[TUTORIAL] [BOOT SCREEN] How to change bootscreen in custom rom - HTC Desire S

I'm roaming around a few days, but couldn't find any link explaining exactly how to change the bootscreen in custom ROM in desire s like RunnyMede ROMs or other sense ROMs. So, here's how to change in the easiest way:
Requirements:
1. S-off
2. Rooted phone
3. Custom ROM (sense ROMs)
Procedure:
1. Download ES File Explorer. Install it. In the settings, you will find 'Root explorer' & 'Mount file system'.. Check in both the boxes. I mean enable them both. It may ask for superuser permission. Accept it.
2. Download any custom made bootscreen available here in XDA. [you will find them in .zip format. some are even flashable. don't download them.]
3. You can use two animations- one for boot start and another for shutdown.
4. Now rename one file as htc_bootanimation.zip [don't write Htc or HTC]
5. Rename the other one as htc_downanimation.zip
6. Now cut them both & paste them in yr root directory in /data/local [use ES explorer now to explore your root directory]
7. Overwrite the existing files
8. You are done. You will see in your next boot.

I knew that, anyways thanks man

never knew this and was tryin to flash th zip untill nw...wait i'll try..

got a prob...changed th boot anim but nw phone won't switch off...if i give power off it just switches off and then back on all by itself...

Yah I got the same prob too with my new own custom bootanimation... Looking for a solution too...
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium

do post here if u find it...thnx in advance...

Thank you!

Thanks man!

Something important
you all are welcome.
but remember, bootanimation location for different ROMs are different.
for example:
Runny based rom (proxuser's v1.5.1 or older) --> data/local
Sensation based rom (proxuser's latest roms) --> system/customization/resource

Problem solved
Sorry guys, I made a mistake. you should not use the same file as 'bootanimation' and 'downaniamtion'. If you use the same, when the phone starts shutting down, it cannot recognize it's been shutting down rather it restarts. so, here's the thing- you can use two different animations, one for phone start up and another for shut down walaaaaaaa....
[first post has been corrected]

Is it working for Cyanogen or only for Sense ROMs ?

I never used cyanogen Roms

[Q] How can I replace Trinity bootscreen?

Wondering if anyone can help...I love the Trinity kernel but I really don't like the splash screen and boot image it installs, and when I try to go into themes and select another boot sequence it doesnt override the Trinity one. Any ideas or help??
I am running MIUI with Trinity
Just a question but do you mean you download the boot animation and flash it through clockwork.

Download the bootanimation you want and drag the bootanimation.zip into /system/media. The splash screen i dont know how to change but i would also like to know...
using application such as Root Explorer
find or make an animation file (format ZIP) I can provide one
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7B5J2XBE
copy or paste it to /system/media , replace the old one , and set permission , i don't remember exactly what permission , but i am using 777
this is my current boot amination from cartoon "Neon Genesis Evangelion", of course you can find other ones you like, this is just for you to know it and comprehend it
remember , most important is SET PERMISSION
if you DO NOT set permission , you will be experience unstoppable reboot loop , you just keep rebooting ...only way to recover is using recovery to restore your backup or flash new ROM, maybe you can fix it via ADB in bootloader, but i don't know
any way , you better back your system up by recovery

be careful with MIUI , specially when you apply theme , if theme contains boot sound or boot animation , it may replace and overrun the default
there's also an app call ROM toolbox ( i have the paid app ) and there's many different options, one being the ability to change the boot animation ( with around 150 options ). i would definitely check it out.
sounds nice , but it will makes you feel more sense of fulfillment if you get it done by you own, don't you think
You can't lose the Trinity splash screen unless you compile the kernel yourself without it.

Flashing a custom boot animation + sound

I looked up how to do this and it's supposed to be fairly simple: copy over your bootanimation.zip on your phone and using a root explorer put it into system>media. The folder is there on my phone, but there is no previously existing bootanimation.zip. I put the file in there anyways thinking it might work, but of course it didn't.
I'm running ViperOneS 2.2.0, so I went in the venom tweaks, but if I try checking 'Custom boot animation' it just crashes ("unfortunately venom tweaks has stopped").
I also found this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637870&highlight=bootanimation+zip post and I tried using the described method but it didn't work.
Also, the way to change the power-on sound is supposedly also just as simple (system>sounds>poweron>PowerOn.mp3), but my system directory doesn't have a 'sounds' folder either.
**I went into system>customize>resource and replaced hTC_bootup_one.zip, bootanimation.zip, and _bootanimation.zip with my animation (one at a time, rebooting between each change) and still no luck - the boot screen just became the word ANDROID with an animated shine on it.
How in the world do I change the boot animation and boot sound for the HTC One S? Please help!

