[Q] Trying to flash radio and getting Failed remote not allowed - HTC Sensation

I am having an issue upgrading my radio 10.56 to 10.58. I run the flash radio.img command and I get this error...
< waiting for device >
sending 'radio' (22189 KB)...
OKAY [ 4.123s]
writing 'radio'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 4.143s
rebooting...
finished. total time: 3.300s
I have been googling around and I am seeing that I need Eng S-Off for other models of HTC phones, but I do not know if mine is on or off because it does not show on the fastboot screen. I am running AR HD 4.1.2 and I am having issue with cell signal.
Can anyone help?

In hboot (bootloader mode) does it have the pink revolutionary in the top?
If you s-off with revolutionary, then flash an ruu, you keep s-off, but lose fastboot.
Try running revolutionary again (it will error out, but you will get revolutionary hboot flashed), then your fastboot commands should work again.

Hi,
You only need S-OFF to flash a radio.
Have you got the latest HYC Sync.
This will install the latest drivers you might be missing.

That fixed it! Thanks a million!!!

What am I doing wrong?
Ok, I have just read this post and updated my HTC Sync (I now have version 3.0.5579) and I am still getting the "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" error.
I have just flashed Android Revolution 4.1.6 and I was trying to install Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 over my current 10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3.
What am I doing wrong?
Cryo
Phone: HTC Sensation
Rom: Android Revolution HD™ 4.1.6
Recovery: 4 EXT
Kernel: 3.6.35.14-Sensation-faux123-0.2.3r+

I also had problems with it. I did the revolutionary procedure again, ensuring that the process completely finishes (make sure you kill any processes listening to USB ports, like AppleMobileDevices, etc.)
After installing revolutionary again I could flash the radio.img

Basically, the Revolutionary procedure doesn't work properly. It's meant to reboot the bootloader automatically 3 times to complete the process. For some reason, it's broken and after the first reboot you'll get a 'communication error'.
Your HBOOT will still show S-OFF but it won't be the Revolutionaty HBOOT which unlocks the fastboot commands needed to manually flash a new radio.
As said above, keep running Revolutionary until it tells you it's done and then you're good to go. The safer way to flash a radio is to download it from the radio thread as a PG58IMG.zip and flash it via HBOOT

Hi, i have the same problem with the Android Revolution HD™ 6.0.2 rom. There was manual install instructions, i used the adb to restart in bootloader, but when i type "fastboot flash radio radio.img" i get the same error remote not allowed. Unfortunately i cant install revolutionary again, because looks like my hboot is 1.23 which is not supported (in the site the hboot goes up to 1.18 i think). Any idea how to apply the radio? (Radio_11.65.3504.00U_11.19.3504.29_2.rar)?
edit: the easiest way for me was to download the latest 11.x radio from the radio thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143) then replace its radio.img file inside the PG58IMG.zip with my file that is supposed to be flashed directly via adb. Then i place this zip file inside the sd card, reboot in boot loader and all is done without any errors etc.

Im having trouble updating the radio to 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2, it says every time i flash "failed remote not allowed". Im using HBOOT 1.23 ARHD 6.0.3

The new HBOOT 1.03 is already S-ON. You can change it's state from LOCKED to UNLOCKED and back to RELOCKED using fastboot commands.
i not tested with this hboot 1.03, unlikely...
You cannot downgrade from HBOOT 1.03 to HBOOT 1.02 (or earlier).

No, but I know how to remove those.
High level, not for noobs, and certainly not step by step noobs will look for:
install cwm
update the mainver in the misc partition to 1.11.111.1 from cwm (dump/hex edit, reflash required)
back up the current ROM with cwm
relock the bootloader
make a goldcard
flash an aria RUU with a 1.02.1002 hboot.
run revolutionary
restore your gratia rom from cwm backups.
Please attach hboot 1.03 I will try to patch it for Gratia, thanks!

Hi there,
I have a HTC Aria with Hboot 0.57 and S-ON. I rooted this a while ago and I've been running the Liberated Aria ROMS 2.1 and 2.2.
I want to take S-OFF, but it seems like the only way available is for me to install the official ROM update from AT&T and then use Revolutionary to re-root it and take S-OFF.
Can I use this method for going to Hboot 1.02 and the AT&T official update? and then use revolutionary?
If not, what should I do? (also I have difficulties accessing a windows computer, I primarily use GNU/Linux. If there are instructions for it, that would be swell... I know revolutionary has a linux version, so all is good there).
Thanks
Andres

No, you should not use the method described in this thread. Unrevoked does not modify the HBOOT or give you S-OFF, so the instructions in this thread do not apply to you.
To update to HBOOT 1.02, the only thing you need to do is run the RUU to update your phone. Since the RUU is only available as a Windows executable, you can use this alternative method to install it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18541475&postcount=145 . This will erase all your settings from the device, so make a Nandroid backup first if you want to save them.
Once you have completed those steps, you can then use Revolutionary on your device. If you made a backup, you can restore it after Clockworkmod is reinstalled.
No, if fails with hboot 1.03. Is possible to revert to hboot 1.02? Any idea?

