[Q] inspire 4g complete rom list + identification problem - HTC Inspire 4G

iv always had this issue, whenever i flash a rom that is compatible with dhd n inspire 4g,it always chooses the dhd files even though i own an i4g.this happened on EVERY rom...even though i properly follow all instructions n wipe n facory reset n everything.if someone could tell me how i could fix this...please it would b awesome
and can anyone please tell me all the sense 3.5 roms available for inspire 4g

Most of our roms are built off of the Desire hd. That's why we get sound issues, h icon, 4 signal bar.... Etc. I guess if our bothers you that much you can go into your build.prop and put in Inspire 4G instead of Desire HE. Other wise,.just ignore it.

The inspire 4g is the desire HD for 99% of it. There are a few differences but not many. If the rom you are flashing is flashing the wrong files then it is the rom reading your device wrong most likely from the rom before hand marking it as a desire. A few build prop edits will fix what your device is seen as. A search will show you how and where to make the edits.
I think I answered the question on the 3.5 roms in the other thread.
The GPS well what can be said about it. On some devices it blows and on some it works.

I no longer get sound issues as long as I download roms only from inspire 4g dev thread. All those that are still being supported have the sound fix which is really the only thing broken from a desire to inspire Rom. GPS should work unless it is a known bug, which I'm sure all have been rectified by now as well. Just make sure your ril and radio match.

The Rcmix Runny is an HD rom that'll detect and apply the Inspire specific fixes during the install. Most of the others have mods that'll tweek for the inspire as well. But +1 on what Gizmoe said - stick to the ones from the Inspire devs - most of 'em have Inspire and like to see the same (H+, 5 bar etc) as you do.

so i downloaded the rcmix runny 2.0 its not in the inspire 4g thread, its in the dhd only n it installed dhd files saying my phone was an inspire 4g.i opened the ZIP n found the inspire 4g files n i tried to copy n replace the dhd files...sometimes it works but mostly winzip on my windows 7 m xp fcs and even windows explorer force closes on most zipped rom files when i try to add a file.can u guys please suggest a good zip editor program that wont fc?i fixed this issue by pasting the inspire 4g files over dhd files in virtuous unity...but thats like 1/10 chance otherwise winzip fcs =( any good zip edotir program mayb something the devs themselves use?
winrar, winzip 15,10 and windows 7 explorer all failed but finally after hours of searching i found a mediocre software that does the job, 7zip =D

Flash the official Desire HD gingerbread rom on our Inspire 4G?

At&t hasnt even announced their plans to update the Inspire 4G and i was thinking, since the Desire HD is pretty much the exact same phone, can i flash the Desire HD official gingerbread rom? im asuming ill lose the 3g/4g capabilities but that can be solved by flashing the AT&t radio after i flash the update, right?

Radio firmware doesn't have to do with 2G/3G loss on the Inspire/DHD, it is the software in the the ROM (RIL combined with APN). If the ROM doesn't have the correct settings it will not have a data connection at all... Also, flashing a pure DHD ROM will cause major sound issues on your Inspire. I would just recommend using one of the 2.3 ROM's in the dev section, most of them are based on the official 2.3 release anyway.
You shouldn't have any problems, as long as you match your radio with the RIL and apply the dhd to inspire patch somewhere on these boards.

I've flashed Desire Rom's without any problems just use LeeDroid DHD to Inspire Patch to apply turboliniums tinny audio fix.

The thing is there's no stock 2.3.3 on these forums :/ , so the trouble is the ril, ive had no problems reactivaating the apn in the past

Use the steps in my method in development after flashing, it basically resets your radio to AT&T specs on any Sense-based ROM's. RIL, Radio, APN, telephony.db. All there.
Edit: make sure to to a rooted stock ROM, NOT THE RUU!!
Re-Edit - Use this one. It is pretty darned stock.
im getting more confused , the gingerbread roms on the inspire 4g development forums are based on the desire hd roms but already have the ril and the at&t raido and apn? or are jsut the desire hd roms and we have to flash the ril and the radio after we flash the rom?
And the screwed sound you mention is no sound AT ALL or the tiny audio?
Chad-
Slow down. Do some reading. Don't jump into it too fast and you will be fine. Read-Read-Read.
Chad, this as close to stock GB Sense as you can get. All you have to do is flash the rom nothing else. And your phone will actually think its an Inspire 4g not a Desire hd.

[Q] Inspire 4G/Desire HD kernel compatibilty

I just came from the HD2 so I'm still kinda new to the Inspire. With the HD2, each kernel was built from scratch specifically for the HD2 so there was never any question that a kernel from a different ROM would work. I know the Inspire and DHD are basically the same phone specification wise except for different audio drivers for the inspire, so my question is: Can I take any AOSP kernel for the DHD to flash directly to my Inspire running MIUI?
Yes I'm using lordmod on miui now
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Thanks!! And I'm assuming I can do the same thing with ROM's also right?

Just try and see... Be sure to backup first.
I've had issues with some kernels not working quite right. The latest lordmod kernel i could not get to act right with Gingerbeast on my phone.
It's a trial by error. Some ROM's too.

Yes Nick is absolutely right. play around and see. every rom I have ever used from the dhd section has worked fine for me some just require you to flash an audio fix thats all. but yes for the most part all the dhd stuff is compatible. Just remember dont use an aosp kernel on a sense rom and vice versa
Cool, thanks guys. And I already made that mistake with the kernels. I tried flashing Leedroid kernel to the MIUI ROM. Everything booted up fine, but wifi gave an error when I tried to enable it. I think ill stick with lordmod anyway, since it seems to be the best all around. Thanks for the help.

you need to keep Sense kernels and AOSP/CM/MIUI kernels separated.

