Does anyone have a skyrocket on Tmobile??

Ive been helping my buddy with his SGS2 skyrocket on T mobile service .. I was looking for some tips on apn and data speeds .. So im guessing they should get the same speed as a t mobile SGS2 sitting next to it or id like to think so .. but doing a test with 2 buddies phone on the same service with a t mobile sgs2 and the sgs2 i727 . the speed is different by a bit the i727 was getting 5 to 7 megs a sec and the tmo sgs2 was at like 14 megs a sec ??? So The sgs 2 says its getting at&t 4G witch I know is bull .. im running the isc leak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569798 ) but the speed is about the same on the GB ROM when we first unlocked it ...and ive got the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572198 radios in it ....so i get edge when im at my house but my buddy on his 3g at&t iPhone gets it right next to me .. also when im on 4 G im not really getting 4 g speeds ....I think i must be missing some setting apn is wrong or something .. ive tried searching the subject but i get over whelmed not knowing much about radios.. Ive been thinking about going to t mobile also and getting a t mobile sgs2 or the i727 because of the lte radio .. so if anyone can enlighten me on something im missing ...thanks a lot

Have a kind of the same issue I haven't tried my t mobile sim on i c s yet gonna try now...I think if you flash a t 989 radio t mobile kernel and t mobile rom I cant see what else is left for it not think it is a t mobile phone..... As long as you can switch network providers and bands
Keep me posted if you come up with a solution I'll do the same....

will do ive been busy it has a tmo radio on it .. its my friends phone ...ill see if hes available tomorrow and ill give it a whirl ,, how did it go for you??

Any T-Mobile (t989) rom with telus radio (kj3) and Skyrocket kernel (faux 010m, dag 0.43pre2) has been a known working combo.

I am on Juggernaut 5.0, Faux123 Skyrocket Kernal, and UVKL1 radio. Everything works...but I keep on getting back and forth with 3g and 4g. And its not fast speeds either. Im pretty bummed that I cant get this Skyrocket working on Tmobile at 100%. This phone rocks!

do any of you guys have issues with wifi hotspot feature? Mine keeps erroring out.

I was wondering that myself

Really?...ive got black circles around both eyes from reading threads night after night....retarted?...sorry..i dont have wifi st my house...blow threw data pac like whut?...so when something works for me i posted it sorry..i pour concrete for a living and development interest me in a way were maybe i could make a living someday if i figure this **** out before i cmy body totally gives out....ok..im not smart like ya'll...but for christ sake ...give a guy a chance and grow up....happy easter.....

your all good i just wasn't sure if u were messing with us .. I went through the same thing for days on my buddies phone to get the data right .... witch i never really did he s been out of town so I haven been able to try again .. thanks for ur input

I see nothing wrong with this statement. Tethering will easily blow past 5 gb of data.

Just to clarify, are you using an ATT sim card on the T-Mobile network?
I tried installing the T-Mobile VK1 and Kid radios on my ATT Skyrocket, clearing regular and delvik cache. It just doesn't give data service. When clicking on Mobile Networks under settings, it says Insert SIM card.
Running Sky-ICS RC7.4 Stock. The baseband says T898UVKID right now, which is as I would expect since my last attempt was the Kid radio. I tried posting this in the radio thread in the development section, but I don't have enough posts.
Just for additional info, I am an ATT subscriber, and when I flash back to UCLA radio, all is fine. Maybe I don't understand the purpose of flashing a t989 radio. My reception sucks, and I wanted to pull off the T-Mobile tower instead of att, is this wrong method or am I just being ignorant? Voice worked fine with the vk1 and Kid radio's, just no data?? BTW, I have to use wap.cingular for my apn, so I was thinking that maybe part of it.

if you guys are running gb still have you tried the ril unlocked rogers radio before flashing to tmobile

T-Mobile: No Service

Something happened to my phone last night where it now won't connect to any registered network. Simply says "searching".
I've tried a handful of new roms following all the guides to the tee. U M M U for my mounts. Wipe everything, cache / data / dalvik. The phone itself works fine it just cant connect to a network. I'm not sure if the phone itself just broke or what.
I've also tried some different modem kernels etc but nothing is helping.
Is my phone physically broken or is there a way to get it to work. I've also tried stock rom and what not and I can't fix it.
Someone help me please!

Did you pay the bill check the imei number make sure its not all 0s

If you can, call T-Mobile and make sure there are no network outages in your area

Is the phone showing any networks when you go to network operators? Even if TMOB has an outage you should see other carriers there. If your not seeing any then your modem might have crapped out.

How do I check the imei? I'm semi-noob. I just know the basics.

Theres nothing coming up. Just saying "Searching" This happened about 40 miles away, drove home, still nothing. I don't think its a TMO problem. Also, my roommate has TMO and his phone works fine.

If you flashed back to stock and it still says that your modem went belly up. When did you get the phone?

Flashing the modem should fix your issue. Also, stock kj6 even with different modems is pretty unstable. My dad is on stock but his phone signal and 4g often craps out while me on cm9 is more stable.

