Screen Rotation - HTC Inspire 4G

Can't figure out how to even find out how to figure out why my screen doesn't rotate seams a lot of sensors aren't working after it downloaded one of the test apps from the market. PS I pre thank any who help seems very hard to thank people for me for some reason. That also first work LOL..

Try this. Menu, settings, display. Is there a check-box for auto-rotation?

Doesn't work sometimes it will rotate the screen but it stays rotated compass also doesn't work

I haven't had Sense in a while, but look for G-Sensor calibration in settings and do it. Reboot afterward.

It aborts everytime

Sometimes it just may need a restart to fix the auto-rotation. Reboot should fix it.

Sounds like you have a broken accelometer or its on its way going out. I had same problem g sensor won't calibrated at all now says abort everytime restarts do nothing.
I can't do anything that requires accelometer/g sensor and sounds like you have same problem.
Sorry man .
Reset your phone to default settings there's a great download in inspire development that will revert everything for you the call HTC and they will fix it for free as long as you restore everything to stock froyo or gb ruu. And you havnt tampered with anything etc etc .
HTC said 6-9 days for my phone to get fixed and back to me

Go to setting display and turn off all animations. Try that and see if it works

if you cant return it try rooting and installing a custom rom..might fix the problem. if you cant return it you've got nothing to lose
Nothing would work so I ended up just giving the phone a full reset and it works now.

[Q] Infuse Concerns

So Im just about to pickup the Infuse because my buddy is gonna sell it to me pretty cheap. He said that every now and then his phone when pressing on an app will not open the app but instead vibrate intermittently and pretty much need to be reset by taking out the battery. Is this a common issue with this phone and if so is there any fix for it (software updates, rooting, etc..) any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.- Im pretty sure I had this problem when I had the Captivate (3 months) until I got the Inspire...
i dont think you will know till you get it, it may just need to be reflashed and what not.
It's totally stock and he said that he's restored it once b4. I'm more looking for if others have had this issue.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium
If you use GPS, try it first to make sure it is locking and tracking accurately.
Yeah Ik the Captivate had some HORRID gps... My buddy told me that the Infuse was pretty decent and seemed to track ok...is this still an issue?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium
definitely not a common issue with this phone... hence, the reason he is selling it.
the intermittent vibrations indicate that the app he is trying to open is force closing - or that something else in the background is force closing.
however, this should not freeze up the phone to the point of needing to pull the battery.
Any thoughts on a cause or solution or what might cause it if it happens w/no apps added?
Idk if it'll happen with no added apps just talking in hypotheticals now

i have no clue. it could be any number of things.
you said your friend "restored" the phone once, so maybe he messed up flashing his previous rom, or maybe he messed something up going back to stock.
i wouldn't buy the phone - as i said, this isn't a common issue, and i'm not sure how you'd figure out exactly what the issue is in your situation.
just find a brand new infuse for cheap (i guess they are $50 at target sometimes), especially with the sgsII coming out soon - i'd imagine you can find a pretty good deal if you look hard enough.
He has never rooted done anything to it... Totally stock

Try asking him for a 3 day trial run, then install any custom ROM n see if the issue comes up. If yes, restore stock n give it back to him. If it doesn't u have a good deal.

You said he 'restored' it. He's definitely done SOMETHING to it.
Personally, I wouldn't buy it.
Restored as in factory reset that's in the settings....that way his apps/pics/contacts are not on it...
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium
that is some type of failure in the app...
when I have an app that does that I clear cache and data for that app, if that does not resolve the issue I uninstall and reinstall the app...
if that still doesn't fix it, I give up on that app
When its doing this... Is there an instant way to find out which app it is... He says there's no fc pop up on the screen

Screen freeze on wake

I recently flashed weapon g2x rom. Everything was cool til I woke my phone and tried unlocking it but the screen was unresponsive. I do a battery pull phone starts up up and screen is fine. Screen goes to sleep so I wake it up and try sliding to unlock but its unresponsive. Please help. BTW I am not putting any blame on weapon rom Dev team.

Did you properly wipe before you flashed the ROM? Is this happening on a clean install? (No apps)?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Followed the install instructions verbatim. BTW I was stock GB before flashing. Happened before I dloaded any apps. Now it freezes when making calls. When I take the phone away from mg ear the screen is unresponsive.

You might have a defective device. Does it tend to get hot whenever it locks up? How long have you had this issue for?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Flashed the rom 3 days ago and issue started today. Had this phone for 3 months. Doesn't get hot or even noticeably warm. I got the go locker app with ics lockscreen. After i wake it up its unresponsive for about 30 seconds then the backlight dims and becomes responsive again. Weird. Maybe restore back to froyo(nandroid)? Thanks for your replies.

