Wait until a dev picks it up and makes something for it. I highly doubt much will get done on the Atrix 2.

I didn't think the atrix 2 was even out yet
I saw a few rumors on the internet that it was to be in the ATT stores on Oct 16 (tomorrrow, in my time zone). I called two local ATT stores and neither had received any stock. One of the store guys said they get new price sheets on Sunday and the Atrix 2 was not on this past weeks sheet. He told me to call back tomorrow and ask if it is on the new sheet..
I got the atrix 2 this morning i am also looking for root
I am looking for root can anybody help us get root. Is Atrix 2 gonna have its own section on xda?

Someone needs to make an Atrix 2 section because all of these new Atrix 2 owners will be coming over here and clogging up everything. Atrix 2's aren't really even close to the original so Atrix 2 owners need to stop posting here.

Atrix 2 is Cheaper by 100 dollars and if you go to Wal-Mart and or Amazon.com the phone is $49.99. One MAJOR Reason people will pick this over the SGSII considering not Everyone has money to just throw around. That and the fact that AMOLED Screens get Burn In which No One Ever Mentions. But just throwing those few reasons out there.
If you're signing a 2 year contract I don't know why the extra $100 is a big deal when you're increasing your bill 25 per month for 2 years. The Galaxy S2 will be down to $150 soon too.

Android version on the device is 2.3.5 not the 2.3.4 that is on the Atrix 1.
So far nothing that I have found will do anything to 2.3.5
I started with a Atrix 1 (2 was not out when I decided to upgrade) but the speaker died on it with in a week so I went to the Atrix 2 and so far like it much better.
What about trying the method they are using for the bionic? last night I was looking and it seems they have found root access after their update to 2.3.5? It looks like the way we rooted the OG but with some newer access?

As someone who owns both, I would recommend you stick it out and wait for the magic of an unlocked bootloader and custom ROMs to unlock the full potential of this phone and its dual-core CPU.
Compared to my Inspire, the battery life, lighter weight, better call quality, better antenna, and what seems to be crisper screen make my move from one to the other worth it.
I came from an Inspire, don't trade for it.... I love HTC phones, but I had a ton of oddities, with it.
There are a ton of things that can be done with out an unlocked bootloader, even ROMs, this phone has only been out a little over 60 days, hang tight there will be a ton of great things for this phone.
If you must trade for a mid line phone think about a used sgs, or an Infuse. If you really want a TOP end then go for an unlocked galaxy nexus.
Otherwise hang tight, and use bloat freezer, for the bloat on this phone, it is not bad for a stock build. If you don't like Blur, go get ADW launcher or Go Launcher Pro, or something like that.

Don't do it.
I can't say that I'm jumping ship, but since my Atrix 2 is stuck in a bootloop and probably will be until the bootloader gets unlocked, I just ordered an Inspire from GreenCells to get me by in the meantime. As soon as the Atrix gets unf*cked though, you can bet I'll be switching back.
I've had so many f**king problems with this thing it insane. I've exchanged this phone 3 times at best buy cause of the same problems and once w/ AT&T. Its also suffering from many of the same things. I think the Atrix 2 should have been fixed or both at the same time.

Unless you got your phone online or over the phone, they aren't going to send you another phone, let alone an upgrade. If you got the Atrix 2 from a store, you're going to have to take it back to the store. If you've had the phone for more than a month, they will tell you to call warranty exchange to get a refurbished replacement, but not before spending copious amounts of time troubleshooting first. If you have been with AT&T for a long time, without any shutoffs, or a late payment history, you can try the "I'll cancel my service" routine, which usually doesn't work, because you will still have pay an ETF. Basically, they own you until your contract expires. It sucks, but that's how AT&T rolls.

Best is very subjective. It would depend how you use your phone. Someone who uses their phone for media will look for something different than someone who needs their phone for calls and reading emails and needs it to last all day on one charge.
I need a phone that gets better than average reception because of where I live.
That being said, the Samsung Galaxy 3 will be tough to beat.

Will u be leaving the a2 for sgs3? Or making the a2 a back up?
I recently moved from the atrix 2 to the galaxy nexus. I am loving it. I still have my atrix though as a backup.
Personally with exception to the camera, the phone is overall just better. The camera is only 5 megapixels but at the same time the colors on Samsung cameras are so much more vibrant than on the moto cameras.
That and I am loving ics on this. Its pretty. Made by Samsung but no touchwiz with no rom flashing is nice as well.

Backup smackup.... I will be using the A2 for straight up dev work & hacking and cracking of the bootloader, also hoping to find a way to get AOSP/AOKP going on this thing...
I already have a kernel and CM9 built for the SGS 3, so I should not have a whole lot of dev work on that phone... that is the thing about the Galaxy phones, they are a dream to develop for.
I'm sure it will come along shortly enough, curious as to who will take the lead on this one.

They spent 900 bucks plus airfare to get to IO I don't think anyone will touch Jelly Bean until source is released in mid July. SDK ports are buggy as all get out and nothing more than proof of concept. We still won't have a fully functional ROM until LG releases ICS source. On the bright side, drivers should be able to be ported from ICS to JB, until GB to ICS.
i see Paul at modaco.com already has JB rom w/kitchen for the galaxy nexus the G2x versions will be uber gimped due to lg's inability to release the source to the dev community. reason why i sold my g2x for a gnex and haven't looked back.

Haven't the previous Google direct Galaxy phones been outdated rather quickly? Maybe not outdated, but left behind in terms of OTA's and things like that?
I mean, people will argue the galaxy s2 is a better phone than Nexus...and now the s3 just came out! For one (only one?) of the only devices to come pre-packaged with ICS, it seems to lack certain functionality and features that carrier specific phones have.

Read the beginner's guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650) to get an idea of where development for this phone is first. Locked bootloader (with no change in sight), an ICS update which has been moved from Q3 to an indefinite point in the future - it seems like Moto is trying to let this phone quietly die. If you're okay with that then sure, go for it... personally, I would opt for something made by a different company.
Locked down bootloader!
Enough said. I will give it a miss.
Thanks.

Well this a good place to cross-link threads: the Support My Moto Campaign - I see a few of us have already been over in that thread... not sure what we will really get out of this, but it's a good consolidated effort I suppose.
And, what you all talking 'bout? We already got some jelly beans for our phone (cm10 - pretty good start, so far) - and, I am pretty optimistic that we will get some other flavors of JB too.. so, I guess the news is not so disappointing.
On the other hand, I will be taking advantage of Moto in any way I can, so gimme that 100 virtual bucks!
Probably use it for my wife's A2 - she don't need unlocked bootloaders - heck, she wants me to put her back on GB after a week of ICS
Moto seems to make good quality phones/handsets.. but I will most likely move on to another manufacturer and keep my A2 as a backup.
Edit: We are on that list, but the plain ol' RAZR (xt910/912) is not?!? That's just wrong...

Yea man. The best way to do it, if you WANT a phone, save up the money and pay what you have to. Contracts get way out of hand when it comes to the small things. I'm currently tied down myself, but not for much longer. I'll most likely keep the A2 as a back up though since its still a very good piece of hardware AND I've grown quite fond of my A2 community (good people). And, honestly, I may or may not go with another Moto phone. It just all depends.
But all in all, this whole deal with Moto really doesn't bother me as bad as others are bothered. I mean come on, this phone is the shiz, and Moto really does make great phones. Its just from a developers point of view where things get sour.
Yes I went off topic a bit, but sometimes its needed for others to read and relate to.