It could be in the custom folder. Just gotta look for it.
Go to bootanimation path on your Rom, and look if you applied permissions bootanimation is.
Perhaps not have applied and is not recognized, so it skips default Android bootanimation.
It is also possible that, animation isn´t correct or doesn´t have the speed in frames needed for this.
But this would make the black screen, and isn´t this case.
You can change this animation on desc.text in to your own bootanimation.
And sound is also in that route. sytem/customize/resources/android_audio.mp3
Replace it you want with the same format and name, and sound be posible at beginning of animation.
At least, in Sense 4 + has always been so ..
Do not forget to give permissions to this file also.
Hope you helped.
Or you could of course go to /system/customize/resource/ and change the name of bootanimation.zip to hTC_bootup_one.zip as thats the boot animation file. Also there is a down animation called hTC_downanimation.zip which can also be changed (when phone switches off). May i suggest instead of the long winded question you could have saved your keyboard some wear and tear by simply asking Google, and not being an arse its just Google should be everyones first step before creating new threads in wrong sections.

For boot sound you will take a mp3 file, rename it in HTC_Sense5_Boot.mp3 and put it in /system/ customize/ resource folder
This method work unfortunately on MaximusHD only....I tried with MagioRom 1.0.4 but don't work

This is true, but I found the way it sounds and does not have to be in MaximusHD.
Go to system / customize / CID / default.xml
Open this and reference the line where this makes ...
Code:
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/hTC_bootup_one.zip" audio="/system/customize/resource/HTC_Sense5_Boot.mp3" />
Changing these, for this one.
Code:
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/hTC_bootup_one.zip" audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" />
And save that.
Now we take audio file (bootsound) and rename it to android_audio.mp3 and copy in system/customize/resources/android_audio.mp3, applying the appropriate permissions.
Reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvick.
When starting again system will be playing the file selected by us.
I tried it on a 4.2.2 Rom that is neither sense5 MaximusHD or MagioRom. But this based on Stock Rom Sense5 too...and its running for me.
Interestingly also carries ElementalX kernel.

Good to know this.
You may also do it in downanimation, including the audio path to same file (default.xml). The form would be exactly the same. Never tried this, but it may also sound when turned off or rebooting.
Thank´s

I edited the default.xml on my Desire V (old, but good) and now i have boot sound. In fact, you can name the animations and sound file as you like, as long you edit the .xml accordingly.
Btw., i still don't have down animation on this phone, nor a down image. I'll work on it.

can you explain to me what is deodex ?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
Where to Download?
Downloads in the second Post
1-Ok my rom is deodexed now
2-I want themes or any thing for deodexed roms only
3- please don't say that each device need it's own theme (like custom rom) then there is no themes for pocket plus (like custom rom) then deodexing my rom is useless
Oh...bro flashing via CWM you need to go to mounts and storge then mount data and system ( i mounted every thing )
If you didn't do that it will give you an error

