Dear Developers,
Yes, I'am a noob.
Yes, I watched the video at the beginning when i can register
Yes, I think that was funny
Yes, I searched the forum for my particular problem
No, I didnt find my answer
1. This is what happened, i just bought my xoom 3G 3.1 in a Dutch webshop.. i got home and found out she had a german default language. Googled it up, and found a few solutions.
2. I successfully unlocked, rooted and installed the Clockworkmod recovery for Xoom 3.1 3G. This eventually all worked fine and i was able to start her up.
3. After that, i did some googling and downloaded a language pack: "Langpack_0.5.zip"
4. Booted into the CWR, mounted my SD card, it was visible on my pc. Formatted it into FAT32 and copied/past my language pack.
5. in CWR i used the option "install with ZIP" It all went "OK""I guess and rebooted my device.
6. Now it boots, shows the Motorola Logo and then goes into a infinite loop of the introduction movie. (30 min for now).
What did I try
I Try'd booting into the CWR, but there was no way. Not with the hardware buttons or with the CMD window on my Windows 7 x64 machine.
Using " ÄDB Reboot recovery"
Using "when powering up, hold 5 seconds volume down button"
Edit
Okay, i got into the CRW menu. Reinstalled the language pack (made a photo)
Next problem (picture nr 2) is yes it reboots into android OS, but inmediatly gives a error (i guess).
IM out of options, can U please help this noob out?
Thank u in advance

Just joined to say thanks to Roebeet and everyone who is active in this forum. I might have passed this tab by, and waited months for something else...
--and here's where I cry for help!
I carefully followed a series of step-by-step instructions I found thru google, to install the latest tnt lite found here on XDA. Everything seemed to work without a hitch, and was prouder than a pappa to have completed my first root and mod ,ever!
BUT right after I DL'ed and installed the flash 10.1 apk things went south. The browser constantly crashed to the home screen, and the market and email apps were crashing also. I rebooted and now I am greeted by the tnt setup screen that is covered in an endless wave of crash warning dialogs! I can't tap them away fast enough to see the desktop.
I've tried to do a recover, but I can't get thru the setup (that keeps crashing to the first screen also) to use the USB to mount the internal mem to my Mac.
I am insanely happy about the potential of this hardware, but I've painted myself into a corner. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
And yes, I do look very handsome in my profile pic.
From bad to WORSE!
I discovered the dcom222 thread that describes my problem and details a solution. I followed it to the letter, changing the command and using my microSD as a secondary boot to reinstall the vanilla tnt ROM.
But then it just stuck on the tnt logo, faded in and out 3-4 times, and went dark! The device won't turn on or off (had a full charge when I pulled it from the wall socket a few moments ago)
Please tell me I haven't bricked this thing!
still no luck...
I was able to power the unit back up, but I've tried to recover and flash all three setup files I have (vanilla tnt, ota update tnt and tnt lite 2) but nothing works!
All of them create a loop of some sort, whether it's the viewsonic screen, gtablet screen loop, or the tnt logo screen blinking on and off, NOTHING boots to the desktop.
Going to bed before I drive my self insane. Hopefully someone in the know will reply by the time I check this at work.
thanks in advance
You have not bricked it, don't worry. This device is very hard to truly brick. If all else fails there is nvflash or the apx mode fallback. But I don't think you need that if you are still able to boot to clockwork recovery.
In clockwork go to advanced - mounts and try mounting and unmounting your partitions. I suspect your user partition may be screwed. This seems to happen fairly frequently especially the first time you flash a ROM. It happenend on my first flash and not again since. Clockwork lets you repartition though. Search the forum for partition fix, its not too big a deal.
If that fails try roebeet's thread on nvflash recovery for TNT lite. If that fails, search for APX mode.
As far as I know there are zero bricks from ROM flashing so far.

