look to be mt4G wannabes by LG..dont see any improvements at all, interesting..
When I saw pics of the back side of the new MT, it looked like it didn't even have a camera flash...
I have no idea why TMO wasted their time with this. They already have a good MT4G and MT4G Slide.
Go figure. Watch us get this and no Nexus Prime. Boy will I be pissed.
I don't think these are wannabes. They are the real deal. From what I heard, htc droppes the mytouch line and lg picked it up.
To me, its the end of a great phone.

Couldn't agree more. I wonder if it has anything to do with the eMMC chips failing on these phones. And T-mobile wants a different manufacture
wow now mytouch is gonna suck...
why tmobile why??
To many problems. LG bought the line. Because the success or lack there of to my belief of the g2x. Just seeing what they can do.

wow this is a pretty damn interesting move by tmobile, good thing im done with the mytouch line and now looking forward to the upcoming htc amaze or possibly even the new samsung nexus prime if that drops on tmobile lol
I must have got lucky because I have had zero problems with my phone. I even slammed it in the back hatch of my car right on the screen with the latch and all it did was rip the screen protector. I have been flash happy with it from day one changed the radio countless times. I test every ROM that I can find (some of them so bad I'm lucky it still works) and never one problem with the phone. I agree the new LG phones look kinda cheap I don't think they could take the beating I have done to this thing. I'm going to stay with HTC if a 4 year old a 2 year old and myself can't break this phone they did something very right.

+1 i've had my phone since February, have the bad chip and and good screen, have flashed roms and radios like a crack flasher and have had no problems..not to mention, my screen protector came off a month ago and still not a single scratch on the screen. Got to play with the amaze today while in a T-Mobile store. Its nothing that special. Build quality seemed nice and screen was good but overall wasn't too impressed. Ran quadrent side by side with my phone. The amaze got 2200 something while my mytouch did 2400 something without being over clocked. Although, the amaze did have about 12 megs down and 3 up which is nice. Sense 3.5 was kinda cool too but like I said nothing too spectacular.
One thing tho, it was fun showing the rep how I could hit 3400 on quadrant with fauxs kernel oc'd to 1904 MHz ( or whatever that setting is.

im almost 100% certain the htc amaze ships with sense 3.0, says so on their website...
and also keep in mind the amaze was 100% stock, and yours was modified, so imagine the potential of a phone with not only a faster processor, but dual core, and 256mb more ram, just saying...

What do you guys think about the LG optimus 2x it's doesn't have the build quality quite like our phone but almost every review said it runs blazing fast. Well except for engadget but the reviewer had adavance task killer on.... I think our phone is still be up there with others for a long time before dual core comes technically standard.

I don't trust Samsung had a vibrant. Also knowing T-Mobile will water down their other phones like the HTC pyramid since mytouch is their flagship device.

That may be true my contract is up in may and if it is I will be getting it been waiting for a 4.3 dual core beast from HTC. Even without hspa LG optimus 2x doesn't look bad. I can't wait until the Optimus 2x becomes available. I love the phone qualities! Its built nice, better camera and higher HD recording (which I care the most about). I'm not a fan of the Sense UI on it but its something I can get use to. Also battery life is suppose to be better. From the phones I saw at CES, T-Mobile only has a few added apps on the phone. Nothing was changed.
As far as the HTC Pyramid goes, we shall see.... I might be buying yet ANOTHER phone in a few more months if its better than the Optimus 2x. Long as T-Mobile doesn't mess it over.
Might wait till quadcore come out cause seems like dual core will be outdated within a year.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The Optimus 2X seems like it'll be a good phone, but the Pyramid is my current object of desire (pun intended). I just hope that T-Mobile doesn't brand it as a MyTouch phone and keeps the Desire HD-like aesthetics. Don't get me wrong, I love my MT4G. However, its form factor definitely could have been better.
As far as quad-core is concerned, once its released, octo-core will come out a year later. With cell phones, it's a perpetual game of catch-up. Remember the pace of PC technology in the mid-90s? It's deja vu all over again.

In build it feels sturdy. I felt the LG optimus 2x recently very light compared to the mytouch. My g2 is lighter than the mytouch which surprised me since the g2 has a keyboard. I think the g2 is the one that can take the most hits I dropped so many times. Thinking it will snap in two still hasn't. And it's been more that 3 feet I dropped the g2. No scratches or dings yet cause of the zagg full body cover and skin.

So there's a guy who will give me a new sealed G2X and $100 for my sensation now I had the g2x before and before it got the ota 2.3.3 but the only reason i would be reason I would be trading is for the pure speed of the g2x because let's be real our sensation is slow I mean I have full s-off and custom ROM with no sense and my quadrant still blows Mabey 1800 to 2100 how is that ? Please tell me thats not for long and its only because the roms suck right now on the sensation? So there you have it i love everything else about the sensation specs are better then the g2x but the speed will have you think otherwise Should i trade or wait?

