Best battery life with custom rom/kernel - T-Mobile LG G2x

Suggestions? I currently use cm7 151 with faux's oc/uv 0.4.2 kernel. Not really happy with battery life, only get about 7 hours with moderate use. I have great signal everywhere I go.

I'm in the same boat. 8 hours ish on Weapon 2.7 - doesn't matter which kernel, or how much I undervolt it.

Eaglesblood 2.3.5 with faux 42 oc/uv best combo ever everything works

How heavy is your usage and how long does the battery last?

I'm going to give EB 2.2 a try seeing as it's new with faux's kernel and hopefully have a better time with it then last time.
Hope to post back with good results battery-wise.

I get about 12 hours with Eagleblood and the kernal it comes with. I use setCPU to lower the clock speed when the screen is off. I can use the phone at work for most of my 10 hour shift listening to music and browsing facebook or other apps that use data on my lunch and breaks along with texting a lot throughout my shift.

I know this thread is about batt life, but what about games are there any rom / kernel combos that make games look and run better?
I'm using xboarders stock debloated and tweaked rom with stck kernel and I also get about 12 hours of light to moderate use in a day.
fauxs kernel causes my phone to black screen and shut off some times.

im using EB 2.2 Faux 4.2 the one that dose no OC or UV and it took me 8 hours of super heavy usage trying to waist my battery for me to drain it hope this helps

My solution is My custom overlay on cm7 nightly 158 with faux123's cm7 kernel STANDARD VOLTAGE with setcpu tuning it down to the second to lowest voltage when the screen goes off. My battery lasts about 35 hours!!!! I know this because I took an overnight trip.

Setcpu for infused

Do any of you guys use it on your infused? I have it and would like to use it but I've read a few things were setcpu doesn't doing anything with a custom rom. Id like to get all I can out of my battery.

Most of us who are using infusion (available in the dev section) are using voltage control, pretty much the same thing in a different app but it seems to play nicer with said kernel

I'm using SetCPU with the Infusion kernel as it's the first app I paid for, and I feel weird about switching apps right after I paid for one.
Man it's so confusing to have the Infused ROM and Infusion kernel.
What's the difference between infused and infusion? I'm going to a redsox game next week via bus trip and really need to maximize battery.

For using Voltage Control u need to update the kernel. The default supplied one does not allow to use the Voltage Control app available in market (tried just now to make sure).

Infused is a ROM and Infusion is a kernel. Both can be found in the Infuse 4G development page. I've noticed a battery increase with Infused, just make sure you do it a day or two before you leave to get the most out of your battery. Details are in the forum.

Infused is an alternative ROM which eliminates a lot of AT&T bloat. Some of the things it eliminates are notorious battery hogs. It contains a kernel with mild improvements from stock.
Infusion is an alternate kernel that introduces extra improvements from the Community Voodoo kernel included with Infused, including undervolting and overclocking. Undervolting can improve your battery life at the risk of stability impacts if you UV too much, OC will sacrifice battery for the sake of performance.
You can install the Infusion kernel over the Infused ROM.
Note: If you are in an area with weak cell signal, your battery life is going to be crud no matter what you do unless you go into airplane mode.

Thanks for the great reply. I'm at work over 9hrs per day and when I'm in the actual building my phone bounces between 1 bar edge, 1 bar 3g and no service. If I keep the phone still on my desk it'll be all set but once I start walking around here comes no service.

Are you rooted and have 3e recovery? If not, just jump over to the development section and read the root instructions and 3e instructions.
There is a great guide in the thread for the Infused ROM on how to go from rooted+3e -> custom rom, in the original post.

Yes I'm rooted and I've been running infused rom for a few weeks now. I just really need to maximize my battery. My phone has been off the charger from a full charge for less than an hour and I'm down to 87%, btw I've used my phone for about 15 of the total 60 minutes it's been off the charger.

Really, time to empty is what you need to pay attention to. Our fuel gauge seems to be a bit wacky, sometimes it can drop 10% in an hour, then it'll drop 10% over the following 4 under the same workload. I think the drain isn't actually changing, just the display of state of charge.
As an example, at one point yesterday I dropped 10% in an hour with the screen off for nearly all of it. Then I threw it on the charger and regained 9% in 20 minutes - even with my tweaked charge current it NEVER does that. I think what happened is that the original 10% drop was bogus, I got it back so fast because it was never really gone to begin with.

[Q] Infused 1.5.3 battery life?

I am running Infused 1.5.3 right now and was wondering if I would get better battery life running a custom kernel like Defused, Infusion Kernel 1.8, or Bionix. I just flashed my phone and am new to the Android and Infuse community. I am coming from a iPhone. Your opinions would be helpful. I am trying to figure out why my battery life kinda sucks right now and I am looking into a custom kernel. Which kernel you guys using?

