I am planning to buy an Android phone but I want one with a QWERTY keyboard and one that fits my needs.
I have a few different uses for it.
Uses:
Gaming-A lot of games, need a bit of power (800Mhz-1Ghz).
School-Storing documents and editing them on the go.
Social Networking-Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace.
Music player-Playing my music.
Movies-Watching some movies maybe.
Notes-
It must have the 850 and 2100 UMTS 3G frequencies and GSM 850 2G.
Must be available unlocked online somewhere because I don't live in the USA.
My current options-
Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro
HTC Desire Z
Also must have or be able to get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) officially or unofficially.
Thanks, Jades

I need a phone to share 3G internet connection (in USA an Europe) with other devices over WLAN.
Which Android Phone supports UMTS in Europe and USA (850/1900/2100)?
I know Xperia X10 and Samsung S2 support at least 850/1900/2100.
Any other devices? Thanks!
Go to GSMArena.com and use their phone finder function. I found 52 android phones with your criteria.
Here ya go.
Thanks for letting me now.
Ok - I've been using my Xperia Neo for some time now and even though its rooted and has an unlocked bootloader and is overclocked its not keeping up with the pace --- so I went online and decided an Acro S was the best replacement and the only issue I had at the time was the size of the Acro S.
This problem has soon been belittled by the fact that there are listings out there which sell the Xperia HD SO-03D as an Acro S (LT23W)!!
eg
DOCOMO SONY SO-03D XPERIA acro HD aqua Unlocked 12MP FULL HD 1080P japan acro S
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321192483372?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#rpdId
Now since I've noticed this error of mine I've been scouring the internet trying to find answers......
If you have a SO-03D and have done any of the below can you please let me know here for both myself and anyone else interested in the future.
Answers wanted
1) differences between Acro S (LT23w) and Acro HD (SO-03D)?
2) Does it support USB OTG?
3) Can the boot loader be unlocked?
4) Can Root be acquired?
5) Will it run Jelly Bean?
6) Will Data and Cell network work in New Zealand?
7) and who really cares about T.V but while we're at it will the digital TV work in NZ?
This phone is currently being shipped to me and I'm preparing myself to send it back and purchase an LT23W if I cant prove that it will work the same as the LT23W
I've been through the manuals of both these phones and so far I can find the following differences.
1) SO-03D is 2 grams heavier than the LT23W
2) The LT23W might have 3 GB more memory than the SO-03d
3) Although its not very clear they both have the SAME water proof/resistant rating of IPX5 and IPX7
4) They both have shatter proof and scratch resistance glass - this is also hard to find but is in the manuals.
5) The SO-03D has an infrared sensor located between the ear speaker and the front facing camera
6) The LT23W has NFC - Near Field Communications - In the "white paper" manual is says that it does not work for payments but in the "User guide" it talks about Google Wallet and Operator Wallet and SIM card secure elements so I'm guessing payments are possible
Information regarding the memory
Copied from Manual
SO-03D
Memory
Internal phone storage 2 GB***

*** Some portion of that capacity may be utilized by pre-installed applications.

*** Some portion of that capacity may be utilized by pre-installed applications.

So the remaining questions which have yet to be answered are
2) Does it support USB OTG?
3) Can the boot loader be unlocked?
4) Can Root be acquired?
5) Will it run Jelly Bean?
6) Will Data and Cell network work in New Zealand?
7) and who really cares about T.V but while we're at it will the digital TV work in NZ?
*2) Does it support USB OTG? (Currently unanswered)
Its possible that USB OTG is not listed on the specs for the SO-03D because it was running Gingerbread and hopefully now its running ICS this feature should work - but I've not read anywhere that can prove this.
*3) Can the boot loader be unlocked? (I cant prove this yet)

One of the last sentences in this return letter in the thread says it all I think................
"Your kind understanding would be appreciated however SMCJ cannot provide you with the any update information about Jelly Bean (Android
OS 4.1) for this model (Xperia Acro HD) because of no plan to update currently.
For your reference, the specification of Xperia Acro HD, (the model forJapan market), is differ from Xperia Acro S, (the model for overseas market)."

*6) Will Data and Cell network work in New Zealand?
Just researching on the net and people seem to think it works fine. Then talked to a friend from Vodafone and he said GSM is 2G and mainly for voice 900/2100 and
HSPA+ is 3G and mainly for data butalso does voice. So according to the info below from the manuals both models of phone should work on the NZ networks.
IT26W
Networks
LT26w HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II) and 2100
(Band I)
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
SO-03D
Networks
SO-03D HSPA+ 800 (Band VI), 800 (Band XIX), 850 (Band V), 1700
(Band IX) and 2100 (Band I)
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
*7) and who really cares about T.V but while we're at it will the digital TV work in NZ?
P.S - I've requested to return the phone when it arrives and also a refund. The refund will be approved when the item is returned BUT I have to pay for the return of the item and if I track it (which I'm stupid not to) its going to cost almost as much as the phone!! ripped --- so please help me on these issues - thanks!!
