[Q] - General Questions and Answers

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the android phone and this forum. My phone is HTC Desire HD. I have two problems. Let me begin by giving some details about the phone.
1. I am running android 2.2.1, build 1.84.832.2
2. I bought this phone in China during my recent travels, but it is original, not Chinese.
3. The phone came already rooted: I see the Superuser application, and I can run applications that require rooting such as nobloat.apk; Titanium Backup and Root explorer.
4. Recently, the phone downloaded the android 2.3 update and signaled that I should update. When I accept the update prompt, the process hangs on a white triangle with a yellow exclamation sign, +the android robot in front.
5. If I manually try to update by pressing the volume(-) button and power button to get into the options for updating, the process will fail on signature verification.
6. I read some threads about changing the recovery 3e and that the recovery file is located in the system/bin folder. I looked in that folder and never found any recovery file, so using that method to solve the verification problem may be no good.
Please can someone help? I want to be able to update the phone. Thank you very much.

Hi all,
This is really not a reply. It is a call for help. I'm wondering where the experts are! I cannot update my phone. I badly need your help. Phone is HTC Desire HD. It was rooted before I bought it, in China. I am running root applications like Titanium and nobloat.
It downloads the OTA for Android 2.3. but the update process hangs on a white triangle and an exclamation sign. How to I manage to update? Thanks for your help.

You would get more help in the device-specific subforum .

HTC Magic failed to upgrade to 2.1 , doesn't boot.

Hello to all, this is my first post.
I'm quite desperate here.
I do common pc/iphone service.
A client brought to me an HTC Magic on which he had tried to upgrade to 2.1 without success, being able to boot only in recovery mode (pressing Home while booting).
Being a total noob on android stuff (I'm an iPhone expert/developer) I figured I should follow some process to restore the phone to factory , android 1.6 condition, and then try the known tools to root it / update to 2.1 from what I could find by googling.
So I installed the android sdk on my PC, and followed the google-io-device guide to try to restore to 1.6.
Right after I installed the radio update, the phone doesn't boot, it gets stuck on the 3-android-robots-on-skateboards screen (I guess its the boot logo) and the recovery method doesn't work.
So I'm asking for your expertise here.
Is there any simple (or simply followed) way to /at least/ boot the phone?
Thank you all in advance,

[Q] New to XDA, Samsung Vibrant SOC Root Oops??

Hello! Im new here and looking for some help... "Rooted" the T-Mobile USA Samsung Vibrant last night... Used SuperOneClick v2.3.2.0 -- the latest version... It gets to a point where the phone is rooted, Superuser access, I have Super Manager installed, the File Manager is rooted w/ R/W, Busybox is installed and now, per the tutorial here, step 4-5 says to "Shell Root" and wait for hte prompt to reboot the phone... I get to SuperOneClick and hit the button but it times out - the program (SoC) goes to (Not Responding) in Windows 7x64 and has to be shut down... it does this after it says rooting step #2... changing method or what have you. Now, ONE TIME and one time only it made it all the way on teh shell root to step #7 but still froze up... Happens with either the SD card mounted or unmounted, after reboots of the phone, etc etc... Nothing I seem to do works. The phone is stock Android 2.2 FROYO.UVKB5 and now Im stuck w/ a phone that is rooted, hooray, but wont "un-root" and wont proceed with my goal of wiping and installing CyanogenMod 7... Help anyone??

[Q] Not able to get recovery to work

Hello dear androids,
I was able to get a brand new HTC One S for a resonable price, but with T-mobile branding, but I got stuck trying to root it.
I unlocked the bootloader via HTCdev and tried to get a recovery running on my device using Hasoon2000s All-in-one Toolkit, but I was not able to achive a working recovery.
Everytime I klick on that button to copy the recovery, a cmd window pops up telling me copying in progress - but it never finishes. There is no conformation of success even after 20 minutes.
I own a HTC One S Z520e 99HRE105-00. CPU-Z says a S4 processor is build in. The software number on the device is 2.38.111.10 and I am able to update it to 3.16.111.7.
When I try to start the recovery, it shows me a phone and a circle with an arrow, later there is an triangle with an exclamation mark (see link for pic).

[Completed] [Q] Bootlooped Redmi Note 4G/LTE

Hey guys, I recently got a Redmi Note, and decided to root it, as I've seen many good things come out of rooted phones. I didn't have access to a computer at the time, so I used Kingroot to root the Note. (I can't read Chinese, so I can't really tell what it did.) And success, it was rooted. Soon, an OTA update came and I decided to download and install it. It booted up fine, but apps kept crashing (incl Kingroot) and I couldn't even get to the landing page/homescreen. I searched up the internet to try and load a fresh stock rom into it, cause I wanted to unroot the phone. (and still do) I tried using the Mi PC suite and load the stock rom into it, but it got stuck at sending userdata.img, and now I'm stuck at the Mi.com logo. (There's no powered by android sign at the bottom.) I've tried getting into recovery, but whenever I press vol down + power button, it takes me straight to fastboot.
TL;DR: I was an idiot and downloaded an OTA update onto my Redmi Note that was rooted via Kingroot running a stock rom. Tried to use Mi PC suite to load the stock rom onto it, but got stuck at userdata.img, and got it into a bootloop. Seek to unroot it and start afresh with a stock rom.

Hi there, I'd love to help but you did not specify what version of Android you were running prior to getting a bricked device. However a general method would by flashing the stock ROM of the phone via Odin(I'm assuming its a Samsung device). Search for "unlock bricked Samsung SCH-1535" using the search tool. As for the marshmallow UI, this can only be achieved if you've re rooted your device and unlocked your bootloader in other to be able to flash ROMs with marshmallow UI. Alternately you'll have to edit the build.prop file located in the /system folder in the root directory of the device in question. This procedure also will require a rooted device. You can search around for forums that describe how this can be done on your specific device. Goodluck mate:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
