[Q] Questions about mount points and external SD cards - T-Mobile LG G2x

I posted this in another thread ... and realized it really shouldn't be there, but it should be in this forum, so sorry for the double post.
I modified my vold.fstab to mount my external SD card as internal. That did work (sort of) ... the phone see's my 16 GIG SD card as the internal "SD card", (but no more USB and the 5 GIG internal is now missing altogether, so I have the 1.5 GIG emmc and my 16 GIG ) I can live with that, but when I use Apps-2-SD program, it does not move the apps to my 16 GIG card, it says that it did, but the apps are still sitting on the phone's emmc. I have to manually move the apps via root explorer to my 16 GIG card. So something is still not correct, because apps-2-sd is not doing it. What could be causing this ?
One of the biggest blunders of all time was when LG decided to only allow their tiny 5 GIG internal "sdcard" to be the main / first mount point. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ???
If anyone has any more thoughts or ideas about mounting external's as internal's, PLEASE speak up
Currently this is what the phone is reporting:
ROM: MIUI-109300
Kernel: Cyanogenmod-2.6.32.45
Storage: Internal - 1.50 / SD Card 16 GIG
This is my current vold.fstab
# Internal SD card
dev_mount emmc /mnt/sdcard/_InternalSD 9 /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.3/mmc_host/mmc2
# External SD card
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
.

Has anyone tried this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158377 ??
Please post your results.

Quick Question About Internal/external memory

I currently don't have a SD card but will be buying one. Will I be able to use the G2x's internal memory (5 gigs) along with the external SD card? So for example, will I be able to store music on the internal memory AND the external sd card?
Yes, you don't have to use one OR the other. They can both work in conjunction with the other.
external storage is mounted on /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard while internal storage is mounted on /mnt/emmc by cm7 default. dunno if stock does the same

[Q] I Have A Problem

Hello, my name is david and i'm new in android user i recently buy an android tablet: Asus Memo pad h7 i buyed a sd card of 32 go but i searched to install all internal memory to sd card.
i found the way i want in mount2sd app, but there is a problem now i have the internal memory of 27go (1500 mo fat32 partition and other in ext3 partition).
and my external card is 1500 mo, but where is my 16 go internal memory?, i thinked there is be swapped like my internal memory is 32 mo and external memory 16 go but no....
i searched so i want to have it in my parameter swap the 1500 mo with the 16 go internal memory.
i looked in Diskinfo where is my lost 16 go and it say: Internal Storage (MMC) usrdata mmcblkOp7 12,1 GB not mounted,
Mount point: None,
Partition Name: mmcblkOp7
, Partition Label: usrdata,
Partition number: 7,
Partition Type: SD/MMC card
Device: Internal Storagemmcblk0),
Device Type: Mmc,
CSD: d02701320f5903ffffffffef8a4040d3,
CID: 90014a48414732650401008ffa9140eb,
FW rev: 0x0,
HW rev: 0x0,
Manf.ID: 0x000090,
OEM ID: 0x014a,
Device manf.date: 04/1997,
Serial Number: 0x008ffa91,
Dev.name: HAG2e.
and i found where it is stored in system its in /data.
i installed the Rom build: SuperDragonPT_v1.1_R2 release-keys it work fine!
so my quéstion is: is there an app or think for mount my mmcblkOp7 partition in the place of the external card of 1,5 go or mount it and make her enabled in parameter stockage in external card storage with my 32 go internal storage?
i looked in lot of forums or in google but don't find who to do that... i tryed to change the vold.fstab folder i see it can swap external and internal storage but the only think it done for me it hidden my external storage make it gray and not mounted... because in my vold.fstab my external storage is like that/ External/Micro Sd and not like Removable/MicroSD auto.
can you help me or there is no solution?
thanks for advence for the help have a nice evening!

OK, first check that your card is working fine o not.
Then, if you are trying to copy system partition Data to memory card, that is not possible without a root access.. System partition is usually 1.5 or 2 gb primarily used to install apps until it is filled and start using internal sdcard automatically.
Thanks fort reply, yes my sd card is working fine, i used Mount2sd app for extend my internal memory, so its use my sd card as internal memory and the app moves all internal data to my external memory.
But now my real internal memory is unmounted and i want her to be usable again and show in parameter/stockage, and yes i'm root by default with my custom rom, sorry for m'y bad english i'm french.
Thanks for answer
Hello, this' is a good information you gave me... Leet me get back to you after a little more search on this issue.....

