I have been able to deploy xap file up until today.
Nothing changed except for me installing Tango on my Samsung Focus the other day which I uninstalled because it didn't work well.
Today I tried to install another xap and it's telling me to connect my phone.
I have zune running and it sees my phone and it has synced without any issues.
I did the same on a HD7 and it worked fine.
The Samsung Focus has mango 7720.68 with chevron and interop unlocked.
What I've done, reinstall wp7 sdk 7.1 and zune 4.8.
Any help is appreciated.

Nope, had that exact same issue about a month ago. The only thing I could do was a factory reset.
Did that remove the chevron unlock, if so, can you still unlock if you had provxml or will need to go back to pre-nodo and unlock?

Silly question, your phone is not under lock screen when you try to deploy?
Another silly question, can you open other applications which were sideloaded?
In case yes for both questions, try a newer version of xap deployer, like the one that comes with the new Windows Phone 7 Market Place. Also, try this tool http://wptools.codeplex.com/, does it work?
In case no for the second question, you lost your unlock somewhere.
Restoring an old ROM is just a workaround the issue, but if you don't wanna try then I guess restore away!

If i do factory reset the phone, will it also remove the provxml that was loaded to the file system, or will it keep the unlock in the diagnostic tool so that i can run it to unlock?

Try rebooting your computer a few times and use a different USB port. Sometimes my computer would lose communication and not deploy to my phone until I rebooted it if you send many xaps that use COM interop to it. Weird quirk.
maybe you have again to register your PC with the ChevronWP7.reg (for PC registry)

Yes that makes sense also due to the fact that you need Interop unlock in order to run COM Interop.
I've done this, also used another computer on which I used to deploy xap, same thing on that.
Used different USB cables as well.

I had mango without the interop unlock and was able to sideload apps.
I have applied the chevron and interop unlock using diagnostic menu on Samsung Focus multiple times, however, it did not work.

Soooo you have tried HeathCliff thread on how to INTEROP-UNLOCK Samsung phones?
The phone did have the interop unlock, i've even applied the wifi tethering, so i know it was interop unlocked.
Nothing worked so I just loaded 7004 and went from beginning.

Yesterday I unlocked my phone with Chevron. I thought I applied the setting in Samsung tools to prevent relocking but apparently not. Today it's locked again and no matter what I try, I can not get it to re-unlock. I followed all the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918710 several times with no success. Are there any other things to try?

Did you install a update or just sync to Zune? Not sure what you have done that caused you to lock back?

Just synced with Zune. This happened yesterday. Then today, I got my pre-nodo and nodo from AT&T. Tried it again, post nodo, and still no luck unlocking.
Well if you have NODO now you wont unlock again, but if you go back to restore point to previous version then you should be able to unlock again and then add edit to registry to prevent locking, then do the update.
Ah crap. I didn't realize I couldn't unlock with nodo. So how do I roll back?

Check zune device / update. If there is no "restore" button, so probably zune deleted the rollback files (they are very big > 5 gb)
Ok. I rolled it back but still have the same issue. I'm wondering if this could have caused a problem. My home copmuter was the main zune partnership with my phone. I wanted to unlock it while I was at work so I changed my work zune from "guest" to main. I then unlocked succesfully. I added some apps and everything worked. When I got home, I installed developer tools on my home computer but could not get xap's to install there. I think it was because it was no considered a guest. Not understanding this, I opened Chevron and clicked re-lock. It changed to "lock" so I tried to re-unlock it and have had issues ever since. Even back at work, where zune Sync Relationship is main, still no luck.

OK, well when you did the update i am sure you also had to update zune before you updated phone, right? Maybe on the computer that you didnt use, work or home, use the other computer but unistall zune and try to install the older version of zune, then try to unlock. The zune update maybe preventer for chevron to read correctly. Now this might not work but i think it should.
I tried everything I could think of. The only thing that worked was a hard reset. I am now unlocked. I went into "Samsung Tools," and selected "Prevent Device Relocking." I have sync'd with my comp several times and it appears to be working. It has not relocked. Is it now save for me to proceed with the NODO update once again? I don't want it to relock and have to hard reset again so I want to be sure.

Mine was unlock before nodo updated to nodo and everything still worked fine, so maybe you'll be ok.

I received my replacement phone from ATT (Samsung Focus) and proceeded to do the chevronwp7 unlocking thing I did with my original device, everything was working fine until I noticed this update where Zune mentioned something about 3rd party certificate issues...
I like an idiot updated anyway, now my phone is locked again. When I tried to use the Samsung Registry app it says (license was revoked by microsoft).
I tried to do the factory reset, but the firmware remains the same version, I tried to use the backup Zune made, but the same thing happened when trying to use Samsung Registry app.
Also the Chevron WP7 program I'm using won't unlock the device again.
Please help?
Do you have a backup in Zune? Phone, Settings, Update.
If you don't then indeed, you have a problem.