feeling better
Thanks for the assurances that I didn't wreck the device, and pointing me to some solutions. I have a few questions:
what is clockwork mod? If I am able to recovery boot from my micro SD card, do I already have it? (I downloaded a bunch of recovery images to start, per instructions)
If it's something I still need to download, is it a PC application? How am I supposed to change settings in it (manage partitions, etc) if I can't get the tablet to boot?
-- stuck at work and dying to get home to fix this thing...
Ok, more detailed instructions:
If you press and hold down Volume + when you are pressing the Power button to boot up, and keep holding the Volume + key until you see a message that says "Detect a Recovery Key Pressed", that should get you to a text menu from which you can navigate using the volume +/- keys and the Home soft button to flash ZIP files and do other things. That menu is ClockworkMod Recovery. Since you remember installing a recovery.img, it sounds like you probably (hopefully) have ClockworkMod Recovery on there.
If you get to ClockwordMod Recovery, you can go down to the Mounts and Storage option, then you will find the "Mount USB storage" option at the end of that list. That lets you plug in and mount your internal memory area as a standard USB drive to your Windows or Mac computer to copy over new ZIP files and the like to your G Tablet.
You can also check that partitions are all mounting and unmounting successfully in that menu. If you go instead into the Advanced menu, you will see Partition SD Card, which I believe is what you might need to do at this point.
If booting with the Volume + button held down doesn't get you anywhere and you see nothing about Recovery Key Detected and don't see any text menu, then you don't seem to have a working recovery. At that point you'll have to do what phfaty suggested, read the post he referenced, and follow the link therein to the tegratab forum post to get the NVidia Tegra SDK installed on your Windows desktop and use the NVFlash tool and APK mode (where you hold the Volume - key down while booting instead of the Volume + key) to reflash your tablet.
still not working...
The good news:
I do have clockwork mod installed. Must have been in 1 of those zips or rars I ran in the very beginning.
The bad news:
it's still caught in a boot loop. I've mounted it as an external drive 3 times now from clockwork, and tried all 3 versions of the operating system (vanilla, vanilla with the ota and tntlite 2) and NOTHING makes a difference.

