Verizon Data Outages 10-16-2011 - Thunderbolt General

Just heard reports that Verizon has a major data outage on LTE & other data services...

Hence the post just below yours titled "Stuck on 1x" lol

yep. I noticed it losing signal completely and going to 1X so I called Verizon and was told it's a national data outage. they couldn't give me an ETA but it's currently 6:44PM PST and I am back on 4G again.

Really not liking Verizon this year.. too many outtages

Oh well, so much for the least ammount of dropped calls. If this is a nation wide thing. It may put them on par with AT&T. Lol!

ATT testing its 4G?

As mant of us know, recently ATT announced it would begin enabling HSUPA capabilities on the Atrix and Inspire.
Ive consistantly had the H+ icon on my phone, and tried many ROMs and radios until I found the one I used now which consistantly keeps my speeds at 2-3.5mb.
Well earlier I noted an icon that showed a G instead of H+
I tested my speeds and kept getting 5.5mb or more consistantly. The phone went back to H+ and back to normal speeds shortly after.
Safe to say its coming soon?

They had better soon...
The average customer didn't really notice that data speeds were slower until they admitted it officially. Now that the cats out the bag, I've heard some pretty nasty phone calls from folks who want their IP4 back and most of them are within 30 days.
It's a retail cluster f**k.

I forgot to add that under the settings, the connection type showed up as unknown. Normally it was HSDPA. Hmmm

No "G" here, unless the G stands for Grief.

Nice one! LOL
I've seen G on ATT here on socal, very briefly, on my nexus one. it happens in certain very weak dead spots where the phone is in the middle of latching on to edge or 3G. the G stands for GPRS, which is one technology below EDGE. so its super old and slow, like 20 Kbps maximum.
I dont know then. I wish I knew how to take screenshots. I also thought the G was the old technology, but I cant make sense of it. My phone said connection unknown as opposed to HSDPA and the speeds were toying with 6mbps. Im a mile and a half from manhattan and never had a dead spot in my home. Maybe ATT wanted to mess with my feelings?

Wow thats such a weird coincidence. I was looking at this forum on my phone then I looked up and mine said G as well. Did a speedtest and got 7MBPS download. I have never seen anything past 3 in my area. Maybe they are testing it. I was promised that I would get 4G by the end of the month since I am covered by the map. Also I checked my connection type and the spot was just blank, Didn't say unknown like the op or hsdpa like it normally does. Also I was thinking maybe the phone shows G since the "new" network type is unknown so the phone dosn't know what icon to display and since G is the "first" network type thats why
Man if only i could get off of edge here (
They need to start 4G. This phone is fast, but, its much faster when its up. I bought it just because of 4G. I wonder if anyone made a big deal about false advertisement. Because no one mentioned to me that the towers or whatever wasnt up yet.
sent from my inspire 4G via xda premium app
and once its up everyone will complain about the battery life and blame att.
Lets hope it comes soon. My only worry is I read that the update for the Atrix (not a 4g update, but misc One) will ruin the root.

i've been getting nothing but edge for some reason in the last day. i mean that march 31st date is coming.
I have been consistantly getting 5-6.9mbps consistant today. Anyone else?

Wilkes-Barre, PA is up and running since this morning. Here is hoping they don't turn it back off. It was on for a couple weeks before the announce date in the Allentown/Lehigh area also. I got 8mbps down on a quick test. Just upgraded the MIFI to a 4g MIFI too.
Scranton has been up since this morning... Nice speeds too..
Hopefully we can get some 4g love here in Western, PA as well.
Well I saw hazleton mentioned on the same bracket as wb/ scranton so I hope they just takin longer cuz its further east. How does the phone transition to 4g when on WiFi? Or you wouldn't notice cuz its not using WiFi instead of tower connections?

1x and 3g are currently working in hawaii. I already called technical support. They have no reports of any current outages or planned maintenance. I did get a lot of calls from friends with lte phone calling me to confirm if mines were out as well.
I will report back when it is up and running. (I need to get netflix back up to watch my season of Chobits)
Lte is back up and everything is alright in the world.

I just got data flagged

I'm not in an lte market right now, I'm on hspa/umts only. No 3.5g. 3g only. I have used 2.7gb of UNLIMITED DATA and I got flagged. Wtf is that?
HTC = Hate The Consumer
they throttle the top 5% on unlimited plans. spoke to a rep yesterday. although your usage to me does not look like a 5%'er
My average usage is 2.5 to 3.8 according to the rep I spoke to. He is also curious why I got flagged. He said he will look into it and call me back.
HTC = Hate The Consumer
there are two threads here about this... one is titled throttled and the other is something along the same lines.. check them out for tips and gripes

Sprint may not have very good coverage but I can use all the unlimited unthrottled data I want . Not trying to rub it in (cause I used yo have AT&T and got throttled and capped) just saying it was a good switch for me.

The sad part is that even though sprint does not throttle their speeds Max at at about what we are throttled to lol. I left them in august and have not looked back.

Really??? I get a good 1-1.5 mbps continuous on 3g on my phone and computer when I use the hotspot. I font have 4g in my area to test that though. But when sprint launches their 4g lte in 2013 I will have it hopefully still unlimited too.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Yeah I was super dissapointed they did wimax and not lte.
Realize our 3g speeds are typically 1.5-5 , I have hit 12
When one gets throttled and can accomplish the apn trick...they are hitting 1.5-5 ...throttled
In my case here in Dallas i would get about 400kbps dload in most areas, which is why I left Sprint. Its different from area to area tho.

Yep had sprint for a few years and recently switched to At&t, the switch was night and day. I Showed my phone to a friend that still has sprint and he was amazed at how fast thing were loading especially YouTube videos and I wasn't even on At&t lte. I don't have an unlimited plan so I don't get throttled and average 1.3gbs per month so I'm good.

Yea, I hate to champion one corrupt corporation over another, but I'd much rather be on at&t's network since the fall-back network is still leaps and bounds faster than Verizon's fall-back network (and they have had a number of outages on their LTE network this year so far). Fortunately I live in San Antonio so I have access to 3 major carriers' LTE networks.
That said, at&t can piss off with their restrictive policies. I only hate Verizon slightly more.
But my God 25mbs is amazing if could offer that every where I pay tom more I just wish my wifi that fast

I get LTE for AT&T in weird places here. I live in Oklahoma and get LTE of course in the bigger areas but sometimes LTE 4g in like small towns kind of cool but kind of weird.
You think 25Mbps is fast, check my sig...
Lol yeah. I just came back from Anaheim. Hot damn. 16 Mbps. But speed test used up 30 MB of data... I'm now being charged $30 for using 204.6 MB of data. >_>
