[Q] Reboot on auto screen off - HTC Sensation

Hi,
I have an issue that when I set a "Screen timeout" (Settings/Display) to turn off the screen after an idle time, the phone reboots always when this waiting period expires.
I'm using Pyramid3D, tried all versions up to 7.9.0XE, but the issue still exists.
Thanks for your help, and sorry for my bad(?) English

Same Here!!!
After screen idle ime out - reboot every time!!!
If i go manually lock, then wake, after idle time all ok, but if it is unlocked after idle time out reboot.
My device is Sensation
[curent ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 3.6.2 XE
kernel radio and everything from ARHD 3.6.2
Here is history of flashing:
stock device for Indian market
rooted by revolutionary
flashed leaked Indian device ruu with s-off
rooted stock rom
flashed ARHD 3.6.1
flashed crt screen on/off
flashed custom lock ring made by me
////////since here ni problem at all/////
flashed ARHD 3.6.2
flashed custom lock ring made by me
flashed crt screen on/off
flashed custom lock ring made by me
///// problem noticed after using it at this point
I cant determine or say if it where OK after 3.6.2 flashed because after first reboot i flashed CRT screen of/on and custom lock ring.
On other topics, similar problem with different device, possible blamed undervoltage.
I hope some1 can help us.
cheer to all

Same Here!!
I tried Synergy's Rom,Sense-o-Maniac_Sense3.5_Beats_v1.4.1 and Insertcoin 3.3.5 the same thing kept happening but it stop once I switch back to stock. I thought I was the only one.

Same here. But it only happens when the phone is plugged in for charging/disk drive. after the set idle time expired, there comes the reboot thing.....
Running ARHD 3.6.4 on Bricked v1.5 kernel
After using this set up for a few days I think it would be fun flashing the crt screen on/off and camera mod(not sure what this mods for : any idea?)
Then the auto screen off reboot arrives...
So far what I did is wipe cache and davlik cache on CWM reinstall my previous backup(w/out the crt and cam mods) then reflashed the crt screen on/off..
So far so good.. but I didnt reflashed the camera mod since I dont know what it does LOL
Hope this helps

AHA! found the real culprit. Its the crt mod
Charging or not my Sensation reboots on screen off IF my Brightness is on 0% since Im using power control tools(Brightness triple). But any % > than 0 on the brightness level it all good. Kinda weird
This may be correlated to undervolting. Im not sure though, but I notice that everytime your screen will turn off the screen will dim first then there goes the crt animation IMHO
I assume if your brighness level is set to zero and the crt animation will initiate it cannot dim further thus will result to reboot(Its not a complete reboot though more like hotboot which reload the GUI only)
Just restore my previous backup and I didnt flashed the crt mod.. currently looking for newer version or newly developed one for ARHD.

c-pain, that is exactly my problem. I have it at 0% brightness and when the timer is up, it reboots the GUI. I was freaking out thinking my phone was busted. Now I have it at 25% and all is fine. Crossing my fingers that this solves my problem. I have the CRT mod and it didn't matter if I had it turned on or off (I'm using the King Cobra 1.6 ROM). Until I read your post to turn up the brightness nothing I tried worked. Thanks so much.

Very interesting c-pain, but how can i correct it without sstop using CRT animations.
Because i want to use CRT animations and stop to reboot randomly.

In my case I still got the CRT animation flashed/installed. Just avoid setting the brightness to zero, as it will cause the reboot on screen off.
I have my brightness level at 5% or 10% at night, instead of zero percent.
Im still searching if there's an update or something for arhd crt animation though

I will try different ROM, because i have a lot of drain battery problems and i have this problem also.
Perhaps, I will cook my own ROM o have just what I want, and stop to flash fews zip.

hey guys, how are you?
i am looking for the CRT animation settings and cannot find it (CRT was inserted in the ROM i am currently using - Er3bus XL). so i was wondering if there actually is a settings menu for the CRT or not. if not, where do i go to set brightness for when the screen dims? i know its a pretty noobish question, but i checked in the brightness menu in settings and cant find screen dim settings