I have the G2X and no it doesn't blow the Sensation out of the water. First off, before I removed Sense, the Sensation has always opened apps and interacted with apps faster than the G2X. It also loads Google Maps faster as you scroll through the map. Browsing has always been smoother while scrolling through the pages and the two games I play the most, run smoother on the Sensation. Really the only thing the G2X was faster at was the UI but now that I am using ADW with Sense removed, my Sensation us as fast as my G2X. If you want, I can show you a video of how fast my Sensation is.
I care more about real life experience rather than what some beanchmark is telling me. Quite frankly, I don't even believe most of these benchmarks as I don't think there using our asynchronous processor correctly.

Lol, take it from me. DO NOT GET THE G2x. Even Tmobile and LG are trying to wash their hands off it right now. If it does get an update or the so called update in few weeks, it will most likely be the last. I seriously doubt they will be able to fix ALL the problems. I'm definitely disappointed with the sensation 4g. It lags a lot in my opinion. While sense is a beautiful UI, it is just to heavy. I bought this phone off contract ( 549.99 Plus tax) thinking this would be it. The fast phone that I have been waiting for and I swore to myself to not buy another samsung phone but looks like I'm gonna get the Hercules or whatever galaxy s 2 is coming to tmobile. At the end of the day you have to see what's best for you. I honnestly do not care about the ahs display, its very nice don't get me wrong, but I rather have the wvga phone that is just smoother on a day to day basis. Iam almost certain that a lot of people are a bit disappointed with the sensation. The truth is it underwhelms. Come on 1.2 GHz dual core and it lags?
It lags? Haven't noticed it really. Been using Leedroid since day one (yesterday) and adw launcher.
The o2x is a disappointment like all lg phones. They should just stick to something they are good at like televisions.
On paper it's great but software is trash.

I previously had a Vibrant, and loved it. Unfortunately I had a pretty intense water accident with it (sat in a jacuzzi for 10 min before realizing it was in my pocket). I am eligible for an upgrade and am torn on phones. I have to get a phone by the 25th, so I can't wait for the Hercules, so I'm wondering, should I even bother with the SGS4G? By bother, I mean is it worth it to get, its almost six months old and I know that its not running on much different hardware than the vibrant (which is one reason I'm so attracted to it) but I want a beast, not a puppy when it compares to other phones in good old performance. Haha I realize now that "bother" wasn't quite the right word. I guess the better phrase is, is it worth it to get over the other new powerhouses?

I played with the sensation at the store and I liked it alot but I couldnt tell a whole lot of difference. But hardware wise the sensation has the high ground and it has sense 3.0 which I like alot. I,love my sgs4g but I personally like the sensation more. If only the new sgs4gs had 2.3.4 and tw4.5 or something new then it would be a beast.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
G2x is a solid phone, if it didnt have all the issues it would probably top the sensation. I like the g2x, stock android and very very fast! Sensation is an excellent phone as well, reminded me too much of my nexus one though.
You can't really go wrong with either one (IF you get a good g2x without problems) slim chance it seems to be. Battery life on g2x wasnt great barely 6-8 hours or so, sensation is alittle better though. Galaxy s 4g is nice, no issues running kg4 and probably getting around 2 days plus on one charge.
May want to consider a nexus s as well if you are looking at this phone. Personally I would try to hold off for another month or so, new nexus may roll out, the sgs2 or whatever itll be called? If you must choose now, pick up a cheap galaxy s4g off craigslist.
Sgs4g is great but either the sensation or g2x is def a better choice. Better dev communities and better phones period.. dual core ftw. Hercules is a phone to end all phones though.. why can't u wait??
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Not sure about G2x, but the SG4G is way better than Sensation 4G
Sensation got a good screen, but, the battery life sux. Also the call quality is not good as SG4G. Low ring ton volume is disappointing also. Audio quality (headphone) of SG4G (with voodoo) is 100 times better than Sensation.
Why not just get a phone like the Sensation on the 24th of this month and if the Hercules comes out before your 14 day return period then just swap it out for the Hercules.
But if you live in the wonderful state of California, then you get 30 days to swap it out.
You guys are all looking at software issues. Hardware wise, the other phones are newer...so of course the others will be faster, have more memory, etc. most, if not all, the issues will probably be addressed by the community. I have no complaints about this phone, but do your research on the development of the others.

Hercules has the qualcomm snapdragon dual core, when compared to the exynos on my sgs2, it feels like comparing a core i5 to a pentium dual core. But the screen size is a plus, but it will probably kill the battery really quickly.

Or you could just keep the Sensation. The Hercules is not that much of an upgrade anyways, unless you're dying for an AMOLED+ screen.
They have the same processor. Plus, if you're into modding, the Sensation is very close to a full working build of CM7. So you can only imagine how fast that will be. And it's a qHD screen while the Hercules is not.
I think I need to research the qHD screen. It didn't look very impressive to me, but I only used the phone for 2 minutes or so. The thing is, I LOVED the super AMOLED on the vibrant.