Hello, i have found some tips for the asus mémo pad hd 7, forts for Who have the problem with Google play store no connection problem you mustang delete a entry in host with host éditor: 127.189.51.242 mtalk.google.com i think this entry appear after 3 days (for me it was 3 days after i installed android) and block all Google app connection Google play store, Google +, hangout google drive.
Also when i bought m'y tablette in characteristic they say Max external memory si 32 gb but i tried the 64 gb card of m'y fâcher an dit world fine so ib. bought one think it work because its a class 10.
So i used mount2sd script for use external storage as internal and made 2 partitions one fat 32 50 gb and one 11 gb in ext4 for external storage sd card.
But the 16 gb of the réal internal storage ( Who was in the tablette) was ont mount but with root explorer i Can see it and stock data and i made a shortcut in my tablette but its don't appear when i plug the tablette in computer.
But i think the problem is with asus mémo pad hd 7 because the mount point of external sd is: removable/ micro sd.
But internal storage mount is: mnt/ sdcard and sdcard0 too and in link2sd when i try to move app ni external sd they say i can't because my external storage is mounted as internal storage so in mount2 sd the sd card cannot be swap with internal stockage i think someone Can fix that.i thank superdragon because i looked is thread its the best for the memopad hd7 tablet and i succesfuly flashed my rom and use is v1.1r2 rom and its work fine.

How to swap my internal storage with my sd card

I have an LG F6(MS500) running xperion rom (http://androidforums.com/threads/metropcs-rom-f6-xperion-rom-updated-2-11-2015.845332/). The problem is, i only have 1.2 GB internal storage but i have a 16 GB external sd card. what i want to do is switch my sd card with my internal storage so the system storage will be 16 gb and ext sd will be 1.2. I have tried so many ways but none of them work. my vold.fstab is as follows:

I want to do this as quick as possible. please help me. Thank you.

Understanding once and for all Android partitions and storage on modern phones

I am a Linux power user, so I am used to deal with Linux / Unix partitions, BUT Android partitioning scheme has always been a huge WTF to me, even if I resized partition of many Android phones with the lovely XDA guides.
Okay, let's start with what is easy to understand. Here you can read a good explanation of Android partitions
/boot
/system
/recovery
/data
/cache
/misc
Let's take as examply my Samsung Galaxy S5: it is selled in two versions 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage. Mine is 16 GB
I installed CyanogenMOD 13 on it, I installed a 128 GB micro SD card and I formatted it as internal storage (Andoird >= 6 feature).
Android >= 6 internal storage has been projected to expand the applications memory too
So I expected the phone to see the 128 GB micro SD card as the only memory storage. But it is not actually.
At the following URL https://s27.postimg.org/rmc4muymr/Android.jpg you can see the phone using two different storages:
Internal memory 11,59 GB
SD Sand Disk card 119 GB
I cannot understand why Android is still using the internal memory of the phone, even if it is actually using the SD card too (as I can see checking the size of /Android folder on the SD card).
Could you please help me understanding "the magic" behind Android storage paradigm?
Thank you

With that feature, apps that can be installed on "External" storage, will be installed there by default, same with pictures and videos, you now have the option to move apps AND its data (Unlike before in 5.x)
The phone will treat the SD card as internal storage (Only because of the way the SD is formatted) however, being that SD Cards are slow in design, Android will not classify it as "Actual" internal storage.
I hope this information helps you out!

Need To Resize The "Fake Internal Memory" On SD Memory Card

OK, I don't know the proper terminology but hopefully you can follow my description below.
Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge (SM-J327P Boost Mobile) Phone
Android v6.0.1
Unmodified, unrooted because no one knows how to root this phone.
Phone has (had) 16GB SD Memory card installed. 8GB is "partitioned" as "Fake Internal Memory", 8GB as "USB Storage Memory". I used up the 8GB Fake Internal Memory. I bought a 32GB SD Card (came preformatted as one 32FAT partition with 64K sector clusters!). I unmounted the 16GB SD Card made copy of the contents to the new 32GB SD Card. Installed the new 32GB SD Card into the phone. Turned the phone on and it worked fine. All the apps stored in Fake Internal Memory work as well as the files on the USB Storage Memory. However the Fake Internal Memory was only 8GB, the same size as it was on the 16GB SD Card! The USB Storage Memory had increased from 8GB to 24GB. The whole reason I got the 32GB SD Card was to increase the size of the Fake Internal Memory not the USB Storage Memory.
So my question is: Is there anyway to increase the size (partition?) of the Fake Internal Memory by stealing some from the USB Storage Memory? Remember the phone can't be rooted.
Note: I removed the working 32GB SD Card (tried both mounted and unmounted) from the phone and put in the computer's USB port but the entire SD Card was one 32FAT partition. So the partition programs I have on the computer wouldn't work on it. Apparently the .android_secure file contains the Fake Internal Memory apps and are not stored in it's own partition.

If it's got 2 partitions on it then any decent partitioning tool should be able to recognise and expand/reduce the size of the partitions.
It's irrelevant what files are stored where as the partitioning program is dealing with blocks of memory not files.
Mini partition tool should be able to deal with this or something like paragon partition manager or Easus partition master.
I don't know how to fix it but here is a root guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/guide-painless-root-samsung-j3-emerge-t3573551
