I need help. ** PROBLEM SOLVED** - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Im on Valhallah 1.1 and I linked every app I could to my to my external SDcards ext4 partition including the Link2SD App.
After I rebooted almost every app I linked disappeared including Link2SD and MARKET app.
I've tried battery pull/reboot. Nothing. I tried downliading Link2SD through android market on my Browser but it says it is already installed.
Does anyone know how I can fix this BIG Problem??
Thanks

Did you do a factory reset? That might be the reason why your apps are disappearing.
After wiping, you can restore your data through CWM.
That's a known issue with KH2, which is what 1.1 was based off of. I always wipe my phone after every install now for safe keeping though.

No. But I will. To restore data do I have to flash Bali 3.3 - restore Data and then flash KG4 Kernel?

I miss read your reply. I dont have the disappearing app issue. I did factory restore when I flashed the ROM weeks ago. Everything has been perfect.
My issue is the result of using Link2SD to link my apps. The only apps that Im missing are the ones I linked to my external SDcard. Which included Market app and Link2sd. I have no Market now and cant access Link2sd to swap them back.
I was wondering if an advaced data restore is the same process of restoring nandroid backup?

Thanks bkoon. That worked. My backup was a couple of days old but I'm good.
Pardon all the questions I'm at work and was bugging out (80's slang lol) cause my phone was a mess.
Thank you for your quick reply!

hmmm, i think it does automagically. I have restored my apps 2-3 times and I did not have to do anything special.

Rather than making a new thread I'll post in here.
I was flashing some roms and backed up my apps at the wrong time in turn losing a lot of saved points in games and app settings. Can I just go back into one of my recent nandroid backups and copy the titanium backup files somewhere to replace the ones I don't want in my current rom? If so which ones?
The files your after are in the Titanium backup folder.

Lol this is obvious but which files do I need? There are several options in the nandroid folder like system, recovery, cache etc but their all img files? Again, I only have the files in my nandroid backup. My Titanium is setup to replace old files when a new backup is performed..
Thanks for any help in advance..

TB saves its stuff on the SD card, which is untouched by the usual Data/Cache/Dalvik wipes for a new ROM. Your most recent backups should be present no matter what.

OK lemme give some more info to help. I just got finished flashing my GB rom to replace my FR with all my settings widgets etc.. Once I had all the apps re-downloaded and thought I was ready to use titanium backup to restore all of my app data I accidentally did a backup instead, in turn REPLACING all of my original settings, saved games etc with just new games and all default bs..
So now, my ONLY option is to restore a backup I had previously when all my settings and games were where I liked them and then do another titanium backup to replace the new stuff. THEN, I have to restore my current GB nandroid to get back to my current ROM and then use titanium to restore my old stuff. The issue is finding which part of the titanium file I need from my Froyo backup to replace my GB backup.. Does that make sense lol?
I think I may figure it out but its trial and error.. I'll report back when and if I get it, just kinda sucks trying to do all this with root explorer and flashing everything over and over while at work..
If I'm doing this wrong please tell me but I am not seeing the easy way out in all of this..
You've got it right, do it just like that. Backing up / restoring Nandroids doesn't affect the SD card, but if you're paranoid you can unmount it. Restore nandroid, backup with TB, restore other nandroid, restore TB.

App sync after root and wipe

I just unlocked, rooted, and installed Tiamat on my friends Xoom but after signing into his Google account, none of his apps are repopulating. Any ideas on why this happened or how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
If you wipe user data/factory reset inside CWM you won't be able to install apps to the data partition. There is a bug, the partitions on the xoom are different then other devices.
Interesting, I just did the same exact steps on my Xoom last week and all of my apps repopulated just fine.

TB won't restore large apps...

Titanium Backup won't restore apps with large file sizes from my CWM backup. I forgot to take a batch backup before I installed the CMX rom by Bruce. TB restores some apps, but when it's going to restore a large app (like Temple Run or Riptide GP), The progressbar freezes. It won't go any further. I've tried to let it work for itself for about 1 hour, but the app just keeps restoring the same app it was restoring when I left the phone... Does anybody have any suggestions?
Could be your backup file is corrupt.

