I was using Odin to flash the pre-rooted ED1 image onto my phone, it got 95% done and then failed.
Now the phone doesn't go into download and doesn't do anything when I plug it in with battery or hit power, no detection on PC. Pretty sure it's dead.
So I'm just here for confirmation before I buy a new phone, is this a permabrick?

You might try this debricking service. Probably cheaper than a new phone if they can unbrick it.

Try re-installing the USB drivers and restarting your computer, everytime I fail an Odin, I just do that and works like a charm

That happened to me before and reinstalling worked, this time though the phone was totally dead and completely unresponsive to everything I tried. Tomorrow I'm sending it off to the repair site rj57 recommended, thanks for your help everyone

Hi guys I have a problem with my device I bought it soft bricked.
I'm able to get into dl mode I odined krylons stock rooted rom and it is FAILED so I put in sedys pit its now stuck in a recovery cycle I tried odining it like 5 times. It says something about can't mount mlbck01 then more stuff IDK can some one help me out with something that might get me out of this cycle please?
Edit: Odin was a success but its stuck in a recovery loop c'mon anyone?

Odin to kc1. make sure you follow the noobs guide to odin. Both are in the bible. Kc1 under odin roms and guides, well, under guides. Lol! Let the rom load for 10 min. Then Redo cwm orange from krylon's final cwm thread. And try flashing again. What rom are you trying to flash?

Definitely I was worried that I bought a piece of junk. I tried every rom and nothing worked until kc1 thanks alot plus if someone where to get failed on odin they should slap on sedy pit file to reformat.

if you use odin and it fails just try again a couple more times if it doesnt work unplug phone and take out battery put back in and hold volume down and power for about 5 to 6 seconds u should be in download mode wether or not you see the triangle...to see if ur in download mode open odin and plug in phone, odin again and this time it should work ( ive done this numerous times and it worked)

GUESS WHAT!!! I want everyone to try this out with a F*ed up IMEI.
I tripped over my laptop while on odin when it said please wait in the beginning.
I then plugged in my phone and the phone and computer with a triangle in the middle came on.
Like an idiot I odined it anyways booted up and my f*ing IMEI was gone.
I odined back and forth every damn rom I could think of and nothing solved the issue. Looked into hex editor and that sh*t was too confusing.
So I went to odin again and pulled it out at the please wait in the beginning.
Pulled battery restarted computer and the phone and computer with a triangle in the middle came on again.
I just odined it like that and VIOLA B*thes YAY! back online I was soo scared too right after fixing it.
Well this is just something to try out for everyone who ****ed up their imei
P.S. Back up your EFS PRONTO!
Think i really bricked it this time. Went back to stock then decided to root a few days after and now while connected to odin my screen just turned pixelated. Im stuck

If you can its as simple as redoing Odin. By pixelated you mean when you try to go into dl it does but is ilegible?

Yeah. It lets me in dl mode and just gets stuck on the factoryfs. Im using unbrick odin now. Hopefully it works. But the pixels are tiny and all over and diff colors

I had the same problem ages ago, accidentally yanked the cord when flashing back to stock and was met with a rainbow/black pixel screen and after using Gtg's odin encountered the failed factory.fs message.
Try THIS return to stock method instead. Once you get to the thread, find Question 4 in the FAQ section of the thread. (seems to address your issue)
IMO this method is easier to use and you can flash to a rooted+3e froyo.
Hope this helps...

Odin wont recognize dl mode anymore. Ran the other process and it finally went thru to the end. Said rebooting now but never did. Screen wont turn on except for dl mode. Tried unbrick and the all in one. I got no results

a few things I would try first
use a different PC.
Install to latest java
download adam's heimdall
run heimdall
get the drivers
put your phone in download mode (shut off, pull battery, press vol +/-, battery in, USB
if correct, heimdall should show connect
go to heimdall options
list device
samsung or android
run zadig
heimdall flash
if it goes back to recovery, second flash with bootloader checked and flash again
gl

Use a different USB port...it's kinda funny that way.
heimdall's open-source drivers use libusb. zadig will install libusb for only one usb port. This will be your heimdall port. The rest will retain the odin drivers. just use another usb port. Don't reinstall drivers.
The Heimdall One-Click will bring you back to stock. Our server is down right now so just wait if you're trying to download. I packaged GTG's back to stock as well as KH3(i think) into one-click format. It's at http://files.teamkomin.com then click the infuse4g folder and select a download.