Wifi not turning off after screen is off

My rule for wifi is to turn off when screen if off. I notice that my mail is still coming thru when the screen is off.
I'm getting a lot of battery drain. Anyone know what I can do to solve this issue?
What do you guys use for the rule of wifi to reduce battery?
what rom/kernel are you using (you should always mention thse when asking a question like this fyi). revolver just fixed this problem yesterday, try updting your rom/kernel....
I'm using the latest stock rom..I think 3.2?
How do you update the stock rom or solve this issue?
Root and flash a custom rom. Revolver 3.2.1 fixed this issue i think...
Sent from my TBolt using my f***king thumbs...
I am on stock 3.2 and no problems. Have you checked the battery info. That is the best time to check how much time the TF has been on and how much time wifi has been on.
It's true that wifi doesn't disconnect as soon as screen goes off. It maybe takes some minutes for wifi to actually go off. Also, if I am using any app that uses wifi (like radio streaming), wifi won't turn off.
Anywy, most of the time wifi will go out just a couple of minutes after screen goes off. Check settings, running apps and battery stats.
Regards.
The stock rom is set to time out 10 minutes after the screen is turned off I believe. The revolver rom now has an option in revolver parts to set how long till the wifi is disabled.
There are several apps that keep wireless and/or GPS alive after screen is off. This is due to the way the OS handles apps after you stop using them. Try turning off TF then restart and without running any apps, let is sleep. Then check to see if wireless went off.
same issue
Hey, I'm having a similar issue.
I'm on a B70 running revolver 3.11 and a stock kernel and I've noticed my wifi intermittently toggles the disconnect policy to "never" instead of "when screen is turned off".
I thought it was part of the custom wifi timeout from revolver parts but according to battery usage in settings (and massive battery drain) the wifi isn't actually being switched off when the device isn't in use (tablet idle rarely shows top of the list).
I've tried flashing new roms and kernels but haven't been able to work out the specific cause of the problem or how to fix it. I would have posted in the revolver discussion to find out how the wifi timeout is managed as this might have given a clue but alas I am a noob

Honeycomb is not good at keeping wifi off with the screen when other apps request a connection
Grab "Auto Airplane Mode - by Don" from the market free and it does exactly that, screen off = radios off, screen on = radios on
Well my TF wifi off with screen off work except it work too good.
It work but after it goes to deep sleep it does not want to turn back on ( would need a reboot of TF for it to work again) so I set Wifi sleep policy to never and use Auto Airplane Mode.
Prime 2.1.1 w/ Prime OC kernel

Downloaded this app and it works a treat. I'm a bit anal so I'll keep trying to investigate why the system isn't doing what it should but its nice to have something to save the battery in the meantime.

Failure screen brightness at different roms

Hello.
I have one year the nexus S, and during that time I spent three or four times the following.
I turn off the phone and when you turn it lose screen brightness by 50%. And I have to leave at 100% brightness and do not know how to recover the brightness.
It has happened in different roms.
How could restore the default value without being forced to change rom every time I pass?
Which ROMs are they? Which kernel?
It has happened with these roms.
FASTEST ICS 4.04 03/03/12 Pixel Rom 1.60
Codename android (varias versiones)
CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.9 HYBRID+Matr1x 17.5
I have proven different kernels, which come in the roms and Matrix.
what about stock roms ? are you on auto brightness ? auto brightness always behaves strangely ...
I stoped using auto brightnes. Too annoying. . Stock user
Sent from my Nexus S
Once I had to re install the original rom ice cream to see if the brightness again. I got back the shine, but it happens again with other roms. Sometimes installing rom cuaquier recovers brightness.
The funny thing is, sometimes when I install the new rom, the first time does not recover the brightness, and i install the rom and it works.
Brightness What strikes me in both manual and automatic mode.
I try restarting many times to see if I recover the brightness and does not work. Yesterday remove the battery, and recovered the brightness.
It is very rare ...

[Q] Volume button Powers on?

Hi,
I flash every ICS Rom until now, Im on Superlite 4.2 right now (which is perfect - IMO) but I just notice that the phone wake up and turn LCD on if I hit the volume button (normally accidentaly) which cause my battery to die much faster.
Is this a bug or is just how ICS is???
Could you tell me is this issue present in your current Rom??
Thank you for your help

Its not a bug, thats the way ICS works. ICS actually drains your battery quicker than any other rom out there.