[DEV][WIP]let's port htc explorer rom

Hi all HTC Aria Developers,
I've seen some screenshot of the new htc explorer rom and it is great
I've trying to port this rom to htc aria but sadly it does not boot.
Now, I am calling out all developers of HTC Aria to works together to port this rom
HTC Explorer RUU:
http://www.multiupload.com/QGQN6KUNRT
Rom Status:
DOES NOT BOOT (Bootloop)
Need to know how to fix the problem with the cyclic rebooting!
The problem 100% since boot.img even adb service will not start!
I have tried porting this rom from hero rom but it stuck at HTC screen
I wrote a post Hintay, as he overcame this problem!
Bootloop on logo HTC Quietly brilliant
Logcat: http://pastebin.com/5a012fcP
Looks like they're making progress on the hero.

never mind, i have some clues from the wildfire forum it might need to change the lib file and the BOOTCLASSPATH.
Thanks, Devs. Here is my post in the Q/A section. It's not getting much action over there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289128
bump
It would be so awesome if this rom got up and running. I really like the Liberty S rom but it seems it's a bit resource heavy at times so I end up having major freezes.
Thank you devs =]
What is the status quo for this ROM?

Ok, if you flash a rom then there's no need to have the file in the sdcard...it is already in your phone memory..It's like asking if you have to keep the office 2010 CD after installing it in your PC. Not at all.
Tweaks? what kinda of tweaks are u looking for? custom roms usually contain tweaks and in my opinion the Coredroid tweaks are the best u can find in a Sense Rom..
CM based roms or AOSP roms have also many tweaks...it just depends on what u like. Nobodoy can tell u what to choose. There's no best or better rom,...you have to decide for yourself. Try then all and make your selection...:good:
Well first I say this research trust me it will help but to some it up no you don't.
But I say this once you flash a Rom do I backup just in case and you can delete it off the SD card
And another tweak if the Rom has any then it will be posted but go through the threads and see but what kind of things are u looking for but before you answer all Rom are different. For everyone
Hhaha other member beat me to it lol

[APP]Sense 4.1 Camera from the One X [08.13.12 Screenshots]

As you probably all heard the rumors about Sense 4.5 and the camera that worked its way through XDA was not completely functional.
HTC announced the One X International android 4.0.4 Sense 4.1 update rolled out. So I googled the Camera and found a flashable zip in the One X forums.
Credits for mod/zip:
ALL CREDIT GOES TO HIM, IM NOT THE ORIGINAL POSTER, JUST RE-POSTING WHAT IVE FOUND.
Disclaimer:
I'm not responsible for what you choose to do with your already rooted device, etc.
The zip won't flash. It will abort installation so just follow the steps below to install:
Screenshots:
Installation Instructions:
1. Download zip HERE (DropBox link)
2. Extract zip contents to SD Card.
3. Backup your original files individually or do a nandroid backup of your system partition.
4. Use Root Explorer (or other type app) to copy all files in zip to proper locations (as shown below
Zip contents:
--- system/app Camera.apk
--- system/etc media_profiles.xml
--- system/lib libhtccamera.so
--- system/lib libOlaEngineNew.so
5. Set all permissions to look like rw-r--r-- (ie. Like every other system file)
6. Change Owner (root explorer option press n hold and scroll to bottom) to root (0) and root (0).
7. Click on camera app once in system app directory and perms and owner are set and actually install the app.
After Install (thing to know, bugs, etc):
- All settings from previous Camera app will be there
- Video recording will work from HD and down. Camera app will close if you try the Full HD setting for video recording.
- Slow Motion video will cause the camera app to close also. Most likely kernel related.
- FFC works fine for me on picture and video...as well as a 0.3 VGA can work. Functionality seems fine.
- Touch Focus reported not working on ViperS ROM.
- Touch to take photo works great for me (on IC Evolution 2.20) and focus is clear for me as well.
Enjoy. I like it, so other may as well.

do we have to delete the original camera.apk
does it work on aosp roms?
1. Yes it is compatible with the Sensation on a Sense 4 ROM only. I'm running InsertCoin Evolution 2.20 Final. Works fine.
2. The Camera.apk will overwrite the original. Follow the steps posted to either backup the files individually or use nandroids advanced backup feature to backup the system partition.
3. Idk about AOSP. Its a Sense camera so I guess if the AOSP ROM is based off a Sense 4 base then go ahead and try it and report back.
Like I said, working great for me on Sense 4.0.

this camera mod is NOT designed for CM10, it has broken your system probably because a sense camera mod will only work on a sense rom or a sense based rom. You will probably have to reinstall your rom, its advisable to make a nandroid backup of your rom just in case things go wrong so you can revert back

Just as a heads up, this won't work on AOSP. I have the hybrid rom (PACman) on my MT4GS, and it could not install. At first, I thought I did the install wrong, but turns out it's because it's not based on a sense rom. Long story short, this won't work on most other roms except those based around the HTC Sense.
Such a shame, if one thing HTC got right, it was the camera app.
Would be nice if anyone could port the camera app and make it flashable, but gotta make do with what there is.

Sense apps require sense framework so a port would be pretty much impossible... No sense only apps will work on AOSP.
