You could wait for rom manager as well. I think it has the option for installing CWM on stock!

Guys
I just made a cwm.zip with boot.img support (aka kernel)
I have already got a tester to test the backup, and it works perfect
I dont have a kernel to flash yet, so that will be next
Here is the download
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development-79/(cwm)-galaxy-y/new/#new
Im also going to make a stock boot.img with CWM inside, then you dont need to use the update.zip anymore
For those willing to test, please enter the madteam.co/forum and place your support there
Thanks,
Madteam
i will be tester
why dont you just upload it here ?
This one is also not a permanent recovery like skin1980.
everytime we have to boit intio stock recovery and apply update.zip from sdcard.
But THANKS for nice work.
Please provide tje kernel soon.
Also expecting an ICS ROM soon.
thanks a lot... at least now we will have full init.d support.

won't flash. it erases boot then it says that there's an error. an it reboots to recovery without starting the os.

above file cwm-madteam-galaxY.zip seems to work quite OK.
it still does display version # 5.0.2.6 though. if the other CWM-by-skin1980 was altered, maybe the version # should be 5.0.2.7 or so to tell them apart.
over here, cwm-madteam....zip it is still a temporary secondary recov menu. which is no big problem of course.
later edit: since 5.0.2.8 is out soon, above problem will be no concern soon either.
download cwm-madteam-galaxY.zip directly from this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21975604&postcount=456

FSTRIM on install
MD5: 5FC20ACAE047603EEB1B3C0A6BA7396A
Notes:
Should update bootloader. It is attached as a ZIP file but is not flashable! You need to fastboot flash it. For those in windows I have batch file in there along with ADB and fastboot.
First boot is a loooooooooooong time! About 5 to 7 minutes!
You must be on TWRP 2.8.1.0 for this ROM to Flash properly!
Troubleshooting
If you get no status bar reboot to recovery and clear all cache. If that doesnt work try flashing the factory image then flash TWRP again and then this ROM.
Getting Symlinks failed during install? Make sure /system is unchecked in TWRP mounts
Problems with internal storage? Look at THIS POST for fix by @freakzapster
Root doesnt work for a specific app? Contact the App developer. Do not post about it in this thread.
Shout-outs!
@Chainfire for Root!
@GROGG88 for all his help with my AOSP building!
Google because you finally made a decent ROM!
Please hit the Thanks Button! It cost nothing!
It's no harder than hitting Download!
MOD EDIT: Link removed as domain has expired. Thread closed until new links can be installed
Rules of the thread
Please do not ask for any bootloader help in this thread. If you cant do it then you need to use Google or start a Q/A thread.
Dont complain that certain root apps dont work. Its not the ROMS fault. Wait for your App Dev to join 2014.
Hit thanks!

However, this ROM is not a CleanROM. Its a stock rooted and all yours!