Just contact the customer service office from other phone and tell them about this problem. only they can solve your problem and they will give you exact solution for this problem.

This happened to me a few days ago. Phone would drop signal like crazy. I flashed modem after modem nothing. Reverted to stock GB but nothing. After two days of one bar or no reception it came backmagically. Just giving an FYI cuz for me it had to be Tmo doing something.

This also happened to my phone last Thursday! Was your phone unlocked? Mine was reverted to a simlock state and had to b re-unlocked, wierd as it is apparently it does happen with these phones,though the tech I spoke to thinks the providers have something to do with it

I'm running the skyrocket on tmobile's faux-g network. It took about a month and a half to settle on the config, as noted in my sig. Hope this helps a bit.

ergh i hope this works, i been trying so many things, so many radios.. learned we are cross compatible with the I727 (naturally), I727R, T989, T989D, and even the T879 radios >.> .. yet the only time I ever got ANY data (even EDGE which is all we get here) is on a Gingerbread ROM.. ugh. Glad I haven't canceled AT&T yet..
edit: big fat nope for data still *sigh*

I chose this radio because T989 users were saying they got better signal on this than even on Blaze radios. Or something like that. I'd link it but I spent like 7 hours fighting with it, way past my normal bed time, so I hardly remember anything. Here is a screenshot of my phone running the radio to prove it isn't a brick-maker. I also do not know if this supports 3G/4G, because as you can see my tower is EDGE :/

I'm gonna test it here in Vegas as soon it's done charging and nandroid backup. Hopefully, you get 3g/faux-g soon.
Yep can confirm that this radio works with faux-g here in Vegas. It's a little slow right now in the part of town where I'm living but workable. To the OP, radios are important for the type of ROM you want to be using. For example, a GB ROM depends on a GB radio and the same goes for ICS/JB ROMS.

I'd be content with reliable 2G. According to mapping apps there is a whole 1 tower here, 2G, and barely usable. Many times it will show 1 bar and still say 'Emergency Calls Only' >.>
I flashed a T989 ROM to enable Wifi Calling, but I need a new SIM card from T-Mobile (a 'GBA SIM'). It took a while with a bunch of phone tag across T-Mo departments, but I think I finally have a 'GBA SIM' coming at the cost of $0.99. Will report.

Zefie im using the same rom and radio and kernel as you are and i cannot get to connect to hspa+ sincei only get 1mb of speed or less.
and internet its always slow

Perhaps I may help a bit. Is it showing 4g in the status bar? Also, are you in a 4g area?

My phone reports that the mobile network type is "EDGE:2". I've assumed that this means I am not in a 3G area. The T-Mo coverage map shows the majority of my area as 2G. There is one small light green spot (assumingly 3g?) over my house, but I think this is just an error on the map. Therefore I am unable to properly test for 3G/4G connectivity.
I've also asked T-Mo if there was any plans to upgrade our tower to 3G, and unlike AT&T who would quickly counter with "but we have 3G in your area!", T-Mo sent me to some activist page to start a local rally to convince local officials to upgrade coverage. I guess this is their way of admitting it is, in fact, a 2g tower.
I've also changed my radio back to T989. I'm not sure if it was a radio issue or what but it seems after a few hours the phone would lose service completely. I'm still testing stuff.

What is the average signal strength that you usually get? Also , if I read correctly, you are now using the stock t989 radio on the skyrocket? Which would mean GB?

this radio (UVLH1, 4.0.4 ICS latest T989 radio) is also doing the same thing as the note radio. After a while (3-5 hours) the status bar will show service (2-3 bars, even fluctuate) but the system is "Searching" and calls and txts are missed. Need a stable radio...
edit 2: I guess technically I could just ust the original AT&T radio since I only get 2G here anyway, and T-Mobile is re-farming so 3G will eventually work on 1900mhz., the 1700/2100 is going to LTE like it should, thus our skyrockets on AT&T radio should technically be able to get T-Mobile 4G LTE when its available
edit 3: rogers (I727TR) radio probably better than AT&T for the sake of rat unlocked
edit 4: removed edit 1, just gonna use I727R UCLD2

OK. Sorry that the radios didn't really work out. I do encounter some network disconnects here but not a total dealbreaker. I guess we'll have to wait for T-Mobile. On a sidenote, I am finding I have better coverage with this radio.

I do like T-Mobile but I will watch from StraightTalk (AT&T Sim) and try again when they grow some more here. I need mobile data to work. I wouldn't mind 30kB/s but I only accomplished that once. Heck I'd even take 5kB/s if it didn't take over 2 minutes to establish one connection. I can't even use MMS most the time because it seems to require 4+ (-90) bars of service before EDGE will even establish a connection.
Edit: Got my 'GBA SIM' today for Wifi Calling. Works great on this ROM combo. I just wish I had mobile internet. I may do some tests as I am secretly hoping this GBA SIM has 3G/4G and maybe my old SIM was a 2G sim.
For archival reference in case I go back to AT&T ROMs, and my sig changes, Wifi calling for T-Mobile works on our Skyrockets using Faux123 ICS T989 Kernel for I727 MOD v001 and SGH-T989 UVLE1 Infamous Resurrection ROM

Zefie thank you for moding faux kernel as i use the rom on your signature and the kernel and Telus modded radio for t898d nd im getting awssome hspa+ speeds today i gotted 10mb download and 2mb up.

