Hi!
I recently acquired a B60 serial, TF101 that has the android version 3.1 ; with build number HMJ37.US_epad-8.4.4.11-20110711
The system is prompting for an update , I believe it is for the 3.2 upgrade, which I didn't do yet.
I am very much interested in getting custom firm ware installed.
I had an opportunity to read the forum, and just needed directions in the right way:
1. Should I upgrade to the V8.6.5.9 (Android 3.2) from the ASUS website or the OVA that the system is prompting me to do so? I am just concerned with the following statement from ASUS website: ※Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version .... I believe this means, I can't downgrade after?
2. I can use the Universal Rooting Tool that is discussed on this forum, but I believe in that case I need to do #1 above, is that correct? or Can I do it with the stock firmware that I have?
3. the custom firmware I am interested in is the Android Revolution ; it says it requires: Clockworkmod Recovery - using the #2 mentioned above, will it be installed automatically?
Thanks.
P.S. Let me know anything else that I have missed.

Hi!
I have Xoom Wi-Fi MZ604.
Android Version: 3.2
I have a question about installing other stock image:
My Xoom is MZ604.
i can install other version of the image?
I mean,that my MZ604 is Build H.6.2-24.
can i install Build HWI69 ? this version is for US.
And what will be the difference?
someone?
I'm pretty sure that i have seen guide to do this, but i don't remember where.
if you look at the product details at http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/
it would appear that you would be able to flash another stock image from a different region - as you have the same hardware a product number
i would assume that if you have tried to install an mz602(for example) it wouldnt be compatible as hardware differs.
Ok, thanks .
that's what i meant: to install othe version of that stock image(HWI69 )
I've had the asus tf300 for about half a year now and I think its time to customize it. Ive looked at forum post on unlocking the bootloader and rooting but they them a little outdated. Can anyone at least point me to relevant forum posts addressing my questions for the
Asus tf300
Running android 4.2.1
Build JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.8-20130225
1. Does the asus bootloader tool work for my tablet? I am asking because it says : Only suitable for Andriod4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich & Jelly Bean OS version.
2. Does unlocking the bootloader also root my tablet
3. What are some popular stable custom roms?
4. Are there any stable releases of linux for the tf300? Preferably dual boot, but if not running linux in place of android is better
5. Where can I find information regarding recovery and security tools to protect my tablet while its root it and prevent it from getting bricked?
6. Please add any extra information you think a noob might need to read before and after unlocking/rooting
1. Yes if you download the official asus apk you can unlock your bootloader.
2. No...unlock is unlock and root is root two separate things
3. LOTS depending on version
Use the search tool for all other questions but in short atm you cannot do anything except unlock and MAYBE root as the new firmware has a different encryption prevent recovery to access certain important locations.
ubuntu
For my linux question. Has anyone tried flashing the ubuntu developer preview on their asus tf300. Its coming out for tablets

1. Yes. Asus just released v8 which works with the 4.2.1 version which you said you're running so I assume you recently updated.
2. No. Rooting is separate from unlocking. Unlocking allows you to flash files to the system and other partitions, like root files
3. Sorry I run stock unlocked and rooted, but see the Dev section for many opinions.
4. I've heard this and that but can't confirm sorry.
5. Find twrp in the Dev section. Since you're updated you must get v2.4.4.0 which is the latest.
6. I was a noob too. Just read carefully and don't screw with something if you don't have knowledge of what it's for good luck.

Hello folks,
Just bought the TF300T Tablet yesterday.
It came with Android 4.1.1 preinstalled
Kernel 3.1.10 from Nov 22 21:27:42
Build No: JR003C.WW_epad-10.4.2.18-20121122
I read through many threads about rooting but i have some questions remaining:
How do i find out if my bootloader is already the JB-one which can't stay locked to root the device?
I mean that i can't use nvflash.
At the beginning i want to stay at stock rom, only rooted for removing ads purposes
After what i have read i only have the following options:
a) Install the already offered update to 4.2.1 and use Asus Bootloader Unlock V8. (don't want to unlock)
b) Stay on 4.1.1 and Use Unlock V7 (don't want to unlock)
c) update to 4.2.1 wait if i can root without unlook bootloader sometime
So if anybody haven't an other option i choose to update and wait. am i correct?
Thanks :good:
Now there is no option to get your installed or newer versions to be rooted without unlocking the device.
All your options are correct.
Well your on 4.1.1 which is jellybean so you do have the jellybean bootloader and nvflash is not possible. The only way to root your tablet will require an unlock and custom recovery.

I'd suggest you to keep it stock for some time, so you would avoid some hw failures and warranty problems. I am happy enough with it, it's not perfect but ... nothing is
Proud owner of an ASUS TF300T stock and the "old faithful" SGS i9000 powered by AndroSlim
Since latest update it runs smooth enough
I chosed option a) and updated the tablet. After flashing Asus v8 apk i get struck with correct install of twrp recovery.
I don't see any files. I downloaded the official file from their homepage and read that there is a patched one in a thread.
gonna try this one this evening.
cleanROM is working on a very nice stock ROM with tweaks which is something you might want to consider if you decide to unlock
Hi all
A week ago a rooted my Samsung Galaxy S6 device following this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016
All was OK. At that point my device is using the Android Version: 5.0.2
The question I have is that now the version 5.1.1 (Lillipop) has been released, I would like to know if my rooted device can still be upgrading when the new version is released in my region (Mexico) by the phone provider. (Telcel). In case it cannot be updated automatically, I guess I will need to do it manually or unroot my device. In that scenario, Does someone know a good tutorial how to do that?
Regards!
@LesthadMK, sure you can update rooted devices. But it may not be possible via OTA update. You will have to download the full firmware and install it manually.
Because root makes changes to system partition, OTA fails when you have rooted. If you unroot and flash stock recovery and kernel back, then OTA may work. Otherwise, simply flash the full firmware, in .tar format using Odin software, and you're good.
It's good to have full firmware saved on PC anyway, as if in case you brick your device, you can fix it by installing your device's firmware manually.
If you need help with 5.1.1 firmware installation on your s6, let me know the build no. of your device.. I will guide you to page you need to look at.
Thanks for the help. I have download Odin in case I need to do it manually.
Also, mentioned that yesterday I read an article saying that using the Samsung software "Smart Switch" in an rooted device will upgrade the device to the newest version (which I don't know if it it's true or not) Any way this is the link I found:.... Well seems since I'm newby I cannot post some external links. So just google it as: How to Use Smart Switch to Update Your Galaxy S6—Even It's Rooted.
By other hand, this is the build number for my device: G920IDVU1AOE3, so if you can help me to know how to upgrade that version that would be very helpful
Regards!
Hello. Yesterday i installed latest OTA Android version (TB-J606L_S320030_210923_ROW) and noticed that it is really slow and it has even more bloatware that i don't want. I don't need to root it (because of bloatware removal) as i also need to revert it to default state as it was before update.
1. It is possible to find which version i had before this upgrade?
2. How could i downgrade system to previous version (i think it was Android 10 but i'm not sure)
PS: I successfully downgraded/rooted some devices but as every brand has it's specific way to perform downgrade, i'm asking here. Any advice would help and i'm aware of dangers of downgrading/rooting devices (bricking). In any case, it would be awesome to also link unbricking guide for TB-J606L, just in case It's always better to have plan B.
Update: I found source of roms for my device but i can't recognize which versions are old Android 10 and which are the new Android 11.