Ok im in CwM Voodoo Lagfix Rev v3.0.2.8x
My mounts are correct
I go to Install from zip
Then Choose zip from sd card
Then I chose my rom
I get this error E:Cant mount /SDcard/Bionix_Frost_SGS4G.zip
Installatioin aborted.
I get this with anyone I try what am I missing here?
You sort of ran into the same problem as the guy in this thread yesterday.
To sum up that thread for you:
1. Download a Gingerbread rom. Here are sone samples:
Octane
Valhalla Final
KJ6 AOSP Style
2. Use the Gingerbread Starter Pack guide to flash it without any problems.

Yes been trying that Im here it says all threads complete but phone doesnt reboot to pull battery its just on the downloading screen still
4) Load up Odin, and load the KC1 files, DON'T TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS, leave them like they are even if Odin changes them!
- 4a) PIT: Sgs4g.pit
- 4b) PDA: pda.tar.md5
5) Flash and let the phone reboot. Once you see the T-Mo startup screen (the pink one), OR the CWM (red text) screen do a battery pull.
Try pulling the battery after Odin is done and see if it boots up.
Edit: oh and unplug it from the PC when its booting up

Im messing up here its not working right my first time using this odin and its not picking my phone up I just found a video on it and I see now so now I need to fix that some how and i should be ok.

Sounds like you don't have the USB drivers installed.

Well I got it started and really messed up the cord got bumped and now I think my phone is bricked all i see is a pic of a phone and a void and a pc like its telling me i unplugged it oh no.
I just fixed it back now tomorrow have to try odin again and be more careful

Dang got myself locked up again with odin it sticks at set partion left it for 45 mins gave up thank goodness for Heimdal one click Why cant i do this lol
Wish i could just flash from zip but keep getting that dang cant mount sdcard/rom name tried numerous sd cards reformat.

What version of ODIN are you using? Also, when usong ODIN make sure you don't mess with any of the checkboxes - just let ODIN decide what to check.
I'm not sure about the CWM error as I've not experienced that problem.

Weird that it keeps doing that. How did you manage to fix it the first time?
Dang 2 hours now im back up i guess i give up lol i held vol up and down cord plugged in then insert battery.

This method got my phone back this time but before i kept unplugging the phone from the cord and had 2 cords plugged into PC I kept switching back and forth then it recognized.Just messing around to see if i can find a way to get it to recognize in DL mode now and now it wont.

Hmm, if you've tried every usb port on your computer, try a different computer.
Maybe you got some funky usb host device on your computer that the phone just doesn't like.
I have tried I have a Windows 7 and an XP I get the same.I just picked up a new cable to see if that works and still the same.
hey everyone i was trying to install tweak stock and did the install with the 1/30 pbj kernel. i also fixed permissions with recovery. it would stay on the boot animation and now idid a battery pull and it wont turn on and when i tried to odin recovery it said failed. any ideas?

Try flashing with the battery in. Recently that is the only way I have gotten it to do anything on ODIN...

Cool, you should be good then and you're only soft bricked. Once you finish downloading the stock ROM go into Odin and put the phone into download mode. Put your battery back in like JihadSquad suggested, as he is correct, and remove your sd card. Also, download the charge .pit file. Put the stock ROM file in PDA and the charge.pit in pit. Check Re-Partition and uncheck F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot and you're ready to flash. You should be good to go from there. Hey Everyone i was trying to use Odin v1.7 to flash a new rom from the download mode and odin froze and my phone is stuck on this screen and i have no clue how to fix this someone please help me. it wont let me enter boot menus or anything just this one screen!!!
I believe that is still a form of download mode. You can probably try to connect back to Odin and flash again. You might try using a different USB port and/or cable since you had problems with the previous flash. You also might consider flashing back to stock and then trying the new firmware again. Good luck, let me know if it works.

Well i got it out of that screen and back into the download screen with the digging android logo but when i load odin it picks up my device instantly i go to pda click on the mod rom stock kernal and all just root and it wont go past Cache It Just Sits There Cache.rfs so now im stuck here lol.
I've had this happen myself. What worked for me was my wife's cable and a different USB port. Also make sure other brand phone drivers are un-installed. One last thing....in kies there is a place for reinstalling Samsung drivers. Hope at least some of this helps.