If you install Infusion 1.8 and undervolt without overclocking, it will improve things somewhat.
If it's still bad, uninstall all apps, then install them one by one until you figure out which one is hosing your battery life.
The kernal that came with the infused is working just fine with me. The defuse gave me horrible battery life. But yeah, take entropy advice.

I am using CM7, faux .35 kernel up to 1.55 and the new baseband with the update. I currently only have it set at 1.1ghz, no problems and super fast, with moderate/heavy use today I am still at 20% after about 9 hours. and at 1.1ghz I am getting around 3300 quadrant scores. I played around with the max 1.55 and the phone was smooth and fast, quadrant scores close to 5K, and it didn't feel any hotter than normal.
The only lag I got was when I lowered the mV's so I kept them where they were and no problems.
On my other ROM I am using xboarders stock GB +Root, and the stock kernel w/ new baseband and that one runs super smooth too, but of course I can't OC.
Nice to know what everyone is using.
I forgot too mention I'm using profiles and I just overclocked it to 1.55ghz.

I got a profile in case it overheats to clock down to 800ghz.

Im running eaglesblood with Trinity so far its been pretty sweet.Eaglesblood alone was great on the battery.Just installed trinity early this morning charging up now to see how the battery last today.
which one you use from this list:
Current G2x Kernels for 2.3.5+ builds: (Only for Nightly 173 and up)
ELP 15112011 (1.1GHz Battery Safer)
T15 15112011 (1.54GHz Fun Edition)
Previous G2x Kernels for 2.3.5+ builds:
ELP 06102011b (1.1GHz Battery Safer)
T15 06102011b (1.56GHz Fun Edition)
ELPmax 14102011 (1.1GHz Battery Safer)
ELPmax EBlogo 14102011 (1.1GHz Battery Safer)
T15max 14102011 (1.56GHz Fun Edition)

?
ELP 06102011b (1.1GHz Battery Safer)
So far battery life is really good.
I'm on ELP 15112011 and it's very stable. Having trouble with my prox sensor though... might try to reflash or something.
I just went back to my latest back up of just Eaglesblood rom itself.I had the phone where it wouldnt wake up when hitting power button. It was just black with a very dim light in the background.
Testing it without trinity to see if thats what caused it.
So does Trinity kernel give better battery life than the CM7 kernel?
Not trying to highjack the thread but whats the best kernel for MIUI? Im running the lastest MIUI and kernel is CM7 faux
I have tried to put faux kernel on Eagles's blood but everytime I try I reboot and get a black screen after lg - tried low volt and regular ...
I like CM stock. Just works.

Well, that's not comforting. Are you using CM7? Did you clear all caches before updating the kernel? What exactly is the "reboot issue" anyway?

Poll: Trinity vs Faux

Just gauging how many of you are still using Trinity kernel considering it hasn't been updated in months, while Faux is continually working on his kernel.
I've noticed freezing/overheating issues with Faux but I like that it's updated often enough.
Edit: By no means am I putting down Trinity kernel, just interested in the numbers

I prefer Trinity. It's been stable for some time and I can run my G2x for 35+ hours on moderate use. I've used Faux, but somehow I came back to Trinity.
On ICS:
I used Harsh when I was on ICS. But my experience in ICS generally has not been good (LG/NVidia not releasing drivers). So I came back to GB.

On stock based 2.3.4 I like the stock kernel or Faux 014b2. On CM7 based I prefer TrinityELP for stability and batt life. I do find since Faux's 050 builds battery seems as good as ELP, and Faux has seemed to make scrolling super smooth. But Faux is still just a bit unstable on my phone. I am currently using the djvoleur adaptation of Harsh for CM7 roms. Its good too. I've had no probs with flashing between any of these kernels other than LED touch keys cannot be set to off when using Faux or Harsh.
I am a fan of all 3 - really...
Trinity ELP for GB
I tried everything out there and always go back to that. Fast, smooth, and good battery life. Plus it seems to be the only one that my phone's bluetooth can stay connected to my car's stereo. with other kernel (maybe coincidence), the two refuse to connect after a few connect/disconnect cycles.
also, many people say 24+ hr of moderate use. Is that with stock battery?
to me, moderate use = 3-4hr screen on time. 1hr phone call. wifi, BT, 4G, GPS always left on. 50% screen brightness. I typically get 12-18hr with trinity.
Heavy would be 5+hr screen on and more
Trinity gives me sleep of death, faux overheats and freezes I'm using the kernel that came with cm7 without any problems. Though I did get the SOD before I installed the build.prop tweaks
