Once rooted can SU file be deleted from SD card? - HTC Sensation

I was able to get S-OFF and root my phone yesterday. It was surprisingly easy to do. Much easier than jailbraking an iphone, but that is a different story/forum.
My question: Once root is achieved can the su file that is placed on the SD card be deleted?

Of course, the SU zip is only for flashing. It's contents are copied to the system and afterwards the system will no longer access the zip files.

Thank you.

Can no longer root my phone after JH7 update

I have spent the afternoon trying to re-root after applying the JH7 update I downloaded from AT&T. It kick the root out of my phone and I have tried everything to root the thing again... Unleash the Beast, the basic root, one click root... all I get is this when I go into recovery and click install packages:....
E:can't open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory) Installation aborted
Help!!!
Problem solved... Interesting though. no matter how many times I tried to copy update.zip to the root of the internal SD card, it wouldn't copy. I mounted my phone, opened the the explorer, dragged and dropped/copied and pasted, the phone won't allow the file to be copied to the internal SD. I then took and copied the file to my external SD, then used ROOT EXPLORER to copy and paste into the root of the internal SD, then went into recover mode, re-install packages and then the file was found and installed. I'm not sure whether this has to do with AT&T's JH7 update or not. When I did update, my phone was no longer rooted and my ability to re-root in the normal fashion was gone. Is this something AT&T has done to try and prevent people from rooting??? I don't know, but now I know the easiest way... Use Root Explorer!!!

if what you say is true, then you will be unable to use your ~14GB of internal storage. I would make sure it is not your pc.

[Resolved] Phone unable to use internal SD

I just has my USCC Galaxy S3 replaced under warranty. To save my internal SD files, I used an ADB pull /storage/sdcard0 in recovery. When I got the new phone rooted and CM10 installed, I booted to recovery and used an ADB push to restore the files. The files all ended back on the SD card, but now my apps cannot write to the folders on the SD card. The permissions are set to 644, and I cannot change them. I have tried with chmod and through file managers to change to 777, and although they claim success, the permissions stay 644. I'm unsure where to go from here, but I really would like to keep these files on my device. Any ideas on how to fix these permissions? Thanks!
Try copying/moving files around using the phone's file manager, & see if the changes stick. Also try "adb shell" -> "su", and change permissions that way, & see if it sticks.
Make sure you have an updated busybox.
Well, I tried moving them with file manager, su and updated busybox, changing permissions, and then I finally decided to go into recovery, pull, and format /sdcard. Once I did that, my apps were able to use the card again. I then was able to copy over the files via usb mount to windows. This seems to be working so far.
Thanks!

Can you gain access into a device's internal sd card even though you have a bootloop?

I got into bootloop after installing some apps and I am just wondering if I can access my nandroid backup folder on my PC....coz apparently I need to change the folder name in order to get rid of "MD5 mismatch" during restoration in clockwork mod recovery.
Thanks in advance.
By default, the backup folder is on the sd card. If your device has a removable card, you can just put it into your pc & access it. You can also access it through USB by using adb commands, but you must have previously turned on debugging mode in the settings.
It's also handy to have AROMA Filemanager on your sd card. You flash it in recovery like any other zip (it doesn't make any changes, just launches the file manager). It also comes with a terminal emulator. It's quite powerful, and extremely handy when you can't get your system to boot up.

[Q] 12S and SD card question

I've got 12S, rooted and all things seem to work well. I have a singular SD card question:
When I boot into system, I can read and write to the SD card just fine. There is one exception, I am unable to copy/see/read my TWRP backups with any app, and when I plug in my phone, which is booted into system/desktop, Android File Transfer sees all things on my SD card just fine, except TWRP backups. Root explorer is the same, it sees all files, etc on the SD card, except for the TWRP backups.
I can boot into recovery and Android File Transfer will see the backups fine, and I can copy from there. I'd like to be able to work with them while booted into system. I have used the TWRP SD fix, which does not change anything.
I am using Selinux to soften permissions. When I try and use Root Explorer or the like, to fully open up the permission of the TWRP directory or backups, I get a "Permissions Change Failed".
Any help is appreciated.

HTC M8 No TWRP folder

I am trying to unroot my m8 and I have found a tutorial with correct way to do it. I have to copy a file into the root of my internal storage called TWRP but it is not there. I used it to root my phone and I can load it. The folder just doesn't exist. I try and make one but it will make one but not name it.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

The TWRP folder can only be accessed through a folder explorer app like RootExplorer or ES File Explorer as the folder is not on the devices "SD card" storage. To move a file there you will need to copy it to your phones SD Card space using your computer and then move it across to the TWRP folder using a file manager like the ones mentioned above.
Hope I could help and feel free to ask if you need any more advice on moving the files across