1)Boot into clockwork.
2)Navigate to Advanced menu
3)Choose partition sdcard
4)Choose data partition desired size(1024=1GB)
5)Choose 0GB for the next selection(swap not used)
6)Do a factory reset from main menu
7)Reboot
8)If that doesn't work, then reinstall ROM, then reboot
UPDATE
partitioning the drive and wiping the user data did the trick. I'm up and running again. thanks to all who chimed in to help.
I got my Viewsonic GTablet on Friday (2/11/2011). I loved it and had no issues. I downloaded and installed the update from Viewsonic. I visited the Marketplace that's installed on the device and downloaded some apps, mainly games. Today (2/14/2011) I took it to my university and tried to get on the campus WiFi. I had difficulties, so I took it to the IT department on campus to get some help. They took my device, tried to get it on the network and said that my device could not get on the network because their network uses certain "secure credentials" or something like that. As soon as I get my device back from them, every time it boots up I get and error message that says that Dashboard Home has stopped unexpectedly and to try again. I called Viewsonic's Customer Service, and they determined that I was stuck in a reboot loop. I have tried rebooting the kernel more time than I can count, but it doesn't do anything to help.
Has anyone else been able to solve this problem? I would take it back to the store I bought it from (Office Depot) to get an exchange, but they don't have one in stock anywhere close to where I live, and I don't have the box the device came in anymore.
What do you suggest I do?
The device is running the stock OS with the update from Viewsonic. The only apps I have installed are from the marketplace that comes with the device. I have not tampered with the OS or settings. I am also mildly technically challenged, but I am working on educating myself.
I appreciate any and all help. Thanks in advance. I also apologize if this has issue has already been posted and answered.
vafalla,
This doesn't sound like the boot loops I had, but I guess if it doesn't get you to a screen you can work with the result is the same.
If it were me I would get on a PC and go the the Development part of this forum. I think you need to get ClockWorkMod installed. CWM is a replacement "recovery" program that gives you other functionality to restore, communicate, partition drives and a bunch of other things. There are a couple of threads in the Dev section that tell how. You can download CWM v.08 (the older one works!) and put the update.zip file on a microSD card and edit the recovery folder "command" (no .txt or other ending, just command) file in Notepad to load "sdcard2" instead of sdcard. then put the card in the gtab and reboot holding down the Vol+ key down. You'll get a message in the upper left corner of the screen that recovery is loading. After it installs, if it doesn't startup, reboot with the Vol+ key down again and you should be able to get into CWM.
From there, you can find the CWM partition command and change the two partitions to 2048 and 0.
From there, there are a bunch of threads which tell how to load either a stock recovery file to get back to stock -- or how to load VEGAn 5.1 (or now, 5.11).
Hope this helps get you started. I just didn't want you to think your tab is bricked and that all hope is lost!
Rev
P. S. --- Some of the other threads may have better instructions than mine!!!
Thanks so much for the help! I'll get right on it and see what happens.
Plug in your gtab to the power and see if it boots. Could be they ran your battery down.
Bootloop help
If you really want to learn about the gtablet, youtube ehunyadi. he has done over 10 excellent videos and his most recent is how to install CWM and TNT lite 4.2..sounds like only diereence for you is you'd install CWM to microsd.
Heya,
today i flashed my Milestone2 with CM10. I better describe what I did so maybe this
may give you a hint on my problem I will describe then.
1st I rooted the phone using SuperOneClick. I had to boot at least 5 times and hit the
Root Button again till that was successful - the other times it just hung.
2nd I placed the CM10 zip file on the root of my sdcard.
3rd I got Droid2Bootstrap from market and installed it. I hit "Bootstrap Recovery", gave
it Superuser rights and then hit "Reboot Recovery". The phone booted into recovery.
I did a backup. Then I installed the CM10 zip file. This all went fine.
I did NOT install gapps right after which might turn to have been my biggest mistake.
4th I rebooted the phone and it got stuck in the boot splash image (animated CM logo).
5th I rebooted into recovery again and did a factory reset.
6th I rebooted again and Android 4.1.1 came up.
So far so good. Now I have a phone with android 4. I can make and receive calls.
I have no google apps, no market, nothing.
First thing I noticed after the phone came up: it is not recognised by any pc anymore,
the MTP drivers refuse to install. There is no way to reach my sdcard nor the phone from
pc. So I have to plug the sdcard to the pc to copy things on it.
Second thing I noticed: I cannot boot into clockwork recovery anymore. I put the
Droid2Bootstrap apk from the CM10 thread on card and reinstalled it. Hitting the
"Reboot Recovery" Button now will just reboot the phone. I can reboot into android
recovery mode (switch on, hold X and press vol+/- at the logo) but i cannot install
the gapps zipfile from there because I dont have superuser rights obviously.
I have a backup on the sdcard, but cannot reach the phone from pc to reflash :crying:
Can anyone maybe gimme a hint what to do now?
Thanks, Martin
Could someone be so nice to place a link into the Developer thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827801
as I am not allowed to post there as a newbie?
Thank you!
Stupid me
Reboot the phone and press Vol - at blue light will get you to the recovery mode!
Found that on page 12x of the dev thread.
Sorry folks for any inconvenienve I might have caused!
I am running Android 4.1.1 on a Milestone 2 now with all Google Apps and have been
successfully syncing my account.
All works as described so hail to the modders!
Greetings, Martin

So it boots to the bootloader, you see the three icons - and then what?
It bootloops again?
Give us more info: Are you on stock? Rooted? Locked/unlocked? What did you do/install prior to this happening? Did you drain the battery so that it suddenly shut down?

That's ok and healthy. You are in the bootloader menu and seeing exactly what you're supposed to see here.

Mhh, this doesn't quite make sense...
If you say: Moving along to Android symbol - you are pushing Volume Up?
You toggle between the icons with Volume Down and execute them with Volume Up.
"Booting recovery kernel" would indicate that you pushed Volume Up on the flashing RCK icon which would fire up your recovery, and since it doesn't find a valid update file you get the Android on his back and the error message.
Since you are on stock your options are very limited. My guess is somehow your system partition got corrupted and your tablet can't boot into Android anymore.
You can give it a shot by using Volume Down to get the Android icon to flash and then pushing Volume Up, but I doubt that it would help since the tablet refuses to boot your system in the first place.
So if the above fails, go the Asus support website, the download section, enter "Transformer" in the search box, select the TF700t, choose "Android" as OS and from the resulting page choose the firmware for your SKU. If you are in Europe it would be WW, US for North America, JP for Japan - you get my drift...
Download the file and then unzip it ONCE, the result being another zip file. Rename that zip to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and copy it to a microSD.
Turn the tablet off and insert the microSD.
Boot into the bootloader with Volume Down and Power.
Push Volume Up on the flashing RCK icon to boot into recovery and it should recognize the firmware zip and start to flash it.
You will probably loose everything you have on the tablet if it is not backed up. But I don't see any option for you to save your data if you want to get the tablet working again. I just hope you knew and lived by my mantra: Data not backed up is data not yet lost....
Good luck.
Tried advice
Thanks for advice
Took a week to get micro card reader !!, however downloaded ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T Firmware: V10.6.1.14.10 Only for US SKU (Android 4.2.1)
Booted up as per instructions, it recognized the firmware zip and started to flash it.
Loaded as normal .. however same problem still exists ... noticed it the few seconds before it rebooted that not much had changed on desktop ?
Definitely says Android US Epad 10.6.14.10-20130801
Should desktop have changed ?
I am missing anything ?
Getting desperate
Any help appreciated

