[Q] I need an uncorrupted "NewStock.tar.md5" file... - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi all,
I realized after the first response I received to this question, I needed to explain my situation in a little more detail....
My Infuse is soft bricked. I can get it to the Samsung logo, but that is as far as it will go. This happened after flashing the .zip file for CWM in the modified recovery. I have downloaded the following packages five times over, and I can never get a valid MD5 hash from the files.

After putting my phone into download mode and starting up Odin, it always comes up as MD5 invalid, and it will not go any further. I believe it is my rather ****ty internet connection that is causing the file to become corrupted, and thus invalid every time.
My question is, can I pay someone $5 to send me the "NewStock.tar.md5" file on a CD, or is there a different way to flash my phone so I can get it working again? Any help is appreciated!
PS I would have posted this in the dev section under the posts in question, except that this is my first post, and the forum wouldn't allow it.

Look for Hash Tab on CNet for Windows or Hash Droid in the Marketplace and hash the file from your phone.

need the stock firmware for my sgh-t959v

i was really really stupid and decided to try and install darky's resurrected rom on my new sgh-t959v. After doing it and it not going past the 'installing csc' prompt i decided to try and mount a different pit. i got a working setup out of luck, but now my sim card doesn't work. i got a new sim card and still no signal. i only managed to write down the baseband version before messing it up like this. now that i've read that mixing a pit file from one region with a csc file from another is dangerous. i just need the stock pit csc and phone files. it's been driving me nuts because i just got this phone and all of a sudden can't use it. i've learned my lesson but i really need to fix it. i don't think darky's will work on mine since it's so new.
btw i found the source for my phone,(can't put link here because i don't have over 8 posts) my model and version are listed there. the only problem is i'm a noob at developing(getting into it) and can't compile all this stuff. is there a guide to compiling it? i was hoping to compile the source from that site and try to port it. how would i go about making the source into the pit csc and modem files?
sorry for such a ****ty problems guys. hope someone can help thanks in advance.
super buuuuump!!!
bump, i want my foooone herpaderp!
what's the difference between pit files that are 512, 803, 513? what's this number represent?
so i just tried to flash some other 'custom' rom that was perfect for my phone. i tried it with a different pit file that i thought would work. but now the device doesn't respond to anything! i turned it off and it won't turn on at all now not even to download mode. i'm freaking out what do i do!!!
welp i didn't want to wait. just to update everyone i took it to a local tech who flashed it to stock but couldn't fix the fudged bootloader. i messed it up when it failed a rom flash and i pulled it out in the middle of flashing. so i'm sending it back and getting another one by tuesday
yes, i need it too.
Same problem, anyway know where download this firmware???
No Custom ROM
A word to the wise: The Samsung sgh-t959v for t-mobile does not allow you to put a custom ROM. If anyone knows how to, please advice. I have a new sgh-t959v and don't want to make the same mistake of bricking it where "adb reboot download" command didn't even work because the phone died.

The EASY WAY to Flash a new Radio ( NO ADB )

I had been looking into Flashing the NEW Radio recently and was put off by people saying you can easily brick your device "CAUTION" and use ADB and push this here and push this there and it gave alot of people an uneasy fealing. So now that I was schooled on how to do it the EASY WAY I figured I would pass this on to anyone needing the correct info. Always Verify your MD5 SUM Prior to installation.
1: Find the new radio of your choice. Make sure it is named PD15IMG!! ( It should be allready )
2: Use an MD5Sum tool, such as ManD5 from the Android Market to compare the MD5 hash of the original download to the MD5 of your downloaded radio image. FLASHING A CORRUPTED RADIO IMAGE WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
3: Place the PD15IMG radio zip file onto your SD card (just like you would a new ROM).
4: Boot into H-BOOT. I use quick boot from the market (just push Bootloader button)
5: Once in H-BOOT select BootLoader. it will ask you to apply update? Yes
6: Let file load completely. you will see a status bar on top right of screen.
7: It will prompt you to reboot... do so and let it load. you will now have a new radio.
This turned out to be so easy.
But as with all the different ways to do somthing, you do this @ your own risk. I cant be responsible if YOU F-UP!!
With that being said, Happy EASY Radio Flashing.
I used this exact Method on my MT4G and it worked Flawless. NOTE: I did Delete the PD15IMG file on SD after proper install, so I would not have any issues with the file after installation. Also so it would'nt get confused with other radio files.
NOTE: It doesnt matter if you used G-Free Method to ROOT, or VISIONary/ROOT.SH method. This will work. I do recommend that you have the ENG. BOOTLOADER.
Correct MD5's for the New Radio's:
•26.03.00.04
md5: ea7a58f16a6f9a7d8ffe96d42db10485
•26.03.02.26 (Stock)
md5: e4e7cb2e5bf58a5222cb1f8ae91499e1
•26.08.04.30
md5: 3d054d4bdbb0e6b81954e5742c8ba24f
•26.09.04.26
md5: f27e4686302fa7e6a72965f80495df44
It's not that people are trying to scare you by going the adb route to install the radio, it's just that you can check md5sum easily that way. If you download a corrupted file and try to flash it, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. This method is fine for people who are familiar with flashing on android but to noobs it's very dangerous. I think you should add to op that you can download an app from the market like Android File Verifier for free to check md5sum, that way someone doesn't try your method and end up bricking their phone. And believe me, it its very possible to download a corrupted file. Just the other day I went to flash the newest radio, I downloaded, checked the md5sum and it wasn't even close, so I deleted it, downloaded from the same link and got the correct one on second try. If I would have flashed without verifying, I would have an expensive paper weight on my hands. Better to be safe than sorry!

