I am currently using a pair of skullcandy/rocnation aviators and they have an inline control module with a mic and three buttons, the center button works fine, pause play, answer end and such, and the mic works fine, however the volume buttons do not work nor are the commands even recognized by the system from what i can tell, is there any way to make this happen on android, im running 2.3.3 btdubbs
ha, disregard the extra Q up there
Search for Headset Button Controller in the market; there is also a trial version (I recommend this to see if it works obviously) No guarantees but I know it allows you to change button assignments; It works on Samsung headphones I believe.

The Infuse only supports one inline button by default. I don't know if there's a way to get the other buttons working with a mod, but the volume buttons are only made to work on iDevices.

andriod doesn't support additional buttons. there are apps that let you use the center button with gestures. (multi press or long press) to do a number of things. sorry not the answer you want to hear but even the developers of these apps say its a framework limitation. could an experienced developer change this in a Rom? well I wouldnt say its impossible but I wouldnt be too optimistic about seeing this any time soon.

I own a pair of Apple in ear inline headphones which I bought for about 80$. I don't plan to spend more money than this for any other headphones so I want to know if anyone can verify the compatibility with these headphones and the HTC Sensation. I am thinking of either getting this phone, the T-Mobile SGSII (depending on the performance of the new processor), or the Amaze 4G/ HTC Ruby. I was leaning to the HTC Sensation before because I know it comes with some inline headphones, but at the same time I know the quality of those headphones aren't as good as the ones I'm currently using. I don't know where I heard this (and correct me if I'm wrong) but I think I remember someone said that Samsung and Apple use similar stereo input so the headphones might be compatible with the SGSII. If someone could also verify this, it would be very helpful. Lastly depending on the compatibility of the headphones and if the rumors are true of the Amaze 4G/HTC Ruby using the same camera as the MyTouch 4G Slide, then I would probably lean to this over the Sensation.
Anyways I just need verification on the compatibility of these headphones with the Sensation and the GSII so I can decide on a phone to purchase next month because I'm about 6 months overdue for an upgrade.
I have tested stock Apple earbuds from the iPhone 4 (so they have the play/pause, volume+, and volume- buttons).
The only one that works is the play/pause, which works flawlessly. Fine recognition of single, double, and triple clicks.
Neither of the volume buttons work, however. I used an app called Headset Button Controller (Market link) for its "Debug Mode" that detects button clicks. Unfortunately, the Sensation doesn't even recognize any input from the volume+ or volume- buttons.
Hope this helps!

Thank you very much. I will definitely take this into consideration. I just have a few extra questions though. Does the microphone work and can the double and triple click be used for skipping tracks and FF/RW through songs(by holding double or triple click)? That's the only real thing I need to know now. I will try to get by with the volume keys.

if it doesn't work, use this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton&feature=more_from_developer
I've bought these earphones for my HTC Desire:
V-MODA RRMT-E-NERO Remix Remote - Black (Inline Volume Control)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/V-MODA-RRMT-NERO-Remix-Remote/dp/B0037KLP72
As soon as they arrived I realised they're designed for Apple products only, so they would work but the controls wouldn't.
Pursuaded by a Head-Fi forum member I opened them, only to confirm what I was afraid of: The only thing working is Play/Pause.
You see, the earphones have 3 buttons: Vol-up, Vol-down and a multi-function button. The multi-function button is meant to work in the following way:
- 1 press: Play/Pause (worked on my Desire)
- 2 presses: Next song
- 3 presses: Previous song
On my HTC Desire though, when I press twice it goes to the previous song! And three times would just go to the previous song and then pause...
I was also suggested to buy this cable adapter that supposedly should fix the controls of these earphones for non-Apple products, but turned out to be absuolute rubbish:
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk...hones_on_different_brands_of_phone.13276.html
Does anyone have any idea how I can make my earphones' controls work with my HTC Desire?
Thanks,
Liran
Either Headset Droid or Headset Controller will probably (hopefully ) help you out.
Search for them in the market, I believe both have a free trial so you can check if it works before laying your money on the line ^_^
I personally use Headset Droid, haven't tried the other though. I had (cable broke on me, typical) a single button headset, and it allows me to assign actions for multiple button clicks or multiple button clicks ending in a long click to that one button. For you it'll allow you to assign the same multiple functions to all your buttons.
I've found that clicking interpretation is off and on though, so keep that in mind as you compare apps. I need a new headset first before I can use it again, so currently can't test anything

Thanks for your help, but none of those apps work.
I've tried Headset Button Controller, Headset Droid and Remote Control for Earphones, and non of them even register the clicks!
Any other ideas anyone?

Is there any way like new ROM/patch/application to make 3 button android earphones to work on our device?
Actually i have earphones from galaxy note but they are not working on our device and only center button (call end button) is recognized.
Need any solution that can make all 3 buttons on the earphone work on our device.
Hi ! There is Songbird that works with the remote buttons (Call/end button) to control music but I was not able to try it with other earphones. Give it a try .
Songbird does not work
Thanks for reply but Songbird only responds to call end button while other 2 buttons are still non-responsive. I have even tried headset button controller from the market and it is also not recognizing volume buttons on the earphones.

the AOKP group are trying to patch this bug,..
Until then... we have got no hope
Morning everyone,
I've asked something like this before, but never got an answer seeing as, at the time, this device was a fledgling in the custom ROM world. Now that we've got so many different flavors and features, I'll post my query again.
With the CM10 ROM, we can now use our volume rocker as music control when the screen is off. That was a key selling point to me, seeing as its easier for me to just press my pocket than to pull the phone (with Otterbox Defender) and change the track on-screen. One thing that I dislike about it, however, is the broken wi-fi hotspot and tethering, along with a few other things that aren't functioning. I've scoured the interweb trying to find out what files I would need to pull and how to compile them into an existing non-CM ROM so that I could have the full functionality of the ROM with the added bonus of the Volume Rocker Controls.
Would someone be able to point me in the right direction so I could hop on this? I'd think that the community would like a little .zip package to make this function with all ROMs, if it's even doable.
Thanks for reading.
i had tried my hand at this before, but couldnt find a way to remap volume keys to change tracks.. yet.. but what i did was remapped my volume keys to wake the screen when its locked... and let my camera hard key to skip tracks.. its quite handy when u want to just skip to the next track..
it involves compiling and decompiling the android.policy.jar, so if youre interested i can help you out..
also before all this, theres one app which worked fine on my A2, Tactile Player, it can skip songs both ways and also play/pause the songs via the power key.
it works fine, but theres always this icon in the status bar when the app is on.. you can double press the volume keys, up key for next and down key for previous.. its definitely worth trying.. you can find the app in Playstore, i was using the free version..
Edit: The paid version lets you get rid of the status bar notification and also adds a widget to the homescreen to toggle the app on/off.
I bought a Bluetooth controller https://www.amazon.ca/images/I/51rPNr9NjcL._AC_SL1000_.jpg to use on my bicycle so I don't need to unlock the phone and mess with the screen to skip songs, and it works fine when using a regular headset in the 3.5mm port. But when I use my Dragonfly USB DAC all that works is volume up/down and the play/pause button. The previous track button acts like volume up, and the next track buttons acts like volume down.
It works fine on my Galaxy S8. And this is not an issue with a certain app because I tested it on many music apps. It seems to be the phone itself.
Can anyone think of why it would be doing this, or any way to remedy the issue? Or is this just an unfixable bug?

Your is a rare specific use which i don't think xiaomi did ever test their phone in this condition, the only way to get it fixed is trying to report using their channels (feedback app, mi community etc..), or you can try switching to custom roms to see if it works fine there