Bulldog data mode fix and notification fix

Hi guys,
First off all, thanks to all the devs out there helping us with our devices and doing their best.
In this post ill tell how to:-
GET DATA MODE WORKING ON BULLDOG ROM SM-N750
HOW TO FIX THE NEW NOTIFICATION BUG IN ANY ROM
1)DATA MODE ON BULLDOG
THINGS U NEED :- AROMA FILE BROWSER, UNIKAT ROM V4 ZIP
LINK FOR AROMA FILE BROWSER:-
Download this file :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
The above file is a file browser like thing but it allows you to modify system files, like copying system files, deleting files, recovering files from internal memory if you are facing bootloops
Open Unikat v4 zip in any zip manager and extract the following under /system in the zip :-
/system/bin
/system/cameradata
/system/container
/system/csc
/system/etc
/system/lib
AND AT LAST ALSO THE /system/framework folder but delete the following files from the extracted framework folder :-
framework-res.apk
framework.jar
framework2.jar
twframework-res.apk
twframework.jar
so that it doesnt overwrites the bulldog framework files
Now once u extracted all the folders, put it in your internal memory in a single folder
For eg:-
Under ur internal memory
/internal/files/bin
/internal/files/cameradata
like this just to keep all organized
Once all of this is done, reboot the phone into recovery mode (AS U HAVE INSTALLED A CUSTOM ROM U WILL ALREADY HAVE A CUSTOM RECOVERY I ASSUME) and select install zip from sdcard and select the aroma file browser it will open a files browser.
The from there go to the location (/sdcard) where you have your extracted folders and select the folders (bin, cameradata, container, csc, etc, lib) and copy them, and paste them ito /system and select "Overwrite all".
Once this is done, go back to recovery and wipe cache and dalivk cache.
Then reboot the phone. And there it is data mode working on N750 model on bulldog rom.
Basically what we did here, is we replaced the N750 compatible files in Unikat with those in the Bulldog
NEW NOTIFICATION BUG FIX:-
You need Xposed framework installed to get this working.
Download and install "Xuimod" and enable it from modules and reboot the phone.
Open xuimod and goto "Ticker Animation". Turn on the ticker animation.
It will ask for SU access, grant it and it will also ask you to restart systemui click on OK.
Under "Ticker Main Enter Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Exit Main Exit Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Ticker Switching Enter Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Ticker Switching Exit Animation" select "Slide in top"
Once this is done go down and click on "Test Ticker Animation", and look if it is solved
ENJOY.

Modern and Smooth Bootanimation

Hey Guys,
I made a Bootanimation for my HTC One M8, and I thought of sharing it with you.
It's in FullHD 30FPS, but it doesn't contain a Downanimation. If a lot of you guys like it, I can make one and publish it too though.
I will probably update it to add a custom sound when booting, at the moment it's still the normal one.
-----INSTALLATION----
To install, download the attached file. Now, open your Root browser of choice and go to system/customize/resource.
Here you will find a file called "hTC_bootup_one.zip". Rename it to something like "hTC_bootup_one_orig.zip" or something else to keep the original name in mind if you want to switch back.
Now copy the downloaded file from this post and paste it in the resource folder. That's it, the animation is installed.
-----ATTENTION----
I personally had some problems when showing the animation to my friends, because I soft rebooted my phone 4 to 5 times in a row. Then, after rebooting again, it turned off and nothing happended anymore.
I don't know why this happens, but if you have the same problem, just wait. After some time, the animation will show. This can take up to about ten seconds. If nothing happens, hold the Power and Volume Up Buttons to Hard Reset (It's just called reset, no data get's lost. It just forces your phone to shut down.) your phone. Hold them for about 5 seconds, the phone will vibrate and the HTC Splash Screen appears. Now release the Buttons, the Phone boots up normally.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE WHEN NORMALLY REBOOTING THE PHONE!
I hope you love the animation as much as I do, just download and watch it.
Hopefully, I managed to put a download Link down in the comments, XDA prevents me from putting a link in the post...

There is the download Link, this post is just to notify you[emoji6]
2nd Install Option
@Rainer Zufahl...
FYI, I successfully installed your boot animation a different way (which I think you may wanna think about adding to the OP)
I'm running Candy5 (Lollipop/CM12). I don't have a System/Customize folder, so here's what I did.
1. Using a file explorer, navigate to system/media and place "hTC_bootup_one.zip" file in there.
2. Rename original "bootanimation.zip" file to "bootanimation.bak"
3. Rename "hTC_bootup_one.zip" to "bootanimation.zip"
4. In properties of the new "bootanimation.zip" file, change permissions from rwxrwx to rw/r/r...save. Reboot. Enjoy.
This should help a lot of users having trouble installing.
Is there any kind of preview or something for this? Or should I just hope I like it ?

Due to the fact I'm not on Lollipop yet, I did not know about this way, but if it works, it's fine[emoji4]

Wow , this one will go in all my devices !!! And i think a quick downanimation would be nice to
permissions
If it doesn't show up as in the youtube link, then you will need to change the permissions of the file to rw/r/r
(it vworked for me...)
Anyone know how to slim down the size of the zip, at 21 meg root explorer won't let me paste it in the media folder ...it's for my n5
Is there a new download link, current one not working. Thanks in advance
Check the YouTube video on my channel, the link to it is in a previous post, to get the download link in the description. I still can't post any links in my posts, soo... Yeeah...
