How can I bring my Droid X2 from Verizon back to how it was when I got it from the store??
I rooted my phone using MotorolaOneClickRoot.exe "pete's motorolla tools"
I removed bookmarks and I removed two or three verizon stock apk like Blockbuster and Slacker. Also allowed super user permission for apps like barnicle wifi tether and a screenshot program. I have done nothing else.
I recently got the request to upgrade to 1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US but I can not upgrade.
Attempt #1
I factory reset the hard way. Hold power plus volume down... The phone boots back up and I still have Superuser icon showing but everything else is different. I realized at that time I would have to unroot but I could not remember which program I used to root my phone.
Attempt #2
I ended up installing gingerbreak and used the unroot uption on that program to unroot my phone. It said successful. I tried to install the update and it failed. I factory reset the phone and it failed. IDK why but I attempted to root the phone again using gingerbreak after that... but gingerbreak would not root my phone again, it just sat there doing nothing for an hour and 30 minutes.
Attempt #2
I searched more and found the program I originally used. I loaded it up and clicked the unroot option. It unrooted my phone sucessfully. I attempted to upgrade and it failed again!
Attempt #3
I ran the temporary root that came with MotorolaOneClickRoot.exe . Thinking maybe gingerbreak messed up some files and I needed to restore them for the unroot to work properly. The temporary root was not what I had used the first time so I'm thinking maybe I should have done the permanant root... I then unrooted the phone again. After that, I factory reset again and attempted to upgrade the phone. Still fails.
I havn't removed or modified any sytem folders. I simply deleted bookmarks and Blockbuster and other useless stock apps. I've unrooted and factory reset but blockbuster and the stock applications never come back...
I can't upgrade my phone and I need some help. I can't remember what came with the phone by default so IDK how to manually set it back. Please, how can I resolve this? How can I bring my phone back to how it was when I got it from the store??
I want that ugrade.
Notherwise fully aware if we have a forum for your device but if we do....head in over to that place and look fir the "stock ROM" for your device.
First thing is first....you need ti remove root...not familiar with device so don't know is stock Rom will restore root.
Another option is to go to the first thread on this forum and ask Samuel.....he might be able to help.
Cheers and good luck mate
I don't want to restore the root. Honestly I never really used the super user features for anything other than screenshots.
I have no roms or anything. This is just 2.3.3 with the root enabled. I did lurk around and find a link to VRZ_MB870_DTN-14.8.sbf but I'm not sure if that is what I need to do? Will an SBF restore my phone and applications so I can upgrade again?
Update to my previous post. I searched around like I should have in the first place.
I used RSDLite 5.3 to flash my phone to VRZ_MB870_DTN-14.8.sbf. Which was android 2.2.2
I was then able to update the phone to version 2.3.3 and then finally 2.3.4 official OSA over wifi.

So the purpose of this thread is to somehow update my 2.2.19 Droid 2 to 2.2.20.
The problem is as follows:
I rooted my phone and removed a lot of the crapware. But for a couple different reasons I want the 2.2.20 upgrade, though the phone works pretty well as is.
The OTA doesn't want to work. I've un-rooted and tried the OTA, fail. I went to my Titanium and tried to reinstall the deleted crapware and it only got through 4 of them. The other 10 won't reinstall, presumably the ones I need in order for the OTA to succeed.
I tried RSD Lite and it claimed "success" though I saw no real change after the reboot.
I don't know what to do at this point. If there's a way to even re-flash to a 100% stock version of Droid 2.2 with all the original programs and lose all my crap, I'll do it. I just don't know where to go and what to do.
I'm gonna pull my hair out!
I apologize to all if this is in the wrong category or this has been answered already. I am new to his site and relatively new to the ROMS and Rooting
Basically what happened is I rooted my evo in order to wifi Tether, this worked fine, however, i made the rookie mistake of updating my phone which may have removed the root because my root programs say i no longer have root priveleges.
Next I figured since its not rooted anymore I'd be able to update to the latest software 3.7, however this proved to not work either as it will find the update when i search for updates and wont install.
Now i am confused, should i reroot my phone, and flash the rooted version of the 3.7 update rom, should i factory reset, or am i just stuck with this phone the way it is now.
Thanks in advance
I've recently bought a LG Optimus Black aka P-970, rooted and themed the hell out of it. For rooting, i used GingerBreak. However, yesterday i tried to install a rather complex UOT Kitchen theme file, and got my phone stuck in a bootloop. Since LG cleverly enough don't offer a way to boot into recovery mode, i had no other option than to run the LG Recovery software from my computer to restore the default settings.
Now, after that procedure, all stock apps are back, but none of the 3rd party apps was gone either. However, the root access was gone, and if i try to run GingerBreak now, it apparently starts doing its thing, but nothing happens. If i let it go until the screen turns off, and then unlock it again, GingerBreak is closed as if it was never started.
I don't know why, but i suspect that there is some cache somewhere which ruins my funday. I did uninstall GingerBreak and Superuser, then reinstalled GingerBreak, but nothing changed...
Similar for me. Any advice?
Not yet. I found out that the reason was because the update process upgraded to V10E, and that version is not supported by GingerBreak. I know it is possible to root it, i've seen guides, but i haven't tried much yet. V20R is supposed to be released today with GingerBread for EU users with V10E, so i don't put any effort to it atm...
Hey, New to this here and in need of help with my Xperia S Lt26.
I bought it off eBay earlier this year not realising it was rooted, once I got the phone I performed a factory reset and removed apps like moxier and superSU (which I now think was a mistake).
Anyway with the new update out my android system says computer required and when I connect to Sony update on computer it says I can't do it, I have also tried to update via WiFi with no luck as my girlfriend was able to do her update this way.
How can I get my phone back to its stock factory settings and avoid this happening again?
I want my phone back to how it should be, like it was never rooted, then I can update it the correct way.
I have never rooted or flashed a phone before, so step by step would be great, thanks
just want to add I tried to reinstall superSU and do the remove root on my phone but once I opened the app it came up that no binary was found
somebody surely must have an answer
Hey all, need some advice... I recently rooted my phone and found it wasn't for me (way too many apps stopped working). Because of this I tried to unroot the phone, but got stuck in a boot loop and had to recover from scratch.
Anyways, I'm running stock now and the system is back to being rooted. Problem is, I can't seem to update the phone. I'm not getting an error message either. Both Smart Switch and the phone simply say I'm up to date, but I'm on APB7 when I should be able to get APD3.
Is there anyway to fix this? Will I need to factory reset the phone? I'm not sure how to get the phone to recognize an update now.
Same here. I rooted my phone, installed TWRP but battery drain and apps not working properly made me go back to stock. Now I cant get any updates. I flashed APEQ fw yesterday dated June 8 but still dont get the June 17 updates.
I used Smart Switch to do an Emergency Reinstall of the firmware. Had to start over from scratch with my phone... It installed the lastest firmware though.
Been researching as much as I can online and it seems the consensus is simply unrooting the phone does nothing. You have to factory reboot. Tripping Knox won't stop you from getting updates but an unrooted phone that wasn't factory reset still won't get updates. Fun times. Last time I root my phone... Things aren't the same since I last rooted in Android 4.0. Now too many apps and updates etc. check for root and stop working if they detect it.

Did you use Odin to flash back to stock?

I used the Emergency Recovery function of Smart Switch which, from my understanding, is basically the same thing. I know how to use ODIN but it seemed a better idea to go with the official solution. Guess I'll find out if it worked once the June update is available in Canada.
