[scripts] unvisible tweaks - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

i put togather a cwm and RA flashable zip of all the scripts i use. i was tired of having to flash 4 diff. zips each time so i made this and decided to share. it contains...
juwe's ram script
smokinl337's sicktweaks
SD card speed fix (4096kb)
i use this on my htc evo 4g running CM7 nightly 215 with savagedzen kernel and these scripts make a HUGE improvement.
i didnot write these scripts, i just put them all togather. thanks to juwe and smokin1337.
download from: www.unvisible.org/unvisibletweaks.zip

reserved for future use.

bump bump bump

Thx luciferii, and of course it goes to juwe and smokin1337. Rlly Nice.
I applied the zip file with Clockwork Mod, chosing "install zip from card", it seemed to work well but after this progress i couldn t find any tweak files in the initd.
Did i mbe something wrong?

I had that kind of problem earlier but its already solved. before installing it, try to mount /system and mount /data. it should work by now..

the zip mounts /system the /data partition has nothing to do with it so im not sure why mounting /system before the script mounts it would do anything.

This is awesome... I noticed a big difference right away... Thanks!

How does one check if this installed correctly and does what is supposed to do ?

Editing system.img/YAFFS2 (custom ROM creation)

Basically I just want a stock ROM base with the sprint crap taken out and unrevoked added in with some other app mods.
I've grabbed all the sources for YAFFS2/yaffs2Utils and compiled them using cygwin.
Now when I go to extract the system.img all I get is a fonts folder.
I'm setting up a virtual linux machine to try to mount the image instead, but in the meantime anyone care to assist me?

Since you claim it works, I'll take your word for it and say I can't thank you enough!
(even if it doesn't do what I need, it should one step forward nonetheless)

It seems to be worthless for EVO, only generates update files...I can't even use it to extract the filesystem from system.img
my experience has been working with rfs and not yaffs2 so far.
i think you'll be needing yaffs2 tools, like unyaffs2, etc.
i googled, android system.img mount. seems like a great place to start:

If you are rooted with toast, you can flash the custom roms made with that kitchen. you can add or remove apk files before recompiling to the update zip format. I am typing this from my customized rom I made with that kitchen. The kitchen can root the rom for you, add apps2sd (havent tested that) and add wifi tether. I mainly went this routw as io wanted a rooted .6 rom to use after rooting with the Toast method. I am an Android newbie but managed to do this

I already said it's useless and I said why, it generates update files...
I need to actually extract/mount the original system, that is precisely what the thread title is about.
From the command line you can create a system dump using the following command
tar -cvf /sdcard/system.tgz /system
assuming both /sdcard and /system are mounted. you may have to use "busybox tar" instead.
You can run it from recovery mode.
To mount the filesystems while in adb shell use
"mount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system" to mount system
and
"mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sdcard" to mount sdcard
if needed
As for making an update.zip you can take an existing one and replace the system directory inside it with your own custom one. Rezip it, no need to resign it for the EVO recovery, and flash away. Oh, and you'll have to delete any symlinks from the /system/bin directory inside the zip before flashing.

What do you need for UOTkitchen?

You need:
Framework-res
Twframework-res
SystemUI
Where have you found the file?
In the 2.3.6 thread? If yes thats the reason why it isn't working
This one is for 2.3.5

There is no "stock" CWM. Have you installed FeaMod Recovery?
If you have the stock recovery-mode, then its completely ordinary, that it wont work, because this is no CWM.
EDIT: You can find twframework-res.apk under /system/framework/.
ok..
and is it a lot work to install FeadMod??
I thougt it would work becouse i can root mu device with this..
EIT: just tried to flash the zip file, and it says completed.
rebooted my phone, but nothing changed
So... i need feadmod.
I saw a topic about this and it's a little much for me have blicked my phone one time so.... little scared.
i think i just wait for rom manager and that stuff.
Makes everything much easier

you do need a custom CWM.
That's the reason why you get the error
Sent from my GT-I9001 using XDA App
did you use the in-build recovery or the CWM version? The zip file comes from the kitchen doesn't work in the in-build recovery. You have to update the updater-script file
If you go to the recovery and find it shows"Android system recovery <3e>", then it's the in-build recovery
WORKAROUND if flashing doesn't change anything:
1. Reboot into recovery (CWM Recovery!)
2. Manually mount /system and /data from recovery menu ("Mounts and Storages")
3. Flash the UOT file
Can you just flash feadmod with odin as a one package or is there more to do?
I saw somthing as you need to make a backup and stuff?
In the FeaMod thread every of your questions was asked before. Please read a bit in the threads and think about it.

I flash the zip file from UOT on my GF's 9003 in CWM and also aborted.
The CWM is the one comes with CF-ROOT-DXKP9-Ext4-With-Extra-06-11-2011.
Later I update the updater-script and then it works.

Know how to write files to run in CWM?

