Great! You're essentially rooted. Something just messed up during the ROM modification phase. You need a clockworkmod recovery and then you can install any custom ROM you want. Here's a PD98IMG version of CWM Recovery:
http://hoxnet.com/droid/PD98IMG_cwmrecovery.zip
Move or copy this to your SDCard and rename it exactly "PD98IMG.zip" put it back in your phone and reboot to HBOOT. It'll scan the sdcard, find the image, and prompt you to install the image. From there, you can reboot to recovery and install a custom ROM. You may need to wipe data depending on the ROM. If you are dead set on keeping your data intact, then there may be a way depending on what happened and how far the rooting process got. You can jump into the IRC channel and we can work you through it:

[Q] HTC Sensation can not be updated

Hello XDA-DEV-Team
I have bought a HTC Sensation over Ebay a few weeks ago, no problems so far, and im excited to use it. Also means i dont know what is installed on the phone (for example, i dont know which recovery, if it is rooted, if it is s-on/off, and what ever could explain the problem I am describing below), but if you tell me what to look for, I'll do my best to find it out for you.
I am recently recieving an message that i need to update my System: The update is called: 1.45.163.4 (43,19 MB) - Android 2.3
If I update my HTC Sensation it says it has to restart, then it restarts and then after 5-6 seconds i can see the following picture: - ok i cant post links yet - i get a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark and blue android guy beneath it.
img580 dot imageshack dot us/img580/7650/fone.png
Is there any chance that i can update my phone?
do you plan to root and gain s-OFF?
that is a a screen before recovery, you manually have to hit the key combo to go into recovery, or thats the screen to see its its progress updating,
if you can boot into the bootloader by pressing Vol down and power
if you see s-off or "revolutionay" means your s-off if you dont see that means your fully stock

what you have there is a s-off and rooted phone, if you go into recovery you should see a blue menu with a list of options at top should say "CWM recovery", go to the DEV section and choose a rom of your liking
(i recommend LEEdroid) and
thats the reason why you cant update, you are running a rooted phone with a custom recovery
Hello Sir,
Thanks ALOT for your help! you really I helped me, i installed LEEdroid now and it looks really nice and smooth!
thanks alot, i am a diffrent person now thanks to you.

first flash 3.33 universal firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
follow the instructions to the letter
and before flashing check md5 sums(important)
after that you have to flash an ics or jb rom from recovery because your current rom won't boot with the new firmware

HTC Inspire stuck in Hboot, no recovery, S-OFF

First off, I know there are a lot of posts with this problem. Mine seems to be slightly different or I'm just stupid. (Probably the latter) Anyway, Desire HD stuck at hboot. S-OFF, cant get into recover either. SD card is blank. Here is what it says at the screen.

and a date.
Also, I usually pay people to root my phone but I cant do it this time around. I updated the ROM and now this. Please help! I can pay you if you can figure it out.
Thank you so much
Push recovery to your phone using fastboot or find a Rom in pd98img format and flash through hboot. Then you can flash recovery through Rom.

zel even made a thread. Download one of those stock/rooted roms. Rename it PD98IMG.zip. Put it on your sd (you'll obviously need a card reader of some sort as your phone won't mount as usb storage at hboot) and flash through bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385016
Once it's running, install ROM Manager and flash clockwork mod recovery (or 4ext, whatever you prefer). Now you have custom recovery and can flash other roms

[Q] HTC Sensation won't boot past HTC screen

New to development... (hence the problems!!)
Followed online guide through HTCDEV to unlock HTC Sensation. Rooted phone and was trying out some custom ROMs which I managed with no major problems albeit I could not get the WiFi to connect (kept giving error message) i assumed this was a Custom ROM issue so changed to another.
I had made Nandroid back-up, which worked fine on the first restore attempt. unfortunately, now it just says MD5 mismatch so I cannot restore to my original working ROM.
Problem now is that I cannot get any of the ROMs I flash to boot past the White HTC screen. Advice on where to go from here much appreciated?

Hi,
Did you change the name of the nandroid backup?
If so,you must leave NO GAPS in it...
Check THIS THREAD
Thanks for the reply Malybru...
The thread lloks great and I'm sure now that as my phone has been unlocked through HTCDev and remains S-On that the Boot.img is the issue. Only snag is that now that I cannot get the phone to boot, I cannot connect it through USB to the computer to Flash the boot.image across. As I previously mentioned, I cannot get the Nandroid backup option working (I didn't change the name?) so I cannot seem to get out of my 'bricked' state!!
Any help greatly appreciated...

