ROM: CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
Kernel: faux123 0.4.2 OC
Market: 3.1.5
I've seen this in several threads, but still haven't found a definite solution. Market will only show a handful of my 200+ applications. Running Market Doctor from Titanium Backup doesn't help. Fixing permissions in ROM Manager doesn't help. The only thing that brings my applications back is clearing the data for the Market app. At that point, I go into Market, agree to their terms and conditions, see all my apps, select to install all updates and these run fine. The next time I go into Market, I only see a few again. Sometimes, I am presented with the dialog to agree to their terms and conditions again.
This only started happening a few weeks ago and it's very annoying. I was hoping someone has found a solution to this problem by now, since it has been reported since the early days of the new Market.
Try "Eris Market Fix" available in the market. It has worked for me and many others. It was designed for the Droid Eris but works great on the G2x.

Thank you, but no luck. Even after successfully running this tool and rebooting the phone, I only see the same few apps (see attachment). Any other ideas?

Sorry partner. That's all I got. Someone passed it on to me and it has worked every time when installing new roms and restoring from TI. I used it yesterday when upgrading to Weapon G2x. I guess it could be rom dependent. I know little about the deep dark secrets of android. I just try to pass on things that I have picked up here and there.
I am guessing you already tried deleting the market and reinstalling it?

Update. This seems to have solved the problem! I went to Settings>Applications>All>Market, cleared cache, cleared data and uninstalled updates (effectively bringing me back to Market v1), rebooted, installed Market 3.1.3 (google for APK) and I was able to see all my apps. I rebooted the phone, went back in and they were all there still. Thanks a lot for your suggestion!
I've noticed using a lower DPI would cause the market to misread your phone and leave put apps. They may have fixed this since I've tested but maybe not.

Ok so I have this installed on my phone and I have no clue what it is, never installed it nor can I find a way to uninstall it. Anyone else have it installed and if so did you find a way to delete/uninstall it?
It has the same thing in my downloads section of the market. The app doesn't show up in the app list under settings, though. It's really an annoyance and I think it is also causing the market to give me a false update notification. My boyfriend's phone does not have it installed and is not having any sort of the same issue with the market.
The only thing I think will clear it is a factory reset.
Update: I did a factory reset and before everything restored and I started using apps, it wasn't there. After I started using a few apps it was. No way to get rid of it until you reset the phone again. I don't know which app is causing it, but the few that I did open were task panel, eReader, and a word game. I removed them and reset. It has been quite a few hours after heavy use and it hasn't showed up in my downloads. I suspect one of those apps.
bump
this is really aggravating and many people dont even realize they have it on their phone. I have two nexus ones and its on both of them and on both phones i get the damn phantom application update notification. Has anyone figured out anything more about this? thank you
Where are you guys seeing it? I'm a pretty heavy app user, having installed/uninstalled quite a few, and haven't done any type of wipe; however, I'm not seeing what you're describing.

I believe the the old openhome app had the class name com.google.launcher2 this is same name that google have now used for the new launcher hence the market thinks its installed... which is isn't.
Has anyone tried to install open home & then uninstall? Maybe it will get rid of both...

Weird. I don't have that. You guys should use atrackdog to generate an installed alp list and compare them for commonalities.
Like all issues with this phone, I don't know if I'm supposed to contact HTC, google, or T-Mobile. Sound like a software issue so I'm guessing google?

I am not sure why you would need to guess in this case. It is neither a hardware or a plan problem. Google is your source for a solution. This is very likely dues to a previous installation of Open Home on an older android. As to why you can not uninstall it I can not answer, but at the least I do not have it in my installed software list.
Are you rooted? If so, you could go in and delete the apk from /data/app

Um, because Apps aren't vetted? com.google is just a java namespace it doesn't change anything or give you magic permissions.
Most likely openhome grew from someone starting with the launcher source and renaming it by adding "2" then tweaking it. The only bug here is that the market is looking for installed apps by "pname" whereas atrackdog doesn't.
Its a Market display bug guys, the app is _not_ on your phone.

Just use it for the DVR management, definitely worth it. You can use the channel guide or search by time and even future dates. Much better than the mobile website. That alone is worth the download.
If you search the actual available content to watch it is all older programming and select channels. This is not a "slingbox" replacement app by any means. All the U300 package will give you with this app is the ability to download and watch certain older programming. Sorry should have clarified my above post.

U-Verse on Droid
Hi there. I installed the U-verse mobile app on my Verizon Droid. (Thanks for that!) It seems to work fine until I attempt to download shows to my phone from the 'Show Library.' I get a message saying it can't be done because of system issues. Has anybody else had success downloading shows? Or does my not being on AT&T's actual network prevent me from doing it?
Thanks,
ej
Can't say for sure that it is from not being on AT&T's network but it looks to be that way. I can't download and watch shows on my EVO. I said all along that when they finally did release an Android App it would probably only be compatible with AT&T android phones. the bastards!
Had the same problem. Make sure you are on WiFI and then try it a few times. It will eventually work. Im running original droid as well.
Hmmn
jim, I've tried it with Wi-Fi and 3G, both ways get me this message "Cannot Subscribe. Thank you for your interest. Subscription cannot be completed at this time due to system issues. Please try again later."
This happens when I click Agree to Terms of Service, and the denial message appears instantaneously, as if it's a built in denial that shows before a connection is even attempted.
Maybe there is a setting on my phone I don't know about?
Question:
When I install the app, one of the things it asks for is permission to call phone numbers. I can understand why it asks for other permissions, like changing network connectivity (downloading shows only over wifi).... but I can't figure out what the app does that needs phone call permissions. Does anybody have any insight on this?
Btw, the app works great on my phone. Can't download shows, as I only have U200. For those who have previously posted about not being able to install the app on your phone, the user guide says it works on android 2.1 and higher, for phones on the list. (I didn't see a list, though).
Works on the vibrant after hours of trial and error.not much to download and watch though.

Not sure how though.
I thought I'd be able to watch shows I had recorder to the DVR, but that was hoping for too much I guess.

It's apart of CM7 or some ROMs. It is PinyIME, it is a Google keyboard that allows English -> Chinese.
Could you also CHILL OUT? Stop going "OMFG WHAT IS THIS?!?!?!?!?!??!" It's just a app, nothing malicious. Open Titanium Backup and simply uninstall it (or use ADB/Root Explorer) whatever you want.

It's on your device because you put it there. It's part of the firmware, not part of the "device."
You installed a non-stock firmware then panicked when you found a non-stock application running. Did you even consider reading about whatever firmware you're running to see what it comes with?

I can fault you for the way you reacted to it, considering you have 3000+ posts. I expected a more mature post. You obviously installed a non-stock ROM (or applied mods because you have battery %). The old CM7 nightlies included the same exact app, PinyIME. It's pretty much just a keyboard.
And agreed with mstevens. You flashing custom ROMs, you shouldn't be surprised if random apps are included with the ROM.

I recently received another scammish text which led me to suspect an app or apk I installed was to blame (possibly). Is there a way to chronologically see things I've installed on my phone. Stock Downloads app won't work because if I deleted the apk or installed it in a different way it won't show. There should be a way to see all of the things you've installed non market, apks, modules, or whatever. To be able to trace back and find a culprit. Kinda like a criminal rap sheet.
Your best bet is TITANIUM BACKUP !!! Sort all apps by date installed it will give you time installed !!!

Haven't heard of such a thing. Sorry.
Titanium can tell you app installs, even play store kinda keeps track. Initial install order anyway.
But to track apps, mods, alterations...anything? Nope. And flashing in recovery would not be trackable inside the O/S anyway.

Basically, if there isn't some kind of a thing on the play store....then it doesn't exist.
Scam texts are pretty common in some countries. I don't think it has anything to do with an app you installed unless you gave Snapchat your phone number as they got hacked a while back.
No snap chat for me. I thought of this idea for logs of this stuff before. There's got to be a way!

If you made an app to log package installs it would be a waste of time + have to be running on your device all the time. It'll also hardly be of any use, since most people aren't installing like 20 apps a day, every day. Just write it down if you really need to LOL.
For packages you currently have installed via Play or .apk installation you could go into /data/app and look at the dates on the .apk files. If you flashed something in recovery it'll show up as August 1 1970 or August 1 2008 or whatever generic date. As said previously, Titanium Backup uses this if you sort by date lol.
Edit, example (most mine are 25 July since I restored them through Titanium Backup):

I bet it is a rogue app or many that hasn't been fixed or updated for 7.1. Try removing all old apps and adding back one by one. This is a common issue with new versions of Android

Greenify doesn't fix it, only way so far is applying the update. You can root on the latest update so no reason not to do it.
Assuming your rooted, what's happening is the seamless update feature is repeatedly downloading and attempting to install in background and failing since there is root. Turn off automatic updates in developer options and/or sideload newest ota