Im trying to find someone that knows how to write files that can run as a zip in CWM. , I'm wondering what I would need to do to create a file my self to run in cwm to "install zip" that will delete a specific file. I installed a new boot animation in the system/media file called sanim.zip. The animation ran, but never completed. No matter how many times I reboot. But it gets me to the point where I can plug my computer in and access the SD card. So if i could create this file, I could run it in CWM to delete the sanim.zip file and not have to do a wipe on the phone. Any help? Please?
You didn't think to make a backup first? Otherwise, I'm not sure if the charge uses edifying or amend scripting, but that's how you make update zips.

negative. I made no backup. I wasnt thinking. But its booting into the phone. I can even call it and it rings. But the boot animation is still the only thing that will load on the screen
You could always use adb to do this -
BUT if you want to take a shot using this feel free. WARNING - I really don't know if it will work, as I've never tried to do such a task with this particular approach. Good luck!
I'm not 100% positive that the process is the same for any Android phone (I have an HTC Evo with CWM) but I don't see why not. In order to create flashable zips you really need a few things:
1. you need to write an edify script and name it updater-script
2. you need to include the update-binary file (an interpreter for edify scripts)
3. you need to include any files to flash in the appropriate structure
There is more to it than this. You have to place files in the appropriate directory structure and you have to sign the zip as well. I'm honestly not sure what to put into an edify script to delete a file, but I really don't think that's necessary. You have a few options that are probably much easier than creating a flashable zip to delete the file:
- Restore from a backup that you made prior to flashing this sanim.zip file. You did create a backup first right? RIGHT!???? (P.S. *Always* make sure you have a backup before flashing anything in recovery!!!).
- You can just mount the /system directory in CWM. I think there is an option from the main screen called Mounts. Just go there and see if you can mount /system. I'm pretty sure you can. From there you should be able to navigate to the appropriate directory and delete the file.
Being able to mount the sdcard isn't going to help you because that's mounted at /mnt/sdcard. You need access to the /system mount point and I'm pretty sure that CWM can mount it for you. At least, I'm pretty sure this is an option in CWM on my Evo.
Good luck!
EDIT:
Ok I just posted and saw several comments before I finished typing up my reply -- including the link to the nosanim.zip file. If you extract the contents of that zip you will see the files updater-script and update-binary that I referenced. The script looks pretty simple -- most of it is just print statements to put output on the screen. Check it out and you can hopefully follow what it is doing. Looks like it should work, though you might still want to explore mounting things in CWM to see how it works. Hopefully that zip removes it and fixes everything up for you.
once I have /system mounted, how do I navigate through it? I dont see that as an option in CWM after mounting it

Oh I was expecting that it would show up as an external drive that you could navigate through on your computer. Like, connect it via USB, then mount /system in CWM, then you could browse it on your computer. I don't know though -- I have only ever mounted the sdcard in recovery.
Glad the zip file worked though. That's easy.

Thats strange...what are the two directories of the rar? it should download as a .zip...are you sure you downloaded the aeon rom? Did you use the link in the OP? what is the name of the .rar? Os it named aeon.rar or something like that?
also...i know your on a rooted stock rom, but do you have cwm recovery? That os also required for flashing roms...you cam easily get it by flashing qksters heimdall package of entropies latest kernel (heimdal is just like odin...except less steps involved...)
Also can you send me the link you downloaded from...either as a reply or pm doesnt matter...im curious what this rar is...

Not sure where you went for the AEON rom.
This is the main thread for AEON. It has a correct download link that is definitely a zip file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545239
thats the xact page i got it from but the 1st one listed kept taking me to a goofle drive page so i went on down the page and downloaded the aeon black chrome one. right under the change log stuff. also the rooted rom i have on mine has cwm red on it and i can access it through the recovery mode. the two files are meta-inf and system and they downloaded in rar format. i unrared them to my desktop and put them in afolder and renamed it update.zip. but i havent done anything since. also what is the fix permissions talked about on the aeon install instructions. the first rom aeon 1.3.1 from 5/8/12 is the one that took me to google drive. also the file said it was a winrar zip archive.
That's not the rom... Its a theme...
Anyways yeah just click download on the Google drive... Should take you to a Page that says can't do a virus scan... Then click continue and download anyway...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA
thx man, it was downloading while i was leaving for work. one more question. in the instructions on how to load it there is a fix permissions listed. i am not sure what that means, can you tell me anything about that.

He used Option C of the Odin packages I put together. That already has Entropy's latest daily driver kernel and CWM recovery. No need for Heimdall in this case.

Make sure you guys are extracting the the zip and putting the extracted recovery into the system/bin, not the whole zip.
You can also use the search and find where I reposted sduvicks fakeflash utility. It will install CWM for you.

replace the update.zip on the /root of the SD. No Odin required. Rename to update.zip, and place it straight on your SD.
That did not work until after I rooted it using RageAgainstTheCage
Re-upped by me here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?hn5ikyt6xpn8d9x
After doing that, then it allows the update.zip to work without failing signature check.
EDIT: Then I also used SuperOneClick to shell-root.

Ok guys the actual problem here is that there is a file missing that you need to push through to your "/system/bin" folder in your SK's root directory.
The missing file is the custom "recovery" binary file that krylon360 created. After doing so, either by ADB pushing the file or copy pasting it with a root file manager, you may boot into recovery then run the 'reinstall packages' command in the stock recovery. This in turn loads the new recovery.....
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MOUNTS IN CUSTOM RECOVERY. It will save you an accidental pain in the ass. Trust me.
Mounts should look as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-unmount /cache
-mount /data
-mount /sdcard (this sometimes says it is mounted-- not important)
-unmount /system (MOST IMPORTANT. IF IT DOES NOT READ AS THIS SAYS- THEN FIX THAT AND MOUNT IT BEFORE ANY BACKUPS OR WIPES. YOU WILL GET STUCK IN THE SCRIPT)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will see if I can host the file in my Dropbox. As for the help, it is available in many older posts already. But a hitting that thanks button couldn't hurt ;D

I would like to say thanks to you all helping out with this. My lack of signing in here has to do with me not even having an Android-powered device anymore.