IMO the sensation really isn't anything special. The screen on it sucks and its not that fast for it being a dual core phone. I played with the epic touch gs2 yesterday....and now that's a phone to drool over. That right now is the only phone out that's worth an upgrade from the mt4g. Again this is just my opinion.

I've heard some bad things about the Sensation, but I think the sluggish speed is caused by the async Snapdragon that Qualcomm made. Both CPUs won't be on unless they're both needed and I'm guessing that doesn't work really good in Gingerbread, so perhaps on 1 core is active. When the Exynos or Tegra 2 the cores are both on all the time, so they should be faster, although they still clock up and down as normal. The screen in lacking, but it's no S/Amoled or IPS or Retina. HTC doesn't really produce nicer screens like the competition, they use S-LCD or LCD in their phones, not sure if they have any other tech ATM.
Well, I can agree on this. I've never been a fan of MyTouch models, but T-Mo forced me. I've been from a T-Mo G1 (Dream), to a T-Mo G2 (Desire Z), then to a samsung Galaxy S 4g and when it got stolen, the assurant would only leave me with a MyTouch 4g. Really can't compare the screen, but hey, I'm more than pleased. I'm quite impressed this phone doesn't have that much of a great feedback from T-Mo. :/ Oh well.
Yeah I've had a bunch, came from an epic and I have to say this phone is good stock. Unity is boss though. Omfg.
Edit: one other thing... This community is so chilled and friendly compared to the previous ones I have been a part of. Thank you people...

Do you wish you had your SGS4G still, or you happier with this one?

Totally happier with this one. SGS4G relied TOO MUCH on the screen~ and it was just annoying sometimes. I got used to physical buttons because of my last phones, so I felt like using an iPhone not an Android. And besides, the SGS4G's front facing camera was just sad.

You didn't like the ROM's for the Galaxy? I would think their FFC quality would be better than the MT4G's.

DhD, TB, and MT4G is last 2GS single core proc of HTC and with even DDR1 768MB we are set for long time. Keep in mind with custom mod hack (script, tweak, rom, kernel) if you know what you doing your set now until we have need for dual core.

Sorry was it hard for you to comprehend?
DhD = Desire HD (GSM)
TB = Thunderbolt (CDMA)
2GS = Second Generation Spandragon
So technically Inspire HD (GSM-US) is equivalent of Desire HD (GSM-EU). Since we real pro die hard SmartPhone user know HTC owns Moto and SamSUX, so that's another subject of its own.
Now the point I was making is as you being home user you yourself do not need or dual core mCPU yet. So MT4G is same spec as Thunderbolt (yes I'm aware of the screen and nand diff). Thus last of its kind not failed attempt to upgrade us to dual core when Android framework so far utilizing only cpu0 as cpu1 thread is most not used as OS and App is not using it yet.

Yeah I'm skipping dual cores then just gonna go for quads or whatever is out in Fall next year.

Most likely, never had the chance to check. The phone got stolen a month after bought so I could barely play around with it. It's not usual of me to root a phone the same day I get it; I stay with root for a few days, and in this case, a month. Now with the MT4G, no way I was gonna stay with stock for a month, no way. |: hahaha.
Hi guys, I've move to the Sensation its nice and all,but mytouch4G seems better and faster to be honest I miss my mytouch4G its a great phone. I'm thinking of selling this Sensation and get HTC Amazed or SGII. But I love Sense but the speakers in HTC sux, gonna be a hard decision.

I'm new to smartphones, got the MT4G in Feb and love it. I just rooted last month and put Virtuous Unity(2.3.5 and V9 unity kernal) on it and it outperformed the Sensation in quadrant and just "feels" better.
The MT4G forums here are great! Even this old man has learned alot.
This is my first smartphone. Rooted and S off the first week. Been impressed eversince. My girl got a g2x it seems sluggish compared to mt4g. Battery life is much better also.

This thread might seem unnecessary but I'm making it anyway.
I recently acquired a sensation and it had the touchscreen lockup issue that had to be solved by returning it to HTC. Ofcoursre HTC had to be a **** and charge me 160 to fix the ****ty phone saying warranty seal was broken. So simple. I went with it. Haven't gotten it back yet.
Whatever the point is this mytouch 4g has served me the longest without any issues whatsoever for the past 6 months. I dropped this phone on the subway six times now without any noticeable damage and I don't use a case. The build quality is exceptional and I can't thank HTC enough to design the metal ring around the screen.
I'm grateful to this community and HTC. But this sensation will be the last HTC I own. And this mytouch 4g, I'm never gonna sell it. Ever. Its the best phone I ever had. People who has problems usually speak up like this so I thought this would be a nice addition.

I adore my MyTouch 4g. This is my first Android phone and I've compared to many other models that I have seen and continue to. I have to say that I have yet to find another phone that I would hands down say is superior. The cpu is amazing. The amount of RAM is more than I have ever needed. The size of the phone is perfect for me. And development has been phenomenal.
Are the front and rear cameras off center? You bet. Does that affect their operation or in any way slow this beast down? Nope.
