Root and s-off on sensation - HTC Sensation

Hi all, I am trying to install s-off and root my sensation so i can install the sensation xe rom, but when I put the beta key in it tells me that It's invalid.
I have entered the correct serial and choose the correct HBOOT and I have also tried typing and pasting the beta key and still no joy.
I have successfully molded playsyaions wiis and xboxes in the past so I am not a complete noob on these operations
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi,
The only thing I can think is you did not put in the correct key.
When the key is made, copy it to notepad.
When it comes to putting the key in the command prompt, right click the top edge of it.
You can then edit and paste.
That way you are sure to copy correctly.
Good luck.

I copied the key from the webite to the clipboard and pasted it directly into the .exe and I will not accept it

+1 for copy and paste, capitalization is important.

Are you SURE you put the Serial number into the Revolution's web form, and not maybe the IMEI number or something else? There have been reports of people entering their IMEI number by accident; the site will give you a seemingly valid beta key, but it won't work with your phone.

Yes was defiantly the seal number as it is shorter and contains letters
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

This is how I did it:
1. Go to the Revolutionary page
2. Select Windows, etc, etc.
3. Download the package it gives you - do NOT use an older package as the beta keys change
4. Extract the package and run it
5. Connect your phone, making sure you have 'USB Debugging' enabled
6. Revo will show your serial number - copy this to the clipboard
7. Paste it into the relevant field on the Revo website
8. Copy the beta key from the website to your clipboard
9. Paste it into Revo
10. Wait for it to finish (you may have to do this 3 times should you get the 'Communication lost' message)

@EddyOS thanks I will try it this way when i get home. Never thought to try copying the serial from revo to the website.

I have just tried to root, using the method above that EddyOS gave me, while it was succsesful, the root process was not. This is what happened:
I am not allowed to post links yet so you will have to add teh http or can someone else repost for me please.

I really want the Sensation XE rom for the beats audio and true speed of the CPU so any hwlp would be appreciated.

I agree with everyone else on this. The key is case sensitive K is not the same as k
I had the same problem when I first tried to enter the key.

I have successfully entered the correct details. If you look at the picture I linked, add http:// before the link you can see that it starts the process but will not complete.

i dont know if this will help you or not but can you check what the bootloader on your phone says. if it says revolutionary in pink letters and if it says s-off and also check to see what hboot you have on now. the only reason i say this is because i got the fail to communicate error on my phone but when i checked the bootloader screen it says i have s-off, the correct hboot, and revolutionary at the top. i have no idea how are why it happened to me but i can tell you i can still root my phone and flash different roms. just have a look. if it still says s-on than i have no clue. sowy

There is stated somewhere to disable HTC Sync and Droid Explorer also if you want to use revolutionary
hope this will help you

I am having issues with this revolutionary method as well. i download the zip, extract it, download the fastboot, get the key code, run the extracted program, and the window says waiting for device. so i ran it again with mounting my sensation before running and same thing. It hasnt yet given me a chance to enter the key code. im only assuming i have to enter it cause it is not taking the code it pops up with when you enter your information. I Just bought a PC so I can to root my phones better without waiting for a MAC version of every thing. If anyone knows the step I am missing, please let me know. I would love to experiment with COREdroid but i have to get S-OFF first.

The Quickest way in solving this issue is just to install the HTC Drivers. With that, follow the Guide on the Dev section and it should be okay.
For future reference of Linux users who may find this thread, don't forget to run revolutionary, fastboot, or adb as a root user.
That'll usually solve all that plagues you with problems like "waiting for device" and such.
"sudo ./revolutionary"

I'd be surprised if anyone will upload a backup for you. Nandroid takes a complete image of the device and as such is likely to contain all sorts of personal data.
I read your thread hand will try to help. Am i right to think that so far you have:
s-off?
SuperCID?
3.30 firmware?
Non-booting from but access to bootloader and fastboot?
Can you also reach recovery, and what is your hboot version as of now?

It sounds like you've either got the incorrect firmware, or ROM, or it could be just incorrect check sums.
To save on re-writing everything that's been done thousands of times before, I'm going to provide this link to Android Revolution HD.
It describes how to do everything step by step. If you want to start from a clean base, just boot in to recovery, and wipe everything, switch it to USB mode, load your files on, and start flashing from scratch.
Remember, to make a nandroid every time you flash something new if you're unsure about anything. It's time consuming, but saves you a lot of time in the long run. I found out the hard way.
If you have any more problems, feel free to PM me, and I'll reply usually pretty quickly.

Agreed. SuperCID and s-off means you can run any ruu. If it doesn't run, something is stopping it:
Try the stock European ruu. Remove other software from PC that might sync with phone (HTC sync, double twist etc.) Check AV/firewall is not blocking ruu. Run ruu as administrator on your machine.

Hello all.
I got a HTC Sensation yesterday cheap from my cousin's classmate, because he screwed it up and can't get it working. I have a bit of experience flashing different phones so I thought I might get it working. Unfortunately I haven't found a solution to the problem after hours of searching, hopefully one of the community has the kindness and know-how to help me out!
Basically as soon as I plug it in, the screen in the 1st pic appears:
I've tried several PG58IMG files but all of them result in a screen similar to the 2nd image:
Any ideas on how to fix? Any help is much appreciated.
Seems a partitioning issue.
Did you try to run an RUU? maybe it can help. Not 100% sure though

Do you have and tools? If so, do this open command window where your and tools are by holding mouse over the folder, now press alt, space bar, and right click, choose open command window here. Now type the command "fastboot getvar cid" while phone is connected to pc in fastboot mode. What does it say?
You have to have the correct ruu for your cid.
Can you access recovery?

Thanks again for your assistance.
I've just finished installing the android tools, and ran the command as you specified. My CID is 11111111.
When I select recovery from the fastboot menu, nothing happens, it just blinks for a second and goes back to fastboot.
Okay, good your super cid so any ruu should work, now that you have the adb tools you also have the fastboot drivers. Try running the ruu again. Before running the ruu, remove the battery and sd card and insert the card into a card reader on your pc and look for a file PG58IMG and delete it. Then safely remove the card, put it back into your phone and replace the battery, put phone into fastboot mode, plug it into your pc and try to run the ruu as administrator again.
You're welcome for the help. If this doesn't work we will try a few other things. The phone isn't bricked so we should be able to get it working.

If you used the HTC Dev method to unlock your device, then it is not going to say S-off as it does not fully unlock your device. The below quote is straight from GPS HTC Dev site.
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.

This I understand. But it seems that no matter what I tried, supper or revolution etc, still no luck. So I am stuck with a clockworks mod and no radio and no s-off.

Did you untick fast boot?
You may be using the wrong method to soff. Try Juopuntbear, This is for bootloader version 1.27.*** and above. Read carefully and understand before you jump in to it!
When you make a post like this you need to give more information such as boot version. Make and model of your phone, etc.
