Is $260 a good deal on an Infuse??? - Samsung Infuse 4G

A friend upgrading to a GS2 wants to sell me his. Like new in box with all accessories. What do you guys think. I was leaning towards the Sensation but they are just priced too high right now. I buy all my phones outright. Haven't been under contract in ages.

Let me put this way. I got mine from craigslist site. He asked for 300, and we settled for 260. But when I got the piece to hand, it had a couple minor scratches on the sides (sides only) mostly due to keys, etc, and so I finally got it for 220 after some bargaining. Plus this was abt 3 weeks after Infuse was release.

260 is okay.

pretty good deal

I shouldn't, but...
I got my Infuse for $20
It's a refurb, however, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but so far so good...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk

Got mine for $98.00 at Sam's Club on an upgrade, which is neither here nor there since I have 5 upgrades still sitting there on my AT&T account... you know, just in case I want to try something else.

Can't really count upgrade pricing here.
But $260 for an Infuse off contract is a really good price....
However, based on the phones you are mentioning it sounds like you are tmobile... If so don't do it....
Infuse does not support tmo aws 3g network.

I wouldn't go any higher than $200.
I'd consider $150 a "good deal".

Realistically I'd say its good, but better (and pushing the boundaries of possible would be 200)

If truly in a "like new" condition then I'd say it is a fair deal. I would however try to get him down to $220 or $240. I bought mine for $240 off Craigslist after the power button on my captivate broke.

I paid 300 for mine with out a contract. I also think that is a big part of it as if you do not plan to get lockinto a contract it is a good price. Like for me I took my work phones sim and put it into here so I could not get a discount from a contract.

[Q] If I can get this off-contract for 200, should I?

I've never had an Android phone, but something tells me the Captivate won't be the phone to have for 2 years.
But is it worth getting for 200 dollars? To mess around with and experiment with? I mean I'd use it as my main phone and all, but it's gotten such bad press, I'm not sure what to think of it. Not to mention the guy I am buying it from is switching to Sprint or Verizon because of a lack of HTC Android Phones on ATT.
So, should I go for it? It is a brand new Galaxy S, or a refurbished one... I don't know actually. It is in a box that was sent to him to replace his bricked Galaxy S from when he canceled an update.
And, is the GPS really that bad? Considering my Touch Pro's GPS is horrible, I don't expect much!
Off contract? Yes.
If I could switch to Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile, I'd be goner than gone.
Go for it. It's a good deal.

Any chance you will share where you can get this phone for $200 off contract. I paid that for min on contract. I would love to get one for my wife but she has another year before she is eligible for an upgrade.
If you go to at&t's site, login and try to buy this phone without a contract they will charge you over $400.
hehe. i'm just gonna pay the breach of contract and switch to sprint for the evo or the epic. not sure wich, but i'm tossing mine up on craigs list. oh, and overstock.com is advertising them for .01 with new contract...
Paid $120 for mine after I called AT&T and told them that my crenelation is less than $100 or they can sell me the new phone for $120. The never thought twice and overnighted the phone to me for the $120.
I paid 230 for mine the first week it came out. I eventually went to best buy and got 80 bucks from them when they put it on sale
I paid $200 for mine. Totally worth it.
Coming from an x10 user, this phone is really good. Of course there is better, there always is hurting the price that you're getting is really good too.

I would give a resounding "heck yeah". Get it. If you don't like it, you will most likely be able to sell for a profit.

Let see what this beings us that arent too happy with the captivate....

Not likely that AT$T trade-in values will be at or even near what eBay or Craig's List can fetch on a decent device.
Why does this make me think this is aimed at us upset Android Owners who want our devices updated?

Because you're too naive? You probably get $5 trade-in value at most out of your Captivate.
Didn't At&t modify its upgrade policy recently? I coulda swore it was gonna raise increase the time it took to upgrade and raise prices...
Does anyone know anything about that?

And I just got $500 for my iPhone 4 16 Gig cash from craigslist. Locked, unjailbroken. Within 24 hours. I bought my Captivate for $350 used and plan to sell it for more than $300 when the time's right to jump ship to Verizon.
If I read this correctly...you're saying that this Captivate is worth $93 if you want to sell it to radio shack? I know it's worth around $350-400 used.

