[Q] 4g searching - Verizon Droid Charge

so i live in an area that has some 4g coverage and while driving around town or sitting at work (which has spotty signaling because of the building) my phone is constantly searching for 4g. is there way to turn that off and just use 3g until 4g is turned on everywhere? i think it is causing some major battery drainage. thanks!

Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > System Selection
Choose CMDA/Auto

Antenna for my trinity

Hi all
Looking for an external antenna for my trinity when i go into my office i lose the signal so i am looking for something to screw into the external point on the back
Any help?
Thanks
Robert
Just a thought: I have low signal when I am on 3G. If you do not use 3G check the following setting:
Go to start > settings > phone > band
Set "Network" to GSM instead of auto/WCDMA.
If you get an error first disconnect your gprs connection and retry above.
In my experience I receive a far more better signal with these settings.
hi,
you can use one of this item (or similar) in this page, if this works in car, it works anywere!!!

Same for me (here in Italy)...

Disabling roaming overall.

I just got a new FUZE and I'm already annoyed with an issue I'm having:
Halfway on the way home my phone kicks over to my neighbors to the north - Robbers Wireless. I live fairly close to the Canadian border and my FUZE seems to like Robbers more than it does the Deathstar, leading to roaming charges up the... you know.
Is there any way of disabling roaming of any kind, be it voice or data, preferably automatically? People suggest NoData.cab, but that is no good to me - I'll not notice myself hit the Rogers towers until the last second - hitting Home and seeing "Rogers Wireless" in my upper left corner. My phone never alerted me to data roaming yet it kept a data connection open the entire drive home and hopped to Rogers.
I kept trying to select networks from Start > Settings > Phone but it kept locking onto Rogers and didn't offer me a choice of AT&T at all.
Have you tried choosing your network manually instead of automatic?

Doesn't give me a choice if I'm looking where I should be.
Start > Settings > Phone > Network shows only 2 things:
"Current Network: AT&T"
and a [Find Network] button. No network selection or anything was offered to me.
Call AT&T and tell them to disable international roaming.

You can turn data on and off. There is actually an HTC widget that toggles data on and off.
Go to the market there is an app that you can use to toggle on stock rom. Just search 3G.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
try *#*#4636#*#*
any1 have a shortcut or app for it?
Just uncheck "Mobile Network" under Wireless and Network in Settings.
I'm pretty sure my 3g/4g has yet to be turned on lol

I found a way to turn off 3g/4g and have Edge enabled by going to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > here you can toggle from WCDMA Only; GSM Only; GSM/WCDMA Auto (default). Selecting GSM Only switching my connection to Edge. How can we create a shortcut/toggle for this option?

There is no such option on the Inspire 4g.
*#*#4636#*#* is the option. Dial it. Go to phone. Scroll down. Select gsm only.

Does it really work ?
Yes. I use it to keep mine on gsm. I also used the stock widget to keep data turned off
Turning off 4G speed is easy. Turn on the phone, it doesn't exist
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Sent from Desire HD or Inspire 4G or whatever this thing is called via premium XDA app.
good one
in cm7 theres a widget where you can turn off 3g and switch to 2g, is included in the power settings widget, any chance on getting it while using sense?

See my post a couple of posts above

Using: *#*#4636#*#*
Then selecting GSM does not work for me..still reverts back to 3G "H+)
Any other suggestions? Do I have to root to get access to all the grayed out network options?
Thanks

[Q] No 3G on Latest Miui

Hi all,
I'm new to the Nexus S 4G root scene. I just flashed Miui yesterday, and I am getting no 3G. I couldn't find anyone else that was having this issue.
Everything else works, and I get 1x data, but not 3G. It's not the location because stock gets me full 3G service in the same location.
I flashed this kernel: http://www.peteralfonso.com/2011/08/download-nexus-s-263514-kernel.html?spref=tw
but it didn't fix anything.
Thanks for your help
Edit: After going out with my phone, I realized I do in fact have 3G reception, but it's very poor and constantly switches between 3G and 1x. I normally have very good reception with stock Android in my area. It doesn't stay connected to 3G for more than a few seconds at a time and switches back and forth between 3G and 1x
Have you set up the phone to use 3G at all?
Go to Settings, and find Mobile Network settings, and there should be one box that says something like 2g only.
You probably know what to do from there on.

Under "Mobile Network Settings" there is no option for that. Only "Data Enabled" which is turned to "on"

Maybe I'm just being dumb, but it's not there.
Settings > System > Mobile Network Settings
there are 4 choices:
Data Enabled (on), Always receive MMS (on), Data roaming (off), and System Select (automatic)

1. menu > settings > mobile network > network mode > GSM or GSM/WCDMA
2. turn mobile data on or off
too many steps
I am asking for a widget to do the both settings with one click.
Just one click on the home screen to toggle between:
a) GSM/WCDMA with mobile network on
b) only GSM with mobile network off
very simple

I'm using HTC Sense widget:
Menu > Personalize > Widget > Settings >Mobile Network
Not sure if it toggle between GSM and WCDMA but it sure switch on/off data.
Try "Widgetsoid" from Market. Its pretty customisable.
Maybe it would be impossible to do what u want in 1 click (or would be possible - try it), but iam sure in 2 widget clicks u will get it.
Hi,
I am using Quicker Free from the Play Store - it docks in the notifcation bar and enables you to turn on/off 3G Data from pretty anywhere and lets you stay within the app you have currently opened. Plus it has controls and status widgets for almost anything you want to see / change on your phone.
