Question regarding market - Android Apps and Games

Hi guys, I wanna know whether something wrong with phone/market or everyone experiences the same thing. The issue is market shows maybe 1% of the total hits. For example if I search clock in the market then it says 21000 as result but when I start to scroll down it shows only 2_3 pages and stops there as if thats it, no more apps.
I did not experience this with the old market. I have gs2 and no root.
Anything I can do??
Thnx

I have the same problem and have not gotten an answer either. Say I search for "root" 50 apps will show up, but at the top out will say 2000. But I want to see them all. I don't get it.

I deleted all cache and data etc and same thing even deleted market and reinstalled så need some advise here.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

I did that too. the only way to get it back to normal is to install the old market. Your going to have to root to do that. Just revert back and freeze the updater

I don't like the new market. So many developers are loosing money by not having their apps visable. Plus google isn't any help. Tried that too

I have the same issue. Also, some of the pictures are not working.
If I check out a app the small preview pictures are fine but if I touch them to fit the screen I have problems viewing them. Usually the second one is only a black screen.

Is the tapatalk forum app any good? It sounds like a cool idea but hasn't gotten many good reviews lately.

Xda app is based off tapatalk and I think its pretty good software. If my reg. forums supported tapatalk id prob buy the app

I use it for a few forums (Cyanogen, XDA, RiderForums) and it makes viewing them all easier since they're in one place.
Every once and a while it does hiccup though, it'll just hang on a screen for 5-10 seconds - for example when loading favorites - sometimes with a Force Close popup dialog box, but if you click 'Wait' instead of 'Close' I'd say 9/10 times it loads the page you want without restarting the app.
It's a lot like the XDA App: not perfect but convenient to have.

Mine has never force closed or freezed, has worked like a champ. Use it to visit Overclock.net, and it works very well. Definetly a winner if you visit a lot of forums on your phone.

XDA also supports Forum Runner, a similar app...you may like to try that as an alternative.
i was thinking about getting it but from the latest reviews i seen theres a new one that you will have to pay for also and other people said the update brought new problems
^ I downloaded version 1.4.2 yesterday on my motorola defy and it's working great. No issues whatsoever.

Xda app keeps disappearing

My xda premium app keeps disappearing for some reason maybe its AT&T uninstalling it. Is anyone else having the same issue? I'm currently on non rooted stock rom.

Lol no att is not uninstalling it. By ut keeps disapearing what exactly do u mean you know there is more then 1 home screen right? Is it possible it on one of your other home screens? Did u open the app drawer and scroll through your apps and not see it as well?
I've had this happen myself the past few days ever since I started messing around with some roms. For me, I'd go to click on the app shortcut and it would say it doesn't exist. I'd have to go back into Market and reinstall. Very odd issue and its happened around 3 times.
The last time it happened was when I went back to stock like I am now. I am still rooted though.

Nope. Just had this issue pop up again after I did a nand restore from stock. I couldn't access the app, it no longer showed anywhere on the phone (/system/app, Applications, etc.) and yet the Market showed it was installed. I ended up having to install the free app and then uninstall that to then reinstall the premium one.
Not had an issue like this with any other app.

Disabling Market Recommendations

Hello all,
I keep getting a notification from the market about a recommended app called POPS.
I don't want it and can't for the life of me figure out how to disable market recommendations.
Any help?

Bump.
Anybody???

Market doesn't recommend apps on your notification shade? Possible virus or dodgy app
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
You're getting adverts in your notification bar? Sounds like you have Airpush on your phone. It gives devs the ability to send adverts and recommendations to your phone. Use this app to scan for Airpush and remove it...

Thanks for the reply...
It is in the notification area but I don't want it at all since I can't even get rid of the notification without tapping it and following it to the market...

wnp_79,
Thanks for the reply, but I installed and ran what you suggested and it wasn't that. It didn't find anything...
Ok try this one...

And i recommend reading this...

Remember to rate affected apps with a single star and mark it as defective / malware to make sure the devs understand your opinion on that kind of ads...

I tried it and it did find one App that was using the push ads (Kona's Crate), so I removed it. But the recommendation is back now, so I guess it wasn't that.
Any other suggestions?
Next step would be to install Lookout Mobile Security. I use it, and the free version can scan your phone for all dodgy apps, malware, spyware etc. and will scan new downloads to stop it happening again. It also has tracking and wiping features should you loose your phone. Unlike certain antivirus apps though, it does not hog resources too much or drain your battery.
I have gone for the premium version, which adds real-time virus protection when using the stock web browser. The free version should serve your needs for now though. Put it on and run a scan. See what turns up.
The only downside to this app (and it's only a small niggle) is that after a new download from the market, the phone may lag a bit for a few seconds whilst Lookout scans it. That's it.

Xda app update

I am using the free version, wife refuses to let me pay something thru phone with debit card, but since the update this week, the app loads topics very very slow, but the ad loading is very fast. The app is almost unusable, seems like its more concerned with ads than topics. Anyone else notices these issues? Its the same on every rom ive tried and im no noob, flashed over 500 rom flashes on multiple devices.
Sent from my HTC Mecha using XDA
Getting the same subscriptions also shows up with no topics.

Yeah, i get that alot, but the ads load instantly, its wierd, never seen this app act this way.

Virus? Not enough information to tell you. Sounds fishy to me. Check which app is consuming the data.
Yeah I looked at the app thing and I tried a virus scan and there is none. The notification hasn't showed up for a few hours now. And a search of the phone yesterday brought up the file and I deleted it hoping the message wouldn't show up again but it was there this morning. Google was no help. Now I am using a system monitor to see if it is an app causing this phenomenon.

When did it start? Where did you get the device from? Is it a knock-off China phone?
It started 1.5 daze ago. Yeah I imagine the phone is from China like everything else is, but it was bought through koodo. Maybe they did this? Maybe a conspiracy in the works? Or it's this rom I got on here, CM7 I just thought it was an odd thing to notify me about over and over. We'll see what happens. Thank you from China:beer:

Ureka! Easy downloader pro was the culprit. I deleted the 0 byte completed file. Now hopefully I am watch.bin free.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Oh, if you flashed your own ROM, then I wouldn't worry about factory-installed spyware.
Keep an eye on it. If it doesn't come back, you're probably ok. Pirated apps (if present) could also be a source of problems, though.
