[Q] Sense Rom with best battery life? - HTC Desire S

I'm looking for a Sense Rom (Sense 3 or Sense 3.5) with the best battery life which is also fast and stable.
Which One do you would recommend?

without a doubt

Thank you.
But what is the difference between deodexed and odexed version?

Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.

I like Virtuous Unity. Been using it for a few months now. It's fast and stable and there's a lot of support for it. I also overclocked my DS to 1.2Ghz (smartass governor) and undervolted it and it runs cool as ya like
It's a sense 3.0 ROM right now but the developers posted a note on their website about making it 3.5 when they can get hold of a HTC Runnymede RUU

[Q] best ROM ?

which is best custom rom for HTC D s ??
Stable for daily use
Good battery life
fast performance
No bugs
Best... hmmm, that's quiet personal.
I tried LBC Saga 0.5.3 which worked very good, but because off some minor issues (probably my own faults) I changed to Virtuous Unity 1.27...
So if you ask me --> beautiful sense 3.0, no lag/very smooth, better batterylife than stock, ... = Virtuous Unity 1.29!
However, like I mentioned, LBC Saga Mod is also a very good ROM...
Try them both out for a few days and see for yourself!
It's personal indeed but I think the Virtuous Unity ROM is the most stable version.
try miui

I really like Cyanogen on my old bravo desire. There is an unofficial port for the new saga desire, but I read it has GPS issues. I use my GPS daily so like the OP, I am wondering the best custom rom that has NO BUGS.
Going to try this virtuous one everyone is raving about.
Virtuous 1.29 and MIUI!
I've tried all the ROMS for Desire S and for me Virtuous 1.29 is the perfect ROM for our desire S! I love the full sense 3.0 experience!
MUIU rom is also great but it's not yet stable.

Ok, i tried virtuous 1.29 based on recommendations in this thread and others. I really like the look and feel. Could easily get used to it.
Some major issues restoring my backups though. A lot of the apps just won't work once restored, just get a force close button. Perhaps cos I am restoring from Cyanogen which I think was A2SD+ enabled? Would that cause issues?
OK, FIRST,Since you say NO BUGS, Don't try MIUI or CM7
For your first ROM, I'd recommend LBC Mod, the Dev provides a lot of support, it's close to stock and has all the best parts of Sense 3.
After that,Try Virtuous Unity.
Virtuous Unity ROM. Only bug I have faced is voice search does not work. Apart from that, it's perfect.
I've played about with LBC, Cordroid but have settled on Virtuous Unity.
To me it's just more stable but that's just my personal opinion.
The solution to voice search problem for Virtuous Unity v1.31.0 ROM
If your voice search does not work on Desire S for VU v1.31.0 ROM,
you may try the following steps.
1. extra the following three files from "/system/lib" in saga_lbc_mod_v0.5.3-full ROM:
libaudio.so
libhtc_acoustic.so
libvoicesearch.so
2. use the three files to replace your files in /system/lib/ on your Desire S.
3. reboot
it work for me.
good lucky!!
I use LBC and am aware of no bugs within it (that don't occur across all ROMs).
I've tried the other ROMs but always end up coming back to LBC.
IMO it's perfect, has Sense, is fast, decent battery life, it's close to stock and has good user and developer support and regular upgrades...

I tried Virtuous as my first custom ROM but didn't like the 3D homescreen. Also it feels laggy and some things look weird from the 16:9 to 15:9 resizing. Maybe it's fixed in the newer versions i don't know.
So i tried LBC since it's still using the 2.1 launcher. Had a couple of stability issues but it's fixed by using stock kernel. Now it's rock solid.
I didn't like the 3D Homescreen, too. Right now I'm back on rooted Stock ROM. For me the most useful ROM was LBC with update 0.54. Will try this again with stock kernel an new radio.
I tried Virtuous yesterday but for me is has now good battery life (though there are other oppinions) and, but I'm not shure, the camera app isn't working well indoors. Made some pictures and I think the stock app works better.
+1
used lbc mod and virtous today. going back to stock.
Great ROM,
Dont really like the customizations on lbc.
virtous. again great ROM, but personally dont like the way sense 3.0 uses upp sooo much RAM.
tested them each for 10 minutes. going back stock rooted rom. anyone suggest any customizations for a rooted stock ROM?

most of the customization on LBC rom can be removed easily
& custom ROMs take more RAM to make the device faster
after flashing a ROM you need to give it some time to see it at its full speed as it take time for the rom to setup things, give it a day or so
if you want animations you can try spare parts+ & anim mod(paid, you can also get this effect from uot kitchen)

