[Q] Nexus I9020XXKF1 root - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
I'm a newbie, I would like to know if anyone succeeded by rooting a Nexus s I9020XXKF1 2.3.6 (original non rooted ROM).
and what is the difference between I9020 and I9020A, can we root it the same way?
Thanks,
Martinos

Read the stickies in the development forum or use the search feature. Also, this phone will always be able to be rooted as its a developers phone. Good luck.

[SOLVED] Rooting Nexus S I9020A

Hello,
I've been searching this forum for rooting guides and i came up with this one and it looks pretty straightforward to me but i have messed up samsung phones in the past so i thought i'd post here just to get some advice. I have quite a lot of experience in unlocking and s-off htc phonesand i'm told samsung phones are way easier.
So please correct me if i'm wrong: basically i just need to have the samsung drivers and adb/fastboot to unlock the phone, then flash cwm recovery and flash any rom i want?
I'm currently on Gingerbread 2.3.6
Baseband I9020AUCKF1
Build GRK39F
Kernel 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef
P.S. If anyone could recommend a stable 4.2 rom that would be fantastic

I seriously need help with this

Okay, so my Android 4.3 AT&T Galaxy S4 is rooted (through Kingo) and the only reason I did it in the first place was to flash CyanogenMod or some stock Android variant. Now I'm being told I can't install a custom recovery on my phone for two reasons. 1) AT&T locked the bootloader 2) I'm running Android 4.3.
Now, I'm considering unrooting my phone but even that's unclear and confusing, and it's hard to find people on these forums who are willing to help with these relatively simple (to the non-newbs, of course) things.
Can I flash a custom recovery? Can I run CyanogenMod or any good ROM? If no, will I be able to, ever? If no, how do I unroot? Would it be wise to just wait for the next update from Samsung or AT&T and install it so I automatically unroot?
Much appreciated.