I been wanting to flash a new radio, but I'm not sure if I can because I went with the visionary and root.sh route and I read that s-off with radio is different with being just s-off. So, Im wondering, is still possible to flash a radio without going thru the g-free way?

That is horrible advice. Your steps skip verifying the files MD5 signature. If you try to flash a radio from a corrupt file, you will brick your phone. The chances of a bad download a low, but I would never ever risk it...
Also, the method above is the exact same actual flashing method as what's in the official radio thread in the Dev section. You just use another method to move the file to your SD and skip the MD5 verification. If ADB scares you so much, you can always use an app like ManD5 instead. Whatever method you use, verify the MD5 before flashing!
Yes visionary will allow for radio flashing. I'm running sense 3.0 virtuous, newest videotron radio. All with visionary, never touched gfree on this device.

I totally agree with doing it the easy way, but not at the risk of skipping the step on verifying md5. Adb is essentially doing the same thing as dropping the file onto root of sd anyways. Run the verifier and then complete original steps. Happy flashing!

ADB doesnt scare me!! It sure does scare alot of people that are unsure how to use it. You guys are correct and I will add to the OP The APP that shows how to find your MD5 SUM.
But really Bashing me for this EASY WAY to do things is pathatic!! Go Troll somewhere else.
The Method here is not the same as the radio OP. That OP is ADB specific!! Get your FACTS Straight!! I was done in 2 Minutes doing it this way.
The only thing I ever really used ADB for was to Flash new splashscreens and even now you can do it with terminal emulator.
Thanks! I, myself was afraid to flash it but your way totally was a piece of cake! Don't mind the simple people.

I really hope you were talking about the other guy and not me. I wasn't bashing or trolling, just stating facts. Android File Verifier is really easy to use, just open app, find file, then long press the file and select check md5sum. I agree that your way is easier, just not as safe, unless you add some sort of way to verify the file.
Edit: I now see that you quoted the other guys post lol
Edit again: lol just seen updated op too!
I'm trying to protect users from screwing up their phones and you accuse me of trolling? Give me a break.
YOU need to get your facts straight. The official radio thread uses the exact same method of flashing as your instructions (through hboot). The only difference is you omit the important step of verifying the MD5.

I'm glad I was able to spare users from bricking their phones as per your original instructions.
AHHHH finally got the courage to do it. I'm now on 26.08.04.30, I'll do a bit of testing over a couple days and see how it goes.
I used a simple MD5 checker on my pc and then android file verifier on my phone, then did it. I notice that I'm getting 2 bars of H in my room, usually get weak 3g or edge.

That's not a bad idea. I want you to know the only reason I said anything is because skipping the file integrity verification is a bad idea. There's nothing wrong with avoiding using ADB if you can accomplish the same thing with other methods, but I know people who have bricked their phones by flashing a radio from a file that was corrupt (they didn't check the MD5, one guy with an OG Droid and one with an Incredible). The guy who posted the original radio thread knows what he's talking about, that's why he included that very important step in his procedure. So all I was doing was pointing out what missing, and probably came across too harsh.
I wasn't trying to troll or start a flame war or anything. Just trying to help others in the same way as I've been helped over the years. As it stands now, your procedure is indeed easier and safe as well.

