[Q] can something similar to rom cleaner app install be made for aosp & sense? - HTC Sensation

Didn't see this yet so if its out already then my bad for new post.
Rom cleaner will install apps backed up with Rom cleaner backup tool. These tools look like they r for sense Roms. I'm not looking for aosp only but something for the flash-happy fools like me (i know ur out there ) who flash between sense and aosp..
Looking to back up non sense apps that work on aosp and sense. Like titanium backup but flashed through cwm to install apps before 1st boot to avoid most of the google acct. Downloads on setup. This way little data is used and google stays sync'd between sense Roms and aosp.
I think this is doable..
Pls thx..

You can use ROM Cleaner tools even on no-sense ROMs.
If you wish to not delete anything just create an empty text file called romcleaner_user.txt put it in /sdcard/ROMCleaner and ROM Cleaner won't delete anything, it will only restore all apps located in /sdcard/ROMCleaner/firstboot/data/app/
Use backup tool to backup all your apps first.
Then flash ROM Cleaner.
More info can be found in my ROM Cleaner thread.

[Q] Customizing a custom ROM

Hey guys,
i was wondering, if there is a possibility to customize a custom ROM. I found a great one but, as almost every ROM, it consists of apps i dont need/want. Removing is not possible (or possible?). I already tried to unpack it with osKitchen, but it crashes because "its a custom ROM".
Are there any other options to make it works?
Thx a lot,
Darkslider2k4
If you use titanium backup you should be able to delete any app you want. Or you can use a program called 7 zip, unzip it, take out and add what you want and zip it back up. This is useful for apps that you can't install such as theme chooser for CM7.
I do not use titanium backup, software which is better?
No, iam not using titanium backup. Its a Windows Mobile (6.5) Phone.
I already tried to unzip it with 7-zip, but its impossible. He always whines that the file Gambit 1.3.2048 RC2 - Sense 2.5.2019|Titanium cannot be opened as an archive.
But you get my intension? I want to customize a ROM, which is done by an user (the one i linked).
Thx

[APP] App2zip [Make a flashable zip of all your apps and their data!]

First, I want to thank SCDevs and xdaid for putting this app out and for continuing development and support. The original thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561729
The app can also be downloaded for free in the Play Store here: http://goo.gl/Zmzmh
May I suggest that you support development of this app by buying the Donate version here: http://goo.gl/SVtyl
What does this app do? This app will make a flashable update.zip of all your apps and their data, /including system apps if you so choose, for you to flash after you complete a full wipe and flash a new rom.
While it is understood that Titanium backup can restore all your apps and data and take a relatively short amount of time to do its job, this app makes it a bit more convenient by allowing you to just flash a zip and be done with it.
Enjoy the app.
I found a bug with the restoration of 2 apps.
Chrome browser
Quickpic
Both apps had to be uninstalled and.reinstalled for them to function. Just a heads up.

Can I do a backup from stock message app and restore to a sense 4.0 text message app?

The stock sense mms.apk? Idk I haven't tried that. Haven't used a pure stock sensation Rom since last July. I'm guessing no since stock is gb and sense 4.0 is ics. You can try it tho. If you want to save your messages just use.sms backup and restore in the Play Store. It's a free app and has always worked for me.
On a side note, I know the stock ics mms.apk DOES work on sense 4.0. I'm using it on OrDroid right now.
Hope that helped. Lmk if I didn't answer your question.

Wait a second... I get it. You can do the backup and restore from one messaging app to another, you just have to use sms backup and restore or a similar app.

I get an error(0) Installation aborted, when flashing the update.zip.
Any thoughts?
Edit: Now i am getting error(7) Something like looking for four found three

Weird. Ok so the way around that is to grab the update-binary from a rom that doesn't use aroma installer (I used aokp when I tested this) and overwrite the one found in data/data/scdev-app2zip/files then make your backup zip. I know that will work.

What is the easiest method to change between ROM's?

Hello, and thank you for reading.
I'm a newbie when it comes to ROM's and all concerning them.
So I've been running the latest version of TrickDroid for quite a while now but would like to try some AOSP ROM's also (Liquid/CM/etc.).
As it might happen that I don't like them or I wanted to try an unstable ROM (for testing JB), how could I easily switch back to TrickDroid?
Is there such a thing as multi-boot or anyhting similar?
Should I take a full back with TWRP or what?
And can I have the same apps working with same system/app data on different ROM's; if I restore a full TB it should work fine, right?
Thank you very much.
No multi boot, but take a backup in TWRP and you're back to trickdroid quick enough if you restore it. I never tried restoring apps and appdata with TB as its not recommended especially when going to a ROM on another base like say from trickdroid to liquid or CM. Also stuff like SMS and call logs are tricky since the HTC mms and dialer are not available on AOSP roms so nowhere to restore appdata to.
So other apps should be fine except SMS and call logs?
But shouldn't 'SMS Backup & Restore' be able to put your messages into any ROM no matter what it's based on?

I use titanium backup to restore APPS + DATA on every rom and it has never failed me once.
It even works when jumping between all types of roms i've installed, including: CM, AOSP, sense based and MIUI.
My procedure is always.
1. Make a full backup in TWRP
2. use SMS Backup & Restore for my messages
3. use titanium backup > click batch selection > select Backup all new user apps & newer versions
4. still in Titanium batch selection > select Redo backups for modified data
This way you are straight back to the way you had everything, no matter what rom your on. you only have to redo your home screen
Tb can backup and restore user apps on any Rom.
But you cannot restore system apps between sense and asop
User apps are only downloaded apps so you can restore anywhere even on different phones
You could also if your using a diff launcher back it up and restore it then u won't even have to set up your homescreens.
Hope that clears it up.

Thank you everyone.
This helps a lot.

you could also use ROM manager or Goo manager BETA.. those two apps are available in play store and you can flash ROMs directly from there

Using Titanium backup for other ROMs

Hey, I'm a bit of noob so I'm not sure how exactly the installation of mods work with system data. I've used CleanROM from ScottsRoms and Xi40 from Team Nocturnal and I like both of them. However, I like some of the mods from the Xi40 ROM that I'd like to transfer over to the CleanROM 4.5 candidate 1. Would this be possible through using Titanium Backup? I see there are a lot of data to choose when backing up system data, so would I be able to choose the data mods changed too?
What mods in particular are you talking about? If you mean the coredroid tweaks then no thats not possible to transfer over. Correct me if im wrong anyone but titanium backup is just for apps. If you want mods and what not youll have to either flash them or have choose the ROM they come with. But no, I dont think its possible to transfer mods between ROMs using titanium backup

You could go with cleanrom and avoid the trouble or search "bloatware" and there is a list somewhere.
i started removing alot of bloat and stuff from the att hox rom. i was able to remove tons and keep it stable. i used titanium backup to uninstall most of what i removed. i assume you could just delete the apk/odex and get the same result though, although some leftover libraries get uninstalled if you do it through titanium backup.
what i did was in "settings, apps"; force stop, disable, clear *, then in titanium backup i wiped data again and uninstalled.
do a Google search for nocturnal sense rom tool v 1.3. Once you flash that from your recovery a cool little installation wizard comes out which gives you many options. You can delete bloatware and keep sense or even de-sense and achieve a stock is look using nova or apex launcher. does it all for u no other apps like apex are needed. u can keep sense if u like it. I hope it helps