I just tried leedroid ROM, really impressed with it! You should try it out! I removed most miss from it too, so pretty much stock now.
BTW, do you know how to change the HTC keyboard with arrows back to the old HTC keyboard without arrows?

i got bored and decided to try out all the roms and the only one i could see myself using was cyanogenmod. I think most the roms are stable so it's just about personal preference.

not bad,and more are there more skins
As of now, we can only see this one! Hope more would follow up soon!
can i uninstal the update from my phone to the stock 2.3.3 and sense 2.1 and then install 2.3.4 and sense 3.0
Yes, you can. But you have to root your phone and manually go to Android 2.3.4 ROM... With nonrooted phone you can't do that.
aha thanks, but i read somewhere here that the m10 tool's are updated what now when can we expect new skins, how to make an own skin..thanks my english is bad i hope you understand what i mean )
nagorimayank,
Thanks for that link. I just installed the skin and it's really smart. Much nicer than the few built in ones available.
Hopefully people will make some more soon!

You're welcome guys!! I'm new in this forum and trying give a push start with some help!
there are no custom skins that work really good on sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5,there is honey hd whitch is a peace of crap and revolucion hd and it is not better than honey hd sou both of skins are full crap hd,hhhh
Given the fact that you have been slapped around verbally before for asking the same questions over and over again, despite getting the answer from different respected members of XDA, it might be worth you watching what you say on here.
If you think that the current skins are "crap" then maybe you should stop being so lazy, learn to program and create some yourself. I happen to think that HoneyHD is actually quite smooth and nice and I have great respect for the people who can do all this stuff - which I have no hope of doing myself.
Otherwise I would suggest, politely of course, that you shut up, stay quiet and wait like a good little boy.

not working on the latest htc update sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5,crap
I can also confirm that the glass skin does not work on sense 3.0 with 2.3.5 although reading through the posts of the thread is sounds like the glas skin is made using a different resolution to that of the stock HTC Desire S ROM.
Maybe this skin only works if using a different ROM with a different resolution?
that is because it was made for 2.3.4,and all of the custom skins in the android market allso where made for android 2.3.4,someone told me we must wait for the update of m10 tools,i read somewhere that the m10 tool's are updated what now no skins yet,i don't think it will ever be skins for sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5 (

Senseless ARHD 6.5.0 ICS?

Is There anyway to get a senseless version of Mikes ICS ARHD Rom?
I know that there's plenty on senseless ICS Rom but I Figured a ARHD Senseless rom would be the fastest considering all the Gpu, Cpu and ram tweaks it has.
THANKS

You can use Nonsense Script 1.6 to remove Sense. (search from Addons section in ARHD 6.5.0 thread)
Otherwise, you could use Root Explorer (require root) to remove HTC system app (widget, ereader, games...) from phone system.
I have tried this script, it works, but is using Go Lunch, you can using NAVA launch to instead of it, should have better performance

Yea its using go launcher i was hoping for more of a stock look i like sense better then go launcher and i didn't see any increase in performance actually it may have been slightly worse
Go find that AOSP theme in the Themes and Apps section. It's not really a theme though, it's a complete overhaul that removes Sense and installs ICS AOSP components (leaves the Sense camera). It's what the Virtuous team uses to make V.I.
Edit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470497
There ya go. Just install ARHD if you don't already have it and install this afterwards. Make sure you have 4EXT instead of CWM, you need it for the installer.

Themes for Hypernonsense Roms?

Hi fellow XDA'ers. I have been searching for themes for Hypernonsense ICS Roms and can't seem to find any other then the black and white theme that rom comes with and the stock blue holo theme. So can any of u guys post links to good themes for Hypernonsense rom pls.
I loved theming on AOKP and MIUI, but the overall performance and battery life is not even close to satisfaction compared to HNS as per my usages..

I'm not sure you are able to use another themes (the same as in AOKP ROMs) because HyperNonsense is based on Sense. If you want ROM with lot of themes search AOKP based ROM.

Try this one, but I think you can only use statusbar mod because HNS hasn't got Rosie.
You can use every MOD/THEME posted in Themes and Apps section which is dedicated for Sense 3.6 because HNS is based on Sense 3.6 and should work.
Well is there any way to have the stock htc theme back on the Hypernonsense rom. I really wanna keep the rom but would like the original htc theme in all the applications and ui.

