Contacts has stopped unexpectedly - HTC Sensation

I have standard sensation (no root) and when I go to contacts app (sense 3.0) I get a message saying "contact has stopped unexpectedly". Anyone know how to fix and what's going on?
I really don't want to do a factory reset.
Thanks.

Without root your best bet is factory reset. I know it sucks but without root you cannot fix permissions, clear davilk, or clear caches, only way I know to fix crashes.

Have you installed the new version of Google+ app (extracted from Android 4)? I've encountered exactly the same problem before, but it has been solved by uninstalling it.

what you could try doing is go to settings>applications>manage>clear contact data? That MIGHT work.. I had issues similar to this before and clearing the data helps and since you're not rooted, this MAY be the only way.. unless the member's solution above works

Yes, the same thing happened for me.

[Q] Allow non-market Installation no ICS

I just installed ARHD ICS on my phone and I'm trying to install an app from the internet. On Gingerbread you allowed the installation of non-market apps by going to the apps section. I can't find it anywhere on ICS. Anybody know how to enable this?
Settings > Security > check Unknown sourrces
That is not an option for me.

Got any email accounts on Exchange or enabled 'Device Admin' with any apps like WaveSecure?
No exchange email addresses and no device admin enabled for any apps that I know of...
Never mind I found it. It's an app called "prey". It is a backup app that tracks/disables phone in case it gets stolen. I uninstalled it and that solved it. Thanks for the help.
I solved the problem by doing factory reset. You may need to do it several times for the option to appear under security tab.
Hi, got the same problem on sensation XE with stock ICS RUU.
I started from a 2.3.4 sw, then soff, changed cid and install ICS from ruu.
At first boot option was not showing.
I performed a hard reset from boot and the option came out in the menu.
I was able to uncheck, then option disappeared again...
Others with the same issue?

SMS not working... Did I uninstall something I shouldn't have?

I don't know when this really happened, but it was a few days ago.
[Btw, I have not installed the update, and am rooted.]
Whenever I am on wifi using data (which seems to work pretty well ironically), my SMS ability completely breaks. When I try to send, I get an Ashley that says something like "message not sent, will send as soon as service becomes available"
Again, this only happens on wifi....below is a SC of logcat. You can see the errors apart on the bottom half of the screen

Can anyone guess what happened? I don't think I deleted anything I wasn't supposed to...typically removing bloatware which others had already signed off on as safe.
I really do not want to factory reset or even flash my newly rooted nandroid backup from 3 weeks ago.... So any guesses are encouraged...

Make sure you have ipservice, ipprovider, and ims service installed as well as the stock messaging app.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Yeah I double checked those things. They are there. And the result messaging app as well. But dammit this is something to do with the OS. I uninstalled GoSms, and had no luck with the default app.
When I reboot, it works fine for about 10 minutes, then crashes again... Don't know what it could be.
Maybe I need a better log viewer.

On that note... Does anyone have a log viewer they recommend? I think aLogcat was lacking... Now I am using Log Viewer (the one with the pig head icon). It's better by far, but I figured I would check to see what others used.
Any suggestions?

Issue installing PlayStore App's.

Having some trouble getting app's to install at the PlayStore all of a sudden:/ I've tried clearing PlayStore Data and Cache and and clearing data from Google Services Framework but still nothing. I still have over 8 gigs left on internal memory. Not sure why I'm having this issue. Any insight would be much appreciated. There was another thread about this and attempted to locate the troubled apps file under Data/app's as instructed by a fellow member from that post but unfortunately I can't find those certain app files to delete. I'm able to download some app's but not others.

Looks like I'll be doing a factory reset in hopes to get this resolved. What a pain.

Update: Factory Reset resolved it. It also kept my root which was nice.

You won't loose root unless you flash an OTA, or stock root through ODIN... What you got will stay....
As you have root you could also have done a nandroid backup. This allows you, after factory reset, to re-install under advanced option all your Apps(data). This may or may not be of help if there's a problem in the data but it is something to look at later... It's also good to get nandroid backup, after everythings tested working, so instead of a facvtory reset you can just restore most of your setup how you like it. I try to do a backup at least once a week... and keep the previous backup in case of problems...

[Q] How to stop play store from updating?

Last year I do remember that someone posted a method by removing some file which prevented google to updating play store (it was called Market then)
I prefer the old black theme much better how can I retain it? I restored it from my backup but google updates it all over again n again. There must be a way to stop this update, please tell me how?
Found a way from a note I had stored earlier when I did this last year.
From the system folder I deleted MarketUpdater.apk after taking the backup & then reinstalled the older version. It now wont update.
You need to have root permissions before you can do it.
Hope it helps others.
I would like to know what was the last dark theme version before the new lighter version came out, as of now I have installed 3.10.14 is this the latest?
THe main reason I reverted to older version was that I wanted a dark theme but now I found a play store mod here

It offers the latest version with black dark theme so you get best of the both.
I hope it helps others.

HELP! Google Play Services drained 2GB in less than a day!

Google Play Services is killing my data plan. I did some research on the forums and I am assuming this is because I just installed CM and my nexus is trying to download the new 4.4.3 update. What should I do to make it stop? I Read that for some people checking the restrict background data box works but it doesnt for others. Also read about an app called DisableServices but also came across mixed results.
Can anybody help me?

I though this was fixed in their latest builds? Which build are you on?
I thought so too. But apparently is trying to download. I was on 4.4.2 and then installed cyanogenmod 11

Install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Go to System apps, google services and then disable "SystemUpdateService". This should fix it afaik,
Seems like the issue where the phone keeps downloading 4.4.3 over and over.