You can flaunt this method all you want, but it's really just the same as the ADB one, just no commands and a different form of checking the MD5. Not to detract from the fact that you made doing this much more understandable and a little less daunting which was very good of you to do. But in any case, yes. I used this method.

Cool... I should have added it from the start because I do know better, but I was reminded to add to check MD5 Promptly. I am not trying to upstage anyone saying it's the only method, but IMHO is the most easy & fastest way I have seen. As you can see a couple of people have tried it and agree. I think we should all be able to get along in this thread as its is only an attempt at Helping people out. Mainly newer members. Peace...

I agree. There is a way to say things and a way to help people without being pompous and rude. Maybe post "important correction" instead of telling someone they're giving "horrible" advice in italics.

[MODEM] [ODIN] EE4 Modems

This is the EE4 Radio.
I take no responsibility for you ruining your phone.
The links to the other modem files found in the other threads are all 3 megabyte files and they do not work correctly when trying to flash the EE4 Modem back from EP1Q/W Modems. This is the CDMA and LTE modems.
I experienced much higher download speeds and reliability in Central and Northern Florida with EE4 than EP1 after weeks of testing.
Again, this is a Odin flashable .md5 file that works great when trying to go back to EE4. It may take up to 3 minutes to complete, DO NOT close the app or unplug the phone after Odin shows it has began flashing.
Instructions:
1. Turn your Charge off
2. Plug in the phone to your PC
3. Hold the down Volume button until the yellow triangle Download Mode is active
4. Open Odin
5. Click PDA only (DO NOT CLICK ANY OF THE OTHERS) and Find this file you downloaded.
6. AGAIN, make sure you're on PDA. DO NOT choose PIT, Phone, or CSC as it may soft brick your phone.
7. Click Start and wait until phone reboots.
*If you get the Failed message, unplug the phone, remove the battery, close Odin and repeat from 1. Be sure that after it has began flashing you leave it plugged in. Some users on other forums have experienced fried Sim cards or fried radios when swapping so do this at your own risk.

Yes, but if you've tried flashing it with Odin, you may find to your surprise it definitely will not work. Those are only 3 megabyte files, this is both modems at 14 megs. This one that is posted above works flawlessly and is ready to flash. The others must be unzipped? This guide and file is much more n00b friendly. Since it is the case that you just have to unpack it, why not just go with one that is ready to be flashed like the above. I didn't have anything that was able to unzip .7z on my computer.
I personally did not like EP1 and it took me forever, flashing and flashing getting "fails" in Odin to finally realize you must unpack the other modem files and chose to seek outside sources for the modem.md5 file. I tried two that were posted on XDA and one other from another site before I finally found the above.
Edited: because it is unnecessary to explain the problems I had. Instructions are in my two posts.

Yes, the one from the thread I referenced needs to be unpacked - you just need a program like 7-Zip (check here for download), although a similarly-based program called jZip (check out here for info) has a much more familiar feeling interface - I've used version 1.3 and had no problems. The nice thing about the compressed files is it takes less time/bandwidth for upload/download, but using the ones you reference here definitely cuts out a step! Another useful guide that might be worth checking out can be found here - the hope is that it is also somewhat noob friendly... hopefully you will agree!
Has ANYONE used the EE4 radios posted in this thread?
Thanks
Yes. I'm on them now.

Bricked..

My friend asked me to root his phone. When I asked him what phone he had, he told me it was a samsung vibrate.. however I found out that it is actually a sgs4g.. I flashed it with vibrant and now I have a vibrate boot loop / soft brick. I have searched around the forums and tried several jars and tars using heimdall and odin, however they all just fail. I have been trying for several hours now and am not getting any luck, especially since multiupload is dead. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I am able to get into download mode (I have seen both variations (I.E. Digging droid and the orange triangle)). I believe it was on gingerbread.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Use the Heimdall One-Click guide in the second link of my signature. Go ahead and flash with bootloaders to be safe. And yes - that is download mode you see.
Afterwards - you can look at the guide in the first link of my signature for links to stable GB custom ROM's to flash.
I got the error "local and device PIT files don't match and repartition wasn't specified"
I remember trying this method once. However I got the same error after pushing 'ok' and flashing for a second time.
Edit -I flashed with bootloaders anyways (didnt do that step the first time). Thank you so much.

i bricked my phone installing the wrong rom and used one click unbrick. worked great!