It has happened with my last 5 backups, too, so I think the problem lies in the app ..
Hmmm....yess.....what you say could be right.

Yep same thing here. Backed up Aralon HD, it backed up fine. But upon trying to restore it, it just says "restoring blah blah".. Forever. Also waited for around an hour like yourself, but nothing.

One method I've found that can work with some smaller apps is... after attempting to restore, clean the Dalvik... and then open Lucky Patcher, which removes any strays upon opening, automatically.
After this I've found they will install. But no luck doing this with apps that contain a large amount of data.

I found that in my case choosing the interactive install in tb showed me where the problem was, apperantly (don't know if it was tb or 4ext) there was a folder consuming an upwards of 500mb of data on my internal partition called ._cwm_restore I'm sure its not the same thing happening to everyone but its one thing that has a happened to me

Anyone else a perfectionist?

...when it comes to their rom flashes.
What I mean is does anyone else seem to do a whole wipe of their phones, including internal memory and SD card?(making necessary backups first) Then after doing so, flash the rom of their choosing and install some apps one by one making sure not to get any FCs or bad freezes?
It seems as though for my case, I am very selective/picky about my flashing & installing apps that if something goes wrong I need to reflash just to make the "perfect" phone.
Am I alone?

I don't know if your alone but I like to keep it dirty. At best I wipe internal data. All seems to work pretty well. Also I don't get how backing up your sd card then formatting it and then restoring it helps any. Since all the files will be the same then it won't have any negative or positive effects to what you're running

Well I don't keep every file or folder from my backups. I keep the data folder for TiBu for restoring my settings quickly. Sometimes I feel a cleaner slate is better. Mostly I'm just getting annoyed I've had 2 random freezes while rebooting and had to battery pull and when I restart the phone the date turns to Dec. 2006.... and I'm doing whatever I can to learn how to prevent that annoying ________(whatever it is).
I try and flash on a clean slate to make sure I get as few errors as possible, but it seems as though the harder I try to make things perfect something has got karma against me screwing me up one way or another.
Nope! Too much work. i do just the basic flash/wipe and flash and enjoy
Well I use my internal SD for all my ROMs and my external SD Card has my music and photos. I keep both of the SD cards organized. When flashing I always wipe data, cache, and dalvik twice before flashing. Dirty flashing is something I don't want to deal with. xD

I'm one of them but I don't restore anything from SD. I start from a clean slate. I d/l absolutely needed apps (maps, gtasks, voice) and as the days go by and I need something I d/l at that time. I've never had any issues on any rom (GB, ICS, JB) other than the ones outlines by the OP.
I'm the same as OP.. however I do seem to have some OCD. That may be it.....

I wipe everything when switching ROMs. I don't like restoring apps from backup, either. I just re-install my apps one by one from the Play Store. And if I lost progress in a game or something, then too bad for me, at least my phone is "clean."

Lost data, need your input -

d2vzw running Liquid Smooth 2.10 with BMS kernel, not sure what happened but while i was setting up rom, i lost information on /mnt/sdcard/android/data/com.banana.threenotes (catch notes data, such as images).
The ****ty part is, it's on the internal storage, so i've tried some restoring methods and i've gotten nothing. Also, i've renamed the .nomedia file so that way media can be read (.nomedia is in the android folder).
Let me know if you guys\gals have any ideas. thank you in advanced-

How will a factory reset or reflashing a ROM help recover data on the /mnt/sdcard/android folder?
I've already restored to my backup and it ain't there.

can't say that helped. The files are gone permanently. This is the data of catch notes, which was discontinued (sync services) but it still worked on local storage, it saved it on /mnt/sdcard/android/data , i lost it in transition (the only thing i lost) of going from LS 3.0 beta to LS 2.10 (which is still 4.3) , i'm looking for ways to run data recovery on internal memory -

I'd say it's gone, a nandroid won't restore anything on your internal storage. Even if restore a perfect backup nothing will come back.
I would try using a file manager and navigating to the folder and checking manually where it could have gone from there, but something probably got corrupted.
