Cyanogen just tweet about this phone!!!!! - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

The @htc Doubleshot has been on the market for months and still no GPL sourcecode is available. That's just awful.

Finally someone big in dev community has taken notice.

Is there an eta for CM7 then?

i hope we get a CM rom

Im starting to wonder If tmobile is delaying HTC on the source code. But they never Did this with the original mytouch 4g or the 3g.
Sent from my Senseless Doubleshot using xda premium

Why would tmobile be delaying it?

Cause the mytouch Line is there flagship and they want to keep there phones stock. Idk. Who knows at this point. The sensation had source code within a month. This phones in Its almost 3rd month and we got nothing. Someone is holding it back, Im leaning toward tmobile. :shrug:
Sent from my Senseless Doubleshot using xda premium

That's bs. There needs to be like an hour where people just call and blow HTC up with demands for the Kernel source. I mean, they've got to release it eventually correct?

If I remember correctly it did take awhile for the 3G slide as well. Definitely BS when Samsung has already released the source for the Galaxy S II across the board.

Simple
CM3 = 1.5
CM4 = 1.6
CM5 = 2.0/2.1
CM6 = 2.2
CM7 = 2.3
and since phones didn't get honeycomb, which is 3.0, we'd get 4.0, so it'd be CM9

Since the CyanogenMod #s don't line up with the Android #s, and there's not a CM8 for Honeycomb*, I'd put good money on CM8 being ICS.
*If I'm not mistaken, Honeycomb was never open-sourced from Google?

Is the MyTouch4g and MT4gs based on the 3g models likely to get an OS update from Tmobile? Or is the only way to expect ICS tools to go the custom rom route?
Thanks in advance.

By the time the 2.2 update for the mt3gs came out, there had already been a leaked version of the rom on xda that was EXACTLY the same...

Its worst than that... CM numbers are worse than retarded.
Major version should be UPSTREAM VERSION.
CM9?
Should be versioned as android-4.0-X.cm.arch
Screw the CM version, it is MEANINGLESS.
X being the specific build number for android-4.0.
CM is not a fork, it is downstream, and those arrogant SOBs should accept it.

I'm wondering too when 2.3.7 is gonna be available for the sensation... Haven't seen anything online about it yet. Mostly just the Nexus
I waited for a thread like that xD
Have a wait we dont have 2.3.5 yet and HTC cant be so fast
Exactly, 2.3.5 isn't officially out yet so we're gonna have to wait a while yet!
crawl before you walk
2.3.7??????????????????
Still waiting on official 2.3.5!
considering we just got a leak of 2.3.5 with sense 3.5 i wouldnt expect 2.3.7 anytime soon if at all, unless it plugs the security gap found a few days ago
We may get it on cm7. Cm is running 2.3.7 on the thunderbolt.
.7 is only support for Google wallet.

Not that it really matters, but it'll probably be 4.0, wont it? It's just a number, but since it's merging tablets and phones and tablets are already at 3.X, calling it 2.4 would give them the impression that they're downgrading. And giving separate version numbers for the two systems would defeat the purpose of 1 OS for all form factors.

Unofficially probably. No way is our outdated phone going to see an official build. It changes to much of the phone and how it looks.

I'd be happy with official GB right now. ICS seems highly unlikely.

All of which we don't even have for gingerbread correctly let alone ics.

actually, they are giving a fully functional universal build.
No and Im not sure why people even think we will get an unofficial version, didnt we only get a ghetto version of Gingerbread after an official Samsung leak? Why on earth would Samsung even attempt to make an ICS version for this phone? They need to actually make something to leak it, which is pretty much impossible given Samsungs business model.

[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich

Do you guys think the mytouch 4g slide will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update swiftly?
Doubtful. T mobile, and all US carriers in general are absolutely abysmal when it comes to rolling out updates on time. Normally the rest of the world is an update or two ahead of us when it comes to official updates.

It already uses both cores. This is implemented below the android layer -- in the kernel itself. The Linux kernel has always been SMP.

i hope the xda community will provide a working one earlier than that.
Thanks to the sense interface wich is mostly adapted by google in ICS HTC needs to rewrite everything and we are getting delayed updates.
Pretty bothersome actually
Good News! Hope that there is no delay this time!
due to Gargle releasing source in the next weeks we'll get to experience ICS AOSP goodness via CM9 before the official HTC update.
CM9 is going to take a while too to be released for Sensation even after AOSP gets the new source....maybe we get a build around Christmas?

Why do people make excessively optimistic posts like this? We've had CM7 for roughly 2 months now and it's still in the alpha stage. If it takes them this long to build a ROM for the Sensation on a version of Android that was around for long before the Sensation came out, why would it be any quicker for them to build a ROM for the Sensation on a new version of Android?
Maybe because cm7 is not officially supported for sensation and cm9 might be?

CM7 will be official on the Sensation, but before it can be folded into the "Nightly Builds" it needs to get out of Alpha status.
Why would CM9 be quick? Because unless I missed something *huge* Google did not change how the drivers work, which are going to be the same (more or less) as they are in CM7.
So if CM7 works, CM9 won't take much to make work.
Simple.