I'm more inclined to call it Capitalism. People are obviously willing to pay it. (Not me, but some )
I've already made all the money back on the Captivate, and then some. And then some more.
So I was planning on selling it, but I think I'll keep it.
I've seen bestbuy/tigerdirect offer similar programs, problem was that there is a monthly fee hahahah
Wow you guys are paying too much! I paid $200 for my gf's Captivate on CL and it's in great shape. It came in the original box with the manuals and everything. I pulled it out and noticed immediately that dude had wiped it down before reboxing it so there was not a fingerprint on it. He even had a microfiber with him so I could clean it again after I played with it.
Older, 1007, but still in great shape. I also have a line on a one-month old iPhone4 for $350. I paid $200 for my MT3G, used it for 9 months, rooted it and learned a lot, then sold it for $200.
I think I'm gonna pick up the iPhone4 just because it's a good deal and I can.
We are stuck in the middle of the big boys playing politics!

galaxy s2

Hi , At&t is offering me galaxy s2 for $230 as an early upgrade offer. my contracts ends in nov 2012, so if i take this upgrade offer, my contract would end in nov 2013, should i go ahead with this or wait for some new phones in june/july.
There will always be a better phone coming out in a few months. If you wait for summer, it will be the holiday season.
Samsung sold over 10 million GS IIs before selling a single one in the US.
Any flaw, what so ever insignificant, in the captivate is fixed in the GS II. It feels amazing in hand, super smooth and fast, plus there is already 7 different ROMs, and it hasn't been out a month yet.
You cannot go wrong with the GS II. Go into the store and play with it. After two weeks I have yet to find a flaw, or a way to make it lag, or hesitate.
My question for you is: how do I get att to let me renew a year early? (For next time)
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
AT&T is letting me upgrade a year early also. Pretty sure it's not a full discount upgrade, or what, but my contract isn't up until 2012.
the original retail price is $199 and they are offering me for $230. I just called customer care and asked for an upgrade for s2 they gave the above option...this is with a 2 year contract....

Don't do it! You'll feel ripped when the SGS 3 comes out, Think about how long the SGS 2 has been out outside the USA..... Or you can can get the GS2 as it is one of the greatest phones out there right now and it flies like the wind.

My contract ends in January 2012, but I got a Galaxy S II off-contract.
The thing's AMAZING!! Super light, amazing screen, extremely fast, the best in every aspect.
The price is not, it's $599 off-contract. But do what I did, scout craigslist and find people who are selling it new in box at a good price, or sell your captivate, or trade.
The deal I scored was $360 + hacked Motorola Backflip, and I have a spanking new Galaxy S II.. Just don't deal in a bad neighborhood and always make sure it's the Galaxy S II (Say's it on the back)
Save your contract/upgrade for the Galaxy S III

It does not lag at all, it's buttery-smooth and shows no sign of lag considering the powerful specs and the hardware-accelerated browser, launcher, and touchwiz applications.

You get a faster upgrade cycle (discounted upgrades every year) if your bill is over a certain amount per month, which I think is around $100

That stopped this year. They changed it, from 12 months to the normal 20. After upgrading in September, I next qualify 5/2013. That's why I was curious how he got them to budge at all. I have another line that qualifies in December (start date 4/2010, never renewed), and the phone broke, I tried in store and over the phone, they won't let me upgrade early without adding like $100 to the price of the phone, not the gentle $30 the OP got.

I have always had an 18-month upgrade cycle with them, $75 "earlier than that" option. But, I've been with them since the Cingular era courtesy of corporate discounting.

I was with att wireless, before they were Cingular, with a corporate sponsorship this whole time. In the past I have had 18 or 12 month cycles too. The att store told me they changed the policy a few months back so all future renewals are not eligible until 20 months. I'm ecstatic with my phone now, so it doesn't matter now, but if in a year I can upgrade for only an extra $30, I'll be all over that. Maybe by then the LTE phones will have battery life worked out, and my area will have LTE

I was talking to one of the managers at my local AT&T store and he was saying that he could upgrade me early and renew my 2 year contract, he said I would get the phone at the 2 year contract price, the only catch was I had to buy $200 worth of accessories to go with it. Of course he pointed out the the Jawbone Jambox is $200. I might use it for the Skyrocket that's coming out, I'm just having a hard time parting with my Cappy.