[Q] Cant flash radio anymore

I went from custom to stock rom and then back to custom rom again.
After this I cant flash radios anymore.. Still have my S-OFF and obviously CWM. Flashing the ROM went without any problems, but flashing a new radio.. No go..
Tried to use adb as well as P58IMG.zip files, no chance.. Any ideas?

Since your S-OFF I would try running the official RUU for your country/carrier, and then flashing radio via fastboot

You are soff but the bootloader is still locked. That's the issue you are having
So you can just flashed the jb_hboot.zip
From this site
http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
Get the pyramid ics one and flash it.. Using the instructions/commands given in the same site
Once flashed using those commands
Then come back to bootloader using
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then you can flash the radio
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves

[Q]Fastboot flash radio failed, any solution?

Hello!
I wanted to flash another radio.img onmya HTC Ones C2 (VilleC), and I got this error:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
sending 'radio' (22541 KB)...
OKAY [ 3.015s]

To explain, I have unlocked bootloader and installed custom TWRP recovery. I believe that radio is for this phone cause I have unpack it from official RUU for HTC VilleC. Any ideas?
Ok I've managed to make flashable zip, and i have succesfully flashed it with TWRP. But strange thing happened that Baseband numbers are still the same. So I have deceided to tray manually flash new radio, with "dd" command, again everything went well but still no change in baseband. I have also flash rcdata.img, still no change. Is it possible that on One S radio can't be flashed manully but only with running RUU??

[Q] bricked one s?

ok so i wanted to put stock sense 4.0.4 one my one s its the tmobile us version and i already had a unlocked bootloader and rooted so i relocked it nicely but when i went back it to fastboot/bootloader it says ****TAMPERED**** ****RELOCKED**** ****SECURITY WARNING**** and i tried to go into twrp but nothing just bots back to fastboot/bootloader and i tried to flash cwm image and it says this
./fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.8.3.1-ville.img
sending 'recovery' (6614 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
and nothing can anyone help at all?
I recommend using an RUU to return back to stock completely. What is the H-Boot version you have?

You don't need HTC sync, just download the drivers, and this way fastboot will work. Then run the RUU 1.84 while in fastboot and it should update.
ok i tired to use the ruu and it failed and i called htc and im just going to get it fixed by theme thanks for trying guys
You will most likely end up with a higher hboot with more restrictions.
As long as you can get into hboot/fastboot, you're not bricked. I don't believe it is ever necessary to re-lock and ruu. Especially on lower hboots. It may sometimes be necessary to flash a stock recovery, but that's it.
What I think you should have done (I realize that this is not helpful to you anymore at this point, but maybe interesting to others) is format system, data, cache, and then just flash the system and boot images from the RUU and SuperSu in recovery.
You could even have flashed all images from the RUU in recovery (system, boot, radio, adsp, wncss, rpm, tz).
-Jobo
Well I tried flashing a boot image from a rom and nothing it says security warning and doesn't flash
As long as you're (re-)locked, you can't flash anything.
I was able to RUU 1.84 version, however, all I get is the HTC white screen and then reboot over and over again.

Stuck in fastboot

Hello,
I have a Desire S, I think it has been first S-OFF with Alpharev (hboot 6.98-1002), and then a RUU has been patched (14.01.401.2). From now, the phone isn't able to boot anymore, I only have access to fastboot/bootloader
I've tried to flash the official hboot using fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
but it has not been flashed :
sending 'hboot' (1024 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.207s]
writing 'hboot'...
(bootloader) image update is bypassed!
OKAY [ 0.028s]
finished. total time: 0.239s
I've tried with ENG HBOOT, also tried by puting PG88IMG.zip on my SD card, fastboot detect it, tried to flash it but again, bypassed.
I'm a bit lost now, maybe someone could help me

I think this post is in the wrong section, you should post it on the Q/A section
oups my bad !
Don't repost. I've 'reported' your thread asking for it to be moved.
The problem is that the hboot version (6.98.x) is higher than 2.02.0002. Either flash the official hboot with the dd if= of= method, or flash an eng hboot with a lower version (0.98.x or 2.00.2002) (also with the dd method, instructions can probably be found in the hboot threads) and flash the RUU again.
Edit: another option would be to flash hboot 7.00.1002 by the PG88IMG.zip method, and then flash the PG88IMG.zip version of the Ics RUU (search the dev section).
Problem is, using the dd if= of= method requiere adb, which is not possible in my case, I only have fastboot.
edit : i'm trying with 7.00.1002 by PG88IMG.zip
Ok so 7.00.1002 using PG88IMG had worked, but my phone does not boot.
I'm trying to reflash RUU, see if it solves the problem. Or maybe I'm not flashing the correct RUU ?
Reflashing RUU and the phone is booting again !
Is there any way to get back to stock S-ON hboot ?

I think the only way would be the dd method (probably best flash a lower version number eng hboot, then flash the RUU again and it should overwrite everything).
