Hello,
I am somewhat new to xda forums and Im glad to be here.
I wanted to ask for some help regarding developing android applications and programs, as I am somewhat lost in the beginning stages of the process. I havent successfully downloaded the correct programs in order to begin so I guess if someone could help in that regard. However more importantly I would like to know if there is anyone who would be willing to be my official dev. trainer/tutor to teach me the basics so that I can actually have a chance at developing something.
I know ive seen a no noobs section so I know pros must be looking at my post like "just another noob". But I am really interested in learning and I would appreciate someones help and guidance. Thanks and I hope someone decides to help.

Your not in the wrong section, its just that you wont find much help here, and you may want to change the title to developing
Hey Guys i was wondering if some Dev's could help me get started on building my own roms or give me some pointers as to where i should start. I want to make roms to support us Australians as i don't see many going around.

I seriously looked around in the forums and have seen a lot of nice looking roms with an overlock kernel, however I really do like the stock rom on my phone and for some reason I am just not seeing strictly overclocking kernels. I am rooted and have my bootloader unlocked with CWM recovery installed. Can someone please post me a link of give me some names for overlocking kernels? I am on Verizon SCH-I535 version. Thank You!

You need to post all questions in the Q&A section of these forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
As far as I can tell the custom kernels are all tied into the ROMs themselves. Synergy's kernel allows OC.Please read the rules or think carefully before posting. If unsure just hit up the rules or go to General. Development is the last place you should be posting.

Slow and calm yourself down. I had apologized WAY before you made your comment.

I was simply just not paying attention and had apologized in another thread I accidently made. I appreciate the feedback..
hey all, just joined the forum, been lurking for a while, trying to learn about the whole rooting process. i am still not 100% confident on the whole thing, but i am thinking about giving it a shot.
have had a few smart phones, all from t-mobile except for this last one, which is a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon, running android 4.1.2. i have watched a bunch of videos, and read a bunch of threads, but want to make sure i don't turn my phone into a brick by doing this, so i am asking here now.
if i follow the instructions in the video by officialphonerebel for the SCH-I535 will that give me root access? i tried to post a link to the video but since i am a new member the site won't allow me to do that. what else do i need to do in order to delete all the bloatware that comes pre-installed? do i need to unlock the bootloader? or will the process described in the video do that already?
thanks in advance from a dumb union plumber and pipe welder...

Ok, sorry about that, thanks for moving it.
However, you found the time to move my thread, but not to help me? Cool, thanks for that too.

1.Does the video show you how to root from 4.1.2 jelly bean?
2. Yes you need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash anything.
3. Most custom ROMs have bloatware removed.
4. The only way to brick your phone is by flashing something meant for another device.
5. Kenny is a moderator so he doesn't really have to help you just moderate the forums which he did.

Kenny moves threads once they are reported so don't go subtly suggesting anything.

Thank you for the info. The video I watched said 4.1.2/4.1.1., so I am not sure if they require the same procedure or not.
So after I root the phone, I need to flash a custom ROM? I can't just run an unlocked stock version of 4.1.2?
Understood about the bricking, I will pay attention and read what I am flashing first to make sure it is for my device
This forum must run differently than other forums. I am a supermod over on a motorcycle racing website, and we need to be knowledgable about what we are moderating, and give advice and help the members, not just moderate.

I wasn't subtly suggesting anything. I think I was pretty straightfoward saying that in addition to moving my thread he could have helped me answer my questions.
Follow the instructions in below post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35418324
This will give you rooted stock rom.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

follow the directions in this thread >>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 and you will be rooted with an unlocked botloader and ready to flash.
from there you you can stay stock rooted and remove apps yourself. alot of people like titanium back up for that. or you can flash a touchwiz/samsung based ROM that has most if not all of the bloatware removed and allows to add what you want thru the installer at setup. you can find these ROMs in android development. or you can flash an AOSP (android open source project) ROM that is based off "pure google" with developer mods and preferences included. you can find these ROMs in original android development.
backup your phone. i use nandroid and nandroid manager but there are others that may work better for you. only flash stuff for vzw. have fun.

Be careful! Moderators do not have knowledge of every device. We are here to moderate based on forum rules. Learn to read the rules and how to search. Moderators are volunteers responsible for over 35 device forums and are not here to do the searching for you.
Your attitude will get you less and less people wanting to help you. XDA is NOT a support site. It is a Development site.

be careful of what?
and now i understand that this forum is different than the others i frequent. like i said, i am a supermod (voluntarily as well) on another site, and on that site, all of our mods, supermods, and admins need to be familiar with all aspects of what they are moderating, so i assumed (incorrectly apparently) that this site was run the same. my apologies for that.
my attitude? i thought it was rude of you to just moderate the thread, and not even let me know whether or not you could help or not. it was fine to tell me you moved the thread, and it was my fault for posting it in the wrong section, but all you had to say was "hey listen, i don't know much about your device, but you posted it in the wrong section, so i moved it for you." and everything would have been fine.
i read tons of "support" threads on this site, and was not aware that it was for developers only, again, my apologies. can you direct me to a site that is for support please?
for those of you that helped, i thank you.

Thread closed, I will assume you feel it necessary to vent your frustrations, but again, your above post does nothing towards the contribution and/or furthering of development.
One of the main rules of XDA is to read and follow the posting rules prior to posting. Nowhere in these rules is there a requirement for, or of, a moderator to answer your questions just because you asked one. We act on reported posts from users that violate XDA posting rules, and yours did.
If you are a moderator elsewhere, you should be familiar with the codes and standards that it takes to moderate. Firing back and getting the last word in to moderators here is not a classy or nice thing, might be on the site you volunteer on, but not here.
Now, KennyGlass123 may unlock so that you can reply to him. Or, you could have used the PM system to express your dissatisfaction of things. But you did not, hence, me locking this thread.
Have a good weekend.
Hi
I am sorry to come here and spam this forum.
It takes 10 post to get into a developers section to ask an question and I do not have very much questions to ask other than matters of SailfishOS.
I hope not to get too much spanking here until my 10 posts are done and get rights to ask something that matters :crying:

Hi there,
Please read the thread bellow related to your question:
Postcount limit in developmental fora
If you have some problems to report about some ROM, please use the thread opened in the Questions&Answers forum for your device (you don't tell us what device you own)
Good luck
My attempt was to get a question thrown to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/rom-sailfish-os-alpha-t2859817
Asking about Sailfish OS ROM for Nexus7 3G model (tilapia).
But then, I cannot or I should not post there since it is a developer section.
I'll guess this is the more appropriate place to ask a question.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/jolla-sailfish/general
By the way. Thanks for the guidance. After reading a bunch of guides, this huge site became more understandable. I have been reading this site for years but now is the first time when it seems that there is not a ready answer for a question.