[Q] something happened now i havw the firmware upgrade encountered an issue error

this is the only screen i can get into although when i plug odin in it dees it as if it is in download mode. ALTHOUGH the only tar file i have for this phone fails every time. so i am stuck with this error please dont tell me i Bricked someone else s phone cause i don't really have the money. so really finding the right files is the only think keeping me from getting both an a$$ whoopin and have to buy a new phone cant afford and to play the saddest song on the worlds smallest violin i freaking vut the tip off my thumb the other day and just getting this phone to work will make my life a little better (i know everyone has issues but this is also a disabled persons phone so she needs a lifeline so unless this works ill be trading a SGS3 for An SGS Brick. in all i have been reading and some have fixed this but with the correct file for the device so i am on my knees pleading with the community to help me fix this phone also she has MS and if you know about MS you will be helping out a woman who doesnt need more stress in her life thanks in advance (also sorry in advance as i am typing this with one hand (my thumb top is cut off) so sorry for the bad typing and formatting

Yeah it is an SGH-T959V
I just cant find the right files to use. I think it is a error download mode as Odin does not (AFAIK) detect the phone when its not in download mode? It shows up on Odin no problem although and PDA file i try fails i think it may be boot-loader too??
The phone wants me to connect to kies and fix it. Its part of the error message. I installed kies (I never really had it except for drivers so i don't know the program but it does not detect the phone (i believe because it has been modified??)
Basically an Odin flash got shut off early that started this problem then i tried to Re-Flash the same file and it failed so basically i cant find first, the information i need to fix this error on this phone, I have seen some other Samsung phones with this error and they were all fixed with Odin and a couple files to flash and it works on those phone on you tube.So I BELIEVE AND HOPE that someone has placed the knowledge needed to do this online i cant find it. So after finding out what to do is also get the files i would be lucky if they are on the same page and are working links as everything i look for information on this phone i get broken links as most posts are about a year old (i suppose when interest in this phone started to wain GREATLY in not so much development (thanks devs you guys rock) but users having problems they don't know how to fix like me because Imm not even close to a dev of any kind.
Thanks and sorry for the long post for one question. (also i did not flash the wrong phone type although IDK if this is just as bad)
Thanks for all the help I hope to resolve this. I just don't have the money to buy a new phone for her and i effed hers up and being disabled she needs a lifeline at all times so i need to get this fixed ASAP i appreciate all your help,
So.. I think what you need is to try the gremlin remover. If you have working odin drivers it should work.
i have the usb drivers in the seance that the computer (when formatted correctly) recognizes it as a media device or something and right now not only does Odin find it but my computer even makes the notify noise when i connect although their is no device the computer seams to know its their.
I can try gremlin remover but then what should i do? I thought gremlin remover was a tool to remove un needed files from your sd card partition? Although IDK ill check that out and try not ill post back with my efforts. The problem is i don't think i have the correct files for Odin. Superoneclick did not work for this phone so i used Odin and an old Rom it was still the needed GB file though. ANYWAY i have lost all files maybe after i use gremlin i can use hemdall?? IDK i would think Odin would be better although currently idk the state of my phone will hemdall think its already rooted etc also kies wont work i would think its because of it not having a Samsung boot loader (i hope one of any kind) I hope gremlin remover works if not and Just in case if anyone is following please don't hesitate to wait for my responses just post how to fix this and ill try it all and whoever helps most gets a gold star LOL in all I am desperate for help and will try anything that wont make it worse. (if it can get worse)
Have you tried a different cord? Different usb port? Most recommend using the ports on the back of the computer.
Which thread/Rom were you flashing?
I have tried moving the usb cord to different ports odin and gremlin both tell me it has been added with a yellow color in the box. then everything i have tried fails.
I cant seam to find the file i used for some reason although i know it was the latest file (the reason why is also because i was using an older stock firmware when i first rooted this phone) i have been looking for something to fix this for it feels so long now i may have lost it for a little while or accidentally deleted it.
I was REALLY hoping Gremlin remover would work, hemdall doesn't work either (all detect but always fail). I am hoping this is not bricked all i need are the correct files and order to flash them using odin? for all of the fixes for this error on other devices it seams to be a bootloader error and must flash 2-3 different files with odin to make it work again rooted or not. a pda file a bootloader file and sometimes another. I hope that methods would work for me since i have the same error and all these programs detect my phone but for some reason (none say) why but they all fail.
I just tried this tutorial but it failed, at least here is the info box for what i just tried