I'm running the same rom and volume buttons don't wake for me.
And I've had great battery life, much better on ICS...

its not a bug. if u use 15 toggle mod and have lockscreen disabled, ot have it disabled normally, then the phone will wake on volume press. Its actually a good feature, prevents premature powr button wear.
Like any other rom, ics requires at least two power cycles before u can judge battery life. My worst drain on certain roms (10% per hour at idle, no sync at all), turned out to bebthe best after a few cycles. On tpx i was getting 1% every 1 hour 45 min, which insane. Give it a few days to settle

I have been changing settings in 15 toggle for about 30min, I can't change it. No matter what I do, the phone keeps waking up with volume buttons. Could you give me some light - what im doing wrong?
try a fix perm in cwm. When i disable lockscreen with toggle it allows me to wake with volume. If u want to DISABLE this feature, use settings > security > screen lock, and have it set to swype or pattern or anything else, and have lock automatically set to immediately

[Q] WiFi issue at night

Hi, I currently run Android Revolution HD 6.6.5 with Faux kernel for ICS v6 - recently I have noticed that after midnight if I leave the phone for some time all my data connections switch off (WiFi and mobile data). As soon as I unlock the screen they turn back on and work for around 15 minutes or so after screen goes back off then they turn off again. I have WiFi set to Never turn off and have tried toggling the setting. Is there something I'm missing as it never does it in the daytime, only through the night and only if not on the charger?
I have tried setting WiFi to FAST in a Terminal as I saw Faux had added a power saving setting in v6 which I don't need.
Then it's in the kernel, the power saving option is making it do that. Perhaps wipe re flash, and choose a different kernel. One without the power save in it. Hope this helps.

Not sure if it's still the case but on Sense 3.6 ICS releases the WiFi sleep policy was reversed i.e. never turn off was turn off after 15 minutes and vice versa.

Aah, I will try setting it to 'After 15 minutes' to see if that makes a difference. Strange it only happens late at night though
This happens to me too.
I am on ARHD 6.6.7 with Bricked 1.1. My wi-fi also will turn off during the most of the night. If I leave it idle during the day wi-fi stays on, so it seems like there is some kind of power saving set to turn off wi-fi at night hours.
I will add that I had the same problem when I used the Faux kernel.
Anyone else have the same problem?
I came to this forum for the exact same reason, my wifi AND mobile internet shut down during 0 and 7a.m. after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Turns out it is a software related problem, HTC messed up with its ICS battery saving feature which can NOT be controlled in the system settings. For some strange reason it only affects a few users tho.
Anyhow, the forum search gave me the solution. What you need is the SmartSyncDisabler app from the play store. Install, set to disable ActiveSync and REBOOT your device.

Screen goes totally black when using lux auto brightness

The current rom im running that has the problem is cleanrom ultralight, I have had it before on cleanrom and i think some builds of stock roms, dont think CM10 ever gave me this problem.
When I run lux auto brightness and set the slider to a subzero setting, when I run most apps (but not all) the screen goes totally black. One example is setcpu, and it also happens when I launch lux settings. One example where it works fine is nova launcher. If I press the screen on top where the status bar is, and "grab" the status bar, screen reappears until I let status bar go, where screen goes black again.
Basically on most apps using lux in subzero setting causes screen to be totally black but still clickable. Any ideas?
Screen filter app doesnt cause this problem, but lux serves my needs better.

Hey sfetaz,
This is the first I've heard of this issue. It sounds like transparency is being lost somehow. I'd take this issue up with the Cleanrom devs, chances are they changed something they shouldn't have.
Hi,
I have the same issue as described by sfetaz. If I set the brightness to sub-zero (-1 is sufficent), the screen goes to minimum sub-zero brightness (-90) after a few moments in most apps. Sometimes it looks like this happens only if screen content doesn't change for a while. This does not happen if brightness is set to 1 or higher.
I use Lux Lite on a Motorola RAZR HD (XT925) running CyanogenMod 10.2. The issue exists since CyanogenMod 10.2 nightly build 2013-10-19. On 2013-10-18 everything is OK for me.
BBQLog (changelog.bbqdroid.org) shows some display related changes in CyanogenMod on 2013-10-18 and 2013-10-19.
I know 10/20 there was an update for the display. I ran it on PACman with no issues, and I am now on the 10/25 Vanir. No issues with either. I did notice this morning that when I load the default values, that I only load the 2 setting gs I have set, 0 and 2000 or 20000 can't remember off hand. I have my 0 set for -40 and it dims the screen correctly.
This post was made by Vanlandi.
On my RAZR HD (XT925), the problem persisted upto CM-10.2 Snapshot-M1 (2013-11-02).
After flashing CM-10.2 Nightly 2013-11-06, overlays (sub-zero, night/astronomer) mode are functional again.
It had something to do with the overlay. Normal brightness adjustments (>=1) worked as expected. Going to sub-zero or enabling Night/Astronomer Mode, screen content got barely visible after some seconds. When I enabled alternative overlay, the screen went totaly black (sub-zero) or red (night mode). (havn't tried astronomer mode with alternative overlay)
For me, this issue is resolved on the current CM Nightlys for XT925.
