable auto update .... Superuser is in my Rom ... Not installed from market.
Should I uninstall in titanium and reinstall from market ?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
If you have 3.0.5 built in, then yes you'd need to use TI. OR flash an earlier version from here:
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/
You have to use the one's with 'efgh' at the end

Hi,
Mine was in the ROM and I was able to look it up in the market and untick auto update.
If you UN install it, then install from market, you will have the bad update!
I wish I was at home.
I've got a flashable SU on my desktop.
Maybe you can wait till tonight when i get home...
DaDoctor responded in the coredroid thread that the superuser app update is borking a lot of roms and the current fix is to go to the app info on the market and uninstall the UPDATES and that should revert you to the prior version. Or you can titanium restore the prior version, that would work as well.
..
same thing with superuser.
problaby.. if i will run Root Explorer.. FC on rootex & superuser.
i am currently on 3.0.5
andy idea how to fix ??
Occasionally I've had problems with superuser also. Maybe an update gone bad or messing with whatever. It's maddening but actually the fix is so simple. Just re-install from recovery the file that you used to get superuser privaledges in the first place. "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" It may fail (aborted) once, twice, hell, even took a fifth time before successful for me before but it will eventually work. It's that simple. Just re-superuser yourself with that file and all is well in the superuser world again.
I think I will stick with uninstalling updates from application .... When dc pops up again
Flashing in recovery poses a risk ... It's juz me

[Q] Contacts Force Close

This all started about 4 or 5 days ago. I noticed when trying to add a new contact, the app would just sit there like it was loading. So I close it and open the 'Contacts' to add them and right away i get the error message "Contacts has stopped unexpectedly..." i go to Rom Manager to try to fix the permissions but i get an error message there also and it wont let me fix them. Anyone know what this would be?
I'm rooted, but have the stock rom installed still. I have done nothing special to the phone other than rooting it.

also check the permission of the 3rd party apps you install.. sometimes it complicate things.. thus wiping your data removes user data from your installed apps...

com.noshufou.android.su has stopped unexpectedly

Hi,
i have a little problem which is pretty annoying.
I did flash some ROM´s but i always had some issues.
Now i flashed InserCoin and it´s good for me.
There is just this 1 PROBLEM:
whenever i start an app which needs su-rights the superuser says this:
process com.noshufou.android.su has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again
I deleted this file but it didnt help.
I did a factory reset, i wiped chache and dalvik, i deleted sd-card...
Any ideas??
The new SU is the issue.
Install updates to SU.
I think 3.0 or 3.0.2 are ok.

Fixed.
You need to go back to version 3.0 or 3.0.2 as stated. Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Super User/Uninstall Updates
Also disable automatic updates for the program in the market.

YES!!!
I installed 3.0 and it works now.
Thank you very much

Something up with the stock SU on this build.
Some people are saying that they simply updated the SU binary and fixed it.
I downloaded SuperSU from the Play Store. Installed it. Opened it. Let it update. Then disabled the stock SU.
Worked like a charm

I've had this issue also, but changing the app I use didn't help...going to redo everything tomorrow but instead of going from entropy's build to 4.2...going to take the extra step of going to 4.1 first...only thing I haven't tried and from what I saw in another thread it worked, so hopefully that's all it is...will post when I try it but figured I'd pass on what I saw in another thread here
After going to the 4.1build first, I haven't had a single issue...

Setting -> Apps (under Device) or... From your home screen hit Menu button -> Manage Apps.
Then swipe over until you see All at the top of the screen.
From there, when you click any App, you can disable, uninstall (not stock apps, typically), clear App Cache, etc. You'll see
I usually kill things like browser (I use Chrome and FF), stock gallery(I flash Photosphere), and some wallpaper choices and things I don't use.

I'm having the same issue. It downloads successfully, boots into recovery, the progress bar gets maybe a third of the way, and then the icon changes to one that makes me think its an error, then it aborts and reboots, there's no message or anything. I used to be rooted, but not anymore (used superSU unroot)

Yes. Though I unfroze before unrooting. I just disabled some system apps (with the builtin thing) I'll try reenabling everything
Re-enabled all the bloatware, no luck.
