When i flash my new rom i hate installing all the APPS i use over and over from the market. I want to start incorporating them install the install.
searching for the actual APK file with google is a pain in the ass!
is there a way to download the APK file direct from the market to your PC? it always prompts for an install when all i want is the damn .apk file, i will install it my self.

Even with adb im not sure you can pull all the data that belongs in the apk like save states, stats or logins or anything

Right, but if you want just the apk then they're all in /data/app. I don't use ADB much but I think it's adb pull /data/app or something. Or can use a root file explorer to move em to the your SD to copy onto your PC. But probably all that is more work than it's worth when it won't even back up your app data. Instead you should buy Titanium Backup Pro. Or if cheap get My Backup Root. Then you can easily restore not just the apks but also all your settings and data. Just avoid restoring system app data.
thank you for this.
thanks, i will try out root explorer and see if i am able to pull out the .apk's that is all i really want anyways the setting are not that hard to setup due to not installing much on my shift.
Download es file explorer and use the backup feature to backup the apps you dl. Then after you flash a new rom install es... And just navigate to the backup folder and install that way.

You can restore all your apps in batch mode if you have titanium backup.
Titanium backup is great. However, I'm on the free version and hate having to hit install and done every time.
What you could actually do as an easier but not necessarily better work around is just wipe dalvik and cache and then flash your rom, gapps, and gapps new talk. We actually may have a new gapps with market 3.2 and new talk included up soon thanks to CrashV2010 and the #htc_evo_shift chatroom. Stay tuned.

If you decide to try this DO NOT! attempt perm root. Theres no telling what it will do to your device, It messes with the H-boot so a brick is possible.
I suggest to try "Temproot now"
There is a very limited possibility it will harm your device at all
Even so it will not be a brick. Worse Case you may need to RUU your device back to stock
This is great for those waiting for a perm root needing to use TiBu or Root Explorer ( Two very great apps i suggest you buy if you dont have them)
This is also good for those who would like to root but like to be able to remove the root

I am banking on unrEVOked team to get us root rather quickly. Who knows maybe the exploit current used will work with the TB? That would be DOPE
I will probably wait for a permanent root... I don't think it will be that long after launch...

As long as you use the same SD card or copy the backups over to the new SD card, yes.
Edit: There have been some issues with TiBu and GB roms (I had an issue with my OG Droid and restoring apps when I went to CM 7). Some apps will not restore and no one can figure out why. However you can simply let Google sync your apps and then restore the missing ones.

The news was for 3.0.26, and this is 3.0.27, which fixed the apps description showing in other languages (Maps description showed in Russian for me, and I was not the only one). This one fixed it. There are sure others threads about v27, but the only one I could find after this was in the EVO 3D section and with this thread I know now there is the newer version.
Oh, and sorry for the thanks I gave you, I pressed the wrong button (small netbook). Also ironic for what you said about "thanks" button.

create a backup before doing this using any backup soft like titanium
Did all of that, backed up the old market. New market FCs constantly, cleared cache and data, full battery pull, nothing. Could not restore the old market, Titanium said it did, but the new one still tries to load. Uninstalled and reinstalled vending.apk for the old market, still FCs like crazy. So I'm wiping and re-flashing Liberty now, F it. Guess it was worth a shot but I'll be fine with the old market.
I still have that stupid missing "Update" button bug.
Lol, you could just install it over old Market and then go to Applications/Market/Uninstall updates and revert to old Market.

this is something related to your custom rom maybe not suitable for new market
WTF Even This Version FC's on me
so ever since installing the new market on Evil Fascination on two phones I get FC on them. Here are the steps. Open market, then go to apps, then select any application that has screenshots, then without clicking on an image to make it larger just try and swype through them. FC's on two Samsung Fascinates both with various modems and both running Evil Fascination which has no problems with older market app. I truly beleive this is a bug in the market app.
Is any one else having to issue so I can confirm it is the app and not the rom i'm using?
Thx

Put the f****** APK here and not to those f****** file sharing sites!!!!
I just started using Swype again (I had been using SwiftKey X then decided to try Swype to see if I liked it), and after taking a look at the Swype beta vs. the preloaded Swype on the SK4G I couldn't resist trying to install the beta.
Here's how to do it:
1. Root your phone
2. Install Titanium Backup
3. Using Titanium Backup uninstall the preloaded version of Swype
4. Using RootExplorer, ADB (good luck), or Android Commander, remove /system/lib/libSwypeCore<swype version>.so
5. Boot into CWM and wipe dalvik cache
6. Go to http://beta.swype.com/android/get and download Swype Installer, and install (on device)
7. (You must have a Swype Beta account, which you can easily create here) Run Swype Installer, follow directions (pretty straight forward)
And now you have Swype Beta!!
I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS, I found the information here.