[Q] What is the going rate for a used Nexus S 4G in good condition with a clean ESN?

Bought the Wife an iPhone 4s 16GB for Christmas , and now I am left with an extra rooted Evo 4G. I am a flashaholic and I love my Evo, but I would like to try Google Wallet and CM9/ICS Roms on the Nexus S 4G. I was hoping to trade the extra Evo straight up for a good, used Nexus S with a clean ESN, but I think most people would rather have cash. Craigslist here in Columbus has what I am looking for, but the prices vary from $120 (possible scam?) to over $300 (price gouging or NIB). I would like to get a feel from you all as to what I should be paying. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
Used with a good ESN and in mint condition they go for around 230-250, but yeah most would probably want cash instead of another phone. Usually you get rid of your phone cause you got another one.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll sell the Evo separate and be ready to meet somewhere with public wifi so I can try to activate the Nexus on the spot.
I got one for 100 and another for 140 on Craigslist. But that was right before ics got so popular. Now eBay will be the best choice. And these were clean esn for sprint.

June 20th ....SGS3 T-Mobile

You may have already heard the news released today about the Samsung Galaxy S3 arriving in stores on June 20th (fingers crossed ) but I thought I would post it for others to see. T-Mobile also has included release dates for a few other phones like the Galaxy Note (way too big ) and the Mytouch line of devices. The fallowing information has been provided by TMOnews.
Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Metallic Blue – June 20th
Samsung Galaxy S III 32GB Metallic Blue – June 20th
T-Mobile myTouch (Huawei Phoenix) – July 11th
T-Mobile myTouch (Huawei Buddy) – July 11th
Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Ceramic White – July 11th
Samsung Galaxy Note – July 11th
* I got my eye on the Blue 32gb. SGS3....(Pebble Blue)
What are you all thinking?
July 11th for me, not wasting my time with the blue version. White is just too pretty.

Not sure about price...How much does a Note go for on other networks? Probably similar pricing? I bought my SGS2 for full price the day it came out and I kicked myself for doing so. I had the MT4G in one hand and the SGS2 in the other, what am I supposed to do? lol....I called T-Mobile this afternoon to check on my upgrade status. and what do ya know? This June I will be due for a full upgrade, just in time for the worlds greatest smartphone aka SGS3. Or until a better phone drops 2 weeks later....haha. My guess is no less than $600.00, and who knows about the difference in price from the 16gb to the 32gb? I cant imagine it being over a 100 dollar difference between the two, but what do I know. Our luck it will be like $850.00 or something ridiculous...
T-mobile is notorious for making you pay way too much for a phone even when you have a full upgrade available. Needless to say I'll be waiting to see reviews and developments before I jump onto any of these, even though the galaxy III is calling my name.

The last time I bought a phone, upgraded, and added a 2 year contract on my plan was when I got a Blackberry Curve 8900 right around when the phone came out for close to $300. I've been using a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone I bought from a friend up until I got my S2 about 6 months ago. I paid $400 dollars (With a $50 dollar rebate, whoopdeedoo...) out of pocket with an obvious full upgrade at a T-Mobile store not an "Authorized" reseller. Close friend of mine paid the same amount as me shortly afterwards.
I would have much rather have paid the glorious $99 dollars you paid. Did you get it during a promotion?

I was going to walk away, then he offered a bit less and I took it since I really wanted the Sensation. My big mistake, picking the phone first instead of the carrier. I didn't realize TMO coverage is not so hot here in Vegas. I will be switching to either Verizon or Sprint in 14 months unless TMO dramatically upgrades their coverage.

Just found my receipt, the breakdown looks like this.
Phone price - $279.99 (Discount - Normally $499.99)
Sales Tax - $43.59 (Based on the full price of the phone)
Upgrade Fee - $18.00
Upgrade Fee Tax -$1.58
Total = $341.58
I feel molested after hearing you paid a whopping $99 dollars....

What part of town? The Sensation 4G has mediocre reception, I had one. T-Mobile's biggest problem is EDGE coverage, not a total lack of. Thankfully after two years of them basically stopping any major investments in the Las Vegas area, they are picking back up again. Mountains Edge just got 4G HSPA+ instead of the 3G it was on.
Dude I can't wait!!!!!