Hi,
Try to install 4EXT recovery from HERE
And when you have installed 4ext then remember to go to "tools" and enable "smartflash" every time you flash a rom. As it says in the guide.. Good luck..
NO joy i'm afraid - I cannot seem to get 4Ext onto the phone. It will happily open HBoot and CWM but no amount of trying allows me to get further

In your OP you get wifi errors because of kernel not being flashed as you are S-ON (HTCDEV unlock only unlocks certain partitions) and your booting issues seems to be coming from a boot.img/kernel related problem so my advice would be to S-OFF and use 4EXT recovery to flash another ROM and that should sort it (make sure to double check MD5 CheckSum of whatever ROM you are flashing!)

If I try to switch on phone it simply will not go past the initial white screen with the green HTC logo.
When I open in boatloader it goes through a cycle of checking SD card, loading image etc - at one point it states no image or wrong image and the parsing PG58IMG
Can I still S-Off and transfer 4Ext to the phone with this functionality and if so, could you please explain how. Obviously I can flash Zips from SD Card?

Hi,
Look HERE
Firstly, thankyou for your advice. However, unless I'm missing something (highly likely!!) it appears that to S-Off I will need to connect the phone through USB which does not recognise it?
Also the HTC Sensation opens for HBoot version does not include 1.27.0000 on the beta key generator?

as long as you are SON ..you cant flash firmware
now for ppl with htc-dev unlocked bootloader and S-ON ..the traditional way of flashing wont work
you need to do one extra step (if the step missed ..either the rom doesnt boot up or you will have wifi error)
there is a perfectly awesome guide on how to properly flash custom roms in your case
which malybru mentioned it in the second post itself of the same thread
which you are keep on ignoring and asking for more answers (which has been answered ages ago )
now read the thread ..understand it and flash the rom accordingly
I'm getting there slowly after the helpful nudge!! 4Ext flashed and smartflash enabled - trying to flash android rev HD as suggested but still not having much luck (still won't boot past HTC screen)
i did format the SD card previously following a previous troubleshooting thread (bad idea no doubt!!)
Could it be to do with the PG58img.zip- when bootloader opens it still says wrong image?

Hi,
Have you still got PG58IMG.zip on your sd card?
If so, delete it.
Sorted!!!
Many Thanks to all who have posted on this thread. Successfully solved the issues and thankfully phone works as a phone on And Rev HD. I just need to rectify the WIFI error when I get a chance. Any hints to an easy guide would be much appreciated. Also, any advice on the best custom ROM to use; I appreciate theres an element of personal choice but i'm after one which will allow me to maxmise the potential of the device in terms of speed without ruining battery life too much?
Thanks

Hi,
If you manage to sort a problem, could you please share what you did,so that others may benefit.
Solution
WiFi now working. I followed the guide suggested for me by Malybru at the start of this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 I flashed 4Ext recovery instead of CWM. Then Android Rev Supawipe followed by Android Rev HD ROM. All exactly as advertised on the guide by using ADB. Initially WiFi wasn't working but I then flashed CM9 along with separately flashing the boot.img, again using ADB. All works perfectly now. Just follow the guide exactly and you should be fine. The main problem I had was assuming that because the phone did nothing when you connected the USB cable that connecting ADB wouldn't work. Don't think - just follow the guide!! Many Thanks All

[Q] Htc sensation xe with beats audio in a boot loop

Before you say anything i just want to state that i have been on my computer for over 4 hours trying to fix this issue but nothing seems to work. I have had my phone for a while now and while im not a complete noob at the tech with it i wouldnt say i have a very strong understanding either. So the phone was given to me by a friend, already rooted and i have had no promblems with it but today i tried to flash cyanogenmod(?) and well alot of things happened.
At first when i finished it just kept resetting so i did a bit of researched and i updated the firmware(without supercid) note that i only know that i was meant to use supercid after my phone went into a boot loop
So anyways long story short i cant use supercid because my phone is in a continous boot loop and it doesnt get recognised as a usb thingo when i plug it in so i cant do those commands i need to do for supercid
so urgent help is needed !!!
reading your post i assume you are S-OFF
what recovery do you have?
try 4ext recovery if you don't have it and reflash the rom

Hi,
Which firmware did you flash?
Supercid is not a necessity.
Use Kohr-Ah's Universal firmware ,and your CID should be incorporated in it.
If not,you can write it into the info.txt
i flashed the 3.3 universal then when everything went bad i tried to flash stock rom 3.33 or something :s

Hi,
Glad it worked.
Your radio is now good.
Place a Rom on the root of your sd card,go into recovery, wipe the phone clean.
If you have 4 EXT ,then, format all partitions except sd card.
Install ROM.