Pretty cool, but what exactly is the difference between the beta and the default SK4G swype keyboard?
Better prediction, and instead of the "balloon" that used to popup with the with the predictions, the predictions are in a bar above the keyboard- similar to the gingerbread keyboard.
Must say, good find man. I really like the bar up top rather than the intrusive bubble. Also, the font matches GOv2 (I don't know if it's stock or if it actually fits the phone's as the original Skype did not.); it just themes and feels leaps and bounds better.
Great find! I definitely hate that stupid bubble...it just seemed unecessary.
sent from a mini computer-gloriously overdosed
Yes I absolutely agree, the bubble was obnoxious. The Swype Beta just feels better, and as HeavyYeti mentioned the theming is nice as well. It goes nicely with GloriousOverdoseV2
After using this on another ROM, I know that it does in fact match the system font from the phone. Very nice.
Good to know, no doubt Swype Beta is better than the preloaded version
Thanks for sharing! Was just trying to figure out how to do this today
Thanks, going to do this right now!

Thanks for the thread, and I don't mean to hijack..just trying to make it a little easier, because I had a problem using Titanium Backup's force uninstall feature.
1. Go to Google Play Store & download Link2SD (free)
2. Run the app and search for "Swype" and long press Swype and hit "Uninstall".
3. Go to Swype.com and proceed to install the beta as you normally would.
--END--
Hope I helped guys.
I got the Beta working via JiN1337's method to force uninstall. Ti Backup was throwing a fit. :\

Yeah, forgot to clarify.
Was never a fan of swype but the lady is so thinking about putting it on her phone thx.
GenericGinger 3.7 now includes Swype Beta 3.26 by default! Check it out!
I installed this via the OPs instructions. Took longer to reboot after dalvik wipe. Apps were gone from App Drawer for like 10 minutes (thought I screwed something up because I could not see any of my apps)
Anyway, I got Beta to install, apps reappeared eventually, it's just that is it extremely laggy using Beta version 1.0.3.5809. Words sometimes don't come out right because it screws up keystrokes while swiping. Any ideas? I am running Stock Rom KJ2.
I found this in my search for a themed swype to go along with the black version of valhalla and I believe it goes perfectly and I have had no problems using it. So for you swype enthusiasts... Swype is annoying to install. You have to completely remove what is already on the phone, then install new. There's 2 apps in app manager with Swype in the name. Uninstall then both, then install from your sd card.

Crap I dont have the all blue version on my comp so I cant make a flashable, thought I DLd it but I guess not. If anyone has a copy of the all blue version let me know so I can package it =)
Anyway here is the flashable for the blue outlined version from OP
The flashing script should delete both instances of stock swype, if installed, and clear caches.
If you have issues you may still need to manually delete all swype data through root explorer.
Of course if you wish to just push it manually you can extract the APK from the zip and do so.

And as promised, the solid version in a CWM flashable zip;

Tried SE, still not able to move anything into system/app. It was suggested In the viper thread to try reflashing elemental first, then dirty flash viper. If that doesn't work only thing to do would be to completely wipe. I did come from ICS without wiping everything in twrp (ran the wipe in aroma though). Could that have anything to do with it? I know that's farfetched but I'm not sure what else it could be.
Your image shows you copied to system not system/ app

i know. re read the OP
edit: just an update. i dirty flashed both viper and elemental and im still unable to move the files. only thing left is to do a complete wipe again.
Make a zip to flash in twrp. Or use a zip from themes that flashes system apps... Open with 7zip and replace those files with yours.. then close zip. Flash in twrp.

i finally had enough time to do a complete wipe. this time i am now able to move files into system/app with the viper file explorer. es file explorer is still not allowing me to move them correctly. i havent seen any reports on this anywhere (xda, other forums, etc) so im not sure whats going on with the app. its definitely updated for JB so im a bit confused. thanks for the replies everybody, appreciate your time. :good:
