How safe is it exactly?
I can't yet post in the developer thread. But I did it, opened SetCPU, and noticed nothing changed. Did I do something wrong? I used the CM Kernel.
CM Kernel isn't capable of overclocking. You'll need Faux123's or Morfic's kernels.
So is it safe if I install that one with the cm kernel installed on it?
Or is there anyway of removing the cm kernel?

Kernels overwrite the currently installed one. Ttabals dragon kernel will also work. Do the homework before flashing though. Everything you'll need is in the development section. Overclocking and undervolting each have risks, so does changing your ROM. Follow instructions exactly.

oclf is not needed. If you are running onix or speedmod you just have to go into clock work mod recovery and enable lag fix and battery mod and bam! Thats it! Look in development for more info on this.

Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
You have a few options. You can install a rom with the kernel already added which to me is the easiest way. Just follow the instructions on the roms page. You could also place the kernel on the root of your sd and and use something like sgs kernel flasher from the market. It allows you to pick your kernel and flash it.
Look under development stickies and look for how to install a custom rom. It explains it better than I have. Also, backup all data and apps. Use titanium backup and look up how to do a nandroid backup before flashing.

I would suggest to stop using ROM Manager, as it sometimes causes issues with 2.2 and later ROMs.

no... rom manager causes problems with kernels that already have CWM built into the kernels (like all of the customs)
rom manager uses the update.zip method for cwm. which causes problems when cwm is already in the kernel.....
Newbie Question.

Have not used a custom Rom before, but I am also running stock with enhancement and OCLF but getting 1800 scores on quadrant...
What else have you done to your phone besides the purpleliscious or was this rom enough to get you to 2600???
And how is your battery life???
Thank you!

Um I went to recovery and advanced and didn't see the option. My recovery is green and then it switched over to a red one and said voodoo. It happened after I selected "key test" and hit the back button. Also I selected the "reboot in download mode" or something like that and a screen came up saying downloading don't shut off. Well it got stuck so I shut it off haha. But nothing bad happened. Anyways I don't know if I have the option. :/

I suggest flashing the Defuse 1.4 kernel - it doesn't do overclocking but it's solid and stable. Don't flash 1.5 - it has BLN too.
Every attempt to implement BLN on our phones has led to flakiness and instability.
Other option - upgrade to Gingerbread, that's where all the kernel development is these days.

Hey guys I just opened up SetCPU and the voltage tab went away and so did the overclocking. This happened right after I flashed Infused rom anyone know why? Should I just flash the Kernel over top? I mean I was trying to avoid that because of the bin issue

Defuse isn't an overclock kernel. You have a choice of overclocking with some instability, or stability without overclocking.
NOOB ALERT!
Is there a difference installing kernel with voodoo and a kernel that doesn't have voodoo. Like i have EB 2.3.5 ROM currently with morfic T15 no voodoo and i want to try faux kernel with voodoo. It should be the same installation process right. By the way , i have no problem with the T15 kernel , i just want to try faux kernel. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Check their respective threads first but just wipe cache/dalvik, install kernel, then fix permissions and reboot.
If u want other differences between the kernels I recommend reading the 1st post of each one's thread for an overview.

It works on all ROMs except the CM9 alpha that was released. Until you're less new you might want to hold off on that until there is a stable release.

Google Euroskank and go to the first one that pops up, hit the P999 tab and grab the latest and grab any of the custom kernels that strike your fancy or do what I started to do and try one for a week or two and see how I like it.

So what would be the best in your opinion to use
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Kernel?
It depends: If you want battery life get Trinity ELP (I that's the one, the one which only allows to OC to 1.1GHz) if you want pure power go for Faux, if you want a balance (don't know if it has Voodoo sound though) go for Dragon for CM7 (not OTA).
So I take it that you can use different kernals with different roms and you flash them the same as the roms?

Most, if not all of the newer custom roms are debloted, meaning the bloat has been removed in OTA based roms. If its AOSP or CM based, it's built without bloat.

There's a performance option in your phone setting where you'll be able to overclock the processor if wanted. As for battery life you can turn off surface dithering and turn on 16 bit transparency, use wifi as much as available, use an app such as system tuner to underclock your processor(be careful to not uv too much and don't save profile until your sure it's stable), also search for battery tips using google or the above search bar as there are plenty of threads set up for such things
It depends on the kernel. If you *safely* overclock to, say, 1.78 and you're using the badass governor, you should also consider moderately undervolting if you are looking for improved battery life. Download System Tuner and lower the voltage by 50-75 mv for each frequency level. Depending on your ROM and kernel, you may have to do this each time your phone reboots (if you save your custom voltage, you can just re-load your voltage table if needed). But again, you can only do this on certain kernel's.
Also, a couple of things:
First, avoid using profiles with custom governors. Second, Rom Toolbox will only get you so far. It's a good tool to have, but System Tuner and SetCPU are your best bet for managing your oc/uv/governors/etc.

Well, yes it does make a difference! That's a good kernel, but there are A LOT of versions of his kernel. If you're running a version later than v5.4.5 you should be good. Also, play around with the governors and see which one works best for you. SmartassV2, Wheatley, Conservative, badass, (sometimes) lulzactive, and some of the others can work better depending on how you use your device and your specific settings. It will vary from device to device, but I've had a lot of success with badass.
Badass and smartass aren't options why is that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Another problem I'm having is using system tuner every time I try to change the CPU settings its says failed to change CPU settings
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You may have a bad flash of the kernel, try to re flash.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
EDIT:
If you re-flash InstigatorX and it still doesn't give you governor options, here is the badass script.. Download here and flash.
The other governor scripts are available in the InstigatorX OP, and you can flash them individually.
But, you *shouldn't* need these if you're on v6.0.2 or later of the kernel.
Also, are you sure you're still rooted? I've seen several people that flash a custom ROM and kernels, and they still have CWM or TWRP recovery, but they lost root in the ROM. Some ROMs are pre-rooted, some aren't.. and you can probably just flash the SuperUser zip (or SuperSU zip) to correct this if you lost root.
