Lost root access?

Guys
I don't get this at all, can anyone please help out?
I have a Nexus One. Have been running Cyanogen since purchase, upgraded to 5.0.6-N1 few weeks ago. Obviously, root access and all that. Just a few days ago, I backed up the device with nandroid and flashed it with a Enoc theme. That also went well, but I suddenly noticed apparent lack of root access. Apps that require it wouldn't work (like QuickBoot, MarketEnabler). So I wiped the device and flashed with a clean 5.0.6-N1 and restored the backup prior to theme update, but now I cant get the root access back no matter which backup I restore (even older ones).
Any clues on what might have caused it? I cant think of any indications that the theme update might have anything to do with it, but that is pretty much only update I've done to the phone.

what recovery image do you have?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I don't have any recovery image.
I just tried booting in recovery mode, wiping the phone and then flashing with the Cyanogen 5.0.6. That should get me a fresh install on which I then apply a nandroid restore of the OS prior to the theme update I mentioned above.
Besides, I see that applying the recovery image via terminal starts with 'su' command. That one gives me 'permission denied' after my problem occured. Its almost as if my phone wasn't rooted at all, which it definetly is.

I have searched a bit and can't find what I am looking for. I have a rooted tbolt and not new to rooting but not familiar with the d2global(my son's phone). So I rooted via the 4z method and everything went smooth. Downloaded cw bootstrap and loaded liquid gingerbread 2.5. I am very upset as I forgot to make a backup prior. Anyway I did a factory reset, cache wipe, etc.. and loaded the rom. Now there is no service and I am stuck in aiplane mode. I am hoping there is a simple fix. Any help is appreciated.

Nevermind, figured it out Loaded CM7, must have been something within the liquid rom.

there is no liquid rom for the d2g, if you try installing a rom for the d2 (which i assume liquid is for) your radio wont work, which is why its always in airplane mode.
cm7, on the other hand, is made for the d2g.

i did the same thing, and now i'm stuck, i tried to do a recovery and somehow it won't let me i tried holding the power and volume down to try to do a manual recovery, cause i did a backup so i can restore, unfortunately i can't get to that recovery...if i knew liquid 2.5 was bad i shouldn't have installed that POS...any help will be good, thanks

Your baseband is FUBAR, so you need to reflash an SBF.
Instructions here.
Finding the images and RSDLite with Google should be easy enough; if not (and only in that case), PM me.
JFYI: there is no way to get to CWM if you cannot boot the OS to at least a bootloop after the point where adb shell becomes available.

Thanks, i will def give it a try...i can get to bootloader by holding power button and both volume button...i just didn't know what to do from there...
The problem i'm having is :
phone does boot up running liquid 2.5, problem no service stuck in airplane mode
all function of the phone works just can't make calls etc without service
i do see the backup files when i open file manager, just can't get it to open up, hopefully that bootloader thing works,
if rom manager was working that would help solv e everything cause i would be able to restore, but the app is not there when loaded liquid, usually when you ask to rebbot it would give you an option to reboot or recover...oh well

by the way what is CWM, what does that mean

CWM is ClockworkMod Recovery, the “custom” recovery that lets you perform backup and restore of your phone's flash memory and install various custom ROMs and modifications. See http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery for a bit more information on it.

Question where would i find the images and what rev RSDLite do i use 4.9 or 5.0, sorry, just asking...

Google the file names, should net you some results.
4.9 or 5.0, doesn't really matter. 5.0 is reported to work better than 4.9 on Windows 7 systems.

[Q] GB Upgrade Headaches, a Saga

I am novice when it comes to flashing, rooting, SBFing, etc. I spent endless hours trying to figure out how to get my rooted VZ Froyo to GB. Finally I found a great download that allowed me to boot from a CD on my computer and flash the SBF back to my phone. It worked great I didn't even have to wipe the cache. The phone updated and GB was running. I got it rooted and thought all was going well. Now the only reason I root is to run wireless tether, here is where things went awry.
I find out that it is a big hassle to get tethering to work on GB, thanks Google. So i decide to try and revert back to Froyo. I use the same CD method that worked before, but this time it gets stuck in boot loop. Now I have to wipe the cache and lose all my settings and apps. Finally I get it all back together, minus many apps, I will have to remember them as I go along and re install them. All is all a serious pain in my ass, but a good learning experience.
Now, I wanted to ask a question about Bootstrapper backups. After the SBF and wipe, I rooted again and added Bootstrapper. Then I noticed that some of my backups where still there, (presumable on the SD card). So I tried to load on but it didn't work and the phone got stuck on the Moto icon boot. At this point I thought I had bricked it, but was able to do the CD SBF thing again and just start from scratch. Would there be anyway I could restore one of my backups successfully.

Use Advanced recovery and only restore /data.

Can you tell me what application you used for installing GB? Mine won't update and I don't care that much about tethering.