When you are in the bootloader menu, choose the third icon 'Wipe Data'. You navigate there by pressing Volume Down twice, then it should be flashing. Press Volume Up to wipe your device.
You will have to re-install the firmware (same procedure I described already)
Thanks...
Everything working !!
Finally...
So I don't have similar problem again should I unlock?
What program should I use ?
Could you point to thread to show me how too ?
Paul
Glad you got it going!

Hello all.
I just received my Lenovo A850+ today that I bought from China (via ebay). After charging it to full I put in my o2 Sim and blank micro-SD card and started having a play with the phone. (It worked fine before I started messing). Noticing there was no google play store I set about finding a way to put it on. The first thing (perhaps wrongly) i did was install some lenovo usb drivers that some site told me to use with the idea I would flash a custom rom (which i never did in the end) and enabled usb debugging.
I tried to root the phone with a program called Xroot, which unsuccessfully rooted the phone, then I downloaded a new version which updated to Xroot 1.7.7 and that supposedly successfully rooted the phone. It also installed a new app with a name similar to xroot which i then opened. It has what looked like an app manager so i started deleting apps that i thought were unnecessary (bloatware). Suddenly the list of apps changed and the phone froze. I took out the battery and attempted to restart the phone. I now have the following problem:
After hitting the power button the phone it vibrates once, plays an animation and then gets stuck on the logo screen:
Left like this it occasionally vibrates once every 20secs or so but doesnt load any further. When plugged into my PC via usb, after a minute or so my pc recognises the device (but not removable storage and CD Drive (D Lenovo Suite (an exe) pops up. after installing a chinese software suite is installed, which does pop up when my phone is plugged in.
The phone only responds when i hold the power button, which turns it off. Basically I want to fix my phone, hopefully without sending it back to china. I assumed I could just get into a recovery menu and factory reset it. I dont think I can. I can get into the following 3 menus:
factory mode: (power+volumeUp) I dont read chinese, the top few seem to be info/component checks, the bottom one restarts the phone and the eMMC option doesn't fix anything.
recovery mode: (power+volumeUp+volumeDown)Has a menu with power off, reboot, wipe user data (didnt fix anything) and install update package (i tried copying an official rom onto root of sd card but it doesnt recognise it (it looks like it specifically wants a zip called update.zip) i even renamed but didnt help.
meta mode: (power+volumeDown) Doesn't appear to do anything and has no options.
Does any1 have suggestions on how I can perform a factory reset/install a rom or fix my phone or is it just bricked? If you want me to try anything just post and I will give it a go.
Thankyou.

You need to install the ADB drivers and the Drivers for your device. If they are both installed you can check if your device is recognised by PC by typing this command: "adb devices". If you don't know how to use ADB I posted a helpful tool.
Then you need to download a ROM on your PC and then flash it via Sideload to your device.

Im trying to fix my GFs phone its stuck on the boot screen when the phone got turned off during an update
I got ADB installed and can see it in the CMD but its not showing my phone as connected,
I suspect this is because I dont have USB debugging enabled but seems the phone cant turn on i cant enable it, ive spent a few hours googling and googling but i cant find any way to get anything to work seems it wont connect to the phone
The phone does show up on my drives list when plugged in but it does not show up as an android device in the device manager. Am i screwed or is there another way to fix this?
Every single thing i try has "Make sure USB Debugging is enabled." ......
is there some way to enable it when i cant get the phone turned on....