Yep that is what he means. If you were on Froyo you may need to do the update and get the current Baseband.

Hey this may sound silly but if it's only the lockscreen not responding and you stating you are using the ics lockscreen, did you try with the default lockscreen to rule that out first?

Not silly at all. I tried the original lockscreen that came with weapon rom. I would wake the phone with no response but with go locker LS the screen responds after 30 seconds of unresponsiveness. Its weird but I don't think its a hardware issue. I'll post back after I restore back to Froyo. Thanks again guys
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yeah i agree, don't think it's a hardware issue. Restoring back or trying another rom would be a good test. Another question..are you using setcpu or any other app with a screen off profile?
Edit: Went back to read all the symptoms again and i had a similar situation and it was because my phone could not handle the lower voltages on the min freq with a few kernels. Morfic upped the lower freq voltage on his kernel and it has been working perfectly since. Worth a try.
Try this one: ELPmax 20122011 (1.1GHz Battery Saver w/ voodoo sound)
Tried flashing kernel and phone froze on Trinity load screen. Restored to nandroid but no luck. Updated to stock GB but no luck. I'm starting to think might be a problem with proximity/ light sensor cause of how the phone freezes up after I pull the phone away from my face after a call. Guess I'll send it to Texas for warranty repair.
Thanks to those that tried helping.

Did you format the "system" before flashing the new rom? Weapon works with no issues for me. I would stay away from custom kernels for now, until you have isolated the issue.
I would suggest backing up your user apps using titanium backup and installing them one by one to find the issue. Let the phone run a while between installing each app. Maybe even reboot each time. Also try fix permissions.
I know nothing about Go Locker, but is sounds like that is a good place to start.

Gizmoe's Stock Root v2 camera question

My camera makes a subtle "click" now when I open or close it, regardless of which camera app I'm using. Any idea what's causing that, or if it's dangerous in any way?

Do you know if it's coming from the speaker or the camera hardware. I don't hear a click on my phone so it could be the hardware itself coming lose. I turned on sound feedback to see if it clicked when opened and no sound either. Not sure what it could be. But if the camera is failing the worse that will happen is you will no longer have a camera. It's not dangerous in anyway I know of.
It doesn't do it on your vanilla stock, revolution hd, or cyanogen. As a matter of fact, after a restore, I just checked it, and it isn't doing it anymore. Weird. Maybe been a random glitch. I had to reboot several times to get the lock screen shortcuts you work. Not sure what was up with that.

Its not the Rom. It's your phone. Don't know what to tell ya.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
If it were my phone, wouldn't it be doing it on other ROMs (it doesn't do it on your rooted stock)? And it's not coming from the speaker: I've isolated the click to the actual camera. Is there a way to remove or disable the camera upgrade and see if that's what my phone doesn't like here? Otherwise, the ROM is perfect. My fave so far: revolution 7.0.4 just doesn't "feel" as solid to me.

That's the thing there is nothing that I did to the camera. It's complete stock and your the only person out of over 500 downloads that has mentioned this. If it was an issue then I would be getting more than one report. I also am using the same version and hear no click. The only thing that may be the cause is the kernel I am using but I don't see how. If you want, flash the bd ace kernel and see if it still happens. It could be a combo of a failing camera and the kernel I'm using. I don't think your crazy I just think there is something unique happening here. Wish I could be more help but without the device in my hand I can only make guesses.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
I'm gonna try redownloading your ROM, checking the md5 (is that necessary or just on radios?), in case I got a corrupted download first. Your work is awesome, believe me. I really like this ROM. I just noticed that click noise, but the camera works fine. If that doesn't work, I'll try the kernel you mentioned next. If all else fails, I'll take it down to vanilla stock. Thanks so much for your trouble.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
Ok, so nothing made a difference. It only makes the noise about 50% of the time. I googled it, and could only find a couple of Android Central posts about the same problem. You're 100% right: IT ISN'T THE ROM. Mine now does it in stock too. However, the others who posted it happening stated it was either "normal" or "it isn't hurting anything. Camera works fine months later." That gives me relief. Sounds like it's probably just old age. Some moving part getting crusty or something. Cool. Thanks for your input, giz.

Moonraker issue.

So I tried the Moonraker Rom yesterday, was awesome IMO. I just had one issue, when I would reboot my phone it would register my battery as dead and shut off before reaching the UI. But if I plugged it in, turned it on, then unplugged it it would read the correct percentage and stay that way until reboot. Is there a fix for this floating around? Kinda reminds me of the depressing "iOS x.x.xx tethered jb" days lol. Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app
Yes, no, maybe so? I'm currently using "dr no v3.0" and its great. Smooth, reliable, fast. But I would really like to experiment with the moonraker rom, just don't want to deal with the battery issue, am I the only one having it?