tonight's update:
I wish i could find a post like THIS that has files for this phone, I have No idea how many flashes it may have on a flash counter but i am thinking about going to a t-mo store tell them i was updating the battery died and now this is all i have. If they ask anything about updating ill just state the owner knew nothing about the update (or i will prep her to go in herself she will easily play dumb as she really knows no idea about flash counter etc she will be like what is that and be serious so i hope that works if no one can help me here. IDK what is wrong with it i have yet to see a post about this to fix it let alone be so difficult. It defaults into a sort of download mode but everything fails i formatted the SD card too (this phone is wierd, to me as it uses both phone and SD card memory as one and if only i could just switch the sd card as this is something wrong with the phone partitions or something IDK im no dev. Anyway that's my update for tonight 9/18
[Off Topic] i need to b**** like a little girl this has been so crappy i am still hoping my thumb is healing right (I've never chopped the pit of my finger off, also i hope people online don't know their measurements because all of them seam EXTREMELY small like 1x2 mm is that really chopping it off? i lost like an 1/8th of my nail with it its more like 1x2 cm large (maybe they believe the other side of a ruler is mm not mm and cm? hoping again. its too late now but i probably should have gone to the dr but all they would have done is a more painful cleaning and re bandage it, probably correctly lol Thanks if you read my little girl moment)
Since you got Odin loaded up. Try this. It's the gremlin remover.

I tried That Gremlin remover before my previous post although i don't have the information from it although i don't remember it telling me anything other than "FAIL!"
I have had no luck with any of these apps i think the only option i have is multiple file flashing with Odin although it seams i have some Partition error so i may need to find a way to fix that (if possible).
I wish more people were here as i know several people on xda could probably help me fix it but they have probably moved on to other projects and maybe lost the files.
Right now Champ without your help IDK what to do i am basically trying things i can find and anything you can so its a little like 2 minds at least working on this phone although i know a lot less.
Now i just don't know what to do at all

Still having trouble This looks like the answer but i have yet to get the program to recognize the device windows seams to (it makes the noise when you connect a device) although it does not show up on "my Computer"
I am going to be trying every USB port I have on my machine both front ans back both USB 2.0 and USB SS 3.0
I really hope this is the panacea I need right now.
Have you tried heimdall (the one clicks) & Odin. Drivers for Odin and heimdall clash.
I would search for lumin30's guide and follow it after installing drivers. Let the one click reinstall & flash twice.

Every Odin file i try always fails i cant seam to find an Odin file that would do what the hawk file does because i cant get the hack file to recognize a device but Odin and Heimdall do but fail. So all i can think of is possibly if i can find Odin files that do what the hawk file does. As most of the one click programs AFAIK are similar to Odin but more like an Odin batch file to do All that is needed, Being that Odin recognizes the device maybe it will work although it might fail no matter what possibly the reason why the hawk file finds no device.
Right now I am contemplating having the owner (she is disabled and in her fifty's) go to the local t-mobile store and play DUMB. Basically the battery died or something because the screen was black when i cam back to it (after attempting an OTA update claiming she never did it when it first came and was told to do it no although not really knowing how to do it she tries) the screen is black and she notices the phone is off or frozen so she tries to turn the phone back on (maybe turning it off then on She doesn't know) then she tried to get some kies thing online but it didn't do anything (not knowing even how to use kies or install the correct version if asked)
THE ONLY AND MOST GLARING PROBLEM I CAN THINK OF WITH THIS IS
I have no idea if it is dead enough to not show a flash counter or if it is checked as it will have at least one. (maybe she could say she tried to install something she found online that said it would fix it?)
Is their anything i can do at this point to make the above plan work besides just trying and hoping they will give her a break?
Maybe someone knows the process for this and if it works how much money am i looking at and if it doesn't i suppose ill be looking for an affordable t-Mobile or unlocked phone that's pretty basic as all i want is a phone at least similar but nothing on GB i don't want to root her phone she doesn't need it she does need at least ICS as ICS supports most things JB users like I use. So yeah I guess suggestions for another phone too if it comes to that I hope someone knows the process for this and that they don't automatically check if the phone was modified before they do anything?
If it's a SGH-T959V, then there's no flash counter and there's never been an OTA update, though there were some versions that used Kies to get it from Froyo or early GB to 2.3.6. If it's a SGH-T959W, then there's a flash counter, there's never been an OTA update, and any firmware modifications are a dead giveaway that the warranty is voided.
Regarding wanting another phone... there's always a ton of 'free' phones being offered. Especially if you aren't leaving stock, it's easy to get something since then you don't really care about the community, just where the phone starts.