Unfortunately, the security update blocks unsigned certificates from running on the phone, like the one needed for chevron wp7. You'll just have to wait until a method for unlocking from NoDo is discovered.
My friend stumbled on a samsung focus windows phone 7. It had the nodo update 7390, ive tried to use chevron unlock to install some of the xap's that helps prevent it from relocking it when updating it, but the chevron unlock wont work at all i keep getting the error that says i have to make sure my device is connected and zune software installed but i do have everything set up correctly and still i get that error Can some one please help me? Am I missing something? i know i have done it before but now it just doesnt want to work anymore. Thanks in advance
I am facing the same issue, I had my Samsung Focus chevron + interop unlocked and upgraded to Mango. All was well, I decided to upgrade memory, hence I installed a 16 GB micro SD card. For installing it I had to reset the phone. Now to have it unlocked again, I tried restoring to my previous restore point 7008 version, which didnt work, probably because of the change in the memory size, I restored to 7008 by removing the micro SD card but now I could not manage to get unlocked again, I suppose Chevron labs certificate has either expired or they have disabled the feature to unlock using the chevron tool.
Please provide me an alternate method to developer unlock my samsung focus or a method to install micro SD without resetting.
@ZeroBreak: it's quite well documented online than ChevronWP7 Unlock doesn't work on NoDo. You need to be on build 7004 or 7008. It wasn't supposed to work at all, and was "fixed" in 7389 and later builds.
@amyth1884: Changing the storage always requires a hard reset, and as you noticed, you can't restore a backup from a different storage size.
For both of you: There are other ways to get dev-unlock. Marketplace developer account is the official way ($99 unless you're a student). A semi-official Chevron WP7 Labs has been "coming soon" for a while, $9. Anybody who has an official account can also unlock multiple phones, so if you've got a friend with an account but not using all his or her unlock slots, that may work.

my phone is already chevron lab unlocked and i just INTEROP UNLOCKED it too but when i try to deploy any app i get error that phone nedds to be unlocked or run zune but my phone is unlocked and zune is also running.
can anyone tell me how to deploy xap files to my phone ?
i used tom deployer and application deployment. application deployment gives me 0x81030120. i tred deleting that one line from file but it still does not work. i am trying to install touchxplorer and registry editor.
any help ?

i still get 0x81030120 error if i use application deployment tool and if i use tom deployer it says my phone s not unlocked or i need to run zune but zune is running and i just paida 9 bucks to unlock my phone plus i just interop unlocked it also so i don't know why can't i install apps on my phone.

Ps.after uninstall one you should restarted the first round, then install one

somebody told me in a different thread that it's because i have the latest update of wp7 which is not interop unlocked yet so the interop unlocked i tried didn't really unlock my phone but my phone is chevron lab unlocked. so i have to wait till the interop unlock comes out for this update.
the person who told me this had the same problem.
Had this problem ALLLLL DAY and drove me crazy!!!!!!

Dude your device is not interop unlocked (it hasn't worked yet)...That error clearly indicates that your device is not interop unlocked. Try to install other app which doesn't require interop unlock and tell us what error do you get now?
Probably, you wont get any error.

yup that's what i have figured out that the interop unlock didn't work so i just have to install an interop unlocked rom till interop unlock comes out for mango's latest update.
Use DFT's HTC custom roms.
dont know if this will work for you but when i had that problem i used a different rom,,,,,,that worked

i'm very new to WP7 unlocks, but today i tried Jaxbot's windowbreak on my Omnia 7 with 8107.79 OS. well, i hadnt looked up everything avout that and just followed the instructions of the video on windowsphonehacker.com. then i put the root tools 0.9 XAP to my phone using microsoft's application deployment. later i saw in the forums that windowbreak doesnt work on 8107.79 devices cause of the KK2 update. So, now my qustion: is it alright and have i got an unlocked omnia 7 because it worked with the XAP or what do i have to do?

There's a lot of misinformation about unlocks on the forums. The pertinent facts are:
1. If you were able to install and run WP7 Root Tools without modiying the XAP file first, then WindowBreak worked for you. You're ready to go.
2. Windowbreak doesn't care at all about your OS version; it cares about your firmware version. For a Samung gen2 phone, I believe KK4 and below will work.
3. Sometimes, a firmware update is included with an OS update. Some Samsung gen1 phones got KK2 (which blocked Windowbreak) with their 8107 update.

so, that means my phone is now developerunlocked? But when i tried to deploy a custom theme with that application from windowsphonehacker.com i instantly got an error. Also, if i try to 'save XAP' and deploy with Microsofts application deployment tool an error occurs.
Well, i found my mistake: i synced with zune and my phone got relocked. so, i just repeated the windowbreak progress and it seams to work fine now. but is there a way to keep zune from relocking? i just found some ways for htc devices, but none for samsung.
WindowBreak should include the "prevent relock" registry configuration, which removes the server that Microsoft uses to check and modify your phone's lock status from the phone's registry. I'm not sure why your phone would have relocked so quickly after WindowBreak, but you can try sideloading, marking Trusted, and running the "prevent relock" app that is intended for use with the Tango upgrade (which also resets the relock check URLs; you didn't install Tango did you?)
well, tango means the 8773 update?
8773 or later, yes. It's known to reset the "prevent relock" change, so your phone will relock itself shortly after installing Tango unless you get a bit tricky with it. 8107 has no impact on lock/unlock status, though.