Buy a Samsung Galaxy Nexus from the Google Playstore for only 349.00. Its unlocked and works with both ATT and TMobile 4G.
That's what I did for my wife and using a Flashed Skyrocket on T-Moile 4G has been flaky at best.

T-Mobile files for skyrocket

I know there will be complaining why didn't I search, but I honestly have. Looking for the modem/s that will give me 3g on the skyrocket. This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507825 is the only thing I've found, but the site wants me to sign in but I don't have an account. I've searched Google, the T-Mobile forum and found nothing. I also tried adding the fast apn, but get no signal at all with that one. Anyone have the combination of modem and apn for me? Not in an area that's got even 4g thru att. Closest 4g is 30 miles away. Mod, if posted in the wrong forum, forgive me and please smack my hand and move it.

Thanks so much guys. Was looking so much for the modems in that thread only, that I missed the recommendations of the blaze modem. Thanx again..

Ok got 3g (shows the 4g icon in the panel) with the fast apn. Able to send and receive mms, BUT when its on the 3g, I have no cell service, meaning no calls or texts come or go. Going back to the default apn, got service back but only E and can't send or receive mms. I've noticed alot of people with this problem, but everyone just tells them make sure to use the fast apn. I'm at a loss where to go from here. Any ideas?

I think you'll have to manually add a T-Mobile APN..

We don't have no T-Mobile where I'm from so I haven't looked into this myself but I hope it helps you, if not there are lots of other Skyrocket T-Mobile threads on xda where you should be able to find something out.

T-Mobile does not offer the Skyrocket. Skyrocket is AT&T's version of the device. T-Mobiles version of the phone is called Titanium. Model # SGH-T989... I'm not sure if XDA has a section in the forum for it but I would definitely search for that specific device if that's what you have.

Well guys, I officially give up. I have tried numerous modems and no luck whatsoever. Tried changing apns to what others have reported success with, no luck. 4g shows temporarily with blaze, but it has no internet, mms or calling available. Once the 4g turns to edge, there is still no internet, but calls work. Texts go thru, but no mms. I am frustrated beyond belief. Guess he gets a wifi only data enabled phone that makes calls and SMS messages only.

Actually no it's not. It was CODENAMED Hercules while in development but was released as Titanium. True story, look into it.
Not to mention, even if it was, why would you be in the SGH-i727 forum looking for files???

Because I'm trying to get T-Mobile 3g in my i727 but need the modem that others have said gives them the 3g on here, which are mostly tmobile. Also, if its called titanium, then everyone in this forum and tmobiles forum look like idiots because they call it HERCULES.

I'm in the same boat. I have tried everything I can find on these forums and can only get 2G. The phone will briefly connect to HSPA and LTE, but will not get data and cannot make phone calls. I just wish I knew how others are connecting to Tmobile with their phones. Wish I had just bought another hercules since it works perfectly. It doesn't get LTE, but usually I'm at 10-12 MBPS on HSPA.

I have a feeling that many of the success stories are in or near refarmed areas. Me, I'm 30+ miles from even H speeds on att or T-Mobile. And I'm not in what I consider a rural area with over 300000 people living in the 2 immediate towns to me, close to Edwards Air Force Base.

That was one I did try and it gave me nothing, no 3g, no edge, no cell signal at all. Told me to insert sim. Thanx tho.

Cannot get LTE on my AT&T LG G2 only 4G

I'm running 4.4.2 on my LG G2 for AT&T
My wife just got the same phone and her phone shows 4G/LTE Mine shows only 4G
I checked our APN settings for both and they're the same
I checked through the 4636 code through the phone and it shows only the HSPA letters where hers shows up once again with LTE
ANY advice would be great

Try turning data off then on again, it will force it to search for the network.

i tried that one...and i tried the 4646 code and theres no option to change the NETWORK type...this friggin sux...no LTE on this phone and only "4G"...been tryng to figure this one out..
any advice much appreciated.

Maybe replace it?
If this is a new phone that you haven't tampered with, I suggest that you exchange it. New phones don't need any change in settings to connect to LTE out of the box.
Maybe it's a hardware problem. Did this problem just appear out of nowhere? (maybe after the update)?

Like the poster above if its stock return it otherwise reflash to stock to confirm the issue is still there, here's another thread dealing with the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702386

you might be 'ROAMING'
this happens to me. i think theres no att tower near me, i think they use someone elses lte tower, but half of the android phones ive used need roaming enabled to connect to lte in my area. try that it might work.. its in the normal settings app under networks enable all roaming. never had any extra charges. att covers the nation and doesnt count local roaming.
BUT i agree with this guy if my suggestion doesnt work
