So this is the Avabox. original title i know
I put this to together back with the hero during some hard forums times in order to push further development with customizations. and it worked.
so here it is for the Evo devs. I set it up for windows but of course perl scripts run in linux so its universal. But if you want to learn/work on some customizations for the evo but you dont wanna dual boot linux or w/e here is something for you.
im hoping to see some good things soon any issues with this just comment or pm. good luck.

its a compilation of scripts for windows to cook a rom and create/modify/extract/compile/unzip/deodex/sign/everything android 1.5 and up.
works with linux too.

Good timing. I'm here trying to remove yxplayer's trial / 2min time limit. Managed to decompile, edited smali files, recompile, sign. So far so good, worked as expected (re-mapping various functions to different buttons). Now gotta hunt down the code which actually triggers that 2min play limit, and with some luck, maybe the whole validate-the-serial-number routine
PS: was using only APKTool & Auto-Sign. Will check out the tools in Avabox and see if they will be useful.

Could a complete nub download this and make a ROM? I've been interested in getting into development, but I have no clue where to start. I catch onto things quickly, and I'm willing to learn. I just don't know where to begin.

What apk are you trying to deodex? Are you using the right BOOTCLASSPATH?

I'm a noob, so please forgive me. I am not sure about the BOOTCLASSPATH. I am trying to deodex htcmailwidgets.apk. I know there are already deodexed ones out there, but I wanted to deodex the one from the legend (it has a couple of options for the widget which are not able to be done with the standard mail widget) to use on my hero without changing to the Legend ROM. Hope that makes sense.

I haven't used Avabox yet. I hope this helps until I can play around with this tonight.

That is a fairly old version of smali/baksmali. You really should either use smali/baksmali directly, or at least find a tool/script that has/uses an up to date version

I may have completely misread the OP, and forgive me if I did, but aren't there supposed to perl scripts in the package that would allow me to use this in Linux? I am not seeing anything but .exe and .bat files. I dont use Windows, and wouldnt trust wine to do development work. Is there another version of this floating around I can use?

Edit2: NM. I finally opened my eyes and found the perl scripts in Boot Scripts. The above code repo is the updated version of Smali.

Looking to unpack the data.img files that are created when you do a backup of your phone. Not seeing that this will work - do you have ideas on how?

1. Rename the original Swype400x800WVGA2.15.56.14870.apk to zip and open. Let's call that file 1.
2. Rename the Swype.apk extracted from MTel to zip and open. Let's call that file 2.
3. Copy these files from folder assets\files from 1 to same folder in 2:

Bulgarian-LS-Cyrillic.zkb.le
Bulgarian-PT-Cyrillic.zkb.le
Bulgarian.htm
Bulgarian.zdb.le
Edit-LS-Cyrillic.zkb.le

license.dat​4. Extract these two files from folder assets\files from 2:
languages.lst
helplanguages.lst​5. Edit both files in Notepad - add ",Bulgarian" at the end.
6. Put both files back in 2.
7. Copy from 1 from folder assets\keybords all 10 Bulgarian* files to same folder in 2.
8. Delete the META-INF folder
9. Rename 2 to apk.

Working in HTC Desire. Not tested completely - might have other issues. Known issue: couldn't display Bulgarian help.

swype.apk extracted from mtel is not posted. You should be able to use any Swype that already has Bulgarian.
AFAIK, it will not work when Swype is preinstalled.

Ok i am still little confused.Can`t i just try one of those files in your links to install it on my phone, since they already include bulgarian keyboard.I have only the beta version of swype witch include only seven languages and no bulgarian support.

Both links point to same apk. This apk is based on the latest Swype beta 2.15.56.14870. Note that posted apk is for WVGA resolution 400x800.

It works flawlessly! 10x
PS. A little problem, when i try to change language with Swype button - Force Close appear.

Just a note, there's a newer version of Swype available via beta and certain "channels" you might want to update your release. Hopefully you'll keep supporting it in the future!

AFAIK, 2.15.56.14870 is the latest official beta. There are other releases that appear online like 2.44*, 2.6* or even 3* but I am not certain they are compatible - I think they are for other devices like Samsung.

I already considered eliminating the other languages and leaving only EN and BG. I intend to do it soon.

Works for me, but is there a chance to BDS (Bulgarian standard) layout, because currently is only phonetic layout.

Can you provide any guidance as to how I could add my location? I found threads about addig locations to the older sense versions, but they do not seem to apply to 3.0.

it is based on desire hd.. system/customize/ is not changed, it may show you own "desire hd" phone

ok you need java SE installed on your pc. http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/ get the latest version of apktool, pull your rom's com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk (they besides in /system/framework/) and hook them with "apktool if ..." then "apktool d HtcWeather3DWidget.apk" will "de-compile" everything in folder named "HtcWeather3DWidget", edit what you need and re-build it with "apktool b ..", re-sign (a not so bad howto how to do it: http://androidforums.com/developer-101/8665-how-signing-roms.html) and push to your phone.

both mdj's v21 and latest lee's kernel supports 2way call recording, you have to install the latest skvalex' call recorder apk (have a look here).

So it is safe to flash a different kernel on this ?
Only issue I've found so far is 2 things ..
Local for English (United States) - fixed using MoreLocale2
GPS conf was set to Asia - fixed using FasterFix (needed North-America)
Other than that .. VERY NICE

Grabbed "TB-Kernel-MDJ-V21-26may" .. flashing now.
Installed SetCPU .. set @ 1516 max 768 min - OnDemand .. now let see how this runs

FYI, I still had the "tinny" audio issue on my Inspire. Original audio fix cleared it up though.
It's real strange. Every Desire HD based rom has given me the audio issue when it is supposed to be built in. I'm wondering if it is something to do with my phone.

After flashing the zip i provide you before,delete "AudioEffects.apk" from system/app..it should be enough...(the zip restored the stock sony lib)

i installed the new mod.personally i like it more than max audio effects.low and mid frequencies are stronger but i think it has more distortion generally using headphones and speaker. I prefer the sound of xperia zero its far way better than max audio and this new mod.can you port sony's effects and sony;s sound engine from xperia zero to emuml superleggera?this would be the ideal i think.

By the way arcatarc how superleggera version of xperia zerio is going? when are you going to release it?hope it has very few apps .normal version had more than 270 system apps.if superleggera could be limited to 70-80 it would be amazing......

I know an application called apk editor which simply edits res folder of the applications...
Now I would like to find a simple way to edit assets folder , in the application file.
Could anybody help me , please?

Try using Apktool, it's much easier to modify apks.

problem solved....
But I like to hear your answers...

The solution is to extract files directly from (apk or zip) file and mix with decrypted file
then uninstall last version of the app on the phone.
Install the new one....

Could some one just extract files from apk, change the files and then rename the file to zip and sign the file?
Could it be that easy?