No. The original HTC theme IS Sense. Hypernonsense, by definition, deletes all Sense UI.
Sent from a rebel ship by storing the message in an R2 unit. (Help me, XDA. You're my only hope)

So suppose I want to theme the Hypernonsense Rom, I will have to pull the individual apk from the rom and manually theme every ui element? Can I extract aokp theme and replace the png in the stock Rom?

[MOD] SuperCharger - Maximum MultiTasking for Sensation - [1 NOV]

You think you managed to multitask the most? Think again!
As some of you may know, from Froyo onwards, Android has an app running limit of 15. Additionally, when an app is inactive for 30 minutes, it is KILLED by the system.
To those who think that these limits are unnecessary, you would be happy to know that the founder of the V6 Supercharger mod, zeppelinrox, has managed to bypass the app limit AND the service inactivity limit with his script. I am sure no introduction is needed for the man whose mod is widely implemented in many of XDA's ROMs. See his new -Ultimate Jar Power Tools- thread.
After running his script for some time, I can safely say that it does make a difference! I am able to multitask more, and probably experienced better battery life as the system is not required to relaunch app after app. Of course, the amount of apps you can run ultimately depends on your phone's RAM.
With the Windows tool from pepcisko, I created the flashable zips for services.jar for the various ROMs. See his thread here.
Attached are the services.jar files for the various ROMs:
Flashable zips:
Android Revolution HD 6.7.2 - update-signed-arhd
Opensensation 30/09 - update-signed-opensensation
Virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2 - update-signed-virtuous
Hypernonsense 3.5 - update-signed-hypernonsense
Elegancia Blitz 3.1.0 and Pegasus 3.1.0 - update-signed-elegablitz
AOKP JellyBean 25/09 - update-signed-aokpjb
Energy 24/6 - update-signed-energy
Hypersensation v3.1 (CM9) - update-signed-hypersensationcm9
SmartDroid Beserk 2.3 - update-signed-smartdroid2.3
JBMIUIv4.1 - update-signed-jbmiui
Coredroid Sensation XE & 4G v5.1 - update-signed-coredroid
Android Revolution HD 6.8.0 - update-signed-arhd680
Elegancia Pegasus and Blitz 3.5.0 - update-signed-elegancia-blitz-pegasus-3.5.0
Bruce's CM10 - update-signed-cm10-30102012.zip
The above services.jar gives you: A Bulletproof Launcher, Maximum Overdrive (termed coined by zeppelinrox to denote the ability to run up to 70 hidden apps), and the Time Killer Killer (30 minute service inactivity limit increased to 24 hours, again termed by zeppelinrox).
For those on Sense 4 and above ROMs, a Non-Sense App Limit, on TOP of the above mods, is added due to the additional restrictions introduced with Sense 4. Read more about it here
Services.jar file:
ViperS 1.3.5 - services-viper135
Elegancia Sense 4 3.30 - services-elegancia3.30
Flashable:
ViperS 1.3.5 - ViperS135-ServicesMOD-signed (courtesy of TJD319)
If you are using the standalone services.jar file, just replace it in system/framework and ensure that the same permissions are applied.
WHETHER YOU ARE USING THE FLASHABLE ZIP OR THE STANDALONE SERVICES.JAR FILE, BE SURE TO WIPE DALVIK CACHE AND REBOOT.
Personally, I enabled Zram and created a 256MB swap partition and was able to notice the increased performance. So do try it out. Yank555 has a thread dedicated to creating a swap partition here.
So, BEFORE you download or do anything, MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP and know what this mod does. Do remember to make a backup of your original services.jar before updating, in the case that this mod made you worse. Well, hopefully not.
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for anything untoward that may happen from using this mod.
Again, full credit goes to pepcisko for his patcher tool and zeppelinrox for his scripts. Do consider donating to them if you like their work!
Do read their threads to find out more or try out various other mods like the 3g Supercharger or KickassKernel!
I will include more ROMs in the list at my discretion. Meanwhile, do give your feedback and ENJOY!!

1 Nov:
Added Bruce's CM10 30/10 Build

So I'm a bit confused. In no way am I a noob but I may be asking a noobish question. Do we need to apply a Non-Sense App Limit mod along with this mod?
For instance, I'm on ViperS 1.3.5 and I'm wondering if its necessary to follow the steps for Sense 4+ ROMs with the Non-Sense App Limit. Or does this mod for ViperS include that already?

Backup the original services.jar. copy n paste with Root Explorer and set permissions. Reboot to recovery and clear Dalvik. Reboot and you're reverted.
Or waste time and SD Card space an advance backup the system.