There's no “application” like that. There's OTA update that can be installed either automatically or via the stock Recovery. You must have your /system FS intact, however. z4root is OK, Droid 2 Bootstrap Recovery isn't. Removing CWM was discussed multiple times, google for “logwrapper.bin” or something like that.

#1 a backup from gb won't work with froyo & vice versa.
#2 tethering is NOT a problem on gb. (After rooting) Just use "open garden" free in market.
#3 I think I know which cd program you are using, it does not install the official ota but a rooted leak (I could be wrong)
There are guides on how to sbf (reset to factory out of box).

[Q] D2G saved from Brick now boots into Recovery every reboot

Hey,
So I was a victim of not enough reading and doing to much at one.
I had a rooted stock GB ROM on my D2G and through easy enough, BootStrap, CWM via Rom Manager and flash CM 7.1. All should be good.
WRONG
I got hung up at the red M logo and try various things to revert to stock b/c there was no way I was getting into the CWM recovery console again.
After failing at every corner a random and 10,000th battery pull I ended up in CWM.
Since the one thing I did right was a nandroid backup I was restored it and the phone booted. I then shut down, dropped in SIM (rogers) and booted back up.
Now everytime I reboot it takes me to CWM. Forcing me to hit reboot system now otherwise it sits in recovery.
Any way to have it not boot into recovery? Just boot normal?

First, if you are on Rogers in Canada - do not bother trying CM7 - doesn't work properly on GSM. Stock firmware will be much more useful.
Second - There are two CM7's (if you are determined to try it) - one is Froyo base (the one found on CyanogenMod site) and the other one is GB base. It seems you flashed the Froyo based one on top of Gingerbread thus you ended up stuck on red M logo. To fix the problem - you have to either try flashing GB base CM7 from CWM or (better) SBF and start over. Again - if you want Froyo based CM - use the 2.4.29/2.4.33 SBF. If you want to try the Gingerbread based one (check rootzwiki for more info), flash the GB SBF that was recently made available or flash 2.4.29/330 and OTA to 4.5.608. Root, CWM and so and so. But pick your CM7 package carefully!
But if you are not on CDMA - you better don't waste your time with CM7.

I have some how lost the Accounts and Sync Option.
If I do a factory reset (from phone settings not recovery mode)will I loose root and will I loose the Gingerbread OTA update that was done on the phone before I got it?
Or do you know how to recover something like Accounts and Sync?
I am going to be sticking with the Stock ROM

Have you disabled any system apps? This could be a reason for broken accounts.
As far as factory reset, either from phone menu or from recovery, will not remove root or any other changes you might have made in /system. It simply deletes /data partition.

Thanks I discovered that I had deleted the "Setup.apk" without backing up.
Retrieved that app from another member and all is well.

Did I brick my One S?

Hey guys, so I'm worried I might have bricked my One S, or at least messed it up beyond what I can personally repair.
Basically what happened was that I was trying to install the Auto brightness patch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638559) onto my One S, because I wasn't happy with the batterly life. Stupidly, I tried to install it without checking accurately for matching RUU version numbers. I thought the Virtuous Ville v1.40 ROM I was running had a 1.78 base, but it has a 1.70 one. Still, I figured that in case anything went wrong, I would just make a nandroid backup and restore. Unfortunately this did not work out so well.
My phone got stuck in a boot loop, so I reset it. When I tried to restore my Nandroid backup, I got an error saying "can't mount /sdcard" or something of the sort. Other Nandroid backups had always worked.
I think before entering recovery, I selected "factory reset" on the HBOOT menu instead of "recovery" by accident. It still loaded into the recovery though, so I wasn't sure what I had actually done. If I did press the wrong thing don't know if that somehow messed up the recovery's access to the SD card.
So now I don't know what to do. I don't mind having to reinstall everything and losing my data, I just want my phone to work. Everytime I try to turn it on it gets stuck in a boot loop, and there doesn't seem to be any way I can access my storage for either nandroid nor installing any roms.
Any help would be immensely appreciated.

For anyone that's curious, all I had to do to fix my problem was simply reflash CWM recovery(interim touch). Not sure what went wrong, but I think that was that fixed it. Unfortunately I lost all my data and customizations(not sure ifbecause of the factory reset in HBOOT or because I also accidentally clicked on "clear storage" >_>) but since i just got the phone a few days ago and have been installing ROMs very frequently, it's no biggie.
Can a mod close this?

You shouldn't be using the interim release of the touch recovery anymore.
There is an official release now: Official Touch Recovery
And yes, you lost everything because you did a factory reset... it's all in the name you know... 'factory reset' - does it ring any bells?

I'm having the same problem here. I've tried to fastboot flash alternate recoveries and keep getting the sdcard error. I was trying to install cm9 and now phone won't boot and no sdcard!
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated........
